Update, 4:24 Pm: Extraction producer David Guillod is not going to be charged with sexual assault, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said today.

“After an extensive review of the evidence by the Sex Crimes Division, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office has determined that the Office is unable to prove sexual assault allegations against David Guillod beyond a reasonable doubt,” Nathan Hochman’s office announced.

The Friday afternoon news dump by Da Hochman comes more than four years after Guillod was arrested by the LAPD on October 28, 2020, for an alleged sexual assault a week before. At the time of that arrest, the Atomic Blonde producer was facing 11 felony counts in Santa Barbara on multiple charges of sexual assault. That case, which involved an alleged attack on Ted actress Jessica Berth and another woman, was dismissed in June 2022. After that, the cases of two of Guillod’s accusers moved to LA County,...

Eric Weinberg, an Emmy-nominated Hollywood writer and co-executive producer on “Scrubs” and “Californication,” was arrested Thursday on multiple sexual assault charges for rapes dating back to 2012 and possibly much earlier, the LAPD said.

According to an arrest report, Weinberg approached young women in grocery stores, coffee shops and other public places, saying he was a photographer who wanted to set up photo shoots. Once the women came to his Los Feliz residence, he would sexually assault them at some point during the process, police said.

Reps for Weinberg did not immediately respond to requests for comment Thursday. The report identifies him as a “serial assault suspect” and are asking for additional potential victims to come forward.

Sexual assault charges against David Guillod, the Hollywood producer of films such as “Atomic Blonde” and “Extraction,” have been dismissed by a Santa Barbara judge on Tuesday.

The charges against the producer included an alleged 2012 attack of “Ted” actress Jessica Barth and another incident involving an unnamed waitress from 2018 who claimed she was raped.

But the Santa Barbara district attorney’s office was forced to drop the charges Tuesday after it was unable to show whether the attacks happened within the Da’s jurisdiction. The case will now be referred back to the Los Angeles district attorney’s office.

A judge in Santa Maria, Calif., on Tuesday dismissed a rape case against film producer David Guillod, weeks after another judge threw out most of the charges against him.

Guillod was accused of raping or sexually assaulting six women, including actress Jessica Barth. But after a 10-day preliminary hearing in May, Judge James K. Voysey found that the accusations of four of the women were not credible enough to go to trial.

Voysey took note of text messages in which one alleged victim said, after the alleged rape, that she was looking forward to “dinner and some cuddles” with Guillod. Another alleged victim, Guillod’s assistant, was seen flirting with him and cuddling with him the day after the alleged rape.

“Those behaviors tell the court she didn’t think she was raped the night before,” Voysey said at the hearing on May 23. “She would never have done those things.

David Guillod was ordered to stand trial for sex-assault charges linked to allegations made against the “Atomic Blonde” producer by two women, but a judge determined there was insufficient evidence for charges linked to four others.

Guillod could have faced more than 20 felony charges for assorted crimes against six women, who said they were assaulted or raped while drugged or intoxicated between 2012 and 2020. Charges include rape, kidnapping for rape, and rape of a drugged person.

Two of those cases will go forward. But Santa Maria Superior Court Judge James Voysey on Monday ruled that some of the women’s actions and statements didn’t add up.

David Guillod has been accused yet again of assault, this time by an unnamed woman who said the Hollywood producer attacked her when they were in high school.

According to a lawsuit filed on Thursday in New Jersey, the woman (who only identified herself as Jane Doe) said she encountered Guillod at a party in 1985, when she was 16 and he was 18. The woman said that she believed Guillod was intoxicated while at the party.

In the lawsuit, Doe said she talked to Guillod for about 10 minutes. A short time later, she decided to walk home and said that Guillod offered to walk her home.

Just 4 months after pleading guilty to 11 still-pending charges of sexual assault, producer and talent manager David Guillod has been arrested again after facing a new accusation of assault.

LAPD did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But according to the Los Angeles Times, on Oct. 21 an unnamed woman accused Guillod of sexually assaulting her during “an evening meeting.”

According to Ktla in Los Angeles, Guillod was taken into custody Wednesday morning. And the LA Times reports that he was arrested without incident and is being held on $5 million bail.

His attorney, Phillip Kent Cohen, did not immediately respond to requests for comment from TheWrap.

Just over 24 hours after David Guillod surrendered to authorities over sexual assault charges, the Extraction executive producer has entered a plea of not guilty and been released on $1 million bail.

Looking at more than 20 years in prison if found guilty on the 11 felony charges, including kidnapping to commit rape, Guillod is in the process of leaving the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s HQ, where he spent the night.

A judge ruled in favor of “Criminal Minds” star A.J. Cook on Monday is her dispute with her former attorneys, who said they were entitled to 5 percent of her payments from the hit CBS drama.

Cook argued that attorney Neil Meyer and his firm, Meyer & Downs, raised their fee from 2.5 percent per episode of “Criminal Minds” to 5 percent without her agreement, and that her then-manager, David Guillod, arranged for the increased payments to be made to Meyer & Downs without her consent.

Less than four years after Primary Wave, known at the time mostly for its music business, made a big push in talent management with the back-to-back acquisitions of Mark Burg’s Evolution Management and David Guillod’s Intellectual Artists Management, the company is scaling back on Hollywood representation to focus on its core music management business as well as film and TV development and production via Cathy Schulman’s Welle Entertainment.

Of the three principals of the merged Primary Wave Entertainment talent management division, Primary Wave co-CEOs Larry Mestel, Guillod and Burg, only Mestel is still there, running the company as CEO. Guillod resigned in November in the wake of sexual assault allegations. I hear Burg, who had managed Charlie Sheen for 20 years, left soon after to return to producing. A large number of the remaining Pwe managers have left in the past seven months or are in the process of leaving.

Not to be confused with Steven Soderbergh’s award-winning film or the acclaimed miniseries upon which it was based, “Traffik” is a thriller about human trafficking that mistakes an overwrought story for an important one.

Writer-director Deon Taylor (“Meet the Blacks”) touches upon some interesting and even occasionally relevant ideas in his film about an investigative reporter and the biker gang that will stop at nothing to protect its secrets, but even the fierce dedication of Paula Patton and Omar Epps doesn’t make those ideas coalesce into more than window dressing for the tawdry thriller they’re hung upon.

Patton plays Brea, an investigative reporter who learns on her birthday that the story she’s been working on for months was scooped by a fellow reporter at the behest of her editor, and subsequently she may soon lose her job. “Nothing takes months,” argues Mr. Waynewright (William Fichtner).

John (Epps), her mechanic boyfriend, attempts to divert her attention by planning a weekend getaway at a palatial chateau in the mountains for the two of them, where he plans to propose. En route they stop at a gas station where Brea encounters a mysterious young woman named Cara (Dawn Olivieri, “Bright”) in the bathroom, while John has a violent encounter with some bikers that’s thankfully interrupted by the arrival of the local sheriff (Missi Pyle).

Shaken by their experiences but thrilled at the prospect of some alone time, Brea and John arrive at the house, and John plots the right moment to pop the question. But not long after christening the infinity pool, they’re joined by The Worst Friends In The World, Malia (Roselyn Sanchez, “Devious Maids”) and Darren (Laz Alonso), who crash their romantic getaway, and thanks to their own relationship problems, instigate a rift between the two lovers.

Before peace can be restored, however, Brea discovers a satellite phone in her bag containing dozens of photos of young women. Recognizing the images as evidence of human trafficking, Brea insists they call the authorities; but when Cara turns up at the front door of their house, backed by some of the bikers and asking for the phone, the vacationers are forced to work together to escape the clutches of their invaders before becoming the next victims in what they soon discover is a multifaceted network of criminal activities.

It’s kind of hard to know where to begin with what’s wrong in “Traffik,” a movie where every scene takes about twice as long as it feels like it should, and the characters far too often make an escalating series of implausible and/or stupid decisions. Brea certainly wins audience (or at least reporters’) sympathies early by clashing with her editor over journalistic integrity at the possible cost of her job, but how then can she be so naïve, not to mention inert, when a very clearly drug-addled woman looks plaintively at her during a fleeting moment of privacy between them that gets interrupted by a menacing biker? “I didn’t want to butt in” is her later rationale, but the scene goes on far too long for it not to be abundantly clear what this poor woman needs, much less for her not to even ask, “Are you Ok?”

Meanwhile, even if John feels like a perfectly understated partner for her, why in the hell are they friends — like, “go out together for Brea’s birthday dinner” friends — with Malia and especially Darren? In less than two minutes, he denigrates John’s job, almost spoils his surprise proposal, and defends openly ogling the waitress to John in front of his own wife.

And that’s before he shows up at their vacation house a day early, accuses Brea of wanting to report the phone to the authorities “to get a scoop,” and then inexplicably dredges up some old romantic business that occurred before she ever met John. Alonso is a charismatic actor, but there’s rakish and there’s just being an asshole, and as the unfortunate catalyst for a lot of superfluous drama, Darren is unmoored from anything remotely believable, or likable.

Patton serves double duty as a producer on the film and it’s clear she believed in this story, or at least what telling it could do for her credibility as an actor. But evidenced both by her successes (“Déjà Vu,” “Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol”) and failures (“Baggage Claim”), she needs a strong director who will shape her deep feelings into something compelling and coherent, and Taylor seems either preoccupied by the importance of his story, or so wowed by the volume of what she is doing on screen that he never bothers to do more than sort of watch, astonished.

It isn’t that Patton doesn’t deliver something interesting, it’s that it’s assembled so clumsily that all of her shivering and hesitation dominates the moments of decisiveness and strength that should have made an impression.

Any good reporter knows not to come up with a thesis and then look for evidence to support it, but rather to follow a story and see where it leads you. Like Brea’s, Taylor’s heart is in the right place, but they both need to learn how to focus, and both could probably also use a better editor. But then again, who can blame Taylor for luxuriating in the dynamic, nightmarish images he captures with the help of the great cinematographer Dante Spinotti? The two of them work effectively together to create a sense of ominousness and vulnerability that lifts the film more than it deserves.

That said, those imaginative flourishes don’t always match with the performances, or the musical choices — including a gobsmacking use of Nina Simone’s “Strange Fruit” during a scene of human trafficking — but Taylor definitely has an eye for intriguing juxtapositions. It’s just a shame that too many of them in “Traffik” are bad ones.

Mergers typically require both parties to disclose any potential liabilities.
