The Most Underrated Horror Movie Sequel of all Time is Now Free to Stream, and it’s Brutal
Image
Let’s be clear about something up front: The Strangers is great. Bryan Bertino’s 2008 home invasion classic about a troubled couple whose lives are upended by three masked killers remains a deeply ominous, chilling, relentless horror experience. It doesn’t need me to defend it.

The Strangers: Prey at Night, though, is a different story.

Released a decade after the original film, co-written by Bertino and directed by 47 Meters Down‘s Johannes Roberts, Prey at Night offers a bigger sandbox, a slight tonal shift, and even more elaborate horror setpieces, but it’s never quite gotten the love or the lasting legacy of its older sibling. That’s a shame, because it’s genuinely one of the best horror sequels of the last decade, and now it’s streaming free on Tubi, so you have no excuse to hold back on diving in.

While the original film is a more intimate affair,...

Image
If you're a Virgin River fan, then you're continuing to wait as patiently as you can for the imminent release of season 7. Virgin River season 7 will once again contain 10 new episodes, and while plot details haven't been revealed by Netflix, we know where the new episodes will be heading based on the various cliffhangers. Mel and Jack's wedding ended with an adoption proposition for the newly married couple and a scare from Charmaine and her babies.

As we anticipate whether Brie will accept Mike's proposal and what will happen with Doc's practice since he's being investigated, we have a new update about season 7 that sheds a little bit of light on what...

Daveigh Chase is most popularly known for her iconic horror role in the 2002 film, The Ring, where she played the terrifying Samara Morgan. For her role in the film, she won the Best Villain award at the 2003 MTV Awards, beating out veterans like Mike Myers, Colin Farrell, Willem Dafoe, and Daniel Day-Lewis.

Following the film American Romance, her career appeared to have come to a pause. At this point, fans can only guess that the actress has possibly retired from Hollywood.

Why Mark Ghanimé's Dr. Cameron Hayek Left Virgin River
Image
Over the course of its first six seasons, Netflix's wildly popular drama series "Virgin River" has introduced viewers to a vast ensemble of characters, even beyond the show's protagonist, Mel Monroe (Alexandra Breckenridge), and the man she falls for, Jack Sheridan (Martin Henderson). While "Virgin River" has a few typical locations, such as Jack's restaurant (fittingly titled Jack's Bar), Mel spends her days as a nurse practitioner working for the town physician, Vernon "Doc" Mullins (Tim Matheson). And throughout the series' lengthy run Doc's home office has allowed Mel to interact with all manner of patients, fellow medical professionals, and other assorted staff members.

Among the relatively recent additions to the series is Dr. Cameron Hayek (Mark Ghanimé), who joined the show in season 4. Because Doc continues to age and has been in danger of losing his eyesight permanently, having a younger doctor on staff made perfect sense. Of course,...

Popular CW Drama With 83% Rt Score's Future Revealed After Becoming a Streaming Success
Image
One of The CW's biggest hits is coming back for another season. Sullivan's Crossing has been renewed for a fourth season, with the romantic drama series set to return to The CW in 2026.

The renewal comes ahead of its Season 3 finale, which airs tonight, July 16, on The CW at 8 p.m. Speaking with Deadline, which first reported the renewal, The CW president Brad Schwartz shared that ordering another 10-episode season of Sullivan's Crossing was an "easy" decision, given that the drama is a Top 3 show on the network by both total audience and 18-49 demographic. Sullivan's Crossing has also become a surprise hit on streaming, with its first two seasons recently ranking as the No. 1 show on Netflix in the United States, with 22 million hours watched in its first week on the platform.

The CW's decision to renew Sullivan's Crossing isn't entirely surprising, considering that CTV had already ordered a fourth season.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith Nearly Got A Spin-Off Starring A Fast And Furious Star
Image
Hollywood adores a remake, whether it's a couple of decades old or merely about to scratch that magical 10-year mark, there's always the possibility of revisiting a property in the hopes of some new eyeballs. It rarely works out that way, or at least, as well as the people in charge would hope, but that doesn't stop every channel, studio, or streaming outfit from trying their luck. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" is a film that's had two different reboot or remake attempts since hitting screens back in 2005, and one of those efforts didn't even make it to air. Jordana Brewster and Martin Henderson tried their best to elevate "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" nearly 20 years ago, but maybe the darker action comedy was still a bit ahead of its time for television. Now, that effort lives on a genuine curiosity that functions more as a Wikipedia-style footnote than anything immediately memorable.

If Virgin River Wasn’t Emotional Enough, Netflix Dropped Its Steamier Twin
Image
Just when fans thought Virgin River delivered peak emotional comfort, Netflix quietly added Sullivan’s Crossing, its steamier Canadian twin, to its roster, and so far, the show has been wreaking havoc on the streaming platform.

Also based on Robyn Carr’s novels of the same name, the show features the same cozy small-town vibe with a neurosurgeon lead, small-town scandals, and bigger romantic sparks. While we await the next season of VR, its twin is the perfect hug-your-pillow show with just a bit more heat.

Sullivan’s Crossing is a Lot Similar to Virgin River Chad Michael Murray and Morgan Kohan in a still from Sullivan’s Crossing | Credits: Netflix

Although Sullivan’s Crossing and Virgin River are not exactly carbon copies, they do share several similar traits. While VR is all about slow-burn warmth and family‑first drama, Sullivan’s Crossing is more emotionally charged, blending heartfelt moments with sensual undertones.

Earlier this week, Sullivan's Crossing, the CTV and CW series, officially became the No. 1 show in the United States and bumped Squid Game season 3 to the No. 2 spot on the list for the first time since the season premiered on June 27.

The first two seasons of Sullivan's Crossing, which stars Chad Michael Murray, Morgan Kohan, Scott Patterson, Tom Jackson, and Andrea Menard, were just added to Netflix in July 2025. Virgin River Season 7: Release Window, Production, Cast & All We Know About Netflix’s Small-Town Saga So Far
Image
Everything We Know About Netflix’s Virgin River Season 7 So Far(Photo Credit –Netflix)

Virgin River is not done with your emotions. Netflix’s fan-favorite small-town saga is officially rolling into its seventh season, and while the pace of life in the fictional northern town might be slow, the drama behind the scenes? Anything but. This time, old ties are being tested. And fresh faces are moving in, some with secrets, others with second chances. The season looks ready to stir the pot in a big way.

Virgin River Season 7: Production Timeline

Filming for Season 7 kicked off back on March 12, 2025, and the cameras were expected to stop rolling by June 26. With 10 episodes lined up, the show’s return date is still a mystery. Netflix hasn’t stamped a launch window yet, but given the radio silence on 2025 content lists, early 2026 (maybe around Valentine’s Day) feels more realistic than a late-2025 release.

Virgin River season 7 continues filming in an unexpected location
Image
Last week, the Virgin River cast had fans extremely excited with the most recent update about the hit Netflix romantic drama series. As cameras stopped rolling on season 7, the cast shared various posts on social media celebrating that filming had officially wrapped on the upcoming new season. However, there's now word that cameras might not have stopped rolling as we previously thought.

As What's on Netflix reports, Alexandra Breckenridge and Martin Henderson were spotted filming scenes for Virgin River season 7 in Yucatan, Mexico. It's the first time that the series has filmed somewhere other than Canada, which clearly makes whatever's happening in this storyline a special event. They were the only two cast members seen filming in Mexico. Well, so far.

Breckenridge and Henderson were photographed filming by the water, which seems to lend to some predictions that Mel and Jack could be on their honeymoon... or even perhaps it's a babymoon.

Hellish Hags and Grisly Grandmas: Six Modern Horror Films Featuring Dangerous Older Women
Image
We’re accustomed to viewing the elderly as kind and benevolent. Perhaps they’re our diminutive granny still married to her landline or our chatty great aunt who’s obsessed with her garden. We make duty calls on Sundays and trust them to safeguard family traditions. They are pleasant, benign, and ultimately absent from the day to day bustle of everyday life.

But the horror genre knows better with sinister octogenarians hiding in plain sight. They may fool us with quaint sayings, rambling stories, and a slightly vacant smile, but they’re often just as devious as women half their age.

Karl R. Hearne’s The G. follows an extremely dangerous older lady. Nicknamed “The G,” Ann Hunter (Dale Dickey) may seem feeble and frail, but when she’s forced into elder care by a devious thief, she has no problem taking justice into her own gnarled hands. Dickey stuns...

Aspiring Horror Cinematographers: Learn How Ari Aster and Ti West Scare the Hell Out of You
Image
Horror is one of the richest genres to explore tension, mood, and emotion. For cinematographers, it’s a playground for visual experimentation: From the shadowy monster movies of the 1930s to the neon nightmares of modern indie horror, the genre offers endless opportunity to push style and technique.

For emerging cinematographers, understanding how the “X” trilogy, “I Saw the TV Glow,” and “Midsommar” adapted lighting, lenses, formats, and color science to evoke fear and beauty is essential. These DPs didn’t just point and shoot; they designed entire emotional systems.

10 Hit Horror Movies That Aren't As Good As You Remember
Image
It's no secret that nostalgia paints everything in rosy colors, making it harder to recognize when something we once loved no longer holds up. This happens frequently in the world of film, where childhood emotions blind us to the flaws of a genuinely crappy picture. We don't want to admit that something that once stirred us to our core has lost its luster -- and honestly, there's no shame in that. We've all been there.

Still, part of growing up is accepting some hard truths. Steven Spielberg's "Hook" isn't all that great. Michael Bay probably never had it. "Pulp Fiction" and "The Shawshank Redemption" are leagues better than "Forrest Gump." And "Back to the Future Part II and III" never should have happened. There -- don't you feel a little better?

No? Well, buckle up. Here's an even tougher exercise: a list of 10 hit horror movies that aren't as good as you remember.

Jake Gyllenhaal's Star-Studded Disaster Drama Is Climbing Netflix's Top Charts
Image
While Netflix's slick but empty "The Electric State" has added to an already bleak streaming landscape, Jake Gyllenhaal is having nothing short of a streaming renaissance. Gyllenhaal's creepy sci-fi horror "Life" is a hit on Prime Video at the same time his and Michael Peña's action thriller is crushing it over on Max. Now, yet another Gyllenhaal-led thriller is ascending the Netflix charts, meaning the actor has claimed a spot in the rankings of the biggest streamer in the game at the same time he's dominating rival platforms — though he's had a bit of help with his latest streaming triumph.
