Getting into "The Twilight Zone" is easy, but picking the perfect "Twilight Zone" episode for newcomers to the series? Not so much. The show has plenty of excellent episodes, but not all of them appeal to every audience. Some are the favored choice of horror fans, while others lean more sci-fi. Some aim to moralize, while others simply entertain with twisty, ironic, and sometimes silly stories.

There are dozens of viable entry points for the greatest anthology series in TV history, but one has consistently worked best for me over the years: "Five Characters in Search of an Exit," an existential yet optimistic one-room play of sorts that's nestled in the middle of the show's third season. If you haven't seen this episode, it's best to go in blind: its final twist is one of the show's best, not only for its cleverness, but the rare "Twilight Zone" perspective shift that delights rather than terrifies.

Susan Harrison, who starred opposite Burt Lancaster and Tony Curtis as the sensitive younger sister of an unscrupulous newspaper columnist in the hard-boiled drama Sweet Smell of Success, has died. She was 80.

Harrison died March 5 at a nursing facility in North Hills, California, her daughter, Darva Arellano, told The Hollywood Reporter.

"She was an amazingly talented and highly trained actress who started acting on Broadway and became a bona fide movie star," Arellano wrote on Instagram. "She had many titles, but to me she was my sweet Mom, and there will never be another like her."

When it comes to Arrow and the releases they output I’ll always be a fan of the Arrow Video line because of my love of everything cult and horror. A close second though has to be their Arrow Academy range, whereas the name suggest they give more of an education based on films from the past which deserve our attention just as much as any modern movie does. Sweet Smell of Success is the latest release and gives an insight into one of the more unique Hollywood movies not only of its times in the fifties, but still remains just as good today.

J. Hunsecker (Burt Lancaster). The latter’s every written word forms public opinion like that of few other writers, a power he relishes, a power that inflates his already considerable ego. Burt Lancaster on TCM: The Leopard, Scorpio, The Killers I haven't watched Michael Winner's Scorpio (1973), an unflattering portrayal of Us foreign policy and the CIA that reunited Lancaster with his The Leopard co-star Alain Delon. As per the TCM synopsis, "a CIA hit man [Lancaster] is stalked by a former partner [Delon] when the agency turns on him." A Man for All Seasons' Best Actor Oscar winner Paul Scofield and Gayle Hunnicutt are also in the cast. Robert Siodmak's 1946 film noir The Killers is one of the best-looking efforts in the genre thanks to Elwood Bredell's glistening black-and-white cinematography. Although The Killers turned newcomer Lancaster into a major star, as far as I'm concerned this adaptation of Ernest Hemingway's short story belongs to Ava Gardner; in fact, The Killers could just as easily have been called "The Leopardess (La gattaparda)."
