Image
Clint Eastwood's controversial bio-drama starring Tom Hanks has a new streaming home. Sully is now available on HBO's Max.

Sully was released in 2016, with Eastwood directing and Todd Komarnicki writing the film's script, based on Chelsey "Sully" Sullenberger's 2009 autobiography. Tom Hanks stars in the titular role and is joined by Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Anna Gunn, Autumn Reeser, Holt McCallany and Jamey Sheridan. Sully's story follows Hanks's character during the 2009 emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 on the Hudson River. The real-life plane evacuation saw all 155 people on board safely rescued with no fatalities. The film explores the incredible event as well as its publicity and the investigation that followed.

‘Sully: Miracle on the Hudson’ Review
Stars: Tom Hanks, Aaron Eckhart, Laura Linney, Valerie Mahaffey, Delphi Harrington, Mike O’Malley, Jamey Sheridan, Anna Gunn, Holt McCallany | Written by Todd Komarnicki | Directed by Clint Eastwood

If there is one thing we know about 2017, it is that it is a dark time. What we need is a glimmer of hope, something to show that there is still good out there, and surprisingly there is evidence of that in movies like Sully: Miracle on the Hudson. Though it also shows the clinical and cynical nature of the world we live in.

Sully: Miracle on the Hudson is based on the true story of Captain “Sully” Sullenberger (Tom Hanks), the pilot who managed to land his plane saving all those aboard. Set in the days after the event, it delves both into Sully’s self-doubt about his actions, and the investigation that unfolded into his actions.

The paring of Tom Hanks...

This Time, It's Real.
This Time

Written by Sevan K. Greene

Directed by Kareem Fahmy

Presented by Rising Circle Theater Collective, The Sheen Center, NYC

May 7-21, 2016

This Time is the continent- and decade-spanning yet intimate new play by Sevan K. Greene, presented in its world premiere by Rising Circle Theater Collective, a group that focuses on original work by artists of color. Greene based his play on Not So Long Ago, the memoir of Amal Meguid, director Kareem Fahmy’s grandmother, to whose memory This Time is dedicated. This Time actually follows two threads of time, one in 1990s Toronto, the play’s present, and one that begins in 1960s Cairo and moves towards that present. In the latter thread, a young Amal (Rendah Heywood) meets Nick (Seth Moore), a Canadian on business in Cairo, at a party. Both are trilingual; Amal is blunt, honest, and married; Nick, avowedly romantic, pushy, and sleeping with his secretary.
