The horror genre is known to be one of the most liberal forms of movie making, it’s willing to take risks and to allow the more unsavoury side of cinema into its realm. I know many will read that and not agree, pulling examples out of their hats to show the PG-13 box office hits to say “this is hardly risk taking”, but this is not the point.
