Three Soap Alums Who Made Their Mark on Max’s Hit Medical Drama The Pitt
Image
Max’s medical drama The Pitt quickly became a phenomenon in the first part of 2025. It has generated Emmy talk, especially for its star Noah Wyle, formerly Dr. John Carter on ER. But you can’t binge the first season without noticing a few soap connections in the form of alums from Another World, Days of Our Lives, and One Life to Live.

About The Riveting Series

What makes The Pitt standout isn’t just the A+ performances from the likes of Wyle (Dr. Robby), Shawn Hatosy (Dr. Abbott), Katherine Lanasa (Dana), Tracy Ifeachor (Dr. Collins), and the rest of the cast. It’s the show’s format that really sucks you in. The entire 15-episode season consists of one shift at the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, teaching hospital at the core of the show. This means each episode makes up one hour of said shift.

Needless to say, each hour is intense and involves life-and-death situations.

Here Are The Soap Opera Thanskgiving Traditions We Still Miss
Image
Thanksgiving is a time for family, friends, food, and favorite traditions. While The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless continue to make new memories for their fans, we’re taking advantage of the holiday to look back on some of the celebrations past from soaps we’ve lost over the years.

Cut It Out

For the last few decades of the show’s run, it wasn’t a Thanksgiving on As the World Turns unless the Snyder family was hunkering down to carve the old Hubbard squash. Enjoy this complete episode from 1994, and your glimpses of the Hughes, Stewart, Snyder, and Walsh families… along with a very young Jason Biggs, long before he got up close and person with an American Pie.

Children’s Table

The Martin family was there for the first episode of All My Children, and they were there for the last.

If you grew up reading Darkside Magazine in the early 90s and regularly frequented your local video rental shop, as I did, you couldn’t help but know all about the UK VHS label Colourbox. Not a huge distributor, at least compared to others at the time, Colourbox were probably one of the most iconic – at least for me – VHS labels the UK had; and that’s mainly thanks to the fantastic line-up of films they released on VHS: Bad Blood, Bad Taste, Creepozoids, Dr. Alien, The Imp, Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers (though without the word “chainsaw” in the title thanks to stupid UK censorship at the time), the ever-awesome Intruder and Ghosthouse.

Blu-ray Review: Robowar (1988)
Man, Bruno Mattei sure loved making movies. It’s there in every frame he ever shot; his passion for film is responsible for countless classics like…okay classics is such a loaded and pliable word depending on one’s outlook. But he sure made enthusiastic films, eager to please; and most importantly he made movies that he thought audiences would want to see based on what they already loved. Case in point: Robowar (1988), a Predator “homage” mixed with a dash or two of Robocop that ends up being uniquely Italian. And if you think anyone other than Severin Films would gift you a Bruno Blu you need a timeout in the boiling jungles of the Philippines.

Where does one even start? Mattei and his frequent cohort Claudio Fragasso headed to the Philippines to make two films, both from Drudi’s scripts: this one, and After Death (aka Zombie 4) which Fragasso helmed.

The deserted town the Brady family got trapped in on their way to the Grand Canyon is charming compared to the one in 1988's Ghost Town. On July 28th, Scream Factory will release Ghost Town on Blu-ray, and we've been provided with three copies to give away.

Ghost Town synopsis: "A dusty ghost town, seemingly abandoned, holds the lives of its original inhabitants in an animated netherworld for 100 years…

When a modern-day sheriff's deputy is lured to a desolate, spooky ghost town in search of a missing woman, he comes face-to-face with a malevolent spirit from the town's past. The spell of death and suffering over the undead townspeople must end to set them free from eternal pain. The horrors of a possessed outlaw, in a time-suspended dimension are only the setting for a frightening battle for the mind, nerves and flesh.

Starring Franc Luz (The Nest, When Harry Met Sally), Jimmie F. Skaggs (Oblivion,...

David Hasselhoff puts personality first
David Hasselhoff prefers personality to looks. The 'Baywatch' actor - who is dating blonde beauty Hayley Roberts - insists he doesn't worry about appearances, though his favourite physical features are the eyes because of what they tell him about a person. He said: 'I dated a hot brunette for a long time and then I think I at one point actually fell for one, but I don't know if I've ever met a true blonde. I'm more into personality and eyes. I think you can read a lot about a person by their eyes and so I'm more of an eye guy.' The 60-year-old star - who has been married twice, to actresses Catherine Hickland and Pamela Bach - also...

After relating how “so excited” she was when Oltl lured back Roger Howarth — affording her the chance to play out the “RogerTodd” and “TrevorTodd” story with the Daytime Emmy winner and his successor Trevor St. John — DePaiva told reporters at the set on Tuesday, “I think the best is yet to come, but I hope that Blair and...

Britain’s Got Talent: David Hasselhoff to marry Hayley Roberts?
Hayley Roberts’ mum is hoping she may soon have a wedding to plan.

The 27 year old beauty has been dating David Hasselhoff, ever since she met him at the Britain’s Got Talent auditions in Cardiff last year and her mum Margaret, 53, has told The Sun that the pair are so loved up, she’s hoping they will soon tie the knot.

The Welsh mother said:

“She’s so in love. They get on really, really well. We’ve met him.

“He was really lovely – a nice gentleman. If they carry on this way, I might need to buy a hat.”

The Hoff has previously been married twice. First to Catherine Hickland and then he went on to wed and have two daughters with another actress, Pamela Bach.

On January 13, 2006 Hasselhoff announced he was filing for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. His publicist stated the couple had agreed to an amicable settlement.

Hickland: "I Can Not Recall A More Reviled Executive."
Look out ABC execs. ZenCat, aka as the fierce and fired up Catherine Hickland (ex-Texas, The City, Loving, One Life To Live) is speaking up and speaking out. The actress/author/hypnotist unleashed a cogent and karma-minded blog post today, calling out the "you-know-who" at ABC on his hypocrisy, lies, and general disdain for the soap opera genre. Here is a sampling of her statement:

From the get go it was very clear to those of us who had been through many regimes that you-know-who did not like soaps. It always felt as if he was in contempt of them. We actors said it all the time, it was very hard to understand. That’s a hard pill to swallow when you love the genre. It’s hard to know what will make something work, and then watch it being absolutely decimated by someone you have not one iota of respect for.

Hasselhoff Feels Guilty Over Broken Marriages
David Hasselhoff
David Hasselhoff feels "guilty" over his failed marriages, because he is a "romantic" and has always wanted one partner for life.

The Baywatch star was married to actress Catherine Hickland in the 1980s and after their divorce, he went on to exchange vows with Pamela Bach, the mother of his two daughters, Taylor Ann and Hayley. They split in 2006 after 16 years of marriage.

Hasselhoff, who is now dating Welsh model Hayley Roberts, admits he never imagined he would end up twice-divorced and desperately hopes to avoid further heartache.

He tells Britain's Sunday Express, "I want to be in love. I always try to make it last. I tried (for) 16 years to make my last marriage work but it's up to God, it really is... If you are meant to be together it will work. I would get married again though, sure. I love marriage. I felt guilty my marriages did not work.

"I have always enjoyed being with one person... I am incredibly romantic."...

News: More ABC Cancellation Fallout
Soap Stars Shocked, Angered by Sudden Cancellation of Two Daytime Dramas

“If you weren’t there for the morning meeting, you found out through a third party,” one cast member of All My Children told FOX411. Several members of the cast were called at 10am for a meeting announcing the cancellation, but were told so late they couldn't get there in time. Network execs claim a program-wide message was sent to the staff of both shows earlier in the week telling them a big announcement was coming on Thursday at 11 a.m. Pacific time.

Catherine Hickland wasn’t surprised by how the network showed to the cast and crew. She said it mirrors what happened to her two years ago when she was let go by the show.

“I found out I was off the show by reading it on a magazine cover,” Hickland told FOX411. “You don’t get...

David Hasselhoff's Battle With Alcoholism Made Him Closer to Daughters
David Hasselhoff says his battle with alcoholism has brought him and his daughters closer together. The former "Baywatch" star's daughters, 20-year-old Taylor-Ann and 18-year-old Hayley, released a video of him drunkenly lying on the floor shirtless while trying to eat a cheeseburger in 2007 to make him confront his behavior.

He is grateful to his children for doing that because it made him realize how much they care for him and he claims their actions also helped other youngsters deal with their alcoholic parents. He said in an interview with The Sun newspaper, "I have learned from my mistakes, I have learned from everything."

"The best part about it [the video] was what it did for my children. So many children called and said that their parents are just like that. They asked, 'What do we do?' It gave my children a great place to say, 'Hey, you just love them, because...
