After a five-year hiatus from the big screen, Chris Tucker eased his way back into Hollywood with a well-received supporting turn in David O. Russell's "Silver Linings Playbook." Two members of the popular Broken Lizard comedy troupe, Kevin Heffernan and Steve Lemme, have sold their comedy High Maintenance to ABC. Deadline reports that the duo are also attached to write and act in the series about “the staff at an upscale Manhattan apartment building.” It will draw inspiration from Lemme’s college years, where he spent time working as an elevator man. There is no news on when production is expected to begin, but fans can catch the duo’s stand-up special Fat Man Little Boy later this year on Netflix....

If you thought that “Knocked Up” was too mature a take on impending fatherhood, then “Babymakers” just might be the movie for you. Directed by Jay Chandrasekhar, it follows the comical misadventures of a husband who is reluctant to discover whether or not his sperm is “confused” – and if so, how he’ll handle getting his wife pregnant. Marginally more sophisticated than Chandrasekhar’s efforts with the comedy troupe Broken Lizard, “Babymakers” starts off solidly before getting sidetracked by set pieces that take over the entire narrative – and ultimately reveal how little of one there was in the first place.

Olivia Munn has signed on to star as the female lead in the indie comedy The Baby Maker.

The Broken Lizard comedy troupe comedy follows a married couple who can't conceive, prompting the husband (Paul Schneider) to enlist his friends' help to rob a sperm bank where he made a deposit as a young man.

Broken Lizard member Jay Chandrasekhar is set to direct from a script by Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow. Other Broken Lizard members include Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, Erik Stolhanske and Kevin Heffernan, all of whom are expected to co-star.

Production is scheduled to start this summer in Los Angeles.

We have a couple quick casting notes to report.  First up, Paul Schneider (Lars and the Real Girl) will star in Broken Lizard's new movie The Baby Maker.  While Broken Lizard will star and the troupe's Jay Chandrasekhar will direct, the script was penned by Ice Age: The Meltdown writers Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow.  Per Variety, "Story follows a married couple who fail to conceive after months of trying, prompting the husband to enlist his friends' help to rob a Pasadena sperm bank, where he made a deposit as a young man.  All of the Broken Lizard members are expected to co-star, with Kevin Heffernan playing the protag's crazy best friend, who hooks him up with an Estonian master thief, played by Chandrasekhar. Other Broken Lizard members include Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske." Why the sperm bank wouldn't simply give him back his own seed is beyond me.

We recently reviewed the DVD release of a new film starring Michael Clarke Duncan which goes by the name of The Slammin’ Salmon, and it’s a pretty fun film (you can read Dave’s review here), and we’re giving you the chance to win a copy on DVD.

The Slammin’ Salmon is a straight DVD release directed by Kevin Heffernan and stars Michael Clarke Duncan alongside comedy troupe, Broken Lizard which includes Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter, and Erik Stolhanske. April Bowlby, Cobie Smulders, Sendhil Ramamurthy and Carrie Clifford complete the cast in this comedy which is released 17th May.

The movie focuses around a restaurant named Slammin’ Salmon which is owned by former boxer, The Champ (Clarke-Duncan) who needs to make $20 000 in one night to pay of a bet which he lost. He lays down the challenge to his table waiting team with a great prize for the person who brings in the highest total but whoever brings in the lowest will face a ‘broken rib sandwich’.

Spurred on by greed and panic, the staff resort to backstabbing, bribery and indecent proposals in an attempt to upsell their patrons while simultaneously sabotaging their co-workers.
