Who doesn’t love a horror anthology? There’s something inherently reassuring about multiple stories in a single package. If you don’t like the segment you’re watching, there’s another one on the way. With that said, some anthology efforts feature a crowd-pleasing lineup of vignettes with no missteps in sight. Such a feature exists in the 1995 horror anthology Tales from the Hood. But somehow, this effective effort remains relatively unsung outside of its small but dedicated fan base.

If you are among the uninducted, we have good news to share: Tales from the Hood is now streaming on Tubi. If you opt to check the film out, you’ll surely be taken with the picture’s penchant for entertaining storylines steeped in social commentary. This is a film that’s both engaging and profound. In a sense, this is elevated horror from a time before that terminology was commonplace.

I love John Landis. I know not everyone shares this opinion. He has been controversial ever since his involvement in the Twilight Zone: The Movie accident that claimed the lives of his leading man, Vic Morrow, and co-stars Myca Dinh Le and Shin-Yi Chen, both of whom were children. It’s an impossible discussion to have in any kind of satisfying way here; there was an entire book written about it (Outrageous Conduct by Stephen Farber and Marc Green) and a lengthy court case at the end of which Landis was absolved of legal responsibility. After more than 20 years, Tales From the Hood 2 is finally happening. The horror anthology genre has come and gone over the years, but it's delivered its fair share of cult classics in the decades that the sub-genre has been around. One such cult classic is 1995's Tales From the Hood. Now, director Rusty Cundieff has revealed that a sequel is in the works. Though, he may have jumped the gun a bit.

The director took to Twitter recently to make the reveal that Tales From the Hood 2 is currently in development. In a tweet, that has since been deleted, indicating that he spilled the beans on the sequel a bit too early, the director revealed an image from his location scouting with the caption, "In New Orleans location scouting for Tales From The Hood 2 This is part of Anne Rice's old Home and where she held her LeStat parties.

Beginning April 18th, Scream Factory invites viewers back into the Simms' Funeral Home to experience the 1995 horror anthology Tales From the Hood like never before with their new Collector's Edition Blu-ray release, and we've been provided with three copies to give away to lucky Daily Dead readers.
