Severin Films kicks off the new year with three North American premieres that bring “one of the best labels in physical media” (Polygon) into 2024 replete with classic monsters, barbed-wire garrotes, ‘80s Italo-Sleaze in Uhd and arguably the most depraved bedtime accessory ever created.

For January, Severin presents the ultimate version of Jess Franco’s 1972 mash-up Dracula, Prisoner Of Frankenstein; the rarely-seen Ozploitation slasher Bloodmoon, complete with infamous ‘Fright Break Challenge’; and Andrea Bianchi’s off-the-rails zombie carnage classic Burial Ground, now in eye-popping, flesh-ripping 4K.

To further celebrate everyone’s favorite shambling Etruscans, an all-new Burial Ground t-shirt and Michael Pillowcase will be available in two of this month’s bundles.

January also brings much-requested wide-release versions of previously limited-edition titles — Frank Henenlotter’s black comedy shocker Bad Biology, controversial ‘80s sleaze classic Nightmare and Lucio Fulci’s giallo masterpiece The Psychic — all fully restored in 4K Uhd.

Mumbai, May 26 (Ians) British luxury supercar-maker McLaren Automotive on Friday introduced the all-new McLaren Artura in India for Rs 5.1 crore, which is the company’s first-ever series-production High-Performance Hybrid (Hph) supercar to arrive in the country.

The Artura’s top speed is 330km per hour with 0-100 km per hour reached in just 3.0 seconds and 0-200 km per hour in 8.3 seconds, according to the company.

The Artura has full Plug-in Hybrid (Phev) capability and can be charged to an 80 per cent level in 2.5 hours. The battery pack can also harvest power from the combustion engine during driving, tailored to the driving mode selected.

This provides the driver with a unique ability to enjoy the car in silent, pure Ev mode with a range of up to 31 km and a top speed of 130km per hour, said the company.

Actress Judy Farrell, best known for playing Nurse Able on hit 1970s-’80s sitcom “M*A*S*H”, has died at age 84.

The actress’ son, Michael Farrell, told TMZ that she died Sunday in hospital, having suffered a stroke nine days earlier.

Farrell appeared in eight episodes of “M*A*S*H”, and at the time was married to series star Mike Farrell, who joined the cast in 1975 as surgeon B.J. Hunnicutt.

In addition to “M*A*S*H”, Farrell’s acting career also included guest-starring appearances on such TV series as “Get Smart”, “The Partridge Family” and “Quincy, M.E.”. On the big screen, she was featured in the movies “J.W. Coop” (1971), “Chapter Two” (1979) and “Long-Term Relationship” (2006).

Following the Farrells’ divorce in 1983, she subsequently married actor/producer Joe Bratcher.

Kino Lorber resurrects the obscure and fascinating 1974 Blaxploitation gem Truck Turner this month for the first time on Blu-ray. One of Isaac Hayes’ most notable acting performances, it’s a head above the general trend of similar genre titles of the period, even though the film features a familiar narrative already well re-tread by the time of its release. I just finished watching this jazz-infused 1962 psychodrama from British filmmaker Basil Dearden, titled All Night Long; it’s basically a retelling of Shakespeare’s Othello, set in a 1960s London jazz club, taking place over the course of one eventful evening.

As interracial couple, and band mates, Aurelius Rex (played by Paul Harris) and Delia Lane (played by Marti Stevens), celebrate their first wedding anniversary, jealous, ambitious drummer, Johnny Cousin (Patrick McGoohan), who wants Delia for himself to headline his own burgeoning band, works feverishly to tear the couple apart, with lies and deception. A familiar story of jealousy and treachery.

And by the time the night draws to a close, the previously-happily married Aurelius has been deceived into trying to murder his beloved wife, and her believed to be lover.

Queen Latifah is driving a remake of Truck Turner to the big screen for MGM. The Oscar-nominated actress -- who is onscreen in the No. 1 film, MGM's Barbershop 2 -- is producing the remake, which Chris Frisina has just been hired to write for the studio and Queen Latifah's production company Flavor Unit Films. The original 1974 film, directed by Jonathan Kaplan, found Isaac Hayes in the title role starring as a bounty hunter hired to kill a man named Gator. Once the job is done, Gator's girlfriend puts a hit out on Truck, who is then forced to elude the hit and escape the nasty gang. Yaphet Kotto, Paul Harris, Annazette Chase and Sam Laws also star.
