Jo Nesbø is the author behind such crime novels as The Headhunters, The Snowman and The Hanging Sun, all of which have been adapted into films. The latest Nesbø tome to get the adaptation treatment is Blood On Snow, the writer’s 2015 novel.
We reported last year that Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Tom Hardy were gearing up to star in the film, which is to be directed by No Time To Die director Cary Fukunaga. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Hardy has exited the project due to scheduling issues, but he’s being replaced by another prominent British star, Benedict Cumberbatch.

This Valentine's Day isn't just for lovers -- it's for fans of a couple of very different franchises. While the big-name title of the weekend is "Captain America: Brave New World," in which Anthony Mackie takes over the shield and mantle from Chris Evans, the notable counterprogramming comes in the form of a very good bear indeed: Paddington. Arriving Stateside after being released in the United Kingdom over the holidays, "Paddington in Peru" (read our review here) is the long-awaited third entry in the adaptation of Michael Bond's stories about an upbeat and friendly bear who travels from Darkest Peru to London and is adopted by the Brown family and gets into all sorts of adventures. The rousing success of the 2018 film "Paddington 2" not only helped revive Hugh Grant's career with his charming and flamboyant performance as a devious actor; it sent director Paul King to bigger titles like "Wonka,...

While we still don’t have a title for Guy Ritchie‘s upcoming crime series, the Snatch and The Gentlemen filmmaker is clearly working his ensemble casting magic on the anticipated project. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Geoff Bell, Lisa Dwan, Emily Barber, and Daniel Betts will join Guy Ritchie’s latest series. The group joins Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan, and Helen Mirren for the show in production at MTV Entertainment and Paramount+.
Guy Ritchie’s untitled crime series revolves around “two warring families based in London whose enterprises stretch to all corners of the globe and the fiercely loyal “fixer” charged with protecting one of them at all costs.”
Thankfully, while the series’ title remains a mystery, THR knows who several cast members will play in the intriguing crime drama. No stranger to crime-related entertainment, Geoff Bell will play Richie, “the redoubtable leader of the up-and-coming south London Stevenson gang.

‘Casino Royale’ director Martin Campbell has insisted he is not the top choice to direct the next James Bond movie. The 81-year-old filmmaker - who helmed the 2006 blockbuster that marked Daniel Craig's debut as 007 as well as the Pierce Brosnan-starring ‘GoldenEye’ in 1995 - was rumoured to be in the running to direct the next James Bond flick, though has now stressed he is not attached to the picture. When Screen Rant asked Campbell about the rumour he could be returning to the spy franchise, he said: “I'm sure that's b*******. “Look, anything you actually hear about Bond, whether it be the casting, anything you read online, don't believe a word of it. I've been through this on two Bond films, right, and you'd be amazed about the stuff that comes out. None of it is true. I mean, almost a hundred per cent wrong, honestly.”Even so, the...

The comic book origins of Venom are storied and dramatic. The legend goes that a Marvel Comics fan named Randy Schueller wrote a letter to the company in 1982, suggesting that Spider-Man's costume be changed from the classic red-and-blue color scheme to a more minimalist black-and-white outfit. Marvel liked the enclosed design and paid him $220 for the idea. Spider-Man was in the black outfit for a few years thereafter.
Later on, John Byrne stated that the black outfit was not made of cloth. Instead, it was composed of a partially biological alien material, itself a conceit invented to cover the fact that the costume would be ripped in one panel only to show up miraculously repaired in the next.
Later still, it was established that the biological costume was a sentient alien entity made of liquid that had mentally bonded with Spider-Man, making it a symbiote. After wrestling with the alien entity in his brain,...

Since Tim Burton's "Batman" arrived in 1989, there's been no shortage of just plain silly moments throughout the franchise's run. The introduction of the bat-nipples in "Batman Forever," George Clooney's Dark Knight whipping out the Bat credit card, anything Arnold Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze did in "Batman & Robin." Following that 1997 blunder, however, Christopher Nolan took over the property, giving Batman a new origin story and single-handedly introducing the concept of the "gritty reboot" into the popular lexicon.
2005's "Batman Begins" was an impressively fresh take on a character that had already been reinterpreted multiple times, both on-screen and in the comics. It introduced us to what was dubbed a "grounded" Batman, situating the hero in a Gotham that felt much closer to our own world than any Bat-movie before it. It was a hero's origin tale that Nolan quickly followed up with the Bat-equivalent of "Heat," placing Christian Bale...

Today, Spider-Man 3 is remembered as a by-product of one of the greatest memes in pop culture history whereas for one of its leading stars, Topher Grace, the film is one of the greatest Spider-Man movies ever made. Sam Raimi’s final entry in his iconic trilogy did not stand the test of time but the same sentiment does not echo with the film’s leading antagonist.

Spider-Man 3 made Topher Grace stand out, becoming his first big movie role where he was offered a leading part as much as the first Spider-Man elevated Tobey Maguire in the industry. But Grace’s popularity was never able to rival that of Maguire’s and ultimately, the actor’s rendition of Venom was bulldozed by Tom Hardy’s beloved trilogy.
Even so, Topher Grace has no regrets for one of his career’s worst movie roles.

Sony Pictures' woebegotten Spider-Man Universe (no Spider-Man included) kicked off in 2018 with the surprise hit of "Venom," and now has seemingly ended with the disastrous "Kraven The Hunter." Spider-Man has some of the best villains in Marvel Comics, but making them into their own independent characters instead of bad guys? It just wasn't a compelling hook.
With "Venom: The Last Dance" closing the door on Tom Hardy's iteration, will we see a new Venom pop up in a Marvel Studios movie, facing down Tom Holland's Spider-Man? There's plenty of room to keep Venom fresh, since the comic book Venom symbiote has had many hosts besides Eddie Brock. It was introduced clinging to Spider-Man himself as his new black costume, only revealing itself to be a sentient, alien lifeform several issues later. According to Goggins, the first season of the show was extraordinary and he is sure that the second season is going to surpass the first. Venom: The Last Dance undoubtedly marked the end of an era for Tom Hardy’s franchise, leaving fans with a sense of emptiness. Because, over the years audiences had grown attached to Eddie Brock and his chaotic yet oddly charming symbiote, making it difficult to say goodbye. But while casual moviegoers had embraced this version of Venom, there was a bit of disappointment among comic book fanatics.

“Success is no accident,” says the late, great Kobe Bryant. In the NFL, a league full of explosive moments and nail-biting finishes, the debate around who reigns as the Greatest of All Time (Goat) has been simmering for years. Despite negative reviews, Venom was a hit in 2018. Grossing $856 million at the worldwide box office on a reported $116 million production budget, the movie's success continued when it hit physical media (it's said to have earned $70.7 million in DVD and Blu-ray sales).
Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Venom: The Last Dance weren't quite as successful - earning $501.5 million and $474.5 million, respectively - but Sony Pictures has still made a lot of money from the Lethal Protector.
Todd McFarlane and David Michelinie co-created the iconic villain who has little in common with Tom Hardy's interpretation of Eddie Brock. Talking to Cbr, McFarlane shared his thoughts on how Venom has been translated to screen and his evolution from bad guy to anti-hero.
"Well, I didn't have, I didn't have any input into any other and again, it doesn't bug me, right? Like I understand what the rules are. So they did their movie.

It's been more than three years since we last saw Spider-Man swing across buildings and fight iconic villains in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Granted, new Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man episodes are being released on Disney Plus, but that story takes place in an alternate reality where the wall-crawler never went to Midtown High or got to meet Mj. On the other hand, audiences have yet to learn the fate of Tom Holland's Peter Parker after the whole world forgot he ever existed.

Hollywood lives and breathes drama — but well, folks, the literal action happens off-screen. Be it screaming matches or brawls, some of the biggest names in the industry have clashed behind the scenes, which left a trail of broken friendships, bruised egos, and unfathomable feuds.
Some fights ended with handshakes. Others? Not so much.
Bill Murray vs. Lucy Liu
The set of Charlie’s Angels had more than high kicks and undercover missions. Lucy Liu alluded in 2021 that Bill Murray stopped filming to unload on her. He hurled insults and claimed she “couldn’t act.” Drew Barrymore later backed her up, saying she witnessed the whole stuff. Liu didn’t just take it; she threw punches before crew members separated them.
Murray’s grudge ran deep. If Liu were in it, he refused to return for the 2003 sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle.

Like most nerdy kids, I went through a Greek mythology phase in my youth. And among geeky disappointments like finding out that Hercules was actually a jerk and realizing that Xena: Warrior Princess wasn’t a canonical Greek hero, I was also pretty bummed by the fact that filmmakers never seemed to get my favorite mythic yarn right – that of Theseus and the Minotaur.
In fact, I still think that we’ve yet to see a definitive cinematic take on this ancient tale of bovine terror, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been some honorable attempts at turning the story into a thrilling movie. So today, I’d like to look back on a mostly forgotten movie that attempts to re-imagine the myth as a fantasy-horror epic akin to Mathew Robbins’ Dragonslayer. Naturally, I’m referring to Jonathan English’s 2006 Sci-Fi original Minotaur, an ambitious creature feature that...

Prison dramas are strange. It’s certainly not my go-to genre when it comes to recommending films or TV shows, and it is definitely not something I gravitate to in my free time. But if I come across one by chance, and if it’s even half-decent, I can assure you that I’ll stick with it all the way to the end. That’s how I came across masterpieces like The Great Escape, Escape from Alcatraz, The Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and The Hurricane. I watched Starred Up for Jack O’Connell, Chopper for Eric Bana, Bronson for Tom Hardy, A Prayer Before Dawn for Joe Cole, Gridiron Gang for Dwayne Johnson, The Longest Yard for Adam Sandler, and Brawl in Cell Block 99 for Vince Vaughn. Also, Chicken Run is undoubtedly up there with the greats. Now, when it comes to TV shows, I don’t show the same kind of zeal.

You have to give it to Matt Murdock — he's one persistent man. He survived being stabbed by a member of the Hand, an entire building falling over him, and worse of all: The fallout of the Netflix and Disney deal. While there was a time when audiences weren't sure whether we'd see more of Daredevil on live-action projects, everything changed the day he made a surprise appearance in Spider-Man: No Way Home and helped clear Peter Parker's name. Now, it's time for someone else to return the favor and make an unexpected cameo in Matt Murdock's first stand-alone series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Search For Daniel Craig’s Successor
While the search for Daniel Craig’s successor has been a long, ongoing process, familiar names like Henry Cavill, Tom Hardy, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson have been the main frontrunners until now. Believe it or not, there was an Oscar buzz around Andy Serkis’ Gollum role in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Serkis played the voice and motion capture for the role. He initially had doubts about the role as he was unsure whether the mo-cap performance would work in the film. However, Peter Jackson believed it to be a relevant acting performance.

Jackson compared it to John Hurt’s performance in The Elephant Man, a role that won Hurt a Best Actor nomination. Hurt had to wear heavy prosthetic makeup in the role and never showed his face, which prompted the director to believe that Serkis was eligible for an Oscar. However, he never received the recognition for The Lord of the Rings.

Tom Hardy portrayed the character of Eddie Brock in Sony’s Venom franchise for six whole years. While the star is known for playing rugged characters on screen, it was his first time being part of a superhero franchise. Needless to say, he won over the fans very quickly with his fantastic performance.

As such, questions about his experience and preparation for the role have hounded the fans for a long time. Surprisingly, Hardy admitted in an interview that he wasn’t quite sold on the idea at first. What changed his perspective, though, was none other than his son.
His son was the one to properly introduce him to the character, and so when he got the script for the movie, the tug of war between the primal and logical self drew him in, and hence the titular character came alive...

The Raid director Gareth Evans is ready to unleash Havoc — but don’t worry, it won’t last too long, as Evans himself revealed that his next movie will have a runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Following his appearance at the Next on Netflix event this week, Gareth Evans confirmed the runtime of Havoc — the subject of some discussion and speculation as of late — would be a “tight one.” Posting on Instagram, Evans wrote, “Oh and to clarify as have seen rumours rumbling… the runtime for the film is a tight as a drum 1hr 45mins (Inc credits) and will be out this spring (sorry for being cryptic – I’m not allowed to say exactly when just yet!).” While we don’t have a release date, knowing that the runtime for the movie itself is likely somewhere around 1:40 or less is encouraging.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Kraven the Hunter is the latest (and hopefully the last) Ssu film to bomb at the box office. The superhero genre in general and Sony’s Spider-Man Universe in particular have lost millions of dollars recently. However, fans would be surprised to know that neither Kraven and Madame Web nor The Marvels are among the 10 lowest-grossing films of the 21st century.

There are Marvel, DC, and even a James Gunn movie on this list. Some films are downright bad while others didn’t manage to appeal to a large crowd. These box office numbers vary from $23 million all the way down to around $30,000.

When Timothy Olyphant stars in a major TV series — Justified, The Mandalorian, Daisy Jones & The Six — that's lucky. But when Timothy Olyphant stars in a major Apple TV+ limited series based on a bestselling Marissa Stapley thriller, well then that would be Lucky. Yes, per Deadline's reporting, the man with the finest hair on the box has signed up to star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy and Annette Bening in showrunner Jonathan Tropper and exec producer Reese Witherspoon's hotly anticipated new show.
In the series, which is set to feature several episodes directed by Shōgun helmsman Jonathan Van Tulleken, Olyphant will play the father of Taylor-Joy's titular tearaway. Kraven The Hunter Worldwide Box Office: Nearing Its Theatrical End (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Sony Marvel’s Kraven the Hunter, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, failed to impress the audience and is set to witness an abysmal end of its theatrical run. It will end its run even below the box office dud, Madame Web. This movie suffered from multiple delays, which is another reason for its failure at the box office. Scroll below for the deets.
Last year, three films from Sony’s Spider-Man Universe were released, and Venom: The Last Dance was only a box office success. Other films released were Madame Web and this Aaron Taylor-Johnson starrer. It scored a much lower debut in the United States than Dakota Johnson’s Marvel movie. Madame Web-collected $15.3 million, while Kraven earned only $11 million from 3,211 theatres in its opening weekend and, as predicted, did not rebound over the rest of the course of its theatrical run.

Netflix’s production slate finally gives long-delayed sequel The Old Guard 2 a release date: expect it on your tellybox on the 2nd July.
Just as we were thinking about buying a funeral wreath for The Old Guard 2, an action sequel stuck in post-production hell since 2022, Netflix comes along and announces a release date. You’ve probably read it by now, but we’ll type it again: the fantastical, vaguely Highlander-esque action sequel will stream from the 2nd July 2025.
The original Old Guard came out in the pandemic-riven months of 2020, and with 70 million views, it was deemed successful enough to warrant a sequel. The Hollywood strikes and a regime change at Netflix then delayed work on that follow-up, and earlier this month came a report that The Old Guard 2 might have to be delayed for a second round of reshoots scheduled for early this summer.

Netflix and British docs producer Rogan Productions are to attempt to “connect the long and disturbing chain of events” that led to the disastrous Grenfell Tower fire in London.
The pair are teaming on a Grenfell [working title] doc feature that will air later this year and was revealed last night at the Next on Netflix event in London.
The feature will give a voice to survivors, bereaved families and firefighters, while “tracing the chain of events that led to the disaster,” according to Netflix. In 2017, the Grenfell Tower fire claimed the lives of 72 people and has led to a huge deal of introspection for the past eight years including a major national inquiry.
Netflix UK boss Anne Mensah said last night: “From pure entertainment to the most important stories – this year you will see a number of big British documentary series and films on Netflix UK. These are the important stories that demand to be told.
