The movie also stars Maggie Grace, Leland Orser, Jon Gries, David Warshofsky, Katie Cassidy, Holly Valance, and Famke Janssen.

The film first hit theaters in France on February 27, 2008. Though it received mixed reviews from critics, it became a big financial success, making $226 million worldwide on a budget of just $25 million.

‘The White Lotus’ scores 23 nominations, but there are lots of snubs
Image
It’s clear Emmy voters remain fans of the HBO drama, which saw another impressive showing in this year’s nominations. Eight of the show's stars received nominations as did creator Mike White.

Best Drama Series: Nominated

The HBO series, which swept 10 Emmys in its first season and picked up five more in Season 2, has once again been nominated for Best Drama Series. At the time of the nominations, it was ranked third on Gold Derby’s odds list, behind Severance and The Pitt. It will go up against Andor, The Diplomat, The Last of Us, Paradise, The Pitt, Severance and Slow Horses.

Best Drama Supporting Actor: Nominated

The show had nine contenders in the supporting actor category, but only three earned nominations: Walton Goggins as Rick, Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff, and Sam Rockwell as Frank. These three consistently ranked among Gold Derby’s top five contenders, with Goggins leading the pack.

Gosh! ‘A Minecraft Movie’ Is a Streaming Hit, and So Is Jared Hess’ 21-Year-Old Cult Hit
Image
Jared Hess' A Minecraft Movie was one of the bigger surprise hits of the year, both in movie theaters and now on streaming. Riding the wave of its success is Hess' endlessly quotable directorial debut, which was an even bigger surprise hit in the summer of 2004, when an indie comedy with a cast full of unknowns became the sleeper hit of the year. Napoleon Dynamiteis now the #9 streaming movie on HBO Max, trailing A Minecraft Movie at #2.

Napoleon Dynamite has its origins in Peluca, a nine-minute black-and-white short film about a nerdy high school student. Directed by Hess and starring the then-unknown Jon Heder, the film was a hit at the Slamdance Film Festival, and Hess and his wife and producing partner, Jerusha Hess, secured $400,000 Usd to make a feature-length version of the film. Heder returned as the title character for the movie, which was shot in southern Idaho. The...

‘The White Lotus’ Emmy predictions: Which nominations will the cast and crew get?
Image
The White Lotus cast may have better luck at the Emmys in Los Angeles than their on-screen counterparts did during their ill-fated Thai vacation. While tragedy shadowed the fictional guests at the resort, the series’ stellar Emmy track record hints at a much brighter fate this awards season.

If history is any indicator, The White Lotus is poised for another big night. The show’s first season swept 10 Emmys, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Season 2 followed suit with five wins, among them Jennifer Coolidge’s win for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. In her now-iconic acceptance speech, Coolidge thanked creator Mike White, saying:

“Mike White, you have given me hope and changed my life in a million different ways. My neighbors are speaking to me. I mean it. I was never invited to one party on my hill and now everyone’s inviting me.”

As awards season heats up,...

'She Owed Him Nothing': The White Lotus Star Explains One of Season 3's Biggest Heartbreaks
Image
Natasha Rothwell recalled her pitch for Belinda's arc in The White Lotus Season 3. This included Belinda's moral predicament towards the end, and how that decision impacted her budding love story. Rothwell explained why Belinda left Pornchai heartbroken in the finale.

Belinda Lindsey has one of the best arcs in The White Lotus. She came out unscathed in Season 3, and her career prospects are looking bright; she can afford to quit her job at the White Lotus Hawaii. In an interview with Variety, Natasha Rothwell celebrated her character's newfound agency. She also has a message for fans who called out Belinda for leaving Pornchai, who was last seen pining for her in the finale.

"That pisses me off," she said. "People are just like, 'Oh, you just left Pornchai (played by Dom Hetrakul) on the side of the road.' She f—-- the dude one night. She had a one-night stand.

Natasha Rothwell Pitched Belinda’s ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Storyline: ‘She Sees That She Has Power Over a White Man’
Image
Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda has been “The White Lotus” mainstay for three seasons, and this year the much put-upon character was faced with a moral conundrum that — just so happens — was Rothwell’s own doing.

“That storyline was my pitch,” Rothwell told Sterling K. Brown in their “Actors on Actors” interview for Variety.

This season, Belinda encounters Tanya’s (Jennifer Coolidge) widower and (she suspects) murderer Greg, (Jon Gries), who offers to buy Belinda’s silence. While son Zion (Nicholas Duvernay) helps up that payout to a multi-million dollar figure, Belinda takes hold of her own power in the situation.

“Listen, this is why I love Mike White. Originally it was Belinda’s son, Zion, running the show,” Rothwell explained. “I told Mike I really wanted to see Belinda have agency in this moment. Can she take over the negotiation in some way? What is an authentic way for her...

Close calls: The state of the 2025 Emmy drama race
Image
One year after the FX drama Shōgun left the drama field in the dust with a record-setting 18 Emmy Award victories, the category is more competitive than it has been in years.

At least four shows can make a serious case for being chosen as the eventual winner, starting with the odds-on frontrunner, Severance. The Apple TV+ drama series returned to the streamer three years after its acclaimed debut season landed 14 overall Emmy bids, including Best Drama Series, Best Drama Actor for Adam Scott, Best Drama Supporting Actor for John Turturro and Christopher Walken, and Best Drama Supporting Actress for Patricia Arquette. Thanks to a second season that consistently surprised and delighted its fans, the expectation is that Severance will significantly expand that nominations tally, potentially adding nominations for Britt Lower (Best Drama Actress), Trammell Tillman (Best Drama Supporting Actor), Zach Cherry (Best Drama Supporting Actor), and Dichen Lachman (Best Drama...

It Starts On The Page (Drama): Read ‘The White Lotus’ Episode 305 Script “Full-Moon Party” With Foreword By Mike White
Image
Editor’s note: Deadline’s It Starts on the Page (Drama) features 10 standout drama scripts in 2025 Emmy contention.

Audiences have come to expect Mike White to push boundaries as he explores the corrupting forces of wealth and privilege in his HBO anthology The White Lotus. Still, Season 3, set at the fictional resort chain’s Thai oasis, may be his most jaw-dropping yet.

As always, the eight-episode new installment, written and directed by White, begins with groups of ultra-rich socialites gathering for a week of rest and relaxation — or so they think. In reality, their lives are likely to be upended by the chaos that breaks out over the course of the week, which is pretty much guaranteed to leave at least one person dead.

The turning point for Season 3 is undoubtedly Episode 5, titled “Full-Moon Party.” The episode is set at the iconic full moon party on Koh Phangan. Brothers Saxon...

‘The White Lotus’ will enter these 20 Season 3 actors — along with surprise submission Ke Huy Quan — for the 2025 Emmys
Image
Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan could soon be adding an Emmy to his ever-growing awards mantel.

Gold Derby has learned that HBO will submit The White Lotus Season 3 in 39 categories at the 2025 Emmys, including for Best Drama Series and 21 of its cast members.

Napoleon Dynamite's Success Led To An Awful Animated Series That Was Canceled After 6 Episodes
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Jared Hess' oddball comedy "Napoleon Dynamite" was an enormous success when it was released back in 2004, making over $46 million on its tiny $400,000 budget. The film was just peculiar enough to attract a snarky audience of jeering twentysomethings who liked to quote the film's kooky dialogue and imitate lead actor Jon Heder's peculiar delivery. The title character lived in a boring city in Idaho, but, like a Wes Anderson character, also lived in a carefully constructed personal universe of his own. Napoleon was always confident and assured, even as he was relentlessly picked on at his high school. His fashion sense stunk, but he attacked the world with a strangely laconic self-assurance that one can't help but envy.

The character was striking enough to launch a miniature industry of "Vote for Pedro" T-shirts, sweaters, mugs, Funko Pops, bumper stickers, and Halloween costumes.

How Natasha Rothwell helped Belinda get her groove back in ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3
Image
Most fans of The White Lotus believe we’ll see Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda again. But if the character’s Season 3 exit sailing off into the Thai sunset with her son, Zion (Nicholas Duvernay), $5 million richer is the last we see of the spa manager, it’s a well-deserved happy ending for both the fan favorite and the actress who plays her.

Rothwell earned an Emmy nomination for the HBO series' first season, which ended with the death of Hawaii-based Belinda’s dream to open her own spa after investor Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) pulled out. Rothwell watched Sicily-set Season 2 as a fan, and knew that Tanya had died trying to escape a hit orchestrated by her husband, Greg (Jon Gries). When she binged creator Mike White’s scripts for Season 3, and read that Belinda’s exchange program was complicated by her recognizing resort restaurant patron "Gary" as Greg, Rothwell couldn't...

The White Lotus Season 3's Natasha Rothwell Responds To Belinda Backlash
Image
In season 3 of the supposed anthology series "The White Lotus" (which creator Mike White set in Thailand after visiting Hawai'i and Italy in the show's first two outings), audiences get to reconnect with Belinda Lindsey (played by Natasha Rothwell), a spa employee who first showed up in Maui back in season 1. Belinda visits the Thailand outpost of the fictional White Lotus chain to learn from the wellness staff there, largely because this location bills itself as being hyper-focused on wellness. However, she ends up getting a lot more than she bargained for.

I should rephrase that. Belinda ends up quite literally bargaining for $5 million dollars from her old acquaintance Greg Hunt (Jon Gries), whom she met back in Maui, so that she'll continue to keep his many, many secrets. While that's certainly not what Belinda thought would happen in Thailand, that's how everything shook out. So, does Rothwell think Belinda is evil now?...

‘The White Lotus’ Star Natasha Rothwell Defends Belinda For “Centering Herself”
Image
Following the Season 3 finale of The White Lotus, Natasha Rothwell is shutting down critics of Belinda’s “good for her” moment.

The 2x Emmy nominee defended the character’s choice to leave Thailand after successfully blackmailing Greg (Jon Gries) to stay quiet about him likely killing his late wife Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), reasoning that it doesn’t mean Belinda has an evil streak.

“I don’t think so,” she told People. “I think her heart is good, but I do think that she was flirting with being a baddie by taking this money. So I don’t think she’ll turn bad, but I do think there’s maybe a consequence by all those decisions have, sort of that yin and yang.”

Rothwell thinks Belinda could suffer consequences in a future season “as a result of the decision she made,” adding: “Who knows? I don’t even know if she’s coming back.

Bananas, Flowers and Lemons, Oh My! Jacquemus Toasts L.A. Store Opening With Stars, Influencers
Image
Jacquemus was the toast of West Hollywood on Thursday night.

Simon Porte Jacquemus and his French fashion brand brought Riviera flair to the corner of Melrose Avenue and Robertson Boulevard to celebrate the house’s second outpost in the United States (after opening a Soho location last year). In addition to the banana mobile parked out front, there were stacks upon stacks of real bananas positioned alongside rows of flowers, lemons and other farmer’s market ready essentials. Oh, and banana soft serve was flowing along with the champagne at the new location, 8804 Melrose, in a space formerly occupied by James Perse.

A mix of L.A. fashion insiders made the rounds alongside actors, influencers and musicians, many of whom were toting floral bouquets or bananas through the bash. To celebrate the opening, the storefront market will remain open through Sunday with special prizes awarded to guests at random. Those...

Jared Hess Is Still a Sundance Guy: Why the Smash Hit ‘Minecraft Movie’ Feels a Little Like an Indie Film
Image
When asked if Hollywood is finally facing its video game renaissance, Jared Hess abruptly switched topics, from “Minecraft” to “Nosferatu.”

“I just loved it,” “A Minecraft Movie” director Hess told IndieWire of the gothic romance from last year. Robert Eggers’ award-winning vampire movie adapts the 1922 German film and Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” by extension. It’s set centuries before video games were invented, but for Hess, Eggers’ exacting and gutsy reconsideration is proof of a key principle behind “A Minecraft Movie.”

“A lot of big movies from the last 20-plus years, so much of the imagery and the experience feels similar,” said Hess. “My favorite [films] are the ones that have personality and characters and interesting things that are unexpected and that surprise you. Those films always inspire me.”

Hess made his feature debut at Sundance in 2004 with an underdog comedy that demonstrated a clarity of vision beyond the twenty-something filmmaker’s years.

Aimee Lou Wood is rising in the Emmy odds after the ‘SNL’ teeth joke
Image
Aimee Lou Wood is getting the last laugh.

After Saturday Night Live spoofed The White Lotus last weekend with a pre-taped sketch called "The White Potus," which reimagined the HBO characters as deranged members of President Donald Trump's inner circle, Wood took to Instagram to publicly call out the show for the way it made fun of her intelligence and her teeth. In the days since, the English actress says she has received an apology from SNL — and she has received an outpouring of support from fans, gaining more than 130,000 Instagram followers. Her Emmy odds have also gotten a boost, jumping from seventh to sixth place in Gold Derby's Best Drama Supporting Actress predictions.

Neither NBC nor SNL has yet commented on Wood's criticism or to confirm that a representative from the show did indeed contact the actress and apologize for the sketch.

In "The White Potus," the week's host,...

28 Years After Final Episode, Martin Lawrence's Sitcom Is Getting a Spinoff (With an Unexpected Character)
Image
Martin Lawrence's classic sitcom, Martin, was one of the most popular sitcoms of the 1990s. Nearly three full decades since the TV show aired its final episode, it's been announced that a new spinoff series is in the works, but perhaps not with a character that fans would expect.

Per Variety, Tommy Davidson is set to star in a new spinoff show dubbed Varnell Hill. In the original show, Davidson played Varnell Hill, the titular host of the fictional late-night talk show The Varnell Hill Show. The spinoff is described as a workplace comedy series that will shine the spotlight on the chaos that happens behind the scenes in television production.

Varnell Hill has been given a series order for BET+. This project is separate from the planned Martin prequel series that was announced to be in the works last year, dubbed Young Martin. The status of that show,...

Saturday Night Live (1975)
‘SNL’ Twists ‘The White Lotus’ Into Trump-Themed Parody “The White Potus”
Saturday Night Live (1975)
Saturday Night Live took a sharp turn into political satire with a spoof titled “The White Potus,” transforming HBO’s The White Lotus into a surreal retreat for the Trump family and key administration figures. The sketch aired during an episode hosted by Jon Hamm and included appearances from Scarlett Johansson, Alex Moffat, and musical guest Lizzo.

The parody recasts characters from The White Lotus season three as figures from the Trump orbit. James Austin Johnson leads the piece as Donald Trump, styled in the manner of Jason Isaacs’s character from the original show. Chloe Fineman portrays Melania Trump with a Southern accent similar to Parker Posey’s Victoria Ratliff, delivering lines that play on the series’ wealthy detachment and political undertones.

“Donald, are you getting ready? Hello? Earth to Donald, it’s your wife, Melania,” she says, as Johnson’s Trump stares off in silence. At the breakfast table,...

‘SNL’ Spoofs ‘The White Lotus’ With Trump Panicking Over Tariffs, Featuring Scarlett Johansson: “The White Potus”
Image
Saturday Night Live is trying to steal HBO’s thunder.

On an episode hosted by Jon Hamm, the NBC sketch show introduced “The White Potus,” featuring James Austin Johnson’s caricature of President Donald Trump numbing the pain of his own existential crisis in the wake of the economic crash not with lorazepam, but with a chicken nugget.

He isn’t alone, either. We’re also introduced to SNL alum’s Alex Moffat’s Eric Trump and, in a surprise cameo, Scarlett Johansson makes an appearance as Ivanka Trump. Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) is there, too as the Trumps channel The White Lotus‘ the Ratliffs.

“Can you imagine how awful it would if America lost all its money?” Melania asks over breakfast, making yet another pointed nod at Trump’s recent tariff policies (of which there were many in Saturday night’s episode). “You would never let our economy go to pieces,...

Epic ‘SNL’ Trump and ‘White Lotus’ Mashup Includes Scarlett Johansson, Several ‘SNL’ Alumni and a ‘Lotus’ Castmember
Image
“The White Lotus” Season 3 was parodied on this week’s “SNL” in a pre-taped segment that spoofed President Trump’s inner circle in the wake of his tariffs.

Trump, portrayed by James Austin Johnson, stands in for Jason Isaacs’ Timothy Ratliff, who faces similarly bad headlines after his tariff plan sunk the stock market this week. The Trump family matches up well with the Ratliffs, as Chloe Fineman portrays Melania by way of Parker Posey’s memorable southern accent. Mikey Day reprises his role as Don Jr., who unexpectedly mirrors Saxon’s shocking sex scene — but this time, he’s satisfying Tiger Woods (Kenan Thompson), who is currently dating his ex-wife.

Cameos beyond the main cast arrive fast and furious, as Scarlett Johansson reprises her role as Ivanka. former cast member Alex Moffat reprised his role as the dimwitted Eric, and Beck Bennett, another former cast member, portrayed Vladimir Putin once again.

‘Saturday Night Live’: Trump goes on vacation in ‘The White Potus,’ Kieran Culkin crashes, and more best moments from Jon Hamm’s episode
Image
Although he's best known for his deadly serious performance as Don Draper on Mad Men, Jon Hamm has never hesitated to show off his funny side, especially when it comes to Saturday Night Live. With Hamm's latest Apple TV+ series Your Friends and Neighbors now streaming, it was the perfect time for the Emmy winner to return to Stage 8H for his fourth hosting gig. Although he hasn't headlined since 2010, Hamm has made 14 cameo appearances throughout the years, becoming something of an SNL mainstay. Here are the best moments from Hamm's most recent hosting gig, from the opening monologue to the best sketches.

Cold Open

With Easter just around the corner, SNL opened with a sketch recounting the cleansing of the temple, when Jesus (Mikey Day) sought to rid money from the holy site. He was interrupted, however, by President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson), who dropped by to...

All 3 of The White Lotus seasons ranked from worst to best
Image
The White Lotus, created by Mike White, is the hottest show in the world right now! The third season of the hit HBO series just came to an end in April 2025, four years after the series premiered in the summer of 2021.

The White Lotus is already coming back for season 4, and probably more seasons, honestly. There doesn't seem to be anything stopping this show from becoming an all-time great drama-comedy series.

To celebrate the greatness of this show, I ranked all three seasons of The White Lotus so far. Honestly, there is no "worst" season of this show. They are all good, but there's definitely one show that stands apart from the rest.

Only 1 character has appeared in every season of The White Lotus so far
Image
I don't know if I'm a big dummy, not a true fan of The White Lotus, or what, but I just realized there actually has been one character who has appeared in all three seasons of The White Lotus so far.

Originally, I was thinking Belinda, played Natasha Rockwell, and Gary/Greg, played by Jon Gries, were the only characters to make repeat appearances. Then, it hit me! Gary/Greg has made an appearance in every season of the series, which means Jon Gries is the only actor to appear in all three seasons.

If that's not a Jeopardy! answer in the next few months, I'm going to be upset and hurt.

For those who don't recall, we met Greg way back in The White Lotus season 1 in Hawaii. During that season, he meets Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), and they "fall in love" to the point that Tanya abandons her plan...

"She Never Agrees To Go Into Business With Pornchai": Natasha Rothwell Defends Belinda's 'The White Lotus' Season 3 Ending
Image
For consecutive finales, The White Lotus ends with someone becoming a millionaire overnight, through unscrupulous means. Greg, aka Gary (Jon Gries), inherited a half a billion dollar fortune from his ship heiress wife, Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), after plotting her death in Season 2. The expert swindler returned in Season 3 as a fugitive hiding out in a swanky hilltop mansion in Koh Samui. This season also welcomed the return of another familiar face in Belinda (Natasha Rothwell), whose training retreat leads her to recognize Greg as the man who killed her would-be business partner. In a twist of fate, Belinda makes a deal with the devil (Greg), leaving the resort $5 million richer. Some fans have criticized the character's ending, likening it to her Season 1 experience with Tanya, but Rothwell begs to differ.

When Greg was named among the returning characters in Season 3, fans theorized that his arc would set him up for his comeuppance.

'The White Lotus' Season 3 Fans Can Be Guests in Greg’s Hilltop Mansion on Airbnb
Image
The White Lotus Season 3 has come and gone, and once again, the Emmy-winning anthology series delivered another spectacular TV experience. Set against the lush, tropical beauty of Koh Samui, Thailand, the season was a feast for the eyes and is unarguably the most visually stunning setting yet. While the fictional titular resort (set in Four Seasons Koh Samui) remained the centerpiece, the show made ample use of the island’s natural beauty, venturing into other corners of the secluded island. One jaw-dropping location stood out: a swanky, hilltop mansion owned by Greg, played by Jon Gries, where a key Episode 6 shocker played out. The plush abode, known in real life as Samujana Twenty-Seven, is now available to rent on Airbnb. So, if you’ve ever wanted to sip cocktails in true White Lotus style, minus the chaos and body count, this might just be your moment.

Since being revealed...

Every Season Of The White Lotus, Ranked
Image
This article contains spoilers for all three seasons of "The White Lotus," including the season 3 finale "Amor Fati."

In 2022, after season 2 of "The White Lotus" wrapped up, creator, writer, and director Mike White spoke in a post-finale featurette (via Variety) about how each season of the series has a different theme. "The first season kind of highlighted money, and then the second season is sex," White said at the time. "I think the third season would be maybe a satirical and funny look at death and Eastern religion and spirituality. It feels like it could be a rich tapestry to do another round at White Lotus."

Now that the third season is complete, we know that it's precisely what White did, exploring themes of revenge, family, and spirituality through deeply flawed characters like Piper Ratliff (Sarah Catherine Hook), who plans to move to a monastery there before abruptly changing her...

The White Lotus Season 3: 5 Best & 5 Worst Characters
Image
This article features spoilers for the entire third season of "The White Lotus."

The third season of Mike White's supposed anthology series "The White Lotus" is done and dusted, and now we know where everybody ended up. Specifically, we know who was on the receiving end of the gunshots we heard from afar in the season premiere: Hotel owner "Big Jim" Hollinger (Scott Glenn) fell first, followed by Rick Hatchett (Walton Goggins) and his young girlfriend Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) — but we also know what happened to everybody else, including the Ratliff family from North Carolina, the employees of the Thailand location of the fictional White Lotus, and everybody else.

Even if season 3 ultimately reached a sort of unsatisfying conclusion in this writer's opinion, I'll say this: Mike White is excellent at creating characters from whole cloth who feel real, flawed, and infuriating, and I did have to leave...

Jon Gries on Greg’s Sexual Fantasies and His ‘White Lotus’ Season 3 Ending: ‘I Don’t Know if There’s Ever Going to Be a Resolution’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for Season 3 finale of “The White Lotus,” now streaming on Max.

When Mike White called him, asking if he’d return to “The White Lotus” for a third season in Thailand, Jon Gries said, “I’m available anytime, anywhere. You name it, I’m there.”

But unlike his trips to Hawaii and Sicily, Gries’ involvement in Season 3 required an extreme level of secrecy. At the start of production, he flew to Thailand disguised in a hat, dark sunglasses and a Covid mask, and made it to set undetected. But that was only the beginning.

“When I finally got to Thailand, the first thing I wanted to do was meet my castmates,” Gries tells Variety. “Everybody likes to feel each other out, because we’re all in this thing together.”

He’d get invited to hang out with the cast and crew before executive producer...

White Lotus' Recurring Star Talks Possible Return in Season 4
Image
The White Lotusstar Jon Gries discusses what he knows about a potential return in Season 4.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Gries touched on his character Greg Hunt's journey from the beginning of Season 1 to the end of Season 3. When asked what he thought of co-star Charlotte Le Bon's notion that he is the most likely cast member to return for a fourth season of The White Lotus, Gries replied, "Well, you never know." Gries added, "She’s cagey. She's from Montreal."

"But there’s no trying to predict anything Mike White does," Gries continued, referencing the hit series' creator/writer/director. "I never presumed I’d be in Season 2. Same for Season 3. Everything he does has an element of surprise to it. Yes, I would love to come back. But does the book on Greg seem like it’s complete? I can’t tell you."

Fans weigh in on ‘The White Lotus’ ending: Carrie Coon gets her flowers, but finale panned for ‘predictable twists throughout’
Image
The third season of The White Lotus ended on Sunday night with a record 6.2 million viewers watching the finale live on HBO and Max. (That's a 51 percent jump over the previous season's finale.) During and after the 90-minute episode, the Gold Derby forums were abuzz with comments good and bad, with people giving a specific shout-out to one actor who they thought got an Emmy boost. They also reacted to some of the show's various twists, and sounded off about the Season 4 location rumors.

Carrie Coon appreciation

Following the finale, Carrie Coon skyrocketed up Gold Derby's Emmy chart for Best Drama Supporting Actress. Her character, Laurie, delivered an emotional monologue in which she declared, "I have no belief system," which instantly went viral on social media. As a result, Allison Janney (The Diplomat) dropped to second place in our rankings, with The White Lotus costar Parker Posey as Victoria remaining in third.

Natasha Rothwell on Belinda’s ‘White Lotus’ Face-Off With Greg and Season 4 Ideas: ‘I Want to Know What It’s Like to Have the Power Over a White Man’
Image
Spoiler Alert: This story contains spoilers for the Season 3 finale of “The White Lotus,” now streaming on Max.

Belinda is safe!

Being the only guest at the White Lotus who knows about the history of murders at the resort chain, things have looked dicey for Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) all season long. A fan-favorite returning character from Season 1 of “The White Lotus,” she knew she recognized Greg (Jon Gries) as soon as she spotted him in Thailand. Seeing him reminded her of Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge), the rich woman who’d promised Belinda she would financially support her spa — but then backed out of it in Season 1. When she googled Tanya’s name, she realized that Greg had married her and that she had died shortly after, meaning Belinda was in big trouble.

After hearing from hotel manager Fabian (Christian Friedel) that Greg had been asking after her whereabouts, Belinda rightfully began to fear for her safety,...

‘White Lotus’ Cast Says These Characters Could Return for Season 4
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from The White Lotus season three finale, “Amor Fati.”]

Season three may have ended in excessive bloodshed, but The White Lotus will continue.

Ahead of Sunday’s season supersized finale, The Hollywood Reporter asked the cast which actor (or character) is most likely to return, as Jon Gries (Greg/Gary) has twice already. Unsurprisingly, Gries was the most common answer.

“Jon is like the barnacle of The White Lotus ship, he stays around,” notes Natasha Rothwell (Belinda). And Walton Goggins (Rick) agrees: “Obviously Jon. It feels like Jon is going to be in every season. Sorry if I gave that away,” he says, and then insists he doesn’t have any kind of inside track.

Gries, for his part, has no idea whether the character will be back, just as he had no idea that he’d be returning for season two or season three. In fact, Greg/Gary was originally supposed to be in the body bag season one.

‘The White Lotus’: Things We’re Still Wondering After the Season 3 Finale
Image
All told, White Lotus showrunner Mike White expertly wrapped up his season three storylines, from the Ratliffs to the Toxic Trio (who weren’t so toxic after all).

Sunday’s 90-minute finale concluded with a mix of triumph (Belinda’s $5 million payday), tragedy (the Greek tragedy of doomed lovers Rick and Chelsea), spiritual evolution (the Ratliffs finding a sort of peace) and workplace redemption (Gaitok).

Yet there were a few story agenda items that were left unresolved — intentionally, sure, and perhaps even correctly, but arguably less-than-satisfyingly.

The first and biggest: denying viewers Victoria Ratliff’s (Parker Posey) reaction to her husband’s (Jason Isaacs) downfall.

All season, Timothy had been shielding his family from the devastating reality that he is going to lose his job, go to jail, and leave them potentially scandalized and destitute. Posey has been a scene-stealing, meme-able delight all season, and how she might react to...

Natasha Rothwell Shares Her Take on Her ‘White Lotus’ Ending, Which Mike White Planned After Jennifer Coolidge’s Departure
Image
[This story contains major spoilers from The White Lotus season three finale, “Amor Fati.”]

The first thing White Lotus creator Mike White knew about season three was how it was going to end.

“The ending was kinda the first thing I really thought of — Belinda leaving with money and leaving somebody in the same way she got left [in the first season],” said White, who wrote and directed season three finale “Amor Fati,” on the The White Lotus Official Podcast after the episode released Sunday night. The supersized 90-minute season ender brought Natasha Rothwell’s character full circle, as she essentially becomes Tanya, the deceased fan-favorite character played by Jennifer Coolidge. Or does she become Greg, Tanya’s ex-husband who orchestrated the murder (played by returning star Jon Gries)?

Rothwell was asked that question in a separate interview for the HBO show’s official podcast that also released after Sunday night’s finale.

“Maybe she’s a little bit of both,...

The White Lotus' Greg Actor Jon Gries Reveals the Text Mike White Sent Him Ahead of Season 2 to Let Him Know His Character's New Intentions
Image
The White Lotus season three just wrapped up with its explosive finale, and one of the show’s stars, Jon Gries, is speaking out his character Greg’s return, his character’s arc, and more.

In season one, Greg was portrayed as a dying man who happened to meet Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge) and start up a romantic vacation entanglement.

Keep reading to find out more…

Jon confirmed in season one, he didn’t know the arc he was going to go on, telling THR, “That was a lot of the inspiration behind my characterization, that he was this guy living life minute by minute [in season 1]. His whole attitude about everything is, ‘I’m not going to sweat anything. I’m just going to have a good time.’ No matter how deep Tanya’s drama would go, it was as if he had found that elevated kind of spirituality… enjoy life while you’re here,...

Season 3 of Mike White's Emmy-winning hit wrapped up on April 6 with the show's deadliest finale yet. If you're done processing those deaths and Lochlan (Sam Nivola) not cleaning out a blender that sat out overnight, you're probably ready to RSVP to a fourth White Lotus resort.

So what's going on with Season 4? Here's everything we know so far.

Has The White Lotus been renewed for Season 4?

‘The White Lotus’ Longest-Running Guest Speaks: Jon Gries on How Things Panned Out for Greg
Image
[This story contains spoilers from The White Lotus season three finale, “Amor Fati”.]

The White Lotus is a shell game. And going into Sunday’s season three finale, all eyes were on Greg (Jon Gries) to have at least something to do with the teased carnage. But the only thing he dispatched was 1 percent of his fortune — giving Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) a very handsome direct deposit of $5 million in exchange for her and son Zion’s (Nicholas Duvernay) silence over the suspicious death (read: murder) of his late wife, Tanya (Jennifer Coolidge).

Viewers hoping for some comeuppance will just have to keep dreaming. Not only did Greg buy some silence, it looks like he got his wish for himself and girlfriend Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon). After she unsuccessfully pitched Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) on a cuckholding three-way with oedipal undertones in episode seven, a suitable partner seemed to be selected just before the credits rolled on the season finale.

‘The White Lotus’ Season 3 Wraps with Bloody Violence and Shakespearean Tragedy
Image
[Editor’s Note: The following review contains spoilers for “The White Lotus” Season 3, Episode 8, “Amor Fati.”]

“The White Lotus” did warn us: Violence begets violence.

In the Season 3 finale of Mike White’s treacherous drama, cycles of violence take center stage as they spin on, end, or reroute in terrifying directions. Once again, a few days in paradise has left these characters changed forever — at least the ones who survived.

After conceding that he isn’t a violent man, Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong) finds himself at a crossroads. On one side, there is nonviolence, his Buddhist upbringing, and leaving the job he takes such pride in to pursue other avenues; in the other direction, accepting the option or at least the reality of violence will further his current career, and possibly his relationship with Lisa Manobal’s Mook, who is weirdly rigid about his options. There is a sense that her interest hinges up his machismo and his job title,...
