Prime Video is now streaming Rescue Dawn, Werner Herzog's 2006 epic war drama. Based on the true story of German-American pilot Dieter Dengler (played by Christian Bale), the film depicted Dengler's ordeal after being captured in Laos during the Vietnam War. Herzog previously recounted Dengler's story in Little Dieter Needs to Fly, which detailed the suffering Dengler's fellow prisoners endured, including torture. Paramount is keeping The Good Fight around for another season.

The streamer on Tuesday announced an early renewal for The Good Fight Season 6, just four episodes into The Good Fight Season 5.

New episodes of the 10-episode current season air weekly on Thursdays, exclusively for Paramount+ subscribers.

“The Good Fight's provocative, whip smart, and no-holds-barred world remains as relevant as ever, continuing to entice new audiences as one of Paramount+'s top performing original series and acquisition drivers," said Nicole Clemens, President, Paramount+ Original Scripted Series.

“We are thrilled to continue The Good Fight’s enduring legacy with a sixth season and can't wait to see what the brilliant minds behind the series, Robert and Michelle King, tackle next."

News of the renewal comes about midway through the show’s fifth season. The first four episodes of Season 5 are currently streaming on Paramount Plus, with the fifth episode set to air on July 22.

The two-minute promo (embedded above) teases more of the legal drama’s slightly absurdist storytelling, including the addition of Mandy Patinkin’s peculiar new judge, appropriately named Hal Wackner. When Hal decides to open his own courtroom in the back of a copy shop — a venture he describes as Little Rascals-esque — Marissa (Sarah Steele) and the firm become entangled with Hal’s endeavor, which looks even more bizarre than it sounds.

The fourth season was cut short by three episodes due to the Covid-19 production shutdown, preventing closure on the storylines for both characters.

Jumbo said at the time of her departure that she hoped to return to conclude her character Lucca’s storyline.

“Due to the pandemic forcing us to shut down early we weren’t able to wrap up Lucca’s story fully and so I hope if schedules allow I can return next season to do that,” Jumbo said last year.

Exclusive: The Good Fight is getting a high-profile new cast addition for Season 5. Emmy and Tony winner Mandy Patinkin (Homeland) is joining the praised Paramount+ drama series as a series regular with a one-year deal.

Patinkin will play Hal Wackner, a layman with no legal training who spontaneously decides to open a court in the back of a copy shop. Against all odds, the court catches on, and the team at Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart find themselves contending with judgements that mean nothing legally, but are honored by much of the entertained public.

This marks Patinkin’s return to television following his eight-season run as CIA vet Saul Berenson on Showtime’s Homeland, which landed him a Golden Globe nomination and four out of his seven Emmy nominations. Patinkin won an Emmy and a Golden Globe for his role as Dr. Jeffrey Geiger on CBS’ Chicago Hope.

Ray Donovan fans will, after all, get a satisfactory ending to their favorite Showtime series.

The fixer is returning in a feature-length film, which will pick up where season seven left off after its surprise cancellation last year.

Liev Schreiber will return as Donovan and will co-write the script with series showrunner David Hollander, who will direct. Jon Voight will also reprise his role as Mickey Donovan, as will Kerris Dorsey as Ray’s daughter Bridget.

Production is tentatively scheduled to begin later this year in New York.

It comes after Showtime made the surprise decision to end the series in February 2020 with its seventh season. Hollander admitted that the show’s creative team had been blindsided by the decision and Schreiber took to social media to promise that “there will be more Ray Donovan”. The actor has kept his promise.

Exclusive: Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart has made a new attorney hire. Charmaine Bingwa (Black Box) is joining the cast of CBS All Access/Paramount+’s drama The Good Fight as a series regular in the upcoming fifth season.

She will play Carmen Moyo, a tough, unsentimental, young lawyer whose working-class background allows her to bond with Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart’s most infamous, difficult clients.

“We are thrilled that Charmaine is bringing her enormous talents to The Good Fight ensemble,” co-creators/executive producers Michelle and Robert King said. “The moment that we saw her audition, we knew that we had found our Carmen, and we can’t wait to start writing for her in Season 5.”

Bingwa is expected to fill the void left by the departure of original cast member Cush Jumbo who, along with fellow original star Delroy Lindo, exited as series regulars at the end of Season 4.

Trump’s inauguration aghast, but also proved kismet for the series, which fast became the most incisive political satire of the Trump era. With Trump’s tenure now ended, will Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild voters finally honor this delightfully bonkers legal thriller with first-ever nominations?

Although perennially overlooked at the Primetime Emmy Awards, “The Good Fight” has been a mainstay at the Critics’ Choice Awards. All 22,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until July 13 to cast their 2020 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs (save for animated documentary/nonfiction which are restricted to their peer groups). Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. In the past, voters were limited in the number of programs that they could put forth. Three years ago that cap (which was usually 10 per category) was lifted.

While there has been an explosion in the number of comedy and drama series recently, the limited series genre had been almost static. There were 25 entries in 2015, 26 in 2016 and 25 again in 2017. But there has been an uptick as of late, with 33 such shows submitted in 2018, 35 last year and 41 for this awards cycle. Even so, with five nominees for Best Limited Series, the odds for each of the entries detailed below is pretty good.

CBS All Access has made the season 4 premiere of The Good Fight available for free as part of its Emmy Fyc campaign. The episode will be available for streaming on YouTube until July 15.
