Sailor Moon Crystal and its concluding movies, Sailor Moon Eternal and Sailor Moon Cosmos, is a successful reboot because it's fairly loyal to Naoko Takeuchi's original manga series, Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon. The '90s Sailor Moon anime has all the same major arcs from the original manga. However, the anime creators added plenty more content and changed some key details from the original story.

Some of the original anime's changes are questionable, like censoring the queerness in Kunzite and Zoisite's relationship and adding in a romance between Naru and Nephrite. There are some additions that were fun, though. Filler characters like Yuichiro and Fiore add to the story. Additional mini-arcs, like Minako's dating schemes, give a dose of whimsy to the story and explore character dynamics.

The Fabulous Shop has revealed its new perfume inspired by the Sailor Moon anime, which promises fans a "refreshing" and "exquisite" scent in a must-have collector's bottle.

Via Sailor Moon Fan Network, The Fabulous Shop has returned with a new 50 ml eau de parfum release inspired by the Stallion Reve. The bottle, officially licensed by Toei Animation in Japan, is a near-identical shape to Chibiusa's item from Sailor Moon SuperS. The limited-edition perfume is set at just 500 units and is priced at 699 Hkd (~US$90). Shipment is expected in early February 2025. Releasing in February 2025, the new "Sailor Moon: Miracle Romance" is the seventh installment in Creer Beaute's Shining Moon Powder series. The previous installment enjoyed an international release and, thanks to distribution from Bandai Premium, the Sailor Moon Store's newest cosmetic product has likely become available for overseas fans as well, with the product currently available for pre-order for US$144.13 via the likes of Nin-Nin-Game (among other retailers).

On Sept. 8, Emi Shinohara, the Japanese voice actor for Makoto Kino/Sailor Jupiter in the original Sailor Moon anime series, died at the age of 61. In the wake of her death, many who worked alongside Shinohara have stepped forward to pay their respects, including fellow Sailor Moon voice actor Megumi Ogata and one of the anime series' directors, Kunihiko Ikuhara.

According to Shinohara's managing agency, 81 Produce, the popular actor died one month after a period of hospitalization for an unnamed illness. During her career, she worked on a myriad of popular series besides Sailor Moon, including Clamp's Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, Tenchi Muyo! and Naruto Shippuden, among others. As detailed on Oricon, Ikuhara posted a heartwarming farewell message on social media, in which he reflected on the times he spent working with Shinohara.
