Geddy Lee seems quite open to the idea of reviving Rush with his surviving bandmate Alex Lifeson, after the 2020 death of drummer Neil Peart effectively ended the band.

Lee discussed his feelings towards performing again in a new interview with The Washington Post, and though the surviving members of Rush have expressed interest in a proper reunion before, they actually did have a de facto reunion last year after Dave Grohl convinced them to perform at the star-studded tribute concerts for the late Taylor Hawkins.

“It had been a taboo subject,” Lee said of the experience. “And playing those songs again with a third person was the elephant in the room, and that kind of disappeared.”

Friday, Feb. 17 is a significant date for the members of Foo Fighters, marking the day that drummer Taylor Hawkins would have celebrated his 51st birthday.

To honour Hawkins’ memory, the band shared a brief tribute posted on Instagram.

“Miss you so much,” Dave Grohl and his bandmates wrote in the caption accompanying a photo of Hawkins, who died on March 25 of an accidental overdose in the midst of the South American leg of the band’s 2022 tour.

Dave Grohl and the other surviving members of Foo Fighters will pay tribute to their late drummer Taylor Hawkins in an all-star live concert on Saturday, Sep. 3. Hawkins died unexpectedly at age 50 in Bogotá, Colombia in March.

Among the music legends who are gathering to honor Hawkins are Led Zeppelin’s John Paul Jones, Rush’s Geddy Lee, Chrissie Hynde, Liam Gallagher, Krist Novoselic of Nirvana, as well as drumming prodigy Nandi Bushell, who sat in for Hawkins after winning a “drum off” with Foo Fighters frontman (and former Nirvana drummer) Grohl.

A separate tribute concert in Los Angeles on Sep. 27 at the Kia Forum in Inglewood is sold out.

As a member of Radiohead since their founding 35 years ago, Ed O’Brien has seen more commercial success and critical acclaim than roughly 99 percent of people who have ever picked up a guitar. But when he finally gathered up the courage to start writing and recording music on his own, he truly wasn’t sure if he could produce anything worth releasing.

“My role in Radiohead is one of serving the song,” he says on the phone from his home in Wales. “It’s one of serving’s Thom [Yorke]’s songs and Thom’s lyric.

Ed O’Brien dropped a psychedelic new track titled “Olympik,” the third single off the Radiohead guitarist’s upcoming solo debut Earth, out April 17th via Capitol Records.

The track meticulously shifts along a tight groove, courtesy of drummer Omar Hakim and Nathan East on bass. “Kaleidoscope will start to spin/Shaking up all the mess we’re in,” O’Brien sings. “Gonna shake it up, all the mess we’re in.”

“Olympik” follows the standout single “Shangri-La” and the instrumental “Brasil,” which he released with a nine-minute sci-fi film.

Radiohead member Ed O’Brien will release his debut solo album, Earth, on April 17th via Capitol Records under the name Eob.

The musician has previewed the upcoming album with “Shangri-La,” which will appear alongside previously released track “Brasil.”
