Ella Purnell has a rather unusual complaint about one of her biggest roles yet—losing a finger. The Fallout star recently opened up about the frustration of dealing with a fake amputated finger while playing Lucy MacLean in the Prime Video series. And this isn’t even the first time she’s had to go through it—her Arcane character, Jinx, also lost a finger in Season 2.

During a Fan Expo HQ panel, Purnell admitted she really hopes this doesn’t become a recurring theme in her career. “That would be one of the worst things to happen to me,” she said. “Purely because, do you have any idea how annoying it is to have that finger painted on me every single day? This finger is the bane of my life. It is the worst thing.”

The Fallout star recently shared her annoyances over working with a fake amputated finger as post-apocalyptic heroine Lucy MacLean on the Prime Video series, admitting she hopes not to get typecast after her Arcane animated character Jinx also lost a digit.

“That would be one of the worst things to happen to me,” said Purnell at Fan Expo HQ. “Purely because, do you have any idea how annoying it is to have that finger painted on me every single day? This finger is the bane of my life. It is the worst thing.”

“The Substance,” “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and “The Deliverance” topped the 12th annual Make-Up Artists & Hair Stylists Guild Award nominations with three apiece.

Right behind with two nominations are “Gladiator II,” “Wicked,” and “Deadpool and Wolverine,” while other Oscar hopefuls like “Emilia Pérez,” and “A Different Man” scored a single bid. Notably missing from the nominations are “Nosferatu” and “Dune: Part Two.”

Last season, “Maestro” and “Saltburn” each took home two awards from the guild. While “Saltburn” was snubbed by the Oscars, “Maestro” was nominated but lost to “Poor Things.”

On the TV side, “Dancing with the Stars” led the way with five nominations.

Winners will be announced on Feb. 15. As previously announced, makeup artist Todd McIntosh and hair stylist Peter Tothpal will receive lifetime achievement awards.

The hit Amazon Prime Video series Fallout has captivated audiences with its post-apocalyptic world based on the popular video game franchise. Show producers aimed to faithfully adapt the beloved game universe while adding fresh new storylines. This careful balance resonated with both longtime fans and new viewers alike.

Showrunner Jonathan Nolan intended the series to draw inspiration from the games rather than directly replicate them. His team expanded the epic game setting into dramatic new television stories. In one episode, costume designer Amy Wescott dressed a minor character named Rink similarly to Cricket from Fallout 4. Harvey’s makeup artists further echoed the game character’s appearance. Harvey admitted thinking “nobody’s ever going to catch it.

Fallout is the latest video game franchise to receive a live-action adaptation and fans were blown away by the showrunner’s attention to detail. Adapting a video game to a different medium has been challenging for most filmmakers; however, this project had the advantage of having a fan at the helm.

The filmmakers are faced with the daunting task of expanding the franchise without alienating the established fan base of the source material. Easter eggs are secretly and cleverly placed throughout the series for hardcore fans to discover, while there are some that not even the director was able to spot.
