In all of horror, few characters remain so beloved as Laurie Strode. Originated by Jamie Lee Curtis in John Carpenter’s Halloween, this intrepid babysitter anchors one of the genre’s greatest films while helping to create an iconic trope that has changed the way we view women in film. Laurie becomes a final girl when she survives Michael Myers (Nick Castle) and a horrific Halloween night, but she’s cursed to carry the weight of this trauma alone. Out of all the sequels, remakes, timelines, and lore, no one explores the legacy of pain left in Michael’s wake like Rob Zombie. His Halloween II is an angry film that rubs our noses in the sorrow, guilt, shame, and pain still guiding Laurie’s shattered life. This polarizing sequel takes a wild swing at Michael...

Scout Taylor-Compton holds on to hope that she’ll play Halloween heroine Laurie Strode again someday
Seventeen years ago, writer/director Rob Zombie took on the challenge of remaking John Carpenter’s 1978 classic Halloween – and to do so, he had to find an actress who could fill Jamie Lee Curtis’s shoes and become the new Laurie Strode. Zombie’s choice was Scout Taylor-Compton, and he put her version of Laurie through the wringer. Although she starts out a nice, normal high school student like Curtis’s Laurie, her experience with Michael Myers leaves her an emotional mess, with Zombie and Taylor-Compton exploring Laurie’s trauma in the 2009 sequel Halloween II. That one had an ambiguous ending. Did Taylor-Compton’s Laurie die, or did she survive? During an interview with Fangoria, Taylor-Compton said she thinks her Laurie may be dead, but she’s still holding on to hope that she’ll get to play the character again someday.

For a lot of horror fans, October is their favorite month of the year, giving us 31 full days to watch even more horror movies than we do throughout the rest of the year, including films that are set on the holiday that ends the month: Halloween. Of course, the Halloween-set horror movies that get the most views are the slasher movies that share their name with the holiday. So with fresh viewings of every Halloween movie taken in, we have assembled a list: Halloween Movies Ranked, from worst to best. Check it out:
Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
Director Rick Rosenthal did such a good job emulating the style of John Carpenter when he made Halloween II, bringing him back to direct the follow-up to H20 seemed like a great idea. Two years have passed since the release of musician / filmmaker Rob Zombie’s latest film, his update of the classic sitcom The Munsters, and we still don’t know what he’s going to make next (although we do have a wish list of movies we’d like to see him make). While we anxiously wait to hear what Zombie’s going to do next, we have decided to take a look back at all of the movies he has made, from House of 1000 Corpses to The Munsters, to put together a list of some of the Best Scenes from Rob Zombie movies to date.

When John Carpenter made the original “Halloween” in 1978, it was just another horror movie in a long line of horror movies. But the blockbuster success of this low-budget movie, about a masked killer murdering babysitters, made “Halloween” a cultural institution. The film spawned legions of imitators and codified the slasher genre as we still know it. And yet the official “Halloween” franchise has often struggled to meet the standard of the movie that inspired the craze. Let’s look back at all of these classic (and not so classic) horror movies, and see how they stack up.
Behold, all the “Halloween” movies ranked from worst to best.

As fantastical as the concept seems, the first body swap movie dates all the way back to 1916 with the British fantasy flick "Vice Versa," where a young schoolboy magically swaps bodies with his overbearing father. It's based on the even older 1882 novel of the same name and would mark the start of one of the most evergreen cinematic tropes that exists beyond the confines of genre. Body swap movies are most prominent in family-friendly comedy flicks like the "Freaky Friday" franchise or the criminally underrated "Wish Upon a Star" with Danielle Harris and a young Katherine Heigl, or even action films like John Woo's "Face/Off." Science-fiction films usually explore body swapping as some sort of technological advancement, comic books boast plenty of body swap stories (so it's only a matter of time before we see one in live-action), and even horror...

Killer Cakes puts a terrifying twist on the popular baking competition show. Viewers expecting the usual sweet delights may find themselves more chilled than thrilled. Yet underneath oozing “blood” and leering facial features lie cakes as tasty as they are terrifying.
Most cooking programs spotlight mouthwatering meals. Killer Cakes spotlights the mouthwatering macabre. Produced by heavyweight horror studios Blumhouse and High Noon, it tasks cake artists with molding gory visions in frosting and fondant. Each round presents a new nightmare theme challenging bakers’ special effects skills. From serial killers to demonic entities, their edible creations morph into monsters before judges’ eyes.
Horror icons like Matthew Lillard and Danielle Harris ensure scares as real as any movie. As host, Lillard’s exuberance elevates each grotesque unveiling. Judges Harris and Nikk Alcaraz critique not just cakes’ creep factor but taste, pushing artists’ dual talents. Throughout, SFX pros lend their touch, assisting cakes...

Who's ready to go back to One Tree Hill? There's a wide range of actors who could return for the revival of the beloved teen drama!
Premiering on the WB in 2003, One Tree Hill told the story of half-brothers Lucas (Chad Michael Murray) and Nathan (James Lafferty), who come together after years apart and balance between being rivals and allies. The cast also had some breakout turns from Sophia Bush as Brooke Davis, Hillarie Burton as Peyton Sawyer, and Bethany Joy Lenz as Haley James, to name a few.
The show moved to the CW in season 4 with season 5 doing a five-year "time jump" to move the characters from high school to adulthood. There were various cast turnovers before the series finally ended in 2012 after nine seasons and 187 episodes.
Oth has remained popular over the years with the show streaming on Netflix and Hulu. Bush, Burton, and Joy Lenz remain...

Plot: The Keenan family checks into a quaint inn called The Pines, “the pearl of Pennsylvania,” only to find that there is no Wi-Fi, cell phone signals are blocked, the exits are locked, and four masked killers are stalking the halls.
Review: Directed by Terrifier cast member Michael Leavy, the slasher movie Stream has two major selling points going for it: Terrifier franchise director Damien Leone provided the bloody special effects, and the cast list reads like the Expendables or the Avengers of horror. The line-up includes Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), Danielle Harris (Halloween 4), Felissa Rose (Sleepaway Camp), Dee Wallace (The Howling), Mark Holton (Leprechaun), Daniel Roebuck (Final Destination), Dave Sheridan (The Devil’s Rejects), Terry Alexander (Day of the Dead), David Howard Thornton (Terrifier), Tim Reid (Stephen King’s It), Charles Edwin Powell (Exorcist III), Tony Todd (the original Candyman himself), Bill Moseley (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2), Terry Kiser (Friday the 13th Part VII: The New Blood...

From drawing attention to its trailer online to buying tickets for complete strangers, a small army of horror die-hards is willing to do whatever it takes to support Michael Leavy’s “Stream,” in theaters now.
While genre buffs have been ride-or-die for Leavy since he appeared in “Terrifier,” they were more important than ever for his latest indie gore fest. After saving the production from folding to Covid, Leavy made them official members of the “Stream” Team by giving them producer credits as thanks.
“Covid hit us right in the middle of production and we had used all of our funds for PPE and the Hepa filters,” Leavy explained. “So we ended up saying, ‘Let’s bring this to the horror community.’ And we offered producer credits and things like that for anybody who wanted to get involved.”
“Stream” follows a family of four who goes on vacation to soothe their infighting.

Tim Curry is back! The legendary actor hasn’t done much on-screen acting since his stroke in 2012, with his most recent screen appearances coming in the 2010 John Landis film Burke and Hare (pictured above), the 2012 comedy What About Dick?, and the TV presentation The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again in 2016. But today, Curry has returned to the big screen in the horror film Stream!
Terrifier cast member Michael Leavy has directed Stream – and not only has he brought Terrifier and Terrifier 2 director Damien Leone on board to handle the special effects, but he also packed the cast with genre icons. Stream arrives this summer from director Michael Leavy, continuing the gruesome vision of the popular Terrifier franchise. Set at an isolated hotel called The Pines, the movie sees four masked killers hunting the guests for a sinister online game streamed to anonymous viewers worldwide.
Roy, Elaine, and their two kids check into The Pines, hoping for a relaxing getaway. But things take a dark turn when the hotel goes into lockdown and guests start dying in increasingly brutal ways. As the masked players ramp up their slaughter, it’s a terrifying fight for survival inside the resort’s walls. Blood sprays as bones crunch in vivid practical kills that pay homage to horror classics while pushing new extremes.
Leavy delivers exactly what die-hard genre fans crave. Griefing a whole cast with mesmerizingly grisly demises, Stream is a non-stop slaughter that makes no excuses for its over-the-top carnage. Those seeking cerebral...

Those who think the days of the truly independent sleeper are long gone should take note of the “Terrifier” films which, with their direct, rather insular appeal to hardcore horror devotees, have racked up a very tidy sum in profits from relatively tiny budgetary layouts. A third feature will be released this fall, but meanwhile there’s “Stream,” a stand-alone effort from much of the crew of “Terrifier 2”, which capitalized on the original’s cult status to gross nearly $16 million two years ago. “Stream,” too, is launching as a limited theatrical event, booked between Aug. 21 to Aug. 25 in the U.S. and Canada, with other territories to follow.
Though it breaks from their conceptual template — there’s no killer clown — “Stream” also echoes the “Terrifier” films in its general gist, as well as individual plusses and minuses. They’re all movies on the higher-quality end of that peculiar gorehound terrain,...

This freaky modern slasher horror is from the same creators of Terrifier 2, their next offering before Terrifier 3 hits theaters in October. The Keenan family's simple weekend getaway truly turns into a vacation to die for, as four deranged killers playing a sadistic game lock down their hotel and compete for the most creative murders of all the guests. The ensemble cast features Jeffrey Combs, Danielle Harris, Tony Todd, Dee Wallace, Tim Reid, David Howard Thornton, Daniel Roebuck, Felissa Rose, Dave Sheridan, others. Literal “Scream” king Matthew Lillard is joining forces once again with Blumhouse for an unexpectedly terrifying — and potentially delicious — two-part series, Amazon Prime Video’s “Killer Cakes.”
The one-of-a-kind baking competition is hosted by Lillard, who starred in Blumhouse’s “Five Nights at Freddy’s.” For “Killer Cakes,” Lillard, who will also executive produce the miniseries, is joined a pair of judges: “Halloween” actress Danielle Harris and experimental food artist and cookbook author Nikk Alcaraz. The series centers on bakers attempting to win “some of the most frightening challenges ever produced for television,” per the logline. The contestants will work with the best horror special-effects artists in Hollywood to create cakes purposefully disgusting and disturbing.
Because that’s what everybody wants: disgusting cake.

“It’s not a remake. It’s not a sequel. And it’s not based on a Japanese one.”

Actor Meagan Good was known for starring in lighthearted projects like Cousin Skeeter at the start of her career. She has since branched out to include a variety of movies in her resume. But she might be understated as a horror movie star as well, having starred in her fair share of slashers and paranormal films. This made sense, however, as it was the Halloween franchise that inspired Good to be an actor in the first place.

As is the case with many actors, Good knew that she wanted to be involved in the film industry as a child. But she told Cigar & Spirits that it was all a matter of how badly she wanted to pursue a career in film.
“I knew very young that I wanted to be an actress.

I’ve been on a bit of a Larry Fessenden kick lately either intentionally or by circumstance. I really wanted to talk about the movie Late Phases which has a cameo from the man and his name in the produced by section. This led to one of our favorites in Danielle Harris wishing that more people knew about a movie she did called Stake Land. While this had a six degrees of separation angle attached to it with Late Phases star Nick Damichi also starring and writing Stake Land, it also brought back Fessenden in his comfortable producer role, oh and another cameo. We’ve gone down another rabbit hole and heard from the man himself that The Last Winter (watch it Here) is a movie of his that he wishes had been seen by more people.
