Jensen Ackles' Thriller Battles Bosch Spin-Off for Streaming Supremacy
Image
The Jensen Ackles-led Countdown has finally overtaken its top genre streaming competition - for now.

Per Collider, Amazon Prime Video's Countdown starring Jensen Ackles has officially overtaken its closest streaming competition, the hit Bosch spinoff series, Ballard. As of the time of writing, Countdown stands firmly in the number two position on the chart of top streaming series on the platform, although both it and Ballard are still far behind the number one show on the list, The Summer I Turned Pretty, which is currently in the middle of its third season.

Created by showrunner Derek Haas, Countdown stars Ackles as LAPD Detective Mark Meachum, one of several highly qualified and specialized agents brought in from numerous law enforcement agencies to form a crack squad in the wake of the assassination of a Department of Homeland Security Officer. The series' ensemble cast includes appearances by Elliot Knight and Violett Beane...

Billion-Dollar Box Office Smash Finally Lands On Disney+ This September
Image
Disney’s live-action Lilo & Stitch has been one of the biggest box office hits of the year, and now it’s finally coming to Disney+. After making over one billion dollars worldwide this summer, the film will arrive on the streaming service on Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

Deadline reports that this marks a huge 124-day gap between its theatrical release and streaming debut, as the movie first hit theaters on May 23.

The movie, directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, is a reimagining of Disney’s 2002 animated classic Lilo & Stitch. It mixes live-action and animation and even pulls in moments from the original’s sequels and TV spinoffs.

Maia Kealoha makes her big-screen debut as Lilo Pelekai, while Chris Sanders returns to voice Stitch, just like he did in the animated version. The cast also features Sydney Elizabeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis, along with original cast members Amy Hill,...

Second Highest-Grossing Movie of 2025 So Far Finally Streaming on Disney+ This September
Image
After becoming one of the biggest box office hits of the year, the live-action Lilo & Stitch is finally heading to Disney+. The movie will start streaming on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, according to Deadline.

That means it’s getting a massive 124-day theatrical run after first opening in theaters on May 23.

The film crossed the billion-dollar mark earlier this summer, making $1.025 billion worldwide. That makes it the second-highest-grossing movie of 2025 so far, and also the most successful live-action and animation hybrid film in history. It’s the first of its kind to pass $1 billion at the box office.

Lilo & Stitch is directed by Dean Fleischer Camp. It’s a remake of Disney’s 2002 animated classic, with some parts inspired by its sequels and spin-off TV series.

Newcomer Maia Kealoha stars as Lilo Pelekai, while Chris Sanders, who wrote and directed the original, returns to voice Stitch. The cast also includes Sydney Elizebeth Agudong,...

Image
The latest live-action remake from Disney, Lilo & Stitch, has been a huge success for The House of Mouse, having now officially crossed $1 billion globally. With such success comes a sequel, and, indeed, Lilo & Stitch 2 is now in development. And the follow-up just got the update that fans were hoping for...

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Sanders, who not only co-created, co-wrote, and co-directed the 2002 animated original Lilo & Stitch, but also voiced the titular alien in both the animated and live-action versions, has now been called back to the mothership and “is in final negotiations to return to the fold and pen the sequel to Disney’s live-action megahit.”

Lilo & Stitch Star Defends Live-Action Remake’s Divisive Ending
Image
Lilo & Stitch star Sydney Agudong has opened up about the live-action Disney remake’s controversial ending, which involves her character’s life-changing decision. In the movie, Agudong portrayed the role of Lilo’s big sister Nani Pelekai, who was originally voiced by Tia Carrere in the beloved 2002 animated movie.

In the original movie, the story ended with Nani not losing custody over Lilo after Stitch was officially permitted to stay with them by the United Galactic Federation. With the help of Cobra Bubbles, David, Jumba and Pleakley, they were able to rebuild their home. As for the Lilo & Stitch remake, the creative team decided to change the ending with Nani leaving Lilo under the care of David and their long-time neighbor Tūtū, in order to get the chance to live her life and attend college. This deviation from the original’s happy ending was met with mixed reactions...

"Change Is Scary": Nani's Controversial Changes In Disney's Lilo & Stitch Remake Addressed By Star
Image
After the backlash against the ending of Lilo & Stitch (2025), one star is coming to the film's defense. Disney's latest live-action remake follows Lilo Pelekai (Maia Kealoha), Nani (Sydney Agudong), and Stitch (Chris Sanders), as they face off against the mad scientist Jumba (Zach Galifianakis). It was released on May 23 and quickly earned over $1 billion at the box office.

Yet, despite its initial success, it is somewhat controversial, given Lilo & Stitch's divisive ending. While the animated classic saw Nani retaining custody over Lilo, the remake has Nani giving up custody completely. Lilo is sent to Tūtū (Amy Hill), while Nani studies Marine Biology in California. The decision sparked considerable backlash, as it seemingly ignored the "Ohana" message.

Though Agudong understands the backlash, she defended the movie's changes while speaking with Forbes. Emphasizing that "change is scary," Agudong explained that these narrative decisions were made in an effort to...

Bosch Replacement Show With 100% Rt Score Gets Exciting Season 2 Update After Recent Premiere
Image
Ballardstar Maggie Q explains why she isn't reading reviews for the series ahead of Season 2 renewal.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Q responded to the question of whether she had any sense of where the series was headed with, "I have no sense." Q explained, "This industry is not what it was before. It’s barely recognizable to me, and shows are so expendable. They can throw out a show in two seconds, and it doesn’t make a ton of difference that whole worlds and livelihoods are at stake."

"Studios always have options. But we have a writers room, and they've been writing away," Q continued. "The arc for the second season is very exciting. But I've had writers room hired before and then gotten canceled. So everyone's like, 'Maggie, of course!' I'm like, 'No, no, no.' There is no 'of course.' I am not a negative person at all.

Lilo And Stitch Is The First Hollywood Movie Of 2025 To Pass $1 Billion At The Global Box Office
Image
Disney's Lilo and Stitch passed $400 million worldwide after playing in theaters for less than a week, so a $1 billion global haul always seemed highly likely, and the Mouse House's latest live-action remake has now officially passed this major box office milestone.

The family-friendly adventure grossed $416.1 million in North America and $584.8 million internationally for a global tally of $1.001 billion.

This makes Lilo and Stitch the first Hollywood movie released this year to pass $1B - Chinese animated phenomenon Ne Zha 2 actually managed to pass $2 billion worldwide.

Not too surprisingly, a sequel to Lilo and Stitch has already been announced.

"We knew there was a lot of love for Lilo & Stitch with audiences around the world, yet we never take that for granted, and we’re proud of how this new film has connected with people,” Disney Entertainment co-chairman Alan Bergman said. “I’m thankful to our filmmakers, our cast and all...

Ballard: Rhd Police Meaning Revealed (And It's the Same from Bosch)
Image
The meaning of Rhd in Ballard and Bosch is the same, but it has a far deeper impact on Renée Ballard (Maggie Q). The new 10-episode Amazon Prime Video series followed the story of the titular former detective who was demoted to the Cold Case department after she filed a sexual harassment claim against one of her peers in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD). As one of the leaders of the LAPD's underfunded departments, Ballard continued to showcase her tenacious mentality, which led her team to uncover a broader LAPD conspiracy.

Before she dove into cold cases, Ballard was part of a renowned department (Rhd) of the LAPD that was tasked with handling unique cases. However, the Rhd's reputation was severely damaged after some of its detectives were exposed as dirty.

The Bosch: Legacy spinoff series featured an incredible cast led by Maggie Q, Ricardo Chavira, Michael Mosley, John Carroll Lynch,...

Ballard Show Confirms What Olivas Did to Ballard In Episode 5: 'The Whole Nice Guy Act Just Disappeared'
Image
Ballard Episode 5 confirmed what Lieutenant Robert Olivas (Ricardo Chavira) did to Renée Ballard (Maggie Q), and it's terrible. When the latest Prime Video series began, Ballard clearly had some baggage, and it had something to do with a past trauma inflicted by one of her peers from the Robbery-Homicide Division (Rhd). Throughout the show's run, Ballard was frowned upon by some of the male police officers and detectives because of an Hr case she filed against Olivas.

The first four episodes of the crime drama, Ballard, only provided tidbits about what Olivas actually did, but it was clear that Renée was traumatized to the point that she needed therapy to get over it. In Episode 5, a full picture of what transpired was revealed, showing the massive impact of Olivas' actions against Ballard.

'Ballard’s Cast Tease Their Major Roles in New ‘Bosch’ Spin-Off [Exclusive]
Image
With Ballard now streaming on Prime Video, the next chapter in Michael Connelly’s crime universe is officially underway. While Maggie Q’s Renée Ballard is front and center, she’s backed by a new ensemble cast — including veteran stars Amy Hill and John Carroll Lynch, who opened up to Collider's Aidan Kelley on the red carpet about their roles in the spin-off and how their characters help shape this new era of the Bosch franchise.

For Amy Hill, the series marks her return to Prime Video following her role as Tūtū in Disney’s 2025 live-action Lilo & Stitch. In Ballard, Hill plays — wait for it — Tūtū, the grandmother to Maggie Q's Ballard. There's no Disney crossover here, folks, don't worry.

“I feel like my character really brings the soft side of Maggie Q,” Hill told Collider on the red carpet. “No matter how badass you are, there's a lot of...

'Bosch' Spin-Off Star Reveals Ongoing 'Lilo & Stitch' Sequel Negotiations [Exclusive]
Image
Amy Hill is doubling down on fan-favourite franchises. While celebrating the premiere of Ballard, Prime Video’s new Bosch spin-off, Hill revealed to Collider that she’s already in active talks to return for a sequel to Lilo & Stitch — this time reprising her live-action role as Tūtū. Speaking with Aidan Kelley on the red carpet, Hill confirmed, “I'm already negotiating, yes. So I'm very happy. I'm happy to be part of that universe.” She added, “No contracts have been signed, the script hasn't been written, but we are in negotiation. So that's good.”

Hill originally voiced Mrs. Hasagawa in the 2002 animated film, but in the 2025 live-action remake, she appeared in a new role: Tūtū, Lilo and Nani’s grandmother figure. The film cleverly blended live-action performances with animated elements, particularly for characters like Stitch. “You don't ever expect an animation to become live action. And how do you do that?...

Image
Based on the beloved novels by Michael Connelly and adapted for television by Kendall Sherwood and Michael Alaimo, Prime Video’s “Ballard” — a spinoff of “Bosch” and “Bosch: Legacy” — is one of the best police procedurals on TV. Recently ousted from the Robbery and Homicide division for blowing the whistle on a popular cop, Ballard finds herself sequestered in the basement, in command of LAPD’s newly formed Cold Case Division. As the only full-time staffer in the severely underfunded unit, Ballard must rely on her own experience, moxy and a motley crew of volunteers to weed through the countless long-forgotten, decades-old homicides. Maggie Q Says 'Ballard' Is Not Riding the Coattails of 'Bosch' With Nostalgia
Image
For a little over a decade, viewers have followed the personal and professional life of LAPD detective Harry Bosch. Played byTitus Welliver, Boschpremiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 6, 2014, and went on to produce 68 episodes through seven seasons. When it ended in 2021, that wasn't the last time fans of the police procedural saw the main character. Its first spin-off, Bosch: Legacy, which premiered in 2022 on Amazon Freevee, followed a retired Bosch who worked as a private investigator. In its third and final season, viewers were introduced to Detective Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, in the last episode, which served as a minorintroduction to Bosch: Legacy's spin-off, Ballard. However, it will not be nostalgic, according to the leading actress.

During an interview with Collider, Maggie Q revealed that although the series is connected to Bosch, because it is a spin-off, it won't lean on familiarity.

"We're not looking to rehash the same things.

Marvel to feature its most unexpected 'cameo' yet this September
Image
With the current success of the live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch at the box office, it makes sense for Disney to want to showcase the lovable alien known as Stitch as much as possible. Therefore, it comes as no surprise to learn that a new set of variant Marvel covers will feature Stitch invading the Marvel Universe and hilariously interacting with various heroes and villains. Marvel has revealed that Stitch will appear on variant covers for The Amazing Spider-Man #11, Fantastic Four #3, The Avengers #30, X-Men #22, and Captain America #3.

The covers depict Stitch stealing Mjölnir from Thor (it is probably best to not even think about how Stitch was deemed worthy enough to lift the hammer), wall-crawling with Spider-Man, dancing with the Fantastic Four, spilling ice cream on Captain America’s shield, and being stared at by the X-Men. Needless to say, just looking at these covers is enough to leave fans rolling with laughter,...

A live-action remake of Disney's 2002 animated movie of the same name, the new film follows the same story of a solitary Hawaiian girl who forms a bond with a fugitive alien, helping to mend her fragmented family.

The Lilo & Stitch live-action remake features Maia Kealoha in her film debut as Lilo and the original movie's writer-director, Chris Sanders, reprising his voice role as Stitch. The cast also includes Sydney Elizebeth Agudong, Billy Magnussen, Hannah Waddingham, Courtney B. Vance, and Zach Galifianakis. Original cast members Amy Hill, Tia Carrere, and Jason Scott Lee return in different roles.

Lilo & Stitch 2 Live-Action Movie In The Works At Disney
Image
As any self-respecting Lilo & Stitch fan doubtless knows by now, today is 626 day — so named after our beloved lil' blue guy, formerly known as Experiment 626. And as any self-respecting Disney fan — or anyone with even a cursory interest in cinema — also doubtless knows by now, you don't make a near-billion-dollar grossing live-action remake of a generationally beloved classic without thinking about potential sequels. With both of those things in mind then, this year's 626 day has brought with it perhaps one of the most nailed-on sequel announcements of all time: Lilo & Stitch 2 is now in development at Disney. What's more, the cobalt agent of chaos himself took to the House of Mouse's socials to reveal his next gig. Check it out below;

Running amok in Walt Disney Studios' Burbank parking lot, the announcement of Lilo & Stitch 2 sees Disney's fuzzy blue scamp — kicking it in a snazzy pink convertible — spot a Stage 2 sign,...

‘Lilo & Stitch 2’ in the Works After Live-Action Box Office Success
Image
Disney is moving forward with a sequel to its live-action Lilo & Stitch film, following the movie’s strong performance in theaters. The company confirmed this week that the next chapter is now in development.

The film, which premiered on May 23, 2025, has become one of the highest-grossing movies of the year.

It has made over $923 million worldwide so far, putting it just behind A Minecraft Movie, which has earned $954 million globally. These big numbers likely helped push Disney to greenlight a sequel.

Disney’s Latest Live-Action Hit Is Already Gearing Up For a Sequel
Image
Disney’s live-action version of Lilo & Stitch is getting a sequel. The news broke across social media earlier this week, confirming that a follow-up is now officially in the works. The announcement comes after the film’s huge success in theaters.

It’s currently one of the highest-grossing movies of 2025, earning over $923 million globally. The only film to make more this year so far is A Minecraft Movie with over $954 million, according to Disney.

There’s still no word on who will return for the second film, no confirmed cast or director yet. But Disney clearly sees something special in this remake, and fans should expect more news in the future.

'You Can't Satisfy Everyone': Lilo & Stitch Director Defends Remake's Divisive Ending
Image
This article contains major spoilers for the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake.

Reception for the Lilo & Stitch remake has been positive, save for its ending. Some fans of the animated original prefer that film's messaging, while director Dean Fleischer Camp said the live-action version adopted the same premise but expanded on its meaning.

Ohana (the Hawaiian word for family) took on a whole new meaning in the Lilo & Stitch remake, which heavily adopted traditional values of collectivism. Speaking with Variety, Camp confirmed that this was also his approach with the film's ending, where Nani entrusts guardianship of Lilo to an adopted grandparent. Camp said that it was Chris Sanders, director of the animated original, who pitched that idea for the adaptation.

"Chris, who's Hawaiian, made a really important observation about the original early on in our discussions," Camp recalled. "He didn't buy that the two orphan sisters would just...

Lilo And Stitch Retains Box Office Top Spot As Ballerina Trips With $25 Million Debut
Image
Disney's live-action Lilo and Stitch movie continues to pack in audiences worldwide, and is well on its way to becoming the year's first billion dollar release.

The family-friendly adventure claimed the No. 1 spot at the domestic box office for the third consecutive weekend with $32.5 million from 4,185 venues, and has now taken in a total of $335.8 million domestically and $772 million globally.

Unfortunately, things aren't looking quite as positive for Ballerina.

Lionsgate's first John Wick spin-off, starring Ana de Armas as a dancer-turned-assassin, debuted behind already modest expectations with $25 million from 3,409 North American theaters. The R-rated action flick took in another $26 million from 82 countries overseas for a global start of $51 million. Ballerina had a reported production budget of $90 million, which is significantly more than the first three John Wick films.

Despite decent reviews and an A- CinemaScore, Ballerina simply doesn't seem to have enticed much of the John Wick franchise's fanbase into theaters this weekend.

‘Lilo and Stitch’ Production Designer on Hidden Easter Eggs You Might Have Missed
Image
Disney’s “Lilo & Stitch” continues to break records at the global box office. Over Memorial Day weekend, it made a record-breaking $183 million domestically and $341 million worldwide. The live-action film is a retelling of the studio’s 2002 animated feature, as its beloved characters are brought to life.

In true Disney style, the live-action film is filled with Easter eggs galore that pay homage to the original animated feature and Hawaiian culture. There are the obvious ones such as voice actors from the animated feature having parts in the film – Tia Carrere, the original voice actress for Nani, is playing the girls’ social worker. Amy Hill (Mrs. Hasagawa) is David’s grandmother, and Jason Scott Lee, who voiced David in the animated feature, plays Nani’s boss. Chris Sanders, the original Stitch voice actor, returns to growl and voice the CG version of the koala-like alien.

The film follows a lonely Hawaiian girl named Lilo,...

Lilo And Stitch Has Already Outgrossed Thunderbolts* At The Worldwide Box Office
Image
After breaking the record for biggest Memorial Day opening weekend ever with a massive $183 million debut, Disney's Lilo and Stitch has now passed $400 million worldwide after playing in theaters for less than a week.

The Mouse House's latest live-action remake grossed an estimated $15.3M on Tuesday, bringing its domestic total to just under $200 million. The last update put the movie's global cume at $392.7 million, but it will easily have passed the $400 million milestone by now (we'll bring you the latest figures later today).

This is something Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts didn't manage to accomplish after almost a month in theaters. The antihero team-up movie has now taken in around $360 million worldwide, and analysts believe it may end up costing the studio as much as $100 million after P&a costs are taken into account.

A big win for Disney after Snow White's underperformance, and a sign that we shouldn't be expecting an...

Why Is Stitch Less Violent In Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Explained By Director
Image
Dean Fleischer Camp explains why Stitch is less violent in his rendition of Lilo & Stitch. The Disney live-action remake is now in theaters, reintroducing audiences to the young Hawaiian protagonist and her alien friend. While Chris Sanders returns to be the voice of Stitch, the movie features a largely new cast including Maia Kealoha, Sydney Agudong, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Magnussen, Courtney B. Vance, Amy Hill, and Tia Carrere (who voiced Nani in the original). The remake is doing incredibly well in theaters so far, debuting at $183 million domestically over the four-day Memorial Day weekend.

Speaking with RadioTimes.com, Camp explained the changes made to Stitch in the live-action film. The director mentioned that elements of "Stich's level of destruction" can read as "very funny" in an animated setting, but do not translate as well to the live-action landscape. As such, he and his team tried to figure out how to...

"It's Really, Really Good": 'Bosch' Creator Michael Connelly Promises 'Ballard' Won't Disappoint
Image
Bosch: Legacy may have finally, unhappily come to a close, but the universe it built is far from over. On July 9, Prime Video will release all ten episodes of Ballard, the highly anticipated spin-off following Renée Ballard, played by Maggie Q, as she takes on cold cases with limited resources and unshakable resolve. The series introduces a new corner of Michael Connelly’s ever-expanding Bosch-verse — and according to the man behind it all, it’s “really, really good.”

“It’s really, really good, and I’ve seen all 10 of the episodes,” Connelly said in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times.

With fans still reeling from Amazon’s decision to cancel Bosch: Legacy, Connelly’s endorsement comes at a critical moment for the franchise. While the original show may be gone, Ballard is clearly designed to keep the spirit — and the tension — alive.
