It has been almost a decade since NBC's supernatural drama Grimm came to an end in 2017 after six seasons. However, in an age of revivals and reboots, there was always a distinct possibility that the series and its audiences' favorite characters could return to our screens in the future. That proved to be the case as, seven months ago, news broke that a Grimm reboot project was in development. With the streaming platform, Peacock, set as its landing zone, the reboot would look to reintroduce the fantastical world of Grimms and Wesen to audiences, both old and new. Now, after an extended period without much word, original star, Elizabeth Tulloch, gives fans a major update on the project's status.
Speaking in a recent interview, Tulloch provided fans with some long-awaited details regarding the upcoming project. The actress revealed that a script was available and that co-star and real-life husband,...

Supernatural was a television mainstay for a number of years. Created by Eric Kripke, the series began in 2005 and tells a fantastical story of two brothers who are all fighting supernatural beings, including monsters, demons, and more. The show had a massive following and managed to get through 15 seasons.
Kripke's series was released during a time when fantastical series like that were in style. Six years after Supernatural's debut, Once Upon a Time was released. This catered to a slightly different audience, replacing the Winchesters and their demons with classic fairy tale characters. Still, it showed the persistence of the fantasy genre.
There was another series that came out that same year, 2011, with fairy tale and dark fantasy elements. This series worked these supernatural elements into a cop drama. Now, one of that show's main stars speaks about a reboot project.

It’s been seven months since news first broke of a Grimm reboot being developed at Peacock, and we’ve been practically woging with anticipation ever since.
So when TVLine recently connected with original series star Elizabeth Tulloch, we couldn’t resist asking for an update, and the woman formerly known as Juliette (or Eve, depending on the day) was happy to oblige.

Following the success of Jonathan Demme's "The Silence of the Lambs" in 1991, Hollywood released an eight-year-long tidal wave of serial killer thrillers, each one pulpier than the last. This was the era of "Seven," "Copycat," "Along Came a Spider," "Jennifer 8," "See No Evil," "Eye of the Beholder," "Sliver," "Knight Moves," and any number of others. Right at the end of the decade came Phillip Noyce's 1999 thriller "The Bone Collector," based on the airport novel by Jeffery Deaver. Deaver's original novel was the first of the long-running Lincoln Rhyme series, a series that saw its 16th installment published in 2023. Rhyme, thanks to a spinal accident, could not move his body below his neck, and fought crime from his bed, deducting details, looking at pictures, and relying on his team.
In the film adaptation, Denzel Washington played Lincoln Rhyme and Angelina Jolie played his plucky crime-fighting partner, Amelia Donaghy.

Director Jaume Collet-Serra has given us some pretty good horror films, like House of Wax, Orphan, and The Shallows. So, fans were very excited for his latest feature film, The Woman in the Yard, but upon its release, the movie got mixed reviews from fans and critics alike for its divisive (and confusing) ending. Nonetheless, the movie recently arrived on Peacock and instantly became a global hit.
Per FlixPatrol, The Woman in the Yard, which arrived on the streamer on June 27, has quickly climbed up to top spot both globally and in the US. The feature stands tall among films like Happy Gilmore, Despicable Me 3, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, Nope, and more. Certainly, the audience is tuning in to see what made the movie so divisive. Given it has just arrived, the film is bound to get more eyeballs in the coming days and weeks.

Blumhouse has some of the best horror productions in its catalog. From Get Out (2017) to M3GAN (2022), Paranormal Activity (2007), and more, an at-home horror movie night isn't complete without one of its films. However, like all production companies, not every horror film released is a hit. Sometimes, they're underrated and underseen, like Universal and Blumhouse's The Woman in the Yard. The film was released in the United States on March 28, 2025, and didn't receive the attention it should've during its time in theaters. However, Peacock users will be able to stream the horror movie right from the comfort of their own homes.

The horror thriller The Woman in the Yard, which is coming our way from Blumhouse Productions, Universal Pictures, and director Jaume Collet-Serra, was once set to reach theatres on January 10, 2025, but then it bumped off the Universal release slate entirely to make room for another Blumhouse / Universal collaboration, the Wolf Man reboot directed by Leigh Whannell. Wolf Man reached theatres on January 17th… and didn’t do as well as expected. The Woman in the Yard was released on March 28th – and it didn’t light the box office on fire, either. Its worldwide box office haul stands at just $21 million. Maybe it will do better now that people can watch it in the comfort of their own homes, as The Woman in the Yard has been given a digital release and is available to watch on the likes of Amazon’s Prime Video.

Blumhouse Productions' The Woman in the Yard passes a major milestone at the box office less than two weeks into its theatrical run.
Per ScreenRant, The Woman in the Yard has pushed past the $15 million mark at the box office, reaching upwards of $16.5 million in domestic ticket sales as of the time of writing. The “Trauma Horror” movement’s demise has been long-coming, but not immediate. This year’s South by Southwest film festival premiered multiple titles that evolved genre usages of emotional storytelling hinged on traumatic events, from live-action Hentai to little grey men with probes. Still, maybe it is time to retire “Trauma Horror.” Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Woman in the Yard is a recycled blueprint of “depression is the monster” perspectives that’s too on the nose, too inevitable, and too paint-by-numbers. Conversations about self-worth and the condition’s stranglehold are all too real, and yet The Woman in the Yard overextends its thematic depth even at an 85-minute length.

The Woman in the Yard is a 2025 psychological horror film directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Sam Stefanak. The movie stars Danielle Deadwyler, Okwui Okpokwasili, Russell Hornsby, Peyton Jackson, and Estella Kahiha. It was released in the United States on March 28, 2025, by Universal Pictures. Critics gave it mixed reviews.
The movie follows Ramona, a woman who is struggling after a car accident that took her husband’s life. She now has to take care of their children alone in a rural farmhouse. One day, a mysterious woman dressed in black appears in their yard and says, “Today’s the day.” At first, she seems harmless, but soon, terrifying events begin.
To promote the film, Universal used a scary marketing stunt. A woman dressed exactly like the mysterious character from the movie was seen sitting silently on a bench. The unusual marketing might help build excitement and buzz before the movie’s release.

Jordan Peele’s triumphant “Us” makes the hairpin turn from family drama to supernatural nightmare when a young boy tells his parents, “There’s a family in our driveway.”
As the inciting incident for a slippery, psychology-driven horror movie, that word choice drips with danger. “Family.” Instantly, we know those aren’t any ordinary visitors coming to call on Peele’s film. They’re organized and bonded — willing to do anything to ensure their survival as a team. That line of dialogue, and even the title, “Us,” teases the very nature of the threat that made that movie and those villains work so well.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, “The Woman in the Yard” is instead a mediocre Blumhouse joint that tries the same strategy to no avail. That’s disappointing coming from the guy who gave us the twisted “Orphan,” but about what you’d expect from the dude who...

"Today’s the daaay..." Sing that little assurance to yourself, and now imagine it being said in a terrifying Blumhouse movie. The latest offering is simply called The Woman in the Yard, which some may argue is already an iffy start. For others, the title might successfully evoke eeriness, especially for anyone who's ever lived out in the sticks and perhaps dealt with a shady trespasser. "Hey Mom, there's a woman in the yard," says the young girl in act 1.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra and written by Sam Stefanak, this new monster-in-the-house feature is kept tight at just 85 minutes and still manages to utilize some of your favorite fright-fest devices with Dutch angles and high-concept editing to boot. It's too bad the third act gets lost in its own craziness, but maybe horror junkies can be forgiving this time around.

Like Zoe Kravitz’s Blink Twice, Jaume Collet-Serra’s The Woman in the Yard offers what might be considered a paradox for our current moment. In trying to discuss everything deep, dark, and harrowing that the film manages to touch on, there’s the very real chance of spoiling the thing, and yet, it feels like mild neglect that the trigger warning that the film really deserves at the outset doesn’t show up until the moment the credits roll.
The Woman in the Yard isn’t the spooky and gimmicky jump-scare-a-thon suggested by its trailer. Written by Sam Stefanak, the film promises an oddball supernatural thriller about a Black woman, Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), and her two children, Taylor (Peyton Jackson) and Annie (Estella Kahiha), living on a Georgia farm, where they’re visited by a nameless woman in black who patiently sits in a chair on their front lawn.

The metaphors weigh heavily in the latest Blumhouse horror film, which relies more on subtle atmospherics than their usual offerings. The sort of thoughtful, measuredly-paced chiller that wouldn’t look out of place as a Twilight Zone episode — or, if it were amplified to bigger proportions, a Jordan Peele movie — The Woman in the Yard belies its disingenuously bland title with its considerable thematic ambitions. The film doesn’t fully live up to them, but it deserves credit for trying something different in an oversaturated, frequently exploitative genre.
Director Jaume Collet-Serra — who’s lately trafficked in such large-scale productions as Jungle Cruise, Black Adam and Carry-On — returns to his horror roots (House of Wax, Orphan) with this modestly budgeted effort. Set entirely at the sort of isolated rural farmhouse that Andrew Wyeth would have painted, it revolves around a family consisting of Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler, Till and The Piano Lesson...

While horror films function as an important part of this writer’s interest in cinema, it’s been hard not to feel some growing personal contempt for the genre. The reason being not just the high/low budget demands of the market over-saturating us, but the punishing self-awareness of Gen X and Millennial genre nerds now making them and the post-Get Out flop sweat over needing “metaphor.” So when a new horror film is not just kind of good, but also genuinely scary and tense, it’s cause for celebration. Such is the case with the modest proposal that is The Woman in the Yard.
With this film, perhaps the cinephilic point of interest will be a return to the genre by once-heralded Orphan craftsman Jaume Collet-Serra, but this low-stakes PG-13 horror picture won’t come with much in the way of expectation for anyone else. That’s why it...

Director Jaume Collet-Serra has a proven track record of delivering palpable suspense, whether through horror, frenetic action thrillers, or big-budget blockbusters. That makes The Woman in the Yard an outlier among the filmmaker’s work; the high concept psychological horror movie is so inert that it lacks anything resembling tension or scares. That’s especially bad news when its sparse plot is content to faithfully adhere to the well established and overly tired grief horror blueprint.
The Woman in the Yard gives The Babadook a bland and underdeveloped update with Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), a grieving widow and mom to teen Tay (Peyton Jackson) and adorable grade schooler Annie (Estella Kahihi). Ramona is still recovering, both physically and mentally, from the tragic accident that left her injured and her husband David (Russell Hornsby) dead. Horror movies are now product, and most of them are so devoted to goosing the audience — jump scares, demons nestled within demons — that it’s actually rare to see a horror film of the week that’s a flat-out, old-school dud. But “The Woman in the Yard” comes pretty close. It’s like a haunted-house movie with no tricks up its sleeve.
It opens with the central character, Ramona (Danielle Deadwyler), laying in bed watching a phone video of her husband, David (Russell Hornsby), as he talks about the dream he had, where the farmhouse they’re living in and renovating was all finished. The reality is grimmer. David is nowhere to be seen, and as Ramona forces herself to get out of bed, looking depressed enough to join the damned, we see that she’s wearing a brace that runs the length of her broken leg. We put two...

Jaume Collet-Serra may not regularly come to mind when one thinks of modern A-list directors, but the man's name probably deserves more respect. From turning mid-budget Liam Neeson thrillers like "The Commuter" into solid hits to directing massive-scale franchise plays like Disney's "Jungle Cruise," the man has done it all, and often does it well. Collet-Serra cut his teeth in the horror genre, a genre he hasn't worked in for quite some time -- but he's back.
At long last, Collet-Serra has made his welcome return to horror with Blumhouse's upcoming "The Woman in the Yard." I had the good fortune of visiting the set of the film last year, with the production taking place just outside of Athens, Georgia at Athena Studios, a little over an hour outside of Atlanta. Collet-Serra, who previously directed 2005's "House of Wax" remake and the fan-favorite "Orphan," appeared to be in his element.

If you watch movies and are subscribed to Netflix, there's a decent chance you watched the thriller "Carry-On" at some point in the last few months. Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, known for his Liam Neeson action joints such as "Non-Stop" and "The Commuter," it quickly rocketed up the streamer's charts, becoming a smash hit. It also, somewhat indirectly, paved the way for his new film.
After directing horror films like "Orphan" and "House of Wax" earlier in his career, Collet-Serra is returning to the genre with Blumhouse's "The Woman in the Yard." The film, which has largely been shrouded in mystery, represents the director's first horror effort since 2016's "The Shallows." Taking that journey with him is Danielle Deadwyler, whom he collaborated with on "Carry-On" as Elena Cole, the agent trying to get to the bottom of the plot hatched by Jason Bateman's mysterious traveler.

As far as modern horror goes, there are few (if any) names that rival Blumhouse. As the studio behind Jordan Peele's modern masterpiece "Get Out," "The Purge" franchise, one of M. Night Shyamalan's biggest movies ever in "Split," successful franchise revivals such as the "Halloween" trilogy, and monster adaptations like "Five Nights at Freddy's," the house that Jason Blum built has become a go-to name for horror fans. Now the studio is seeking to deliver another original hit in the form of "The Woman in the Yard."
As Blumhouse grew in recent years, they hit a bit of a cold streak, with recent films such as "The Exorcist: Believer," "Imaginary," "Afraid," and others failing to deliver critically and commercially. The studio's latest effort, which hails from director Jaume Collet-Serra, aims to change that narrative by bringing back that old-school Blumhouse vibe. I was fortunate enough to visit the...

Jaume Collet-Serra’s follow-up to last year’s Carry-On is a Blumhouse horror called The Woman In The Yard. Here’s the new trailer:
Jaume Collet-Serra is known for making entertaining films that offer pulpy thrills. Audiences are renowned for enjoying such films. Why else would Carry-On, the filmmaker’s most recent outing have become Netflix’s fifth most-watched film of all time? A few theories, but y’know.
The filmmaker is adept at setting up high-concept scenarios and then letting them play out. From the high-stakes airport tension of Carry-On to Blake Lively’s surfer being marooned on a rock with only a shark for company in 2016’s The Shallows, Collet-Serra knows his way around a simple yet effective setup.
For his next film, Collet-Serra looks to be doing the same again – only this time with a lean back into horror territory. His next film is the Blumhouse horror The Woman In The Yard,...

Blumhouse is always working on something innovative in the horror genre. Universal Pictures has revealed the new trailer for the horror thriller The Woman in the Yard, opening in theaters on March 28. The film has been rated PG-13 for terror, some violent content/bloody images, suicide-related content, and brief strong language.
In the movie, a lone, spectral woman shrouded entirely in black appears on a family’s front lawn without explanation and warns them “Today’s the day.” Where did she come from? What does she want? When will she leave? Only The Woman in the Yard knows.
From Blumhouse, the most successful global brand in horror, comes a new original chiller starring BAFTA and SAG nominee Danielle Deadwyler as Ramona, a woman crippled by grief after she survives a car accident that takes her husband.
Seriously injured, Ramona now must care for their 14-year-old son and 6-year-old daughter, alone in her rural farmhouse. Then one day the woman takes form in their yard.
