New Us Trailer for Neolithic Survival Film 'Iceman' with Jürgen Vogel
"At first, the man was believed to be a hiker. Later, his stone age origins were revealed..." Film Movement has debuted a new official Us trailer for Iceman, a stone age survival thriller set in the snowy Ötztal Alps (located on Austria / Italy border). This premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2017, and we originally posted a trailer for it back then. This could be described as an early Neolithic man version of The Revenant, about one man who angrily seeks revenge but must first survive the brutal Ötztal Alps. Jürgen Vogel stars as Kelab, with the full cast including Susanne Wuest, André Hennicke, Violetta Schurawlow, Sabin Tambrea, Martin Schneider, and an appearance by Franco Nero. The film uses an early version of the Rhaetic language. This actually looks pretty damn good, with some epic footage and plenty of gnarly beards. Here's the new official Us trailer (+ another poster) for Felix Randau's Iceman,...

Fantasia Review: ‘S.U.M.1’ is a High Concept, Low Budget One-Man Sci-Fi Show
It’s been decades since a new world order changed Earth forever, an alien invasion by creatures known as the Nonesuch forcing humanity underground. The old guard who survived remembers the war that drove them subterranean, memories of life on the surface and the beasts that present-day generations hope to never encounter. If any of them do want to risk their lives for a glimpse of the sun they’ve only heard about through stories, though, they can enlist in the military and become a soldier tasked with a one hundred day mission meant to find stragglers and point them towards sanctuary: Exilium. Battles still rage, but humanity has all but resigned itself to its defeat. Now it’s a matter of staying alive to save those who were left behind.

This is the background to Christian Pasquariello’s debut feature S.U.M.1 — a high concept, low budget one-man science fiction show.

First Trailer for Survival Revenge Film 'Iceman' About a Neolithic Man
"They found a man, but not his story..." A trailer has debuted for a film titled Iceman, which is premiering at the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland kicking off this week. This film could be described as an ancient Neolithic man version of The Revenant, about one man who angrily seeks revenge but must first survive the brutal Ötztals Alps. Jürgen Vogel stars as Kelab, with the full cast including Susanne Wuest, André Hennicke, Violetta Schurawlow, Sabin Tambrea, Martin Schneider, and an appearance by Franco Nero. I'm intrigued enough to watch. Here's the first official trailer (+ German poster) for Felix Randau's Iceman, direct from YouTube: 5000 years ago: A man lives with his woman and their children in the Ötztals Alps.

Germany's Studio Babelsberg to return to local production
Production lot has previously housed international productions including Wes Anderson’s The Grand Budapest Hotel.

Studio Babelsberg is returning to the development of in-house German-language production and co-productions with local producers.

To this end, the studios on the outskirts of Berlin have set up a joint production outfit, Traumfabrik Babelsberg GmbH (literally translated as Dream Factory Babelsberg) with producer Tom Zickler, who left Barefoot Films (which he co-founded with actor-filmmaker Til Schweiger) last summer after 12 years.

The studio’s new production arm, which will be managed by Zickler with Studio Babelsberg’s vice president and COO Christoph Fisser, begins operations on February 1, 2017.

For Zickler, this new venture will be a form of homecoming. He worked on the studio lot in the mid-1980s when it was the East German state-run Defa Studios.

In addition, the Babelsberg studio lot was also the address for his first production company before he joined forces with Schweiger and actor André Hennicke in 1996 to...

The preview features one of the most memorable sequences from the film in which Gelsomina first shows off her bit of performance art with the bee.

Oscar-Nominated Film Series: Ganz's Memorable Hitler Has Become the Stuff That Parodies Are Made Of
'Downfall' movie: Bruno Ganz as Adolf Hitler 'Downfall' movie: Overlong and overwrought World War II drama lifted by several memorable performances Oliver Hirschbiegel's German box office hit Downfall / Der Untergang is a generally engrossing psychological-historical drama whose emotional charge is diluted by excessive length, an overabundance of characters, and a tendency to emphasize the more obvious aspects of the narrative. Several key performances – including Bruno Ganz's now iconic Adolf Hitler – help to lift Downfall above the level of myriad other World War II movies. Nazi Germany literally goes under In Downfall, which by the end of 2004 had been seen by more than 4.5 million German moviegoers, Nazi Germany is about to lose the war. In his underground bunker, Adolf Hitler (Bruno Ganz) grows increasingly out of touch with reality as he sees his dream of Deutschland über alles go kaput. Some of those under his command are equally incapable of thinking coherently.

Berlin Adds Competition Titles From Jafar Panahi, Werner Herzog, Bill Condon

This latest film, Taxi, stars the director, although other details were not immediately available.

Also in the mix is the world premiere, out of competition, of Bill Condon’s Mr. Holmes, starring Ian McKellen, Laura Linney, Milo Parker, Hiroyuki Sanada and Hattie Morahan. McKellen plays the titular detective as he nears the end of his days and revisits an unsolved case which forced him into retirement.

Exclusive: David Cronenberg Talks A Dangerous Method
David Cronenberg
Director David Cronenberg takes us behind-the-scenes of A Dangerous Method, Cosmopolis, and more.

Director David Cronenberg has found success in every genre he's worked in. The filmmaker became well known for his horror fare in the 1970s and 1980s (The Brood, Scanners, Videodrome, The Fly) and tackled a variety of different dramas in the 1990s (Naked Lunch, M. Butterfly, Crash, eXistenZ). After decades as a cult favorite, the filmmaker broke into the mainstream with hits A History of Violence and Eastern Promises. The director's latest is the wonderful period drama A Dangerous Method, which explores the unique relationships between pioneering psychologists Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender), and Sabina Spierlein (Keira Knightley). I recently had the chance to sit down with David Cronenberg to discuss A Dangerous Method, which arrives in New York and Los Angeles theaters November 23. Here's what he had to say below.

Trailer of David Cronenberg's 'A Dangerous Method'
The trailer of the film A Dangerous Method is now online. The release date for this film from Canadian director David Cronenberg (Eastern Promises) is set for December 23 in Montreal.

The story takes place on the eve of World War I in Austria. At that time, psychology, as a science, was still in its infancy. Carl Jung (Michael Fassbender) and Sigmund Freud (Viggo Mortensen), respectively a Swiss psychologist/psychiatrist and an Austrian neurologist, meet for the first time. This is because Freud is enthralled by Jung's favourable views on psychoanalysis, a method that Freud pioneered.

The film will mostly document the moment when Carl Jung treats Sabiena Spielrein (Keira Knightley), a patient who suffers from hysteria. Despite being married to Emma Jung (Sarah Gadon), Carl Jung gets into a extramarital relationship with Sabina Spielrein. In 1909, this relation might become public and Jung talks about it to Freud.

This film, which...

Pandorum (Mike's Film Review)
Ever since Alien was pitched as “a haunted house movie in space” 30 years ago, it seems like there have been more of those damned houses out amongst the stars than there have been on Earth. Genre fans (particularly those who have frequented the Sci Fi/Syfy channel) have long gotten used to the sight of interstellar travelers creeping/running down futuristic corridors in search of/away from some cosmic threat or other. Pandorum, produced by the team behind one of the bigger/gorier examples of the subgenre, Event Horizon, is a fairly successful attempt to do something a little different with the formula.

The opening scenes get the movie off to an effectively claustrophobic/mysterious start, as a young man suddenly awakens in a cryogenic sleep pod somewhere within the bowels of an expansive spacecraft (which we’re told at the start is the Elysium, on a colonization run to...
