Seinfeld's Larry David Is Unrecognizable In This Hilarious, Star-Studded HBO Movie
Image
For as long as he's been a comedian, Larry David has had one look: slightly disheveled, with a ring of curly hair around a bald dome, big circular glasses, and a penchant for offending people over minor inconveniences. This look has been remarkably consistent since he was a young man, and while I haven't seen any photos of him as a baby, I choose to believe he was born looking like the textbook definition of "curmudgeon."

This comedic persona is just an act, at least according to his longtime friend and "Seinfeld" co-creator Jerry Seinfeld, but the look certainly is not. His penchant for blazers and cashmere sweaters has turned him into an unlikely style icon, thanks in part to how consistently he composes his look both on screen in his hilarious HBO series "Curb Your Enthusiasm" and off-screen in interviews. Because he sports the same look day in and day out,...

Pete Davidson Shares Why 'SNL50' Audience Was 'Terrible' - Watch Now!
Image
Pete Davidson is looking back at attending the SNL50: The Anniversary Special.

Back in February, the NBC sketch comedy series celebrated its 50th anniversary with a star-studded show with guests in attendance including Emma Stone, Jerry Seinfeld, Kim Kardashian, Seth Rogen, Lady Gaga, and many more.

While appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Wednesday (August 6), Pete shared why the audience was “terrible.”

Keep reading to find out more…“As you know from SNL40 — terrible audience,” Pete told Seth. “It’s a terrible audience ’cause it’s just famous people, and famous people only like themselves.”

As the Late Night show audience began to laugh, Pete doubled down on his claim, and said, “It’s true! I’m guilty of this!”

Seth agreed with the Bupkis actor’s statement, before making fun of him for being “the only one laughing” in the audience while watching a pre-taped sketch that...

Bill Hader Reveals The Truth About His SNL 50 Absence
Image
For Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary, past and present cast members reunited to celebrate the monumental milestone, but a few notable stars were missing, including Bill Hader. Hader served as a cast member on the NBC late-night sketch comedy variety series for eight seasons, from 2005 to 2013. He undoubtedly left his mark on the show, but he still didn't attend "SNL50."

Hader was a guest on Late Night with Seth Meyers, where he discussed his "SNL50: The Anniversary Special" absence with his former co-star. During the interview, Meyers asked him about why he chose to sit out of the celebration. According to Hader, his anxiety was the reason. Hader then opened up more about his anxiety throughout his time on SNL. He said:

"I was really shaky and everything. I was really anxious. And you were, like, so calm! I remember, we did those [primetime specials] that were at 8:00. I remember...

Bill Hader Reveals Why He Skipped ‘SNL50’
Image
Bill Hader was one of a handful of iconic Saturday Night Live stars that missed the 50th anniversary.

Hader, who was on the NBC show between 2005 and 2013, revealed on Late Night with Seth Meyers it was as a result of his anxiety.

Meyers said, “You were very open and honest after you left SNL, about the anxiety you had when you were working there. Then, for the SNL 50th, I think people were obviously at first disappointed you weren’t coming, but that was the reason. I sort of celebrated your choice.”

Hader revealed that Andy Samberg called him to talk him into doing a sketch about how everybody had anxiety. “When he told me about it, I [said], ‘I don’t know if I want to do that.’ He [said], ‘Why?’ and I’m like, ‘Because I’m anxious’.”

“I was really shaky,” he added before revealing that Bowen Yang took his place in the sketch.

Bill Hader joked about the numerous afflictions and anxiety-induced maladies he suffered while a cast member on Saturday Night Live during a new interview with his old coworker, Seth Meyers, on Late Night.

Hader has spoken before about how anxious he was during his time on the show, and this was ostensibly part of the reason he chose not to participate in the SNL 50 special earlier this year. Bill Hader Reveals Reason Why He Skipped 'SNL50,' Turned Down Andy Samberg Sketch
Image
Bill Hader is explaining why he skipped SNL50, the sketch comedy show’s fiftieth anniversary event that was incredibly star-studded.

In fact, only four past cast members ended up skipping the show, which took place in February.

Keep reading to find out more…

While appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, he explained further.

Bill said, “Andy [Samberg] called me and was like, ‘Hey, so we’re doing this short about how, you know, everybody had anxiety…’ And when he told me that, I was like, ‘I don’t know if I want to do that.’ “He’s like, ‘Why?’ And I’m like, ‘Because I’m anxious. I don’t want to do it.’”

“You were never [anxious],” he noted to Seth Meyers about their time on the late night variety show. “You were so calm. You guys went out there, and I was, like, trembling, anxious… And something went wrong,...

Bill Hader Reveals Anxiety Kept Him From Participating in ‘SNL50’ Sketch
Image
Bill Hader was among the handful of Saturday Night Live alumni who did not attend the show’s 50th anniversary special earlier this year.

And appearing on Late Night With Seth Meyers Tuesday night, Hader and fellow SNL alum Meyers indicated his anxiety, which Hader has been open about having, was responsible for his absence.

“You were very open and honest after you left SNL, about the anxiety you had when you were working there,” Meyers said to Hader on Tuesday’s Late Night. “And then, for the SNL 50th [anniversary], I think people were obviously at first disappointed you weren’t coming, but that was the reason. And I sort of celebrated your choice.”

The SNL50 special even featured a digital short about the prevalence of castmembers having anxiety, which Hader said he was asked to participate in.

“Andy [Samberg] called me and was like, ‘Hey, so we’re doing this short about how,...

Bill Hader Turned Down ‘SNL50’ Sketch ‘Because I’m Anxious,’ Says His Anxiety Leads to Shingles, Migraines and Vision Loss
Image
Bill Hader has finally revealed the real reason he skipped the “Saturday Night Live” 50th anniversary show, saying his crippling anxiety prevented him from participating in the primetime special. (A representative for Hader previously told Variety he had a “longstanding scheduling conflict.”)

On “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” Hader revealed that Andy Samberg called him about an idea for a digital short about how everyone at “SNL” has anxiety. Hader said he wasn’t sure he wanted to be in the sketch, and when Samberg asked why, Hader responded: “Because I’m anxious!”

Hader said Bowen Yang ended up playing the part Samberg had conceived for him, and “he was great.”

“I was really shaky and everything. I was really anxious,” Hader said of his time on the NBC sketch comedy show. Hader was an “SNL” cast member from 2005 to 2013, and he came back to host twice. In the years since,...

Bill Hader Finally Confesses Why He Skipped ‘SNL50’
Image
The final mystery of the missing cast members at SNL50 has been solved. Dana Carvey was sick as a dog. Dan Aykroyd claims he preferred watching at home with family instead of working. And now Bill Hader is telling Seth Meyers why he decided to stay away.

Actually, Meyers was the one who spilled the beans to America. “You were very open and honest after you left SNL about the anxiety you had when you were working there,” Meyers told Hader. “And then for the SNL 50th, I think people were obviously at first disappointed you weren't coming, but that was the reason.”

Hader has discussed his SNL panic attacks several times in the past. “There will be moments,” he once confessed to Ted Danson, “where I’m like, ‘Oh man, am I going to be known as the anxiety guy?’” He’s talked about fighting off terror in multiple sketches,...

Bill Hader Was Too Anxious to Make ‘SNL50’ Sketch About Anxiety | Video
Image
“Saturday Night Live” pulled out all the stops for its 50th anniversary special, celebrating five decades of the sketch comedy staple with some of the biggest stars from the past and today. As the three-hour ceremony continued, guest after guest was trotted out for sketches, musical appearances and audience segments commemorating the extensive history of the show.

Not every “SNL” cast member was able to make it back. Bill Hader, who has openly discussed his battle with anxiety during his “Saturday Night Live” tenure, talked to Seth Meyers about how this very struggle kept him from appearing for the 50th celebration.

Hader’s former collaborator Andy Samberg tried — unsuccessfully — to lampshade this in a sketch about anxiety.

“You were very open and honest, sorta after you left ‘SNL,’ about the anxiety you had when you were working there,” Meyers said to Hader on “Late Night with Seth Meyers.” “And then,...

‘Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound’ Review: Maximalist Attitude with Minimalist Design
Image
It feels appropriate, when describing the delirious plot and set pieces of Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, to channel Bill Hader’s Stefon from SNL. The year’s hottest fusion of retro vibes and modern comforts is Ragebound. This place has everything: a buddy cop partnership between two ninjas—the earnest Kenji and the sardonic Kumori—the latter of whom resides, in spirit form, within the former’s body; a sequence, situated in a construction site, where you outrun a demon-operated bulldozer before plowing through fiends with a forklift; another level in which you escape a C.I.A. battleship via jet ski, fending off bomb-dropping helicopters and shirtless soldiers who wield naginatas atop WaveRunners.

Developed by the Seville-based the Game Kitchen and published by the Paris-based Dotemu, two burgeoning colossi in the world of stylish sidescrolling action titles, Ragebound brims with an invigoratingly maximalist B-movie attitude. But that over-the-top sensibility is undergirded by confidently minimalist design.

The Naked Gun's Director Is A Comedy Legend With A Tragic Box Office Track Record
Image
(Welcome to Tales from the Box Office, our column that examines box office miracles, disasters, and everything in between, as well as what we can learn from them.)

"There was a couple years, though, where it was not a big punchline, but where if it came up, you had to disavow it." Those are the words of director Akiva Schaffer, one third of the comedy group The Lonely Island, talking about their 2007 comedy "Hot Rod" on "The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast" in 2024. "Even on talk shows, you'd have to, like, really make sure you made fun of it before they did."

Time has been kind to "Hot Rod," with the film achieving cult status over the years. In its day though, the comedy was a flat out flop. Despite Schaffer's success alongside his partners Andy Samberg and Jorma Taccone on "Saturday Night Live," this pattern of flop-turned-cult-classic would...

Seth Rogen on the verge of making Emmys history with 4 wins for ‘The Studio’
Image
Seth Rogen is the odds-on favorite to win so many Emmys for The Studio, he'll need to bring a mantelpiece as his plus-one.

According to Gold Derby's predictions for the 2025 Emmys, Rogen is out front to win Best Comedy Series (for which he's a producer), Best Comedy Actor, and Best Comedy Directing (for "The Oner"). Plus, he's the runner-up in Best Comedy Writing (for "The Promotion"), behind only the Hacks showrunning trio of Lucia Aniello, Paul W. Downs, and Jen Statsky (for "A Slippery Slope").

Should Rogen win all four, he'd be the only person in Emmy history to win those specific trophies in the same year. In 2020, Daniel Levy won three of the four for Schitt's Creek, but his acting award was for supporting, not lead. Here's what Rogen tells Gold Derby about potentially making history:

Every Judd Apatow Movie, Ranked From Worst to Best
Image
What makes writer-director Judd Apatow exceptional is that he is one of the most comedically gifted creative forces in Hollywood, not because of how many laugh-out-loud classics he has delivered, but because of the consistent quality of his movies.

Not many filmmakers have the ability to peel off the self-indulgence that comes with a big-screen affair. With comedy features, directors feel the need to make a script somehow burst at the seams with gags, jokes, and side-stitch, which is often force-fed to the audience.

However, Judd Apatow not only dismantles that notion but also redefines his work by going back to the basics. The filmmaker tastefully takes a magnifying glass to the dysfunctional circles of society filled with potheads, manchilds, socially inept adults, and middle-aged screw-ups, all connected by a single red thread of dysfunctional behavior and emotional immaturity.

Here’s a list of all the Judd Apatow films that he has directed,...

IT: Welcome to Derry (2025)
9 key details from the new It: Welcome to Derry teaser you shouldn’t miss
IT: Welcome to Derry (2025)
The brand new teaser trailer for It: Welcome to Derry gives us another glimpse at HBO’s impending return to the world of Andy Muschietti’s franchise. Not only is the series connected to the hit movies (2017 and 2019), but it also features the return of Pennywise actor Bill Skarsgård. Here are the nine things you may have missed in the relentless new preview.

Derry in the '60s

While Muschietti’s It films took place across two primary time periods, the 1980s and the 2010s, those are not the only timeframes that Stephen King’s iconic book covered. Rather, the book was set across the 1950s and the 1980s, as the central hook of the narrative revolves around Pennywise's awakening every 27 years. As such, the series offers a chance for the creatives to return to a more classical setting, this time in the form of 1962.

As the first film...

Dan Aykroyd Explains the Dubious Reason Why He Skipped ‘SNL50’
Image
The most interesting gossip out of the SNL50 anniversary show was about the classic cast members who didn’t show up for the party. There was Dana Carvey, especially baffling because he’d appeared on Saturday Night Live several times during its 50th season. Bill Hader was Awol due to “scheduling conflicts,” an excuse that still sounds fishy. And then there was Dan Aykroyd, the only living original cast member to take a pass.

Aykroyd, appearing at Comic-Con this week to promote his daughter’s Blues Brothers graphic novel and, of course, his Crystal Head vodka brand, finally told Entertainment Weekly the reason he was a no-show: “I wanted to be at home, and I wanted to watch the show beginning to end.”

Who wants to make comedy when one can simply watch it? “I knew if I was there, I’d be in a dressing room, I’d be working.

Dan Aykroyd gives reason for his absence at SNL 50th anniversary special
Dan Aykroyd
Live from New York, it’s…not Dan Aykroyd. There were several key players missing from this year’s celebration of the 50th anniversary of SNL, including Dana Carvey, Bill Hader and the aforementioned Dan Aykroyd. And while it was previously reported that Aykroyd wouldn’t be taking the stage at Studio 8H due to a scheduling conflict, he is debunking this and providing a totally relatable reason for his absence.

As Dan Aykroyd told Entertainment Weekly about why he snubbed the SNL event, “I wanted to be at home and I wanted to watch the show beginning to end…I knew if i was there, I’d be in a dressing room, I’d be working. I wanted to see it live. I’m a fan of the show today, and I watch it all the time. I love these new players; I think they’re just great. I...

NewsRadio Cast: Where The Actors Are Today
Image
Although there were plenty of '90s sitcoms set in the workplace, "NewsRadio" stands out as one of the best and most underrated of these. It revolved around the team at a second-rate Am radio station in New York City, with an anything-goes approach that saw the show embrace everything from broad physical comedy and rapid-fire quipping to satire and more outlandish surrealism. "NewsRadio" ran for five seasons, airing on NBC from 1995 to 1999 and surviving even the tragic death of one of its main cast members.

Unlike many other workplace sitcoms, there's remarkably little turnover from an ensemble perspective -- "NewsRadio" had a small group of actors that made up its news station, and the majority of them stuck with the show for its entire runtime. That speaks to both the quality of "NewsRadio" and what a positive working experience it fostered. Although it isn't the most widely known television show from the '90s,...

Why Bill Hader's 98% Rt Comedy Is Still One Of HBO's Best Shows Ever Detailed By Star
Image
In a new interview, Barry star Stephen Root has detailed exactly why Bill Hader's acclaimed comedy series is one of HBO's best-ever shows. Root recently spoke to ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns when the topic of conversation turned to the crime comedy-drama in which he starred between 2018 and 2023.

The actor played one of Barry's best characters, Monroe Fuches, who is the titular protagonist's self-serving family friend throughout the show's four seasons. As a result, few people are better-placed to pinpoint the reason for Barry's successthan Root.

Root was interviewed by ScreenRant to promote his appearance in Resident Alien season 4. Yet, when given the chance, Root didn't forget to compliment Barry and talk about why it was such a special project to work on. When he was asked what convinces him to go for an acting job, he responded as follows:

Exclusive: For me these days, it's all about the script,...

All 4 Ari Aster Movies (Including Eddington), Ranked
Image
Although there has been growing enthusiasm for rising horror auteurs like Jordan Peele, Robert Eggers, Mike Flanagan, and Coralie Fargeat, no filmmaker has elicited quite as extreme of response as Ari Aster. While Aster’s talent was evident from some of his early, disturbing short films, his work within features has raised the threshold for upsetting content. There’s certainly an art to being transgressive for the sake of attention, but Aster has woven in delicate stories about human fragility and developed consistent working relationships with some of the industry’s finest actors. It’s far too early to judge whether Aster is the heir apparent to filmmakers like Tobe Hooper or Wes Craven, but he has earned enough name recognition that any of his upcoming projects has become an event worthy of anticipation.

Aster’s aptitude for prolonged, uncomfortable sequences that get under the audience’s skin may now...

Bill Hader Is Still Ashamed of How He Got Kicked Out of Martin Scorsese’s ‘SNL’ Dressing Room
Image
Bill Hader is a certified film nerd, a walking, talking Letterboxd account ready to discuss Federico Fellini or Billy Wilder at the drop of a hat. So it was no wonder that he geeked out when esteemed movie director Martin Scorsese dropped by Saturday Night Live for a comedy cameo.

While Scorsese has never hosted, he has a long history with the show and Lorne Michaels, according to Lorne: The Man Who Invented Saturday Night Live. Scorsese met up with Michaels in Italy at a Bob Dylan concert afterparty in the 1970s. A man whom Michaels identified as a dealer connected to Scorsese laid out lines of powder that sent several sniffers vomiting out a window; Scorsese was hospitalized for addiction soon thereafter.

Later, Michaels rented spare offices in his Broadway Video building to Scorsese. The director also showed up with Robert De Niro for SNL cameos on the night...

How John Cena Made $2.5 Million For One ‘Awkward’ Trainwreck Scene With Amy Schumer: And Why He’s Not Complaining

How John Cena Cashed In $2.5 Million for a Cringe-Comedy Scene in Trainwreck(Photo Credit –Facebook)

John Cena bagged $2.5 million for just three scenes in Trainwreck (via Unilad), including a hilariously awkward bedroom moment with Amy Schumer that had audiences squirming and cracking up.

The 2015 rom-com, directed by Judd Apatow, starred Schumer and Bill Hader. But it was Cena, the WWE star turned actor, who popped in early and cashed out big.

And no, this wasn’t some action-packed, dramatic arc. Cena played Steven, Amy’s ultra-buff, emotionally confused hookup buddy who gave us one of the most cringe-funny s*x scenes in memory. “It was awkward. ‘SNL50’ Helps NBC Show To Record Haul
Image
Saturday Night Live has just scored its most Emmy nominations ever, with a couple of caveats.

The NBC show and its various spinoffs around its 50th anniversary landed 31 nominations. Its previous best ever haul was in 2017 with 22 nominations.

This included seven for Saturday Night Live’s 50th including Bowen Yang in Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series, as well as 12 nominations for SNL50: The Anniversary Special and six for SNL50: The Anniversary Special. It also scored two for Questlove’s Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music and three for SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night Live as well as one for an immersive special.

It will go head-to-head, once again, against Last Week Tonight with John Oliver in the Outstanding Scripted Variety Series category, which has its own special voting rules given the number of nominees.

In 2015, the Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special, also known as SNL40, picked up...

Who Plays Rex in ‘Superman’? Meet the Familiar Face Under All That Makeup
Image
If you were watching “Superman” and found yourself thinking, “That Rex fella sure seems familiar somehow,” you would be correct!

The transmutating metahuman Rex Mason, aka Metamorpho, is a scene-stealer in James Gunn’s DC reboot; a surprisingly heartfelt creature (though perhaps there’s nothing less surprising than a soulful would-be monster in a James Gunn movie) capable of turning himself into any substance … including Kryptonite.

Here’s everything to know about who was under all the makeup, prosthetics and effects.

Nathan Fillion, Alan Tudyk and Anthony Carrigan at the “Superman” premiere (Getty Images) Who plays Rex, aka Metamorpho, in “Superman”?

Actor Anthony Carrigan plays Rex — and if you had trouble spotting that in the credits, it’s probably because the character is called “Rex” for most of the film, but credited as “Metamorpho” in the end scroll.

Audiences will most likely recognize Carrigan from his three-time Emmy-nominated performance as...

Bill Hader Is Sitting On a Film Script That’s ‘Incredibly Personal,’ Unsentimental: ‘That’s Why It’s Been So Hard to Get It Made’ | Video
Image
Bill Hader is apparently sitting on an “incredibly personal” script he is struggling to get made.

In a conversation on “The A24 Podcast,” Hader spoke with “Eddington” filmmaker Ari Aster, who raved about a script from the “Barry” creator and star that he’s read. While neither Hader nor Aster shared what the script was about, Aster shared that while reading it, he understood that Hader wrote from a similar place as him.

“When we first became friends, you sent me a script for a feature that you haven’t made yet,” Aster said. “I won’t talk about it except to say that it’s incredibly personal, and has a lot of things from your life. I found it to be just so real, and really beautifully observed. It’s a movie that was so vivid on the page that I feel like I’ve already seen it.”

20th Century Studios wants to welcome audiences back to the enchanted Night at the Museum franchise with a reimagining from Die Hart and Stuber writer Tripper Clancy. 21 Laps tapped Clancy for the gig, keeping plot details under wraps. Shawn Levy and Dan Levine will produce via 21 Laps, with Emily Morris overseeing the project. While plot elements are scarce, Deadline says the Night at the Museum reimagining will feature a new story and all-new characters.

Shawn Levy directed 2006’s Night at the Museum, based on Milan Trenc’s 1993 children’s book. The original film stars Ben Stiller as Larry Daley, the new security guard at the Museum of Natural History. To Larry’s surprise, he discovers that an ancient curse causes the animals and exhibits on display to come alive and wreak havoc.

‘Hawkeye’ Director Rhys Thomas on Jeremy Renner’s ‘Genius’ Performance and if He’d Work With Marvel Again: ‘Good Question’
Image
“Saturday Night Live” alum director Rhys Thomas was “as surprised as anybody” when he got the call to possibly work with Marvel on what would eventually become “Hawkeye.” Speaking at the Karlovy Vary Film Festival, the filmmaker joked of his first reaction: “Hey, look, we are all whores, right?”

“You get an opportunity for a bigger budget and it’s Marvel,” he added. “What interested me in that show was that fans were not interested in Hawkeye because he doesn’t have any superpowers. He’s a real guy. The comic book they highlighted for me as a tonal reference was by Matt Fraction, and that was grounded in that kind of energy that this is a real guy who was in pain and [who was] beaten up. He made mistakes. It was really the story of an ordinary guy with a poor sense of self-worth.”

Thomas said the show didn’t “feel like Marvel” to him,...

Despite Its Success, This ‘Abbott Elementary’ Star, 35, Is “Looking Forward to Moving Away” for Other Projects
Image
Abbott Elementary has been one of the most successful network sitcoms of recent years. The show's creator and star, however, is already looking forward to graduation. In a recent interview with Bustle, Quinta Brunson talked about the show's inevitable conclusion and her interest in moving on to new projects. It won't happen any time soon, though: Abbott Elementary has been renewed for a fifth season, which will premiere in the fall.

Brunson is effusive about the show's success with critics and audiences, which has kept the show on the air for five years: "We are so fortunate and blessed to be on a network TV show for five seasons, and for people to still be fans." However, she's looking for projects that will let her escape her Abbott character, perky second-grade teacher Janine Teagues: "I’m always interested in playing against type. I think that’s any actor’s dream.

Bill Hader at an event for Paul (2011)
How a failed SNL movie led Mike Myers to star in The Cat in the Hat
Bill Hader at an event for Paul (2011)
With the trailer for Bill Hader’s animated The Cat in the Hat crashing its way to the web, we can expect just the sort of calamity shown in Dr. Seuss’ original book. But the story behind 2003’s The Cat in the Hat – wherein Mike Myers played the titular nuisance – is a bit more chaotic than anything the feline could inflict. Seriously, how in the hell did Mike Myers get sucked into starring in The Cat in the Hat? The answer lies with Saturday Night Live and a series of lawsuits.

Not every SNL character deserves a movie, but Mike Myers was pushing for one that centered on Dieter, the host of West German talk show Sprockets. Set up at Universal during his post-Austin Powers bump, the movie would have been Myers’s third SNL tie-in after the Wayne’s World flicks. However, Myers was completely dissatisfied with his own screenplay and pulled the plug,...

Warner Bros. Animation unleashes a bold, unpredictable, world-building trailer, poster & images for Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat
Image
When many of us think of iconic literary characters from our youth, legends like Corduroy, Madeline, Harold, Max, Eloise, and Curious George come to mind. Still, few remain as influential across generations as Cat from Dr. Seuss‘s 1957 children’s book The Cat in the Hat. With his lanky frame, barber shop pole striped hat, red bowtie, and white gloves, Cat is a feline of simple taste but remains as unpredictable as a kitten with a laser pointer. Today, Warner Bros. Animation brings Dr. Seuss’s The Cat in the Hat back for a bold new adaptation of his zany antics with a more spirited and colorful trailer than a school of fish.

Here’s the official synopsis for The Cat in the Hat, courtesy of Warner Bros. Animation:

“In the wonderfully whimsical tradition of Dr. Seuss, The Cat in the Hat comes to the big screen in his animated theatrical feature film debut,...

‘The Cat in the Hat’: Everything to know about the ‘Seussiverse’-launching animated feature
Image
Talk about cat-itude. Following in the pawsteps of Mike Myers and Martin Short, Bill Hader is the latest actor to embody Dr. Seuss's iconic chapeau-wearing feline in Warner Bros. Animation's upcoming animated version of The Cat in the Hat. Due in theaters on Feb. 27, the release marks the return of the studio's previously dormant theatrical animation division, which teased a full slate of new feature-length cartoons at CinemaCon earlier this year.

The CinemaCon crowd was also treated to early footage from the The Cat in the Hat, including some non-finished sequences. But all the digital ink and paint is dry on the first trailer for the film, which debuted today and promised plenty of Seussian imagery and tomfoolery.

Hader, for one, is happy to provide the voice for the Cat in the Hat's latest onscreen life. "I remember reading the book as a kid and then reading it to my own kids,...

Bill Hader, 47, Begins a Whimsical New Adventure in First 'The Cat in the Hat' Trailer
Image
Oh, the places Bill Hader will go in next year's The Cat in the Hat movie. Over seven years ago, Warner Bros. Pictures snagged the rights to make a new feature adaptation of Dr. Seuss's iconic anthropomorphic feline. Now, the first trailer is finally here with the Barry star voicing the titular character in a whimsical new adventure that expands on the world of the storybook original. Filled with colorful and surreal visuals that capture the children's author's style, the footage teases a new challenge that will take him around the planet and threaten his signature striped headgear. The film will bring a little magic to theaters on March 6, 2026.

Published in 1957, the original Cat in the Hat tells the story of a young brother and sister who, during one cold and rainy day when their mother isn't home, are visited by the cat and his assistants, Things One and Two.
