TV’s erstwhile Xena, Warrior Princess reunites with her Gabrielle in these first photos from Renee O’Connor’s guest-starring role on Lucy Lawless’ Aussie crime drama.

During Season 2 of My Life Is Murder, which makes its Stateside premiere on Monday, Aug. 30 on Acorn TV, Lawless’ Alexa investigates the death of a self-help guru and finds herself in a cat-and-mouse game with the victim’s mysterious wife, who is played by O’Connor. (Season 2 will begin with two episodes, and release weekly following that; O’Connor appears in the season finale.)

A mix of high-profile Kiwi and international talent will join Lucy Lawless in the New Zealand-based second season of Greenstone TV mystery series My Life Is Murder.

The second iteration sees the show shift from Melbourne to Auckland, and produced is for Tvnz, Acorn TV, and Dcd Rights, in association with Network 10.

Alexa Crowe (Lawless) finds herself back in her home country for the first time in years, and can’t help herself when she is asked to look into a bizarre unsolved murder.

Joined again by her partner-in-crime-solving, Madison Feliciano (Ebony Vagulans) as well as series newcomers, Harry (Rawiri Jobe), and café owner Reuben (Joe Naufahu), she quickly finds herself investigating other murder mysteries in surprising, glamorous worlds filled with characters who are hiding dangerous and deadly secrets.

In the latest episode of a battle that is already more epic than Bilbo Baggins’ encounter with the dragon Smaug, Peter Jackson claims the Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance doesn’t care about the damage to the film and Nz’s industry, that its demands are “in fact illegal” and the union needs to “stop playing games”.

In response, the New Zealand Actors’ Equity says Jackson’s comments are evidence of the need for “a calm meeting” between the organisation and the film’s producers.

Fifteen actors from The Lord of the Rings movies have filed suit against film studio New Line, accusing the company of a breach of contract over merchandising. The New Zealand actors filed court papers in Los Angeles Superior Court last Wednesday, alleging New Line broke an agreement to pay them five per cent of an estimated $100 million profits from merchandising sales, such as caps, games and mugs. The actors' lawyer Henry Gradstein said New Line took "gross participation" fees that the company wasn't entitled to. Gradstein says, "The expenses will always be approximately 104 per cent. It's Hollywood accounting." This is the latest of several lawsuits New Line have been served with in relation to the film adaptation of the J.R.R. Tolkien classic novels. In 2005, director Peter Jackson accused New Line of withholding profits from the first installment in the trilogy The Fellowship Of The Ring, while producer Saul Zaentz settled out of court with the firm over the rights to the books. According to industry newspaper Variety, the fifteen actors filing lawsuits are: Noel Appleby, Jed Brophy, Mark Ferguson, Ray Henwood, Bruce Hopkins, William Johnson, Nathaniel Lees, Sarah McLeod, Ian Mune, Paul Norell, Craig Parker, Robert Pollock, Martyn Sanderson, Peter Tait and Stephen Ure.
