10 Excellent Thriller Books You Can Read In A Day
Image
By incorporating mystery, intrigue, and unreliable narrators, thriller books have been capturing audiences' attention for many years. Plenty of the best movies and TV shows within the genre have drawn inspiration from novels, especially those that are easy to read in a single sitting. Sometimes, picking up a book that features a long plot with heavy world-building can be too much. It can be better to read something that can be finished quickly, reaching an exciting conclusion without delay. This doesn't make these novels any less interesting or complex, as there's still plenty of opportunity for misdirects within their pages.

Plenty of thriller books have wild endings, revealing the killer or the unexpected twist that throws the rest of the story into sharp relief in the final moments of the story. While thrillers don't necessarily have to follow the events of a murder mystery, this is often the premise as...

Isabelle Connolly
Calf - Jennie Kermode - 19401
Isabelle Connolly
Human young are what is known as altricial – not just small but underdeveloped, needing years of care before they’re ready to survive on their own. Calves, on the other hand, are precocial. They need to be able to stand on their first day of life, to move with the herd, to avoid predators. Like other mammals, though, they remain close to their mothers.

There’s a calf on the way at the farm, so when her husband doesn’t appear for breakfast, Aine (Kate Nic Chonaonaigh) thinks nothing of it. She sends her daughter Cáit (Isabelle Connolly) out to fetch him, and that’s when Cáit discovers what viewers might already have guessed when they saw a tractor slip lose from its handbrake the night before. Michael (Stephen Hogan) is trapped there, his body pierced by a metal rod, his face contorted in agony. He’s lost a lot of blood.

Don't mess with Jackie Chan. Stx Entertainment has unveiled a new trailer, which is just one action scene, for the film The Foreigner, starring Jackie Chan in a serious role as a man who goes for revenge when the police do nothing. This scene was teased in the first trailer, but now we get to see it play out entirely as Chan is hunted by a group of mercenaries. This is Martin Campbell's latest film, director of GoldenEye, Casino Royale, Edge of Darkness; adapted from a book called "The Chinaman". He plays a father who tries to get revenge when his daughter is killed in an Ira bombing, leading him right up to the politicians. It also stars Pierce Brosnan, Charlie Murphy, Katie Leung, Simon Kunz, Rory Fleck Byrne, Stephen Hogan, Pippa Bennett-Warner, and Dermot Crowley. This looks so much better than Bleeding Steel. Stars: Luke Roberts, Jon Voight, Kelly Wenham, Ben Robson, Holly Earl, Stephen Hogan, Richard Ashton, Poppy Corby-Tuech, Vasilescu Valentin | Written by Pearry Teo, Nicole Jones, Steven Paul | Directed Pearry Teo

Dracula is one of the most prolific, some would say overused, characters in fiction – from literature, to theatre, to cinema and television, Dracula has been one of The most re-interpreted horror monsters. Be it the well-loved Hammer movies, the silent black and white vampire of Nosferatu or more modern takes such as Francis Ford Coppola’s gothic take on the character, Dracula is often seen as one of the go-to horror icons. The character has even inspired a whole genre of vampire movies that, whilst not utilising the official moniker, are clearly influenced by Bram Stoker’s novella – and Dracula: The Dark Prince is no different.

Misunderstood, despised and hunted, Dracula (Roberts) is driven to pursue an ill-fated quest for...
