Mike Judge Reveals What Separates ‘King of the Hill’ From ‘The Simpsons’
Image
On the surface, King of the Hill and The Simpsons aren’t all that different. They were both staples on Fox throughout the 1990s. They both feature beer-loving, blue-collar dads doing their gottdang best to do right by their kids. And they’re both the brainchild of animation legends — Mike Judge (King of the Hill) and Matt Groening (The Simpsons).

But despite all these similarities, there’s one major factor (beyond basic competence) that separates the respective worlds of Hank Hill and Homer Simpson, according to Mike Judge. When the King of the Hill revival hit Hulu this week, co-creator Judge opened up about revisiting Arlen, Texas after 15 years, and told Deadline how the show’s signature realism not only set it apart from its long-running peer, but inspired the series’ roughly eight-year time-jump.

“Our show is less surreal than other animated shows, like say, The Simpsons,” he explained, seemingly...

Matt Damon May Be The Odyssey’s Biggest Risk After Divisive Period Movie With Ben Affleck
Image
Matt Damon’s next big role is in Christopher Nolan’s epic, The Odyssey, but many haven’t forgotten the underwhelming performance in 2021’s The Last Duel with Ben Affleck. This historical drama crashed and burned at the box office, with only $30 million in worldwide gross on a budget of $100 million (via The Numbers)

Despite a renowned filmmaker like Ridley Scott directing the movie and Oscar-winning co-writers like Damon and Affleck, the movie had a mixed critical reception. Now, another big-budget production and highly anticipated movie hinges on Damon, but will this ambitious project find success after his previous flop?

The Last Duel’s Lukewarm Reception Puts The Odyssey at Risk Matt Damon in The Last Duel | Credits: Scott Free Productions

According to some, The Last Duel was a well-crafted movie, but it never found its audience. Critics appreciated its depth, and also the performances by Matt Damon, Ben Affleck,...

The Odyssey Set Video Reveals Christopher Nolan's Fiery Vision For A Key Odysseus Event
Image
New footage reveals a key scene from Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey a year before its release. Inspired by Homer's legendary epic, The Odyssey stars Matt Damon as the King of Ithaca, alongside Tom Holland (Telemachus), and Charlize Theron (Circe). They join a group of actors with unspecified roles, including Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Elliot Page, and Lupita Nyong'o.

The movie will feature Odysseus' long journey home in the aftermath of the legendary Trojan War. After enraging Poseidon and other Greek gods, Odysseus is forced to roam the oceans on a decade-long mission to return to Ithaca. It is expected to be released on July 17, 2026 and reportedly has a tremendous $250 million budget.

As Christopher Nolan is renowned for relying on practical effects and on-set filming, The Odyssey is currently being filmed around the world. One TikTok user, Luca Pizzoleo, captured one important scene, featuring Odysseus' ship. The scene features flashing lights,...

The 15 Best American Dad Episodes Ranked
Image
When "American Dad!" first aired on Fox, "Family Guy" comparisons were inevitable, especially since both shows were created by Seth MacFarlane. "Family Guy" had been through the wringer, undergoing multiple cancellations, only to come back out on top. "American Dad!" felt like a test to see if MacFarlane could get lightning to strike twice with a different show that nonetheless had many of the same qualities as "Family Guy." That includes talking animals, and the early seasons had a tendency to lean into cutaway jokes that "Family Guy" had become synonymous with.

Over the years, "American Dad!" moved to TBS and then back over to Fox, changing its style of humor along the way. The show's less about making fun of current events and more about seeing just how depraved the Smith family can become with a significant decrease in random cutaways. And for those who have followed "American Dad!

The Simpsons Episode That's Filled With Stargate Easter Eggs
Image
"The Simpsons" has surely featured the best guest stars of any TV show in history. Some of that is simply by virtue of having run for a full 36 seasons, but in the early years especially, the show had so much cachet as a cultural force that big-name stars simply couldn't stay away. Though there is one type of guest star "The Simpsons" has yet to land, the long-running series has hosted everyone from A-list actors such as Michelle Pfeiffer to musical icons such as Johnny Cash.

As such, Richard Dean Anderson of "MacGyver" and "Stargate Sg-1" fame might not seem like the most notable guest appearance. But the actor's cameo on "The Simpsons" was about more than simply securing yet another celebrity to add to the long list of guest stars. As it happens, Anderson's "Sg-1" character, Colonel Jack O'Neill, is a big fan of the animated sitcom, to...

The Odyssey: TikToker Shares Jaw-Dropping Behind-the-Scenes Visuals From Christopher Nolan’s Upcoming Movie
Image
Cue the music, Hans Zimmer, it’s going to be epic. A TikToker has shared what appears to be behind-the-scenes visuals from Christopher Nolan‘s upcoming epic movie, The Odyssey, and it is looking absolutely stunning.

From gigantic sea waves to a lighting rig that looks like the sun, Christopher Nolan seems to be going overboard on everything with a plethora of actors and every minute detail to make this movie as epic as Homer’s poem. The video was shared by luca_pizzoleo (TikTok), which was later reposted on Instagram.

The projector screens give the look and feel of the horizon while a wooden ship is floating on water. The lights simulate thunder from a storm and then change to a sunny day, showcasing that Nolan’s movie will not be a joyride by any means.

In the clip, large elephant doors open up in a bare sound stage, revealing the silhouette of Holland, who jogs toward the camera, stopping as the light hits him in his Spidey suit — one which resembles that of the original Marvel comic books. Under the leadership of legendary strategist/general Odysseus, a faction of Greek warriors are trying to breach through the city walls. On the other hand, prolific fighters of Thessaly’s Myrmidons, led by the legendary warrior Achilles, have managed to scale the walls of Troy. However, while Achilles and Odysseus seek to capture Trojan King Priam and rescue Helen, Queen of Sparta, to restore the honor of Greece by winning the war, not everyone is motivated by the same cause.

August 1 Will Be a Tough Day for Christopher Nolan Fans
Image
One of Oscar-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan's best projects is a World War II epic that's unfortunately leaving streaming very soon. Fans of the historical thriller Dunkirk only have a few days to check out the critically acclaimed movie via Netflix.

PerCollider, Dunkirk is one of several movies leaving Netflix on Aug. 1, having been added to the streamer in January. The 2017 blockbuster has been a streaming hit this summer, having climbed Osn's global top 10 chart earlier this month.

Chronicling the famous Dunkirk evacuation during World War II, Dunkirk isn't the first movie to examine the event, as Richard Attenborough starred in an acclaimed film of the same name in 1958. However, Nolan put a visual twist to his retelling of the evacuation, depicting it from various perspectives, including from land, sea and air. The film also limits dialogue to create greater suspense among audiences and plays up the music by longtime...

‘AGT’ Guitarist Silas Luke Jones Speaks Out After Wowing Judges
Image
19-year-old guitarist Silas Luke Jones is on a high after wowing the America’s Got Talent judges on Tuesday’s (July 29) episode with a spellbinding performance. The mild-mannered Homer, Alaska, native took to the stage with an acoustic guitar and a pedalboard to perform a rendition of “Misirlou,” the classic Eastern Mediterranean folk song which gained worldwide popularity through Dick Dale’s 1962 American surf rock version. Jones had the crowd on his side from the opening chords of the track, which fans might recognize from the opening credits of Quentin Tarantino’s 1994 film, Pulp Fiction. The song was also remixed into Black Eyed Peas’ hit 2006 single “Pump It.” By the end of his performance, Jones had the entire audience and the judges on their feet. “You became a rock star in front of our eyes,” Sofia Vergara told the young performer, while Howie Mandel called him the “Alaskan techno [Jimi] Hendrix.” “If...

The Simpsons Creator Knows Exactly Why The Series Will End (And It Makes Sense)
Image
"The Simpsons" is the longest-running primetime scripted series of all time, surpassing shows like "Gunsmoke" and other classics that dominated the airwaves for decades. What's most impressive, however, is that Matt Groening's animated sitcom about the titular family and the residents of Springhill achieved this milestone in 2018, so it's safe to say that all current and future series have some catching up to do. While the "Simpsons" writers know they can't compete with their own show's classic era, they also have no desire to say goodbye to Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie anytime soon, either -- well, not unless tragedy befalls the cast and crew.

As documented by ComicBook.com, Groening was present at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, where he discussed the future of the show and when it could end. The series' creator spoke candidly on the matter, revealing the dark inevitability that will eventually mark the...

Christopher Nolan Urged to Stop Contributing to 'Brutal Repression' in The Odyssey's Latest Filming Location
Image
Christopher Nolan's new film The Odyssey has experienced a new hiccup. After a major cast shakeup not long ago, the movie has just attracted some backlash.

The star-studded epic action film is Nolan's follow-up to Oppenheimer, which was a major critical and commercial success. The Odyssey is an adaptation of Homer's epic poem of the same name, and stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the Greek king of Ithaca. Nolan started production on The Odyssey in late Feb. 2025, and has just received criticism from FiSahara over one of its latest filming locations in Western Sahara, via Deadline.

Filming originally started in Aït Benhaddou, Morocco, but it featured different locations in Greece, as well as Italy, Ireland, and Scotland. However, in late July, the crew filmed several scenes in the Morocco-occupied Dakhla, Western Sahara. The United Nations designated the disputed region as a "non-self-governing territory," although it has been under...

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey Hit With Filming Controversy, Acclaimed Director Called Out For "Whitewashing Colonialism"
Image
The Odyssey has become embroiled in a new controversy, with the Christopher Nolan project coming under fire for one divisive filming location. Adapting Homer's epic poem of the same name, Nolan's follow-up to the critically acclaimed Oppenheimer (2023) entered production earlier this year.

Nolan's The Odyssey features a stacked cast, with Matt Damon starring as Odysseus, a warrior who undertakes an arduous, years-long journey home after the Trojan War. Damon is joined by Tom Holland, Charlize Theron, Zendaya, and Anne Hathaway, among others, and, still a year away from its theatrical release, the movie has become one of 2026's most hotly anticipated titles.

Now, though, per The Times, The Odyssey has come under fire for its filming near the contested Western Saharan city of Dakhla. The area has been under Moroccan occupation since the 1970s, and the organizers of the Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara) have criticized Nolan for the message that filming there sends.

Christopher Nolan Criticized for Filming ‘The Odyssey’ in Occupied Western Sahara: ‘Contributing to Morocco’s Repression of the Sahrawi People’
Image
Christopher Nolan is facing criticism for filming parts of his upcoming “The Odyssey” in the Western Sahara, 70% of which is occupied by Morocco.

The director recently spent four days filming in the highly anticipated historical epic— which stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya and more — in the city of Dakhla, which has been deemed the capital of the Moroccan administrative region of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab. Western Sahara is a disputed territory and is classified as “non-self-governing” by the United Nations. Home to the Indigenous Sahrawi people, it’s the last remaining African colonial state to achieve independence with Morocco still claiming control over the majority of its land. However, a Morocco-proposed plan giving Western Sahara autonomy but Morocco ultimate sovereignty — similar to Spain’s relationship to the Canary Islands and Basque Country — picked up steam last year with the support of the U.S., U.K. and France.

Christopher Nolan Criticized for Filming 'They Odyssey' in Western Saharah
Image
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is already a complex story to film without the Oscar-winning director being urged to shut down filming and move to a new location by the Western Sahara International Film Festival. The criticism of Nolan shooting his next potential awards darling have come as he filmed scenes for the upcoming epic in the Morrocco-occupied area near the city of Dakhla, a “non-self-governing territory” as designated by the Un in 1963.

Nolan is certainly not the first filmmaker to set up cameras at the location to use its sandy backdrops and burning vistas to be witnessed on cinema screens and TV. One of the most recent projects to be filmed there was Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time, although with the cancellation of the series those cameras will not be returning to the area. The piece of land in question is not part of Morrocco in a legal sense,...

Christopher Nolan Criticized for Filming ‘The Odyssey’ in Western Saharan City of Dakhla
Image
Christopher Nolan has been busy filming his 2026 epic “The Odyssey” in various parts of the world. But according to the Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara), he would not be shooting in Dakhla if he knew how Moroccan forces allegedly treat the indigenous Sahrawi population.

FiSahara issued a public statement last week urging the director to halt filming on his Universal Pictures adaptation of Homer’s poem that stars Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Tom Holland, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Logan Marshall-Green, Jon Bernthal and Charlize Theron.

“Dakhla is not just a beautiful location with cinematic sand dunes. Primarily, it is an occupied, militarized city whose indigenous Sahrawi population is subject to brutal repression by occupying Moroccan forces,” the festival shared last Tuesday. “Stop filming in Dakhla and stand in solidarity with the indigenous Sahrawis who have been under military occupation for 50 years, and who are routinely jailed and tortured...

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ Accused Of Fueling “Brutal Repression” By Filming In Occupied Western Sahara
Image
Christopher Nolan has been criticized for shooting elements of Universal’s all-star epic The Odyssey in Morocco-occupied Western Sahara.

Earlier this month, the British director filmed for four days near the coastal city of Dakhla, which is part of a region that the United Nations has designated as a “non‑self‑governing territory” since 1963.

Western Sahara, which has become a magnet for big-budget shoots like the Prime Video series The Wheel of Time, is not legally part of Morocco, but the U.S. and UK are among Western governments to recently endorse the North African nation’s claim over the land.

The Western Sahara International Film Festival (FiSahara), which takes place in the Sahrawi refugee camps in Algeria, called on Nolan to urgently halt shooting in the region. Universal has been contacted for comment.

“Dakhla is not just a beautiful location with cinematic sand dunes. Primarily, it is an occupied,...

'The Simpsons' Creator Says the Show Will End When One of the Main Cast Dies

The Simpsons has now been on the air for more than three decades, with many wondering when, if ever, the longest-running animated series will end. Well, creator Matt Groening knows, and during an appearance at San Diego Comic-Con, revealed the sad circumstances that will cause The Simpsons to perform their final couch gag.

A lot of older fans feel that The Simpsons is way past its prime, while others are simply curious about how long the titular family can keep having adventures. However you feel about the current state of the beloved series, the show surely can’t go on forever, and Groening has now revealed that it won’t...but only death can stop The Simpsons.

A Stargate Sg-1 Episode Features A Cameo From A Major Simpsons Star
Image
After Roland Emmerich made a movie back in 1994 about a team of explorers who travel to distant worlds, it's not all that surprising that plans for a "Stargate" trilogy were scrapped — despite the fact the film itself did quite well at the box office. That is to say, you can see how such a premise would lend itself to a serialized form of storytelling, with new alien worlds and races being discovered in each episode. That does, of course, throw up a few issues, like suddenly requiring a wide array of actors to play those alien races.

As such "Stargate Sg-1" featured all manner of guest star, from multiple "Star Trek" actors to a future Marvel Cinematic Universe fan-favorite in the form of Yondu Udonta actor Michael Rooker. "Sg-1" even featured a cameo from a "Star Wars" legend, but there was one guest appearance which likely went overlooked by many...

Matt Groening Reveals the One Way He’d End ‘The Simpsons’
Image
The Simpsons isn’t giving up its title as the longest-running cartoon in American history any time soon.

At The Simpsons’ panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, creator Matt Groening opened up about the show’s nearly four-decade run, revealing that even ahead of the show’s 37th season, there’s still “no end in sight” for Homer, Marge, Lisa, Bart and Maggie.

“I honestly thought 36 would be where we’d end it,” Groening joked when asked about The Simpsons’ humble beginnings on The Tracey Ullman Show, per Gold Derby. “We’re going to keep going until somebody dies.”

Speaking of death, Groening then segued into how the show plans on handling the future passing of President Donald Trump. “When you know who dies, The Simpsons predicts there will be dancing in the streets — until President Vance bans dancing in the streets,” Groening continued.

As for the show’s...

The panelists all entered Ballroom 20 dressed as Doctor Doom, in cheeky reference to last year's Marvel panel, which revealed Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as the villain.

During the panel, The Simpsons writer Matt Selman teased one episode will have cameos from Glenn Howerton, Danny Pudi, Adam Pally, Albert Brooks, Cole Escola, Brendan and Domhnall Gleeson at the same time. Another episode will feature Kieran Culkin in a "juicy role."

‘Rick and Morty’s Jerry and Beth Are Now Canonically Millennials
Image
Between eight seasons and an infinite number of universes, Rick and Morty fans have had to come to terms with several hard truths about their favorite show. But more so than 14-year-old Morty’s two children, their fellow fans’ historically bad behavior and the Justin Roiland of it all, there’s one fact that’s managed to leave several viewers reeling above all others: Beth and Jerry are now technically millennials.

Rick and Morty, like the majority of animated series, is set on a floating timeline. A plot device used to prevent characters from noticeably aging throughout a show’s up-to-three-and-a-half-decade-spanning run — looking at you, Simpsons — one fan decided to crunch the numbers on the passage of time in Rick and Morty. Beth and Jerry, who have respectively remained 34 and 35-ish since the series’ 2013 premiere, have technically gone from Gen X-ers to young Millennials over the show’s nearly 12 years on air.

Did Twitter Just Reinvent Homer Simpson’s ‘Tomacco’s’?
Image
Have you ever looked at a deliciously ripe heirloom tomato and felt that there was something missing? The minty aftertaste of menthol and regret? A jittery burst of energy? A sudden craving for a 3 a.m. vodka soda sipped on a sweaty dance floor?

If so, you’re not alone. The Twitter girlies — and more notably, Homer Simpson — are right there with you.

On Wednesday, Twitter user @doxie_gay headed to the platform with a seemingly novel idea for solving America’s ongoing health crisis: infusing our produce with some good ‘ol addictive additives.

“Why don’t they grow healthy foods with nicotine in them?” they asked in a now-viral post, dubbing the concept as “an obvious thing to do.”

Despite garnering support from several commenters in favor of a can’t-have-just-one approach to fruits and veggies — “I’m saying!!!” exclaimed one comment — and know-it-alls who noted that nightshade plants like eggplants and tomatoes do,...

“This was a treasured episode”: The Simpsons Removing Michael Jackson’s Episode Still Stings 6 Years Later
Image
In 2019, a single decision left a deep cut in pop culture history – The Simpsons pulled its iconic Season 3 premiere, Stark Raving Dad, featuring none other than Michael Jackson. Six years later, the sting still lingers. What was once a fan-fave, emotional, and musically memorable episode became collateral damage in the wake of HBO’s Leaving Neverland documentary, which spotlighted abuse allegations against the late pop icon.

“This was a treasured episode. There are a lot of great memories we have wrapped up in that one, and this certainly doesn’t allow them to remain,” said long-time producer James L. Brooks (per The Wall Street Journal), acknowledging how deeply personal the choice was for the creators who’d worked closely with Jackson to craft it.

The episode marked a surreal and powerful crossover between two cultural titans – The Simpsons at the peak of its golden age and Michael Jackson, still the biggest music icon on Earth.

"This 1 Insane Lunatic Respects Him": Simpsons Showrunner Reveals His Favorite Homer Episode
Image
The Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman has talked about which Homer Simpson episode ranks as his favorite. Over the course of the show's run, there have been many episodes focused on Homer, and his attempts to follow his dreams, or reclaim a part of his youth, and these are often fun and heartfelt episodes that connect with viewers.

The Simpsons season 36 concluded recently with Homer remaining a core part of the show's ensemble. But there is one Homer episode from The Simpsons season 31, episode 2, that stands out for the showrunner.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Selman discussed the fact that there have been a lot of great episodes throughout the show's run, and that the narratives work best when Homer has something he cares about. He then goes on to discuss an episode from season 31 titled "Go Big or Go Homer," where only one guy at work respects Homer.

Selman discusses...

Was One of the Best ‘Simpsons’ Episodes Inspired by a Candy Commercial?
Image
One of the most iconic moments in the history of The Simpsons was “Who Shot Mr. Burns?” The two-part, season-bridging cliffhanger became a cultural totem back in the summer of 1995, challenging viewers to solve the mystery of which Springfieldian tried to bump off the town’s oldest and evilest resident. One lucky amateur detective, we were told, would win “the prize of a lifetime”: an animated cameo in the show.

The shooter turned out to be Maggie (although some fans still aren’t convinced), but unfortunately, the contest was less about deduction, and more about using 1-800-collect, so the winner ended up being some rando who didn’t watch the show and opted to take a cash prize in lieu of achieving cartoon immortality.

While “Who Shot Mr. Burns?” is remembered for its uniquely engaging gimmick, it wasn’t all that dissimilar from an earlier mystery-based contest that also involved The Simpsons.

‘Delirium’ Netflix Review: A Confusing Mishmash Of Gangster Drama & Mental Illness
Image
Nonlinear storytelling wasn’t invented by Christopher Nolan; it’s a tool that’s as old as the medium of literature and motion pictures itself. Among the earliest examples are apparently Homer’s Iliad, Vyasa’s Mahabharata, and several stories in The Arabian Nights. When it comes to cinema, Buster Keaton’s Sherlock Jr., Alfred Hitchcock’s Rebecca, and Orson Welles’ Citizen Kane can be credited for both perfecting this gimmick and making it palatable to the general public. As for television, shows like True Detective (the first season), Pachinko, Sharp Objects, Dark, and The Haunting of Hill House are the pinnacle of nonlinear narratives, at least for me, primarily because the timeline jumps gave the themes a lot of depth and fleshed out the characters in a way that wouldn’t have been possible if it was given to us straight. However, much like anything that’s popular, talentless...

When Is Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey Coming on Netflix?
Image
Christopher Nolan has tackled everything from dreams within dreams to the birth of the atomic bomb, but his next upcoming odyssey is quite literally The Odyssey. An epic starring Tom Holland, Matt Damon, Zendaya, and more, the visionary director is adapting Homer’s legendary poem into what is being described as his most ambitious film yet.

A globe-spanning shoot and 70mm IMAX visuals, the expectations couldn’t be higher. But as fans gear up for its theatrical premiere in 2026, one question looms: Will Nolan’s Odyssey have its streaming debut on Netflix, and if so, when will it be released?

When Is The Odyssey Coming to Netflix? The Odyssey (2026) | Credits: Universal Pictures

While it is exciting to see films on the big screen, in the theatres, things have changed since the pandemic. Now, fans seem to be more fond of streaming from the comfort of their homes rather than going...

Trailer for Avatar: Fire and Ash leaks online
Image
You know how you can tell that people are excited about the movies again? Because trailers are leaking left and right lately. Earlier this month, a trailer for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey leaked online and went viral. Now, the trailer for the third Avatar movie, Fire and Ash, is out there to watch. We're not going to embed it on this page — I don't want to get sued — but it's available to watch here as of this writing.

We can describe the trailer a bit, though. Obviously, it looks spectacular; the Avatar movies have also prided themselves on being on the cutting edge of visual effects technology and this new film will continue that tradition. We're back on the moon of Pandora, where the native Na'vi aliens are fighting invading humans here for their resources. We also see a lot of the Ash People, a new group of Na'vi who will be antagonistic.

The Odyssey: Christopher Nolan Accused of Creating a Black Market for Tickets With His $250 Million Movie
Image
Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, The Odyssey, isn’t set to hit theaters until July 17, 2026, but that hasn’t stopped fans from breaking the internet a full year in advance. Advanced tickets for the $250M spectacle—starring Hollywood heavyweights Matt Damon, Zendaya, and Tom Holland—went on sale at midnight Thursday and sold like hotcakes.

Within a few hours, the majority of IMAX 70mm showtimes were snatched up, sending shockwaves through the box office. But we know how hype comes with chaos. In an unexpected twist, Christopher Nolan is now being accused of indirectly fueling a black market for tickets. eBay listings for The Odyssey popped up almost instantly, with some scalpers charging hundreds—if not thousands—for opening weekend seats.

One listing for a subpar seat in Dallas is reportedly going for 400% above face value. Meanwhile, four tickets in NYC are bidding at a jaw-dropping $1,000. As Christopher Nolan’s...

First tickets to Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey sell out – a year before its 2026 release
Homer
The blockbuster adaptation of Homer’s epic has not finished filming and has no official runtime. But super fans – and scalpers – already have seats

The first tickets to Christopher Nolan’s take on Homer’s Odyssey have gone on sale – before he’s even finished filming it and a year before the film is even out, in what is likely the longest pre-sale in cinematic history.

The Odyssey, which stars Matt Damon as the cunning Odysseus as he fights his way home after the end of the Trojan war, will be released on 17 July 2026. But on Thursday, Imax released tickets to the first screenings at the 26 Imax cinemas around the world that have the staff and equipment required to project in 1570 format.

Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’ IMAX Tickets Sell Out 1 Year Early, Hinting at a Box Office Bigger Than The Avengers
Image
Christopher Nolan might be months away from finishing The Odyssey, but that hasn’t stopped moviegoers from declaring it an event for the ages — with IMAX 70mm premiere tickets selling out an entire year in advance. Yes, you read that right: The Odyssey, Nolan’s highly anticipated follow-up to Oppenheimer, won’t hit theaters until July 17, 2026, but fans have already cleared out its initial IMAX run across select venues. Theaters in cities like London, New York, Los Angeles, Toronto, Melbourne, and Prague saw demand spike just hours after tickets quietly went on sale at midnight Thursday. And by afternoon, resale prices had soared past $500 online, which is just silly.

Remarkably, Nolan’s The Odyssey is still filming. But that hasn’t deterred fans from locking in seats to what’s already being called the next IMAX blockbuster. Some buyers on Reddit claimed they snagged tickets for $32 each — but resellers wasted no time,...

The Odyssey Ticket Stunt Cements Christopher Nolan As A Cinematic Event Unto Himself
Image
Universal Pictures is clearly very high on director Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of "The Odyssey." The star-studded blockbuster is set to hit theaters next summer -- exactly one year from the date of this article's publication -- and the hype is already evident ... so much so that Universal did something totally unprecedented, selling tickets for 70mm IMAX showings of Nolan's latest a full year before the movie arrives. Even more wild? The demand was overwhelming.

Only 30 screens throughout the world are capable of showing the movie on true 70mm IMAX and when those locations listed tickets for sale this morning, rabid cinephiles logged on in droves to scoop up tickets for summer 2026, almost as though this were a big concert like Taylor Swift or Metallica. The vast majority of these showings are already sold out. It seems difficult to fathom that it wasn't all that long ago many of...

Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
IMAX tickets for Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey are already on sale a year in advance
Christopher Nolan at an event for Inception (2010)
Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey is building quite mythic hype with it being the director’s most expensive film, which includes being shot entirely with IMAX cameras. IMAX boss Rich Gelfond had explained, “A year before Chris started filming The Odyssey, he called me and said he wanted to make a whole film shot with IMAX cameras.” Gelfond added, “That couldn’t be done for a lot of reasons. There were lots of issues.” Then, he said, “‘I’m going to give you a challenge. If you can figure out how to solve these problems, I’m going to make Odyssey 100% film with film with IMAX cameras’, and we’ve solved his problems. So, this will be the first film ever, at least filmed 100% with IMAX cameras.”

The teaser trailer can currently be seen in theaters, but it hasn’t made its way online just yet. Universal and IMAX are...

The Odyssey IMAX Tickets Are Officially On Sale One Year Early & They’re Already Selling Out
Image
Tickets for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in IMAX 70mm are already on sale, and even though the movie is still a year away, they're already selling out. The adaptation of Homer's epic has been highly anticipated for many ever since it was revealed to be Nolan's next film after Oppenheimer, especially after bringing aboard huge stars like Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, and Charlize Theron.

Universal is releasing The Odyssey next year on July 17, 2026, but the studio and Nolan have already started drumming up excitement. This started recently with The Odyssey teaser trailer debuting in theaters. Then, reports surfaced a few days ago that tickets could go on sale, despite the unusual process of having select theaters and listings become available for purchase so far in advance.

What Makes a Great Homer Episode? ‘Simpsons’ Showrunner Matt Selman Talks About the New Homer-Centric Disney+ Stream
Image
In March, Disney+ launched a 24/7 streaming channel of The Simpsons, which plays every episode of the show in order, allowing fans to simulate the experience of watching it as it aired on TV. Since then, all 800-ish episodes of The Simpsons have played in a continuous loop.

That, however, just changed.

This morning, instead of playing every single episode, the Disney+ Simpsons stream switched to the 200 best Homer-centric episodes of The Simpsons — called “Homerpalooza” — as determined by online lists made by fans of the show as well as Simpsons showrunner Matt Selman.

Below, I spoke to Selman about how the episodes were chosen and what makes for a truly great Homer episode in the first place.

So, tell me about this new Simpsons stream.

Well, to get the Disney+ Simpsons stream started, we began with just playing every episode in order all the way through. Then, for the update we thought,...

Simpsons Showrunner Explains Why This 1 Character Has Never Been Better
Image
Although The Simpsons has been around a long time, the series showrunner proved the show can remain fresh thanks to its renewed focus on Marge in a recent interview. With over 790 episodes to its name and a theatrical movie spinoff, The Simpsons is the longest-running scripted primetime American TV show in history.

As such, it is hardly shocking that the show is considered tired by some commentators online. In fact, the critical reception of The Simpsons has varied so much over the decades that the phenomenon has an entire Wikipedia page dedicated to it. That being said, The Simpsons season 37 arrives at a high point for the series.

While few commentators would claim The Simpsons has reached the heights of its Golden Age again, the show is enjoying a critical renaissance. As one Vulture article noted, The Simpsons is "Good again" thanks to a renewed focus on character-centric writing since season 33 began.

‘The Odyssey’: Tickets For Christopher Nolan’s Homer Epic On Sale This Week
Image
In one of the worst kept secrets since Woody Allen played Michael’s Pub, Imax 70Mm showtime tickets to Christopher Nolan’s The Oydssey are expected to go on sale Thursday, a whole year before the Universal movie opens.

Sources at Imax, Universal and other circuits are mum about this, as if Matt Damon’s Odysseus character will slay them for making a peep.

This is a first that a studio would put a movie’s tickets on sale a year in advance. Typically advance ticket sales dates are strategic, i.e., there’s generally a two-month lead for a highly anticipated movie like a Star Wars: Force Awakens, and a short lead for movies that are expected to tank, or be semi-controversial, ala Disney’s Snow White (11 days before its March 21 release). The thinking behind this is there’s a rabid appetite out there for the movie from Nolan...

The Odyssey Set Photo Reveals New Look At Matt Damon In Full Armor As Greek Hero Odysseus
Image
The Odyssey is currently shooting on the Moray Firth coast in Scotland. As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, Matt Damon, who plays Greek hero Odysseus, has been spotted in full costume on set. Tom Holland and Zendaya are also thought to be on hand to film scenes for the movie.

This new look doesn't reveal much, but Damon looks suitably impressive in the armour. However, while excitement for Christopher Nolan's next movie continues to increase a year ahead of its release, there's still no sign of the teaser trailer playing in theaters before Jurassic World Rebirth.

As a reminder, The Odyssey sneak peek opens with a shot of the sea, and a voice that says, "Darkness. Zeus' law smashed to pieces. A kingdom without a King since my master died. He knew it wasn't a winnable war, and then somehow, somehow, he won it."

Jon Berthal's character can then he heard stating,...
