10 Worst Cameos In DC Movies & TV Shows
Image
Like love and marriage, comic book movies and cameos are an institute you cannot disparage. Marvel might be the trailblazer in this regard, finding unique and innovative ways to shoehorn everyone and their uncle into a movie or TV show, but DC isn't immune from turning its audience into a real-life Pointing Rick Dalton meme. Yet, for every great appearance, there's also a flubber -- a moment that flops harder than "Joker: Folie à Deux" did at the box office.

Take a look at 2023's "The Flash" as an example. With all its multiversal potential, minds raced to the infinite possibilities, imagining the chances of seeing Christian Bale's Batman return for a triumphant third act cameo or even seeing Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern fly in for a visit. Instead, it turned into a CGI horrorfest where the tributes to past heroes angered -- rather than captivated -- viewers. It...

En Vogue Singer Dawn Robinson Says She’s Homeless, Has Been Living In Her Car For 3 …
Image
Reading Time: 3 minutes

Throughout the 1990s, En Vogue was one of the biggest acts in music.

The group sold over 20 million records on the strength of six top ten hits on the Billboard Hot 100.

Songs like “My Lovin’ (You’re Never Gonna Get It)” and “Free Your Mind” remain popular more than 30 years after their release, and fans probably assumed that the group’s original stars are comfortably retired from the music business.

So for many, it came as quite a shock to learn that founding member Dawn Robinson has been homeless since 2021.

‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals First Season 8 Costume, the Dragon ‘Bride’ (Exclusive)
Image
After last season’s controversial decision to include a disgraced politician who is the target of a criminal investigation involving the attempts in 2020 to overthrow the democratically-elected President of the United States, “The Masked Singer” returns next month with a new crop of contestants — and Variety has a first look at one of the costumes.

“Bride,” the dragon-esque character as seen above, reps the first character to be introduced so far for the Season 8 of “Masked Singer.” Bride was created by costume designer Tim Chappel, who has also designed creations for the Australian version of the series.

Fox has so far not revealed any other characters. But the show is having some fun with speculation on social media (and on the Fox-owned TMZ website) that NFL superstar Tom Brady may appear on the new season, since he’s been missing from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers training camp.

The show, which returns Wednesday,...

‘The Masked Singer’ Reveals Identities of Queen Cobra and Space Bunny: Here Are the Stars Under the Mask
Image
Spoiler Alert: Do not read ahead if you have not watched Season 7, Episode 9, of “The Masked Singer,” “One Mask Hurrah – Round 3 Finals,” which aired May 4 on Fox.

Alas, En Vogue couldn’t hold on, and this time, it was Shaggy. Both 1990s artists were eliminated on Wednesday night during the Round 3 finales of this season’s “The Masked Singer.”

The En Vogue trio of Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron and Rhona Bennett were unmasked as the Queen Cobra, while Shaggy was revealed to be the Space Bunny.

For Queen Cobra, Nicole Scherzinger figured out it was En Vogue, and Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg agreed. Robin Thicke thought it was another 90s R&b group, Swv; and Ken Jeong went big with the more contemporary combo of Ariana Grande/Jessie J/Nicki Minaj.

As for Space Bunny, Thicke was correct with Shaggy, and Scherzinger agreed. McCarthy Wahlberg thought it was Sean Kingston and Ken Jeong guessed Owen Wilson.

The Masked Singer (2019)
‘Masked Singer': Queen Cobras and Space Bunny Weren’t Surprised the Judges Knew Their Identities
The Masked Singer (2019)
(Warning: This post contains spoilers for Wednesday’s “The Masked Singer.”)

It appears to be ’90s week on “The Masked Singer.” During the Round 3 Finals on Wednesday, both Space Bunny and Queen Cobras were eliminated from the competition.

Queen Cobras was revealed to be R&b group En Vogue, while Space Bunny was none other than Shaggy. The judges were on a roll this week, managing to guess the correct identities for each before they were unmasked.

Shaggy was the first to go home after his performance of “Now That We Found Love.” Before he was revealed, judge Robin Thicke managed to correctly guess that he was behind the cuddly astronaut costume. In all honesty, the reggae singer told TheWrap he wasn’t too surprised that the judges were able to figure out his identity — and he actually expected it sooner.

“It took too damn long! With the exception of Jenny McCarthy,...

‘The Masked Singer’ spoilers: Who is Queen Cobra?
Image
The most powerful singer so far on “The Masked Singer” season 7 is masquerading as Queen Cobra. While a half dozen cobras appeared on the stage on April 20, only one of them sang “Good as Hell” by Lizzo. But we think that this is a red herring as we are convinced that the soloist is actually one of many in a group. We were proven right on April 27 when many of the Queen Cobras on-stage joined together to sing “I Say a Little Prayer For You” by Aretha Franklin. Keep reading for all “The Masked Singer” spoilers including the answer to the question, “Who is Queen Cobra”?

We think that the Queen Cobra is En Vogue, with Cindy Herron in the solo spotlight for that first appearance. There is just no mistaking her distinctive voice. But remember, we were shown a visual of a pair of Queen cobras, which seems to...

En Vogue Brings the Heat to ‘Free Your Mind’ at Billboard Music Awards
Image
En Vogue closed out a very odd Billboard Music Awards ceremony on Wednesday night with a rock-out performance of their 1992 single “Free Your Mind.”

Decked out in all-black outfits, the current En Vogue trio of Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, and Rhona Bennett exchanged vocal belts in front of a live rock band, briefly giving way to their guitarist’s ripping solo. “Free your mind and the rest will follow/Be color blind, don’t be so shallow,” they sang together. The political message of “Free Your Mind” was not lost on the group,...

Harmonies, Heroes and Heroin: New Doc Traces the Story of Doo-Wop
Brent Wilson
“Harmony, harmony, harmony — no band, no nothing,” explains Charlie Thomas of the Drifters in director Brent Wilson’s Streetlight Harmonies, a new doc tracing the history of doo-wop (premiering tonight on VOD). Doo-wop could be swoony and romantic, playful and mischievous. It was the sweet-voiced sibling to the insouciant rock & roll being made at the same time, and genre classics like “I Only Have Eyes for You,” “In the Still of the Night,” “I Wonder Why,” “Speedoo,” and “Why Must Fools Fall in Love” remade the sound of syncopated pop...

En Vogue: What Happened After the R&B Group Lost Its Harmony
Although most people don't think of rock bands and R&B groups as corporations, the truth is that many are established by charter and members are equivalent to shareholders. There's also good reason why it might be best to have an odd number of core members -- like 3 or 5 or 7. In the 1990s, the female R&B group En Vogue burst onto the music scene as a sophisticated reincarnation of the girl groups from a previous doo-wop era. Cindy Herron-Braggs, Maxine Jones, Dawn Robinson and Terry Ellis were the original lineup who produced such hits as "Hold On,
