The following contains spoilers for Emperor of Ocean Park's season finale, "Chapter Ten."
Based on Stephen L. Carter's 2002 novel of the same name, MGM's Emperor of Ocean Park blends political intrigue, murder mystery and domestic drama. Talcott "Tal" Garland (Grantham Coleman), and his older siblings Addison (Henry Simmons) and Mariah (Tiffany Mack), reluctantly reunite after their father, the formidable Federal Judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whittaker), dies suddenly from a heart attack. Judge Garland was a conservative with aspirations for the Supreme Court. Unfortunately for him, a series of mysterious circumstances and political machinations led to his fall from grace, reducing him to a right-wing pundit on Fox News.
Tal and Addison are content to believe their father's death was of natural causes, but Mariah isn't convinced. She senses conspiracy. Worse, she's soon proven right. One by one, Judge Garland's old friends and connections drop dead. Chess pieces...

Christopher Herrmann is a pillar on Chicago Fire. It's hard to imagine the show without him, because the show has never been without him. He provides stability and bravery on the job, and he provides drinks afterwards at Molly's Pub.
Herrmann, played by David Eigenberg, has been providing this stability for decades. The character has been a part of Firehouse 51 longer than anybody else on the show, since Chief Wallace Boden (Eamonn Walker) has left. With this in mind, some fans may be curious as to what rank the character has. Especially since it looked like he was going to step into the role of chief for a hot second.

When law professor Tal (Grantham Coleman) enters his childhood home ahead of his father’s funeral, his young son Bentley (Dyllan Yelverton) turns to him with curiosity. “Is Grandpa going to be a ghost?” he asks. No, Tal responds. “So he won’t haunt us?” Tal patiently replies that he doesn’t think so.
As it turns out, Tal will be right on the first count and wrong on the second. MGM+’s Emperor of Ocean Park is not the sort of story in which spirits return to wreak supernatural havoc. It is, however, entirely about the ways in which Tal and his siblings are haunted by the memory of their dad, conservative judge Oliver Garland (Forest Whitaker), in ways that lend themselves to both Grishamesque thrills and Succession-lite angst. But even Whitaker’s innate gravitas can only do so much to fight gravity. Eventually, the drama sags under the weight of its messy ambition.

Don’t say his name.
Universal and MGM released a terrifying new trailer for Nia DaCosta’s supernatural slasher film, hitting theaters on Aug. 27, 2021.
The trailer gives a backstory to the classic Candyman character, who is said to be an innocent man killed by police after being suspected of putting razor blades in kids’ candy.
“Candyman ain’t a ‘he.’ Candyman is the whole damn hive,” Colman Domingo says in haunting narration in the trailer.
Serving as a “spiritual sequel” to the 1992 horror pic of the same name, “Candyman” follows visual artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) and his girlfriend, art gallery director Brianna Cartwright (Teyonah Parris), as they move into the newly gentrified Cabrini-Green neighborhood of Chicago. When McCoy learns about the tragic true story of Candyman, he begins incorporating the vengeful spirit — summoned if someone says his name into a mirror five times — into his art, unlocking a...
