There’s no denying the power a fun and scary short story has over a young mind. At such an unsuspecting age, these horror tales can leave much more of a lasting impression. And just like last Halloween, ten classic children’s anthology books are brought to light after they faded into the darkness over the years. They may be hard to come by, but these vintage collections offer youthful frights just as much as adult nostalgia.

And to help demonstrate why they were — and still are — so appealing, a creepy story from each book is highlighted.

Joe and Frank Hardy weren’t known for their supernatural adventures. Most of the time, those kinds of mysteries were debunked and grounded. However, that’s not quite what happened here in The Hardy Boys: Ghost Stories, a six-part collection perfect for Halloween.

Hulu has debuted the full trailer for season 2 of ‘The Hardy Boys.’

The second season picks up six months after the events of Season 1, building on the mystery and drama of the inaugural season and welcoming new friends and suspects. In Season 2, when a Bridgeport classmate mysteriously disappears, Frank (Rohan Campbell) and Joe Hardy (Alexander Elliot) drop their new normal routine to get back to detective work. But when they discover the mystical relic they destroyed last year is still in play, it becomes clear their simple missing person case is actually part of something far more sinister. The Hardy boys and their friends must quickly learn who they can and can’t trust as they race against time to unravel the truth, and ultimately realize that no one is safe from their past.

Tommy Kirk, one of Disney’s major young stars of the 1950s and early ’60s with performances in generational touchstone films such as Old Yeller, The Shaggy Dog and Son of Flubber, died Tuesday at his home in Las Vegas. He was 79.

His death was announced on Facebook by friend and fellow child star Paul Petersen.

The Hardy Boys are on the case at Hulu: The streamer has unveiled a trailer for a series based on the iconic characters from the amateur teenage sleuth novels.

Chicago – Television has changed so much in the last generation that it’s hard to imagine a time of only three networks and a limited number of shows premiering every fall. But in the 1970s there were two such TV series, “The Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew Mysteries,” starring Parker Stevenson, and “What’s Happening!!,” starring Ernest Thomas. They both made appearances at the “Hollywood Show” in Chicagoland.

The “Hollywood Show” is an event in which fans can mingle, take photographs and get autographs from the celebrities who appear there, and takes place in Chicago, Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
