  • Charles' spouse, Barbara, has not remarried. Currently, she, and their sons Seamus and Liam (who is writing this), live in Ireland, and have been there for the past two years. (January 2006)

  • In an interview shortly before his death, he recalled how fans remember him mostly for his role as Norris in John Carpenter's The Thing (1982) and the special make-up effects for the ill-fated geologist.

  • Has a brother, Kenneth Hallahan, who is a Roman Catholic Priest in southern New Jersey

  • He was awarded the 1992 Drama Logue Award for Outstanding Performance for "The Kentucky Circle" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
  • He was awarded the 1992 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Distinguished Lead Performance for "The Kentucky Cycle" in a Center Theatre Group in association with Intiman Theatre Company at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
  • He was awarded the 1987 Drama Logue Award for Outstanding Performance for "Babbitt: a marriage" at the Mark Taper Forum Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
  • He was awarded the 1986 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award for Distinguished Lead Performance for "Rat in the Skull" at the Mark Taper Forum Too Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
  • He was awarded the 1986 Drama Logue Award for Outstanding Performance for "Rat in the Skull," at the Mark Taper Too Theatre in Los Angeles, California.
  • Played a police officer twice: The Star Chamber (1983) & Dave (1993).
