All seems to be well between Cheers co-stars Ted Danson and Kelsey Grammer after the acting legends buried their long-running dispute in multiple interviews. However, the wait for an on-screen reunion lingers on, with Danson revealing why he opted not to appear in Grammer's now-canceled Frasier reboot.
Speaking on the Howie Mandel Does Stuff Podcast, Danson explained why he decided against returning as Sam Malone in the modern-day version of the beloved sitcom. According to the A Man on the Inside star, his decision was due to doubts over whether he could play an older Malone. "I didn't know how to ... how the f**k do you play Sam Malone in his 60s or now 70s?" he said. "It's amusing to be an aging adolescent when you're in your 30s [or] 40s, but not when you're in your 70s. So, I thought, I don't know how to do that."
"I would have felt at sea.

If the Frasier reboot continues, star and producer Kelsey Grammer believes an on-screen reunion is possible between him and his Cheers castmate Ted Danson in his rebooted sitcom. However, Grammer insists this won't lead to a Cheers reboot as he gives a definitive update on the hit parent series.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer explored the possibilities of a third season of his Frasier reboot, should it find a new home after its Paramount+ cancelation in January. According to Grammer, who claimed it's "very possible" the series will continue elsewhere, he suggested Danson could appear in Season 3 after the duo's recent public burial of the hatchet following their Cheers fallout. “Ted and I might visit actually something together,” Grammer said. “We’ve been talking about a couple ideas. Maybe on Frasier. We don’t know.” However, Grammer stated that "there’s certainly still some fields to be mined...

Acclaimed actor Kelsey Grammer believes there are plenty more tossed salads and scrambled eggs left to cook up as he provides a hopeful update about his canceled Frasier reboot. The lead actor and producer of the revived sitcom is confident that a third season of the revived show will happen and calls out Paramount for putting the series on the chopping block.
Speaking with the New York Post, Grammer addressed the status of the Frasier reboot, which Paramount canceled this past January after two seasons. Grammer stated he's "very positive" the series will air again. However, Grammer clarified his feelings about Paramount's treatment of the show, suggesting changing leadership led to the studio not treating it with the care it deserved, including a lack of marketing.

For three decades and two iterations, Frasier remains the one show fans cherish when thinking about Kelsey Grammer. However, Grammer reveals that if it hadn't been for the intervention of Paramount's boss, he would have gone in a different direction after his Cheers run ended.
During an interview on NPR's Bullseye with Jesse Thorn, Grammer confirmed he wasn't eyeing a Cheers spinoff featuring Dr. Crane after the hit series' conclusion. Instead, Grammer pitched a pilot to then-Paramount president John Pike chronicling a Malcolm Forbes-like media mogul who was paralyzed from the waist down following a serious accident and befriended his physical therapist during recovery. Though Grammer thought it "was time to let Frasier go," and felt the pilot script was "pretty funny," Pike rejected the idea, believing a Frasier spinoff had promise given how well fans connected with his Cheers character. Pike bluntly told Grammer, “Kelsey, I think a sitcom should befunny,...

Though the Frasier reboot remains in limbo after its recent cancelation by Paramount Studios, the sitcom's breakout star is optimistic it will continue elsewhere. Star Nicholas Lyndhurst remains all-in on the revival series, hoping the show gets a third season on a new streamer or network.
Via The Sun, Lyndhurst, who stars as Alan Cornwall in the Frasier reboot, sees strong potential in the show, with sources close to the actor keeping positive that another outlet will acquire it given the foundations the first two seasons laid. “The early episodes were a little shaky but they improved very quickly," the source said. "It takes time for the writers and actors playing the characters to really interact, and the second series saw that begin to pay off."

Paramount+ has cancelled the revived version of Frasier after two series. The show is now being shopped to other networks.
Frasier is undoubtably one of the most beloved American sitcoms of all time. Spun-off from Cheers, itself an 11 season American institution, Frasier had some of the wittiest writing on television, elevated by the magnificent casting of David Hyde Pierce as Frasier’s equally fastidious brother Niles.
Along with the much missed John Mahoney as their dad, Martin, Jane Leeves as housekeeper Daphne Moon and Peri Gilpin as acerbic producer Roz Doyle, over 11 seasons the show became embedded in American culture.
According to Deadline, Paramount+ has decided not to move forward with a third series. One of the reasons given is that the show “could not break through in a major way on Paramount+”.
However, the creative team are shopping the show to other networks. There may yet be a future for the show.

Frasier Crane will once again be looking for a new home.
Paramount+ says it won’t go ahead with a third season of Frasier, its revival of the Must See TV-era NBC comedy starring Kelsey Grammer. The news comes two months after the show’s second season concluded.
CBS Studios, which produces the show, says it will look to find a new home for Frasier, which follows Dr. Frasier Crane (Grammer) as he returns to Boston and takes a teaching post at Harvard in order to forge a better relationship with his now-adult son Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott). Nicholas Lyndhurst, Toks Olagundoye, Jess Salguiero and Anders Keith also star; Frasier alumni Peri Gilpin, Bebe Neuwirth, Harriet Sansom Harris, Dan Butler and Edward Hibbert have made guest appearances.
The first rumblings of a Frasier revival came in early 2021; Paramount+ gave it a series order in October 2022, and it premiered a year later.

A major update has been revealed for the future of the Frasier revival series on Paramount+. Unfortunately, it's very bad news for fans of the show.
Per Deadline, it has been revealed that Paramount+ is not moving forward with a third season of the new Frasier series. While this is undoubtedly a big blow for the cast and crew just as much as the fans, not all hope is lost for the show just yet. CBS Studios will reportedly shop the series to other potential outlets, so there's a chance it could be saved with a pickup for Season 3 elsewhere. However, the series is not likely to come to CBS television, which already has a packed schedule with no room left for the Frasier revival.

Frasier‘s return has hit a major bump. Paramount+ has opted not to renew the Kelsey Grammer-led comedy for a third season. Producer CBS Studios remains committed to the series and plans to shop it to other outlets.
Those are not expected to include the most logical home for a multi-camera sitcom that originated on broadcast — CBS Studios’ sibling CBS. The network, which is eying a planted spinoff of The Neighborhood among other comedies in development, has no current shelf space available. Possibilities include Prime Video and Hulu, which both carry the library of Frasier‘s original run. Seasons 1 and 2 of the revival, along with the original library episodes, will remain available on Paramount+.
Paramount+ ordered Frasier to series in 2022 with James Burrows directing the first episode. Season 1 premiered a year later and Season 2 dropped in September.

With the Frasier reboot happening nearly two decades after the decorated original sitcom ended, more modern ways exist to engage with audiences and gauge their feelings towards the updated series. One of the revival's producers reveals one intriguing way he tracks audience approval and interest following the recent conclusion of its second season.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Frasier reboot co-creators and showrunners, Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris, shared how they've been tracking viewer reactions for each episode. According to Cristalli, they've been visiting the Frasier subreddit to see how fans reacted to the revival, with the reviews being largely positive, especially from "superfans" who've followed since the original series aired. While not a carbon copy of its predecessor, the Frasier reboot continues to carry the legacy of the Emmy-winning original series. However, the revival series' producers insist that no matter how much the updated show tries to build that legacy, it will "never" match the Og version for various reasons.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, co-showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris delved into the Frasier reboot so far and why it was important to re-establish connections with the original series during Season 2, particularly during Episode 8, "Thank You, Dr. Crane." While he was "excited" to bring back Og characters for the Seattle return episode, which saw Kelsey Grammer's eponymous protagonist bid one last goodbye to Kacl, Cristalli said there's a "balancing act" that's done to ensure the reboot isn't living off nostalgia and relying on the original show.

[This story contains spoilers from the season two finale of Frasier.]
Midway through the first episode of Frasier’s second season, star Kelsey Grammer picks up an Enchanted Snooker Ball — think of a British Magic 8-Ball — and asks, “Does Frasier Crane still got it?” The answer — “Indubitably” — does the opposite of comforting him as he continues settling into life back in Boston. Instead, it sends Dr. Crane on a warpath. His anger is warranted, because moments earlier he discovered that the toy gave the same answer to his son when he questioned quitting Harvard to become a fireman. Frasier frantically shakes the ball again, asking if his curmudgeon best friend Alan Cornwall (played masterfully by Nicholas Cornwall) used the same toy to give his son the advice. The ball answers, “Obviously, you bloody fool.”
The joke lands so well that the laughter from the live audience can still be heard long after the scene ends.

One neat aspect of the original "Frasier" series is that it featured a bunch of bonafide Hollywood legends as guest stars we never actually got to see. While many renowned actors showed up in the physical — from Michael Keaton to Linda Hamilton — many more only lent their voice to the beloved sitcom, calling into Frasier's Kacl talk radio show for some advice from the good doctor. In fact, before she appeared on the show's fourth season as Molly, a potential love interest for Frasier who quickly gets away, Linda Hamilton herself called into Dr. Crane's radio show in the pilot episode, voicing the character of Claire, a woman struggling to get over her ex-boyfriend.
Over the course of 11 seasons, many more prestigious guest stars called Frasier for advice. Kevin Bacon, Mary Tyler Moore, Carrie Fisher, Billy Crystal, Macaulay Culkin, Helen Mirren, and Bill Paxton are just some examples. But it wasn't just actors.

Much like the original series, the "Frasier" revival has continued to provide an array of guest stars with each new episode. Any fan of "Frasier" will know that while the titular doctor is the star of the show, the series itself would have been nothing without its ensemble. The beloved sitcom ran from 1993 to 2004 and managed to sustain its quality throughout — a rarity for any show, but certainly for sitcoms of the era if you consider that even "Friends" was cranking out some of its worst episodes by its tenth and final season.
A big part of what gave "Frasier" its durability was its ensemble, which comprised not only multiple other main characters, but also an entire world of supporting and guest characters that made Dr. Crane's world feel like a real, living place. Of course, the main cast itself was most crucial to this aspect of the series, with John Mahoney's Crane patriarch, Martin, and David Hyde Pierce's Niles, the equally fastidious yet lovable brother of Frasier, being the most integral.

“Frasier” returns to Seattle in this week’s episode, and Variety has a first look at Frasier Crane’s visit to his old stomping grounds. That includes a stop at Café Nervosa — the coffeeshop where Frasier and his brother Niles would often meet over beverages — and a reunion at Frasier’s old Kacl radio studio.
“As fans, getting to revisit some of the iconic sets and characters of the original series was one of the highlights of the season for us,” said exec producers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli in a joint statement. “As producers, we couldn’t believe what a pain it was to find 90s-era radio equipment.”

While the Frasier reboot is slowly but surely bringing back some familiar faces from the original show, one actor casts doubt on a potential appearance in the updated sitcom. Og series actor Wendie Malick believes it wouldn't "feel right" to feature without one of its most beloved stars.
Speaking with TV Insider, Malick, who played the late John Mahoney's on-screen love interest throughout the original Frasier's 11-season run, admits her connection with him makes it hard to consider a return. "Its sort of like when people ask me about Just Shoot Me. Without George Segal, I just dont think it would feel right. I had such a connection to John Mahoney playing his love interest and finally marrying him that Im not sure that I want to revisit that," Malicl said.

Frasier sees Kelsey Grammer's central character handle some "unfinished business" in Seattle as the sitcom returns to its original home. Grammer and the revival's executive producer, Chris Harris, reveal why they felt the time was right for Dr. Crane to return to the Northwest.
Speaking with The Seattle Times, Frasier reboot producer and co-creator Chris Harris addressed the idea behind Season 2, Episode 8, "Thank You, Dr. Crane," which sees Frasier revisit his famous Kacl booth one more time in an emotional Og reunion. According to Harris, Grammer felt the revival needed to return to its spiritual home, having "romanticized" Seattle and wanted to tie up some loose ends from the original series. Kelsey felt like (Frasier) had some unfinished business there, Harris said. It kind of feels like (Frasier) romanticized Seattle in his head, but obviously, its just not the same place. The following contains spoilers for the Frasier reboot Season 2, Episode 5, "The Squash Courtship of Freddy's Father," now available on Paramount+.
The Frasier reboot could see Kelsey Grammer's lead character return to the talk show circuit, despite starting a new career in his Boston return. The revival series' producers tease the possibility, claiming it would be "fun" if Dr. Crane did daytime television again.
Speaking with TV Insider, Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli were asked what it would take for Frasier Crane to host a talk show again on the reboot. While the series creators aren't sure if it will happen, the return of Frasier's devious agent Bebe Glazer (Harriet Sansom Harris) alongside her daughter Phoebe (Rachel Bloom) could be the driving force that makes it happen. Even while the "Frasier" revival has struggled to match the original series, which ran from 1993 to 2004, the show is punctuated by moments of real charm. Most of those come as the result of pure jolts of nostalgia: the show is at its best when it brings in elements of its unimpeachably great predecessor.
Episode three of the "Frasier" revival was bittersweet for this very reason, bringing back Peri Gilpin as Frasier's former producer Roz Doyle and delivering one of the best installments of the reboot yet. Now, the revival has proven once again that all we really want to see is Frasier back with the characters we know and love. But this time, it isn't a main character that's restoring the charm to "Frasier."

Having played Dr. Frasier Crane since the '80s, Kelsey Grammer knows his time as one of the biggest sitcom characters in history is closer to ending. The long-time Frasier star gets philosophical as he pictures how he wants the curtains to close on his ongoing reboot.
Speaking with the New York Times, Grammer laid out his vision for ending Frasier, which is in Season 2 of its second run following a decorated 11-year stint between 1993 and 2004. The Emmy-winning actor cited a famous poem by Alfred Tennyson, believing his central character must have "a place to go" when it's all said and done. The Frasier reboot is back with its second season on Paramount Plus. Later this season, viewers will see Dr. Frasier Crane (Kelsey Grammer) return to Seattle, where the original series was set. For those who haven't kept up with Frasier following the original show's conclusion, the iconic television character now resides in Boston, where his character was first introduced during Cheers' third season. The Frasier reboot sees Dr. Frasier Crane return to the city and the radio station that made him famous, as the radio psychiatrist-turned-professor goes back to Seattle and Kacl 780 late in Season 2. Aside from reacquainting with his former stomping grounds and ex-colleagues, Frasier's return stems, in part, from an underlying story thread including his close friend, Roz Doyle.
Speaking with Parade Magazine, Frasier star and producer Kelsey Grammer teased one tidbit about the nostalgia-filled Seattle return, which takes place in Season 2, Episode 8, "Thank You, Dr. Crane." According to the Emmy-winning star, the trip back to the Og Frasier's home city ties to Peri Gilpin's Roz, as Roz is seemingly set to join Frasier in Boston for the long haul.

Whenever a beloved show like “Frasier” is revived, it’s easy to anticipate skepticism from the original iteration’s diehard fans, given the challenges of living up to its predecessor with new characters and storylines.
But with the first installment of the Paramount+ series under their belts — and the show set to return for Season 2 this week — co-showrunners Joe Cristalli and Chris Harris told TheWrap they’re feeling less pressured and more excited for an “even more fun” and “sometimes convoluted” new set of stories.
“The first season was really about catching us up with Frasier, where he is in life, and establishing the world and introducing these characters to everyone,” Harris explained. ‘In Season 2, we’ve had a lot more fun playing with these characters and showing their interactions with each other. It’s really just deepening the world and a couple things that we held back on in the first season.

As the Frasier reboot series begins its second season, star and executive producer Kelsey Grammer admits he never saw himself returning to portraying the show's eponymous character. The Emmy-winning actor reveals he didn't think he'd play Dr. Frasier Crane again after plans to continue the Og sitcom were "abandoned."
Speaking with Screen Rant, Grammer recalled conversations with then-NBC president Jeff Zucker when the original Frasier's 11-season run ended. Grammer felt Frasier could go "a couple more" seasons as he wasn't "bored" playing the titular character. However, creative shifts halted any ideas to continue Frasier, leading to him focusing on film and stage roles.

Kelsey Grammer could be ready to unleash his Beast in the Marvel Cinematic Universe again. The Frasier star confirms "some conversations" have happened with Marvel about a potential return for his character after a cameo in The Marvels.
Speaking with Comicbook.com, Grammer was asked whether he'd reprise his role as Beast in future MCU projects. While Grammer couldn't get into details, he revealed talks with Marvel took place after the "overwhelming" response to his appearance in The Marvels' post-credits scene. "There's nothing I can talk about," Grammer said. "What I do know is that there was a huge sort of outburst when I showed up at the end of The Marvels, I guess it was. The response was really almost... it wasn't unexpected. There'd be some response, but it was pretty overwhelming, and so there are some conversations."

New clues suggest that Frasier Crane and Bebe Glazer may actually have a daughter that will be introduced in Frasier season 2. The first 10 episodes of the Frasier revival focused on Kelsey Grammer resettling in Boston, three decades since he left the city to return to his hometown of Seattle. Motivated by wanting to repair his fractured relationship with his son, Freddy, on the heels of Martin Crane's death, Frasier season 1 surprisingly didn't lean on nostalgia, unlike many revivals. That, however, is about to change in season 2 massively.
Much has been said about the return of Dan Butler's Bob "Bulldog" Briscoe and Edward Hibbert's Gil Chesterton joining Peri Gilpin's Roz and Frasier back in Seattle in season 2. Because of this, it's often overlooked that the Paramount+ show's sophomore year is also bringing back one of the most entertaining ancillary characters in the original project Harriet Sansom Harris' eccentric agent Bebe Glazer.

The Frasier reboot chronicles the titular protagonist's Boston return as he, among other things, tries to rekindle his relationship with his estranged son, Freddy Crane. The revival series' EPs explain the father-son dynamic between Frasier and Freddy, suggesting it mirrors exchanges from the original show involving two beloved characters.
Speaking with TVLine, Frasier reboot executive producers, Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli, expounded on the source of friction between Frasier (Kelsey Grammer) and Freddy (Jack Cutmore-Scott) after they reunite in Boston, plus the similarities and differences between their personalities. According to Harris, Freddy is essentially filling the role occupied by Frasier's dad, Martin Crane (John Mahoney), in the original series, claiming he can be just as standoffish and sharp-witted as Frasier. Cristalli said Freddy can be "that person that can put Frasier in his place with some gentle chiding, but is still so charming that you love him for it Obviously,...
