6 stories to get you ready for Tales of the Jedi
Image
My animation-loving heart rejoiced when the trailer for Tales of the Jedi dropped at D23 Expo. I always want more animated content in a galaxy far, far away, and this series of shorts looks excellent! All six episodes from creator Dave Filoni will premiere on Disney+ on October 26.

With Tales of the Jedi a little more than a month away, here is a list of books and shows to watch to get you ready for the new adventure with Ahsoka, Count Dooku, Qui-Gon Jinn, and more.

1. Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston

When the show was announced at Celebration, some of the early reports like from Screen Rant described Ahsoka fighting an Imperial Inquisitor. Now that we have the trailer, we see this on screen. There are a handful of times in canon Ahsoka has tangoed with the Inquisitorious. Some of the encounters were featured in Star Wars Rebels. The other was in the Ahsoka novel.

Star Wars' Most Obvious Andor Sequel Would Honor a Controversial George Lucas Statement
Image
Quick Links A Story Leading Up to The Force Awakens Has Potential A Force Awakens Prequel Can Redeem the Sequels It Could Also Set Up an Upcoming Star Wars Film Andor was a success, and Lucasfilm should consider a follow-up series. A series before The Force Awakens can add more layers to the New Republic's destruction in the film. Setting up a prequel series could also redeem the sequel trilogy's legacy.

A prequel series centered on Rogue One's Cassian Andor was one of the most surprising announcements to come from Lucasfilm since Disney took over the franchise, and it initially didn't excite fans as much as others like the Obi-Wan Kenobi series. As it turned out, Andor became one of the greatest Star Wars projects ever produced thanks to its mature and smart storytelling that has elevated the franchise. Andor is a Star Wars project fans have been dreaming of for years,...

Star Wars: The High Republic Reveals First Look At Young Yoda
Star Wars: The High Republic has finally launched. This new chapter in the franchise is set hundreds of years before the Skywalker saga in a period where the Jedi were ascendant, giving creators room to tell new stories that don’t need to fit into the increasingly cramped existing continuity. The much-hyped line recently began with two novels and a children’s book: Charles Soule’s Light of the Jedi, Justina Ireland’s A Test of Courage and Cavan Scott’s The Great Jedi Rescue. We also now have the inaugural issue of Marvel Comics’ The High Republic comic series, which gives us our first taste of a new version of Yoda.

Being set so many years before the movies means that the vast majority of familiar characters won’t have been born yet, but the long-lived Yoda is here around the height of his powers. As he’s merely 700 rather than 900 years old,...

The Mandalorian Confirmed That The Empire Never Truly Ended
Set roughly five years after Return of the Jedi‘s conclusion, The Mandalorian occupies the middle ground between the Original and Sequel trilogies, giving the Disney Plus show unique storytelling opportunities to connect to both. So far, any references to other movies have largely been fleeting, but with Boba Fett back in the picture and on the hunt for his armor, those connections are set to be deepened substantially throughout the rest of season 2.

Last week’s episode made it clear that the animated canon is going to factor heavily into the narrative, with Bo-Katan debuting in live-action and pointing Mando in the direction of Ahsoka Tano, as well as telling us that she wants the Darksaber back from Moff Gideon. One of the smaller and yet more interesting reveals from “The Heiress,” though, was that it confirmed that Gideon still holds allegiance to the Empire.

Darth Sidious may have...

Lucasfilm has revealed a new trailer for Star Wars: The High Republic publishing campaign. This was revealed to be the mysterious Project Luminous we had been hearing about. What fans will be getting is a massive publishing initiative spread across various publishers, in various mediums, delivering brand new stories in uncharted territory in a galaxy far, far away. The trailer reveals just how massive this initiative is, and just how much thought and time went into making it a reality.

The trailer opens up with massive, sweeping shots of Coruscant and other parts of the galaxy. Things look prosperous. Shots from the prequels are mixed in, but this takes place about 200 years before the events of The Phantom Menace, so this is going pretty far back in the timeline to an area that hasn't been explored much. The Project Luminous trailer showcases the following text, setting up what's to come.

New Star Wars Novel May Tease How Emperor Palpatine Returns
The Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker trailer confirmed that Emperor Palpatine will be making his shock return in Episode IX, leaving fans scrambling to theorize ways that he could be back after Darth Vader threw the Sith Lord to his doom in Return of the Jedi. It’s intriguing to note, then, that a Star Wars novel published just days after the trailer was released back in April might foretell his resurrection.

Credit to Reddit user Franzman86 for highlighting this significant passage in Claudia Grey’s Master & Apprentice. In it, Qui-Gon Jinn discovers a prophecy that reads: “He who learns to conquer death will through his greatest student live again.”

The Jedi Prophecy In Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace Has Finally Been Revealed
Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace was released almost exactly 20 years ago. Though it’s safe to say the film hasn’t exactly aged well, it’s got an increasingly warm place in fans’ hearts from those who saw it when they were children. And while Jar Jar Binks might never be rehabilitated, elements like Darth Maul returning in Solo and the Naboo levels in the Battlefront II video game prove that there’s an appetite for all things Episode I.

However, there’s one key element in the film that’s been a mystery for the last two decades. You’ll remember that Liam Neeson’s enigmatic Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn spoke of a prophecy that seemed to relate directly to the young Anakin Skywalker. This prophecy helped convince the Jedi to train Anakin, which set the universe on a pretty horrible path. But while the dialogue explained...

Future Star Wars Movie Timeline Revealed?
Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, David Prowse, and Kenny Baker in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
As of now, fans are guaranteed at least four more Star Wars movies, with Star Wars: The Last Jedi (December 15, 2017), the Han Solo spin-off (May 25, 2018), Star Wars: Episode IX (May 24, 2019) and an unidentified third spin-off that could focus on Boba Fett or Obi-Wan Kenobi. After that, the future is less clear, although there was a report from November that claimed all Star Wars movies after Episode IX will be stand alone movies, although there was another report that claimed a new trilogy will happen several years from now. Over the weekend, author Claudia Grey, who has written the Star Wars novel Bloodline, offered an interesting tidbit, hinting when future Star Wars movies may be set.

Podcaster Bryan Young was in attendance at a launch event for new Star Wars novels, where authors Claudia Grey and Delilah S. Dawson (Phasma) were answering fan questions and signing copies of their books. Bryan Young...

Slave Leia Returns as the Huttslayer in Star Wars: Bloodlines
Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, James Earl Jones, David Prowse, and Kenny Baker in Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977)
Last week, details were revealed about the next Star Wars graphic novel, Star Wars: Bloodlines, written by Claudia Gray. The story follows General Leia's backstory leading into The Force Awakens, and the book sheds new light on how the Resistance was founded, Han and Leia's relationship, plus the reveal of a huge secret about Darth Vader. Star Wars 8 director, Rian Johnson even collaborated with the author on this new story. Now that the book is available for purchase, Claudia Gray shed some light on the story in a new interview. There will be Spoilers for this book below, so read on at your own risk if you plan on picking up Star Wars: Bloodlines.

This latest novel story revisits an iconic part of Leia's on-screen history, her time spent in the infamous gold bikini when she was enslaved by Jabba the Hutt. Leia encounters a character that refers to her as the "Huttslayer,...

Johnson Contributes To "Star Wars" Novel
Our first look at what's in store in Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: Episode VIII" may not come with a trailer, but rather with a new book set to hit stores next week.

Claudia Grey's official canon novel "Star Wars: Bloodline", released in book stores on May 3rd, is set prior to the events of "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and will reveal what caused Leia to break from the Republic and help create the Resistance.

It will touch upon the origins of the First Order, and suggests one element in which "the galaxy finds out a scandalous secret" - could the truth about Leia's parentage be the thing that causes her to split from the Alliance?

More importantly a press release confirms that some of the story ideas and elements came straight from Rian Johnson himself. What those ideas and elements might actually be however are uncertain at this point.

Star Wars: Laura Dern and Leia in Episode VIII
Whew! Even with all the superhero-on-superhero battles that we’re going to be inundated with from right now on Netflix through Captain America: Civil War in may, the Star Wars universe keeps on a-spinning.

As the production on Star Wars: Episode VIII (Space Bear) finishes off its (fifth?) week, the photo leaks from Dubrovnik are still most of what we know about the plot. Well, that and it looks like the movie will pick up with Daisy Ridley and Mark Hamill on Ach-To, pretty much where we left off.

This week, I have something to contribute to what we might know about Space Bear. Unfortunately it’s kind of vague, but it is from the stuff being shot at Pinewood Studios, not the location things that we’re all getting peeks at. This information comes from a source that isn’t as nitpicky about specific details as I am, but it is new info nonetheless.
