The cast of The Blair Witch Project released a joint statement detailing what they would like to see from Lionsgate in light of the recently announced news of a Blair Witch reboot. Joshua Leonard, Michael C. Williams, and Rei Hance (formerly Heather Donahue), who starred in the original film back in 1999, released an open letter to the company via Instagram on April 20, 2024, just nine days after a post from Leonard went viral. MovieWeb was first to report on Leonard's post, in which he said, "It’s 25 years of disrespect from the folks who’ve pocketed the lion’s share (pun intended) of the profits from Our work, and that feels both icky and classless."

But when actor Scott Bailey's publicist sent us an essay that he'd written about his experience playing the boyfriend of Bobby Griffith in the true-life tearjerker Prayers for Bobby, that's pretty much what happened.

Sigourney Weaver hopes her first TV movie will help gay teens come out to their parents.

In Prayers for Bobby, the Alien star plays the real-life mother of tragic gay youth Bobby Griffith, who committed suicide in the 1970s after his religious parents spent years trying to 'cure' him.

Weaver claims Leroy Aaron's book of the same name, from which her new film was adapted, has become a tool some gay youngsters use to help their parents come to terms with their child's sexuality - and she hopes her movie also helps.

She tells TV Guide magazine, "Prayers For Bobby is the book kids give their parents when they come out. This (film) will be another way for them to sit down with your family and say, 'I have something to talk to you about. Let's watch a Sigourney Weaver movie.'

"There are no aliens in it, there are no ghostbusters, but it gets them in the room."

Weaver visited Mary Griffith, who she portrays in the film, and admits it was a very emotional day.

She adds, "You feel Bobby's presence in their house."

And the actress is impressed with the woman her character has become in real life.

She explains, "They (family) thought that they were doing the right thing - they felt they were saving him and his soul.

"She (Griffith) goes from thinking Bobby's death is God's will to feeling responsible, and finally talking to parents so they won't lose their gay children to this kind of terrible ignorance."...
