Biography

    • Jan Guillou is arguably the best-known writer and journalist in Sweden. He wrote 10 books about Swedish agent Hamilton, and a follow up to the Hamilton series, called Hamlon, in a very limited edition. But his best book is "Ondskan", which he wrote in 1981. It is about a young man called Erik. It's a self biography, Erik is Jan. Jan Guillou was in a Swedish prison for 10 months in the 70s. He had exposed the Swedish intelligence force allegedly doing something illegal.

  • When director Mikael Håfström, who worked with him on the movie Evil (2003) based on his book, refused to give both him and lead actor Andreas Wilson their tickets to the Academy Awards, he responded by closing down his production company, Moviola, ending his and Håfström's plan to bring his books about the medieval hero Arn to the screen.
  • He attended law school during a short period in the 1960s but decided to pursue a career in journalism instead.
