Netflix is set to release the sequel to the 2024 anime film Mononoke: The Phantom in the Rain, titled Mononoke the Movie: The Ashes of Rage, later in 2025. This film continues the story of the enigmatic Medicine Seller as he confronts new supernatural challenges within the imperial palace.

A Glimpse into the Sequel

In The Ashes of Rage, the Medicine Seller returns to the inner chambers of Ōoku, where the aftermath of previous events has disrupted the balance of power. 10 Replacement Anime Voice Actors Who Were Better Than the Original
Image
Several different elements must come together to craft a fantastic anime. A wonderful story is a necessity, as are likable characters. Stellar animation is always a bonus, although anime like Mob Psycho 100 proved style isn't everything. Of course, great voice actors always have a role to play as well.

However, not all voice actors stick around for the series' entire lifetime. While the reason for not remaining for an entire series may vary, from retirement to being let go for controversial reasons, a new voice actor has to come in to replace the original. This transition can sometimes be quite jarring for fans. Yet, there are times when the new voice actor that takes over the role does so with flying colors.

10 Best Shojo Anime That Aren't Afraid to Get Real About Relationships
Image
For being often unfairly overlooked, the shojo anime demographic is one of the medium's most alluring and rich sides with its own unique set of subgenres and tropes. Most famously, shojo anime caters to romance enjoyers, its catalog of riveting love stories being thorough and prolific. The destination for fans’ most indulgent romantic fantasies, the shojo romance subgenre, nonetheless, earned a reputation of not being particularly realistic in its portrayal of relationships.

With many shojo anime either idealizing romance by focusing on the superficial joys of love or blowing their dramatics out of proportion, it’s difficult to find a love story that explores relationships with realistic nuance and doesn’t shy away from their challenges. Thankfully, these shojo anime titles rise to the challenge of authenticity, portraying their couples at their best and worst with an admirable degree of sincerity.

Shojo anime are stories written and marketed for a young female audience, though they are enjoyed by a wide variety of viewers. Some newer titles will subvert time-old tropes, or parody them. Either way, there are plenty of shojo titles that include them perfectly in their plots.

But, the tease for what's next is worse than waiting for Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War Part 2! With this film, a huge battle royale is coming.
