Jeopardy! Category Comes Under Fire For Creating “One Of The Sloppiest Games” Ever
Image
Jeopardy! faced some backlash after a category in a recent episode ended up being labeled "one of the sloppiest games" the series has ever seen. The iconic game show has had its share of ups and downs over the years. More recently, the search for a new host to replace Alex Trebek was a mess when Mike Richards was let go just a week after being announced as his successor. Sometimes, the game itself can come under fire, typically from clues that are poorly worded or the contestants' performances are terrible.

Fans expressed their frustration after recent Jeopardy! contestants had major struggles during one particular category.

In a Reddit thread started by Jaysjep2, fans expressed their frustration after watching the May 12 episode of Jeopardy! The contestants--Kara Peruccio, Andrew Jones and Rachel Hall--were already slightly struggling early in the game, but then came the whammy that messed everything up. A category called Jeoportmanteau!

‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Blame Writers for a ‘Disaster’ of a Category
Image
Jeopardy! fans are blaming the writers for a category that turned into a disaster for the contestants. The players went zero for five in one of them, which resulted in low totals at the end. Kara Peruccio, from Bangor, Maine, returned for her second game on Monday, May 12. She had a one-day total of $12,400 and beat her twin who competed on the game show 12 years ago. Peruccio played against Andrew Jones, from Queens, New York, and Rachel Hall, from Washington D.C. “I have to think it was a special Mother’s Day yesterday for Maureen Peruccio, who has had not one but two of her daughters appear on Jeopardy! Twins!” host Ken Jennings said at the beginning of the episode. The game started off as a disaster as the contestants answered six of the 15 questions wrong. Peruccio, a university professor, had the lead at the first commercial break, but not by much.

Due to her history with Eric Winter’s Tim Bradford, her return sparked speculation about a possible love triangle between Tim, Lucy, and Rachel. However, the show’s creator clarified that her return was never intended to set up a love triangle.

The Rookie showrunner clarified Jasmine Mathews’ return to the drama series

Episode 3 of The Rookie Season 7 brought back memories from the early days of the show with the return of Jasmine Mathews’ Rachel Hall. The character was initially introduced in Season 2 as Lucy’s college friend, who later starts dating Tim Bradford.

Image
ABC’s The Rookie pulled off one of the deepest of cuts when in the Jan. 21 episode, Sgt. Tim Bradford’s Season 2 love interest, Ssw Rachel Hall (played by Sweetbitter‘s Jasmine Mathews), suddenly re-entered his and Officer Lucy Chen’s lives.

Rachel was last seen in the Season 2 finale, en route to a dream job in New York, but not before she and Tim (Eric Winter) half-heartedly agreed to give the long distance thing a go.

‘The Rookie’ Just Tied Up One of Its Longest-Running Loose Ends
Image
Note: This story contains spoilers from “The Rookie” Season 7, Episode 3.

With the third episode of Season 7, “The Rookie” finally tied up a long-running loose end that dates all the way back to Season 2 — what the heck happened between Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and his one-time girlfriend, Rachel Hall (Jasmine Matthews)?

The character debuted on the show about five years ago in the third episode of Season 2, “The Bet,” which saw Lucy (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim strike up a simple bet: she bet she could find him a good match for a blind date and he bet she couldn’t. The wager? If she won, she got to finally switch uniforms and wear short sleeves. If not, no short sleeves and she had to do 50 pushups after every call.

That’s when Lucy set Tim up with social worker Rachel, an old college friend of hers, who became Tim’s first...

‘The Rookie’ Preview: Chen Trauma Dumps After a Familiar Face Returns | Video
Image
This week’s “The Rookie” brings a new complication for Bradford (Eric Winter) and Chen (Melissa O’Neil), just as their post-break up relationship is making its way back to lighthearted banter — and playful bets.

Speaking of bets, Jasmine Matthews is back in tonight’s new episode, “Out of Pocket,” as Rachel Hall. If you need a refresher, no big surprise, a lot has changed since we last saw the character! Rachel was last seen about five years ago in Season 2, when she had a romance with Tim. The pair met in the episode “The Bet,” after Chen made a bet with her then-t.O. Bradford that she could find a good match for him. She won that bet when Bradford and Rachel hit it off, sparking a relationship that spanned several episodes until her surprising exit.

A friend of Chen’s from college, Rachel was Bradford’s first big romance...

'The Rookie' Still Hasn't Properly Resolved This Relationship
Image
As the wait continues for the seventh season of ABC's The Rookie, it's a good time to go back and re-examine some of the show's earlier seasons. Throughout the show's run, fans were extremely invested in the characters of Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) and Lucy Chen (Melissa O'Neil) getting together. In Season 5, Lucy and Tim finally did become a couple, but that ended in Season 6 when Tim broke things off with Lucy after the incident involving Ray Watkins (David Dastmalchian). However, earlier in the show, during Season 2, Tim dated another character, Rachel Hall (Jasmine Mathews). The relationship grew serious before Rachel disappeared from the show, never to be heard from again.

This week's new DVD & Blu-ray
Winter's Bone

DVD & Blu-ray, Artificial Eye

It takes special qualities for a performer to carry a movie, and few have managed it with more grace (and with less experience) than 20-year-old Jennifer Lawrence does here. Set in the isolated communities of the Ozark mountains, the story sees Lawrence's character Ree embarking on a quest to find her missing deadbeat dad. He must appear in court in a few days or Ree and what's left of her family – a depressed mother and two young siblings – will lose the home that's been posted as collateral for his bail. In an area of dense woodland and long-forgotten cabins, the local economy seems to centre around the manufacture of methamphetamine. As a result, the insular families have become even more tight-lipped and don't take kindly to anyone – even one of their own like Ree – asking questions. It soon transpires that everyone knows something about...
