Image

Viewership for HBO’s “The Penguin” is climbing.

After 11 days since its debut, the series premiere of “The Penguin” has grown its audience to 10.4 million viewers across HBO, Max and other platforms, according to Warner Bros. Discovery viewing data.

That’s nearly double the viewership logged by the DC Studios show over its opening weekend, which saw 5.3 million viewers tune into the “The Batman” spinoff from Thursday, Sept. 19 through Sunday, Sept. 22.

As “The Penguin” moved from its Thursday night premiere slot to its regular Sunday night timeslot for its second episode, Episode 2 drew 1.6 million cross-platform viewers — up 17% from its original Thursday night premiere. Overall, viewership for “The Penguin” is outpacing all current HBO series, excluding “House of the Dragon” and “The Last of Us.”

‘Industry’ Season 3 Finale: Creators Explain When Exactly Yasmin Made Her Shocking Decision — Spoilers
Image
[Editor’s note: This story contains spoilers for “Industry” Season 3, Episode 8, “Infinite Largesse”]

In the Season 3 finale, Lord Norton (Andrew Havill) subtly offers Yasmin (Marisa Abela) a lifeline, a way out from the nightmare her life has become in the wake of her infamous father’s scandalous downfall and death.

“I am fiercely protective of my family, and I always use my not insubstantial power to protect them,” Norton says. “But then again, life is about the family you choose.”

It’s a loaded line in an incredibly written, staged, and acted scene. The Rupert Murdoch-like figure, who wields immense power through his tabloid newspaper, is willing to end the public humiliation and shield Yasmin from substantial economic threats if she is willing to get back together with his wayward nephew Henry Muck (Kit Harrington) and help him get his life back on track.

But it’s that last part, about “the family you choose,” that appears to throw Yasmin for a loop.

‘Industry’ Scores Season 4 Renewal at HBO
Image
HBO is doubling down on the stressful world finance thanks to its Season 4 renewal of “Industry.” The network gave the thumbs up as there are still two episodes to go in the eight-episode Season 3.

“Industry” has long been a cult hit for HBO, but this year the series really took off. So far, the drama is averaging 1.6 million viewers per an episode, which marks a 40% viewership increase compared to Season 2. Viewership for the series over these past five weeks has ranked among the drama’s top five weeks ever. Additionally, social conversations around the series were two times higher than last season and have grown by double digits each week.

This bump may have been impacted by the new Sunday night time slot for “Industry” or the intense push the network gave “Industry” during the final season of “Succession” last year.

“For three seasons, ‘Industry’ has been unflinching in its examination of ambition and class,...

‘Industry’ Season 3 Release Schedule: When Do New Episodes Air?
Myha'la
“Succession” may have come to an end last year, but HBO has another high-stakes drama about the corporate universe up its sleeve — and it’s about time you caught up. Welcome to the scandalous, drug-filled and obscenely rich world of “Industry.”

Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, “Industry” largely revolves around the day-to-day stresses at a London-based investment bank called Pierpoint & Co. When you mix giant egos, no sleep and nearly limitless wealth, it doesn’t take much for this series about financial wins and woes to spiral into chaos. The last time audiences caught up with Harper (Myha’la) and Yasmin (Marisa Abela) was two years ago in 2022. Now “Industry” is returning with a new day of the week and a big-name newcomer to the project: “Game of Thrones” star Kit Harington.

Here’s everything you need to know about when and how to watch Season 3.

Robert Pattinson & Kristen Stewart's 10 Best Movies After Twilight
Image
It's tough for actors to shake off franchise roles, but Pattinson & Stewart are thriving in diverse genres post-Twilight. Pattinson's Batman & Stewart's Oscar nomination show their range & talent beyond Twilight. Movies like The Lighthouse & Love Lies Bleeding highlight Pattinson & Stewart's growth as actors since breaking onto the scene in the supernatural teen movies.

Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart both shot to fame for their roles in the Twilight movies, but they have gone on to have successful careers since the franchise came to an end in 2012. It can be difficult for young actors to break free from the restraints of a big franchise. Audiences often associate them so closely with one particular character that they aren't given the opportunity to prove themselves in other roles.

Pattinson and Stewart are still associated with the Twilight saga, but they are now developing more diverse careers in a wider variety of genres. Pattinson has worked with Christopher Nolan,...

‘Industry’ Season 3 Teaser: Harper May Not Be Done with Pierpoint After All
Image
Sex, drugs, and investment banking. Must mean “Industry” is (finally) back.

In Season 3, Pierpoint & Co. turns toward ethical investing, but probably not for the ethics. Yasmin (Marisa Abela), Robert (Harry Lawtey), and Eric (Ken Leung) are tasked with taking green-tech energy company Lumi, led by Sir Henry Muck (Kit Harington), to the public markets. But before it can IPO, questions about the company’s finances reach the media, and Sir Henry’s pleasant-appearing disposition is overtaken by a much darker personality. Still, there’s nothing like some shirtless handball to blow off some steam.

Meanwhile, Harper (Myha’la) is no longer with Pierpoint, but she’s not out of the game yet. In a lengthy teaser released Tuesday by HBO, it looks like her and Eric may have another go at this whole finance thing. But first, he and Robert have to do some primal screaming.

The returning cast for Season 3 also includes Conor MacNeill,...

That's what Queen Elizabeth II's (Imelda Staunton) longtime advisor and private secretary Robert Fellowes (Andrew Havill) cautions when the Queen, confronted with yet another round of dismal polls, suggests her team "find out what seems to have gone wrong" and how she "could do better." For decades, the monarch has been reluctant to respond to negative feedback, preferring to keep her head down and wait for things to blow over, but with the ultra-popular Prime Minister Tony Blair (Bertie Carvel) being hailed as "King Tony," she can no longer afford to ignore criticism from the public. After all these years, she says, "I think, finally, I'm ready to hear it."...

Doctor Who Audio Review Episode 154 – “The Witch from the Well”
Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

In keeping with Big Finish’s addition of Mary Shelly (Julie Cox) to the 8th Doctor’s (Paul McGann) Tardis, we have something of a horror story, involving witches, religious zealotry and murder. So, basically a Tuesday for the Tardis crew.

Our story begins with Mary saving the lives of two teenage twins from a strange, monstrous creature living inside a recently unsealed well. The twins, Finicia (Alix Wilton Regan) and Lucien (Kevin Trainor) wind up inside the Tardis, and then the Tardis winds up in 17th century England. They’re still all in the same village, but a different time, and yet a place where the twins are recognized.

It turns out they’ve arrived during a witch scare, and a local woman, Agnes (Serena Evans), is about to be burned for witchcraft. She’s surprisingly sanguine about her upcoming fate, but before the Doctor...

Sherlock Holmes Audio Review: Episode 2.2. – “The Reification of Hans Gerber”
Rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars

Fresh off his adventure against Colonel Moran in the previous episode, Sherlock Holmes (Nicholas Briggs), finds himself in something of a funk. He hasn’t left his rooms at Baker Street in a very long time, and everyone, especially his friend, Doctor Watson (Richard Earl), are getting worried.

Watson goes to visit Holmes and arrives just in time for a visit by a young man distraught over the accidental death of his uncle (Terry Molloy), and just about as distraught by the fact that the uncle’s will has disappeared. This is something of an issue because he and his three cousins have survived on their uncle’s wealth for several years.

Holmes takes the case and first visits the body of the uncle. He’s unsurprised to find that the man appears to have been thrown down a staircase after being drugged, rather than simply...

Hop was the big winner at the weekend box office with an almost stunning $38 million take placing it well above industry expectations. Unsurprisingly, the crowd was mostly families and kids under 12. But the parents on my Facebook and Twitter feeds who dared venture out to take in this kid flick were almost universally underwhelmed by it. The kids liked it though, so that's something. It also had the biggest opening weekend of any movie this year. Easter comes early!

Jake Gyllenhaal didn't embarrass himself with the strong, it not wildly impressive, $15 million box office for Source Code. This should mean they'll make their money back (it only cost about $32 million to make) but it continues to cast doubt on Jake's ability to open...

The Easter bunny movie you never asked for, Hop, bounces into theaters this weekend just in time for spring. The mixed live-action/animated pairing of Hugh Laurie and James Marsden should get enough parents and their kids to turn out for a weekend win - maybe. The film hasn't been tracking especially well and, along with its generally terrible reviews, is only expected to gross about $22 million (maybe it goes big and does $25M?). The good news for rabbit fans is that the film cost a meager $63 million, so it should recoup its cost relatively easily.

A more intriguing film opening today is the Jake Gyllenhaal thriller Source Code. It's been getting high marks (and includes the lovely Vera Farmiga and the...
