Lorinda Hawkins Smith

Lorinda is a best selling author, acclaimed actor, advocate, playwright, musician, comedian, and award-winning filmmaker from Altadena. Lorinda learned filmmaking while leading a drama ministry at a church for a number of years. She has worked in social justice theatre for over two decades being recognized by the California Legislature Assembly. Lorinda is a certified domestic violence advocate, and a certified Violence Prevention Specialist and Advisory Circle member for Peace Over Violence. Justice? Or... Just Me? is her acclaimed book and solo play trilogy based on her journey as a domestic violence survivor. Her short film, The Virus, has 9 wins in the film festival circuit. Lorinda is honored to have recently produced the award-winning Twelfth Night for the Actors Co-op. Her comedy has been recognized by the City of Hawthorne and the Burbank Comedy (Covid) Festival. Her portrayal of her shero Bridget "Biddy" Mason can be seen at the Los Angeles Public Library, part of their Historical Portraits Project.
