Wednesday Season 2's Most Shocking Death Scene Will Send Fans Reeling
Image
This post contains major spoilers for "Wednesday" season 2.

Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) might've returned to Nevermore Academy with the belief that she has this place figured out, but fate has other plans for our gloomy, deadpan protagonist. This comes after season 1 teased a mysterious stalker (who seems to be the one committing murders in season 2), setting Wednesday on the path of pursuing a fresh, macabre mystery.

However, this is partially revealed to be a fake-out, as the stalker in question is Agnes DeMille (Evie Templeton), a fellow Outcast student and Wednesday super-fan with nifty invisibility powers and a creepy obsession with proving herself useful. But while Agnes' misguided intentions are (mostly) benign, the individual who's committing the murders in season 2 is still out there, leading Wednesday to deduce the presence of a second, deadlier Avian stalker.

In episode 4, titled "If These Woes Could Talk," all hell breaks loose. Before these events,...

‘Wednesday’ Bosses Talk Season 2: Nevermore’s New Staff, Wednesday & Morticia, and Enid’s Fate
Image
Wednesday Addams, popular? After saving Nevermore Academy in the first season of Netflix’s Addams Family-based hit, Wednesday, Jenna Ortega‘s prickly title character finds herself in a most unusual predicament: Upon returning to the supernatural boarding school — her first time voluntarily doing so without being expelled or otherwise unwelcome — Wednesday finds herself the star savior of Nevermore. She even has a fan club…and she can’t seem to shake them. After all, she defeated resurrected pilgrim Joseph Crackstone (William Houston), who was brought back to life by his ancestor Laurel Gates (Christina Ricci), and managed to get her love interest, the not-so-normie Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan), who was actually a dangerous shape-shifting Hyde, apprehended and sent to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital. So, it’s not totally surprising that in the sophomore season of the breakout hit, the staff and students of Nevermore have officially turned their heads to look at Wednesday.

Image
[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for Wednesday Season 1.] Wednesday‘s long-awaited return to Netflix is here, but before diving into Season 2, it might be good to refresh our memories on how things ended in Season 1. After all, Season 1’s finale streamed back in November 2022, nearly three years before Part 1 of Season 2’s premiere on August 6, 2025. So, how did Wednesday Season 1 end? As fans will recall, Wednesday (Jenna Ortega) found herself chained up and at the mercy of hyde, Tyler (Hunter Doohan), and his master, Marilyn Thornhill (Christina Ricci). It turned out that Thornhill had used Tyler to capture Wednesday in order to resurrect her ancestor, Joseph Crackstone (William Houston), whose mission it was to destroy and eradicate the outcast population. Ultimately, Wednesday’s ancestor, Goody Addams (Ortega), helped free her and heal wounds inflicted upon her by Thornhill after connecting through her hereditary psychic powers. Vlad Cioplea / Netflix In the end, Wednesday defeated Crackstone and brought Thornhill to justice,...

What do you get when you throw sci-fi, romance, action, horror, and a touch of espionage into a blender and hit “puree”? You get “The Gorge,” a high-octane, emotionally charged ode to action B-movies and Italian horror that refuses to be put into a single box. Written by Zach Dean, the film stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy, along with Sigourney Weaver and William Houston in a wild, visually stunning story about two elite operatives on opposite sides of a classified conflict who are forced to work together when a terrifying presence emerges from the depths of a mysterious gorge.

The Gorge – Review
Image
Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller in The Gorge. Courtesy of Apple TV+

Two elite sharpshooters-turned-assassins are hired separately for a secret mission to guard either side of a gorge that contains a mysterious threat in remote, secret location. On one side of the gorge is ex-Marine Levi (Miles Teller), hired by the U.S. Army, and on the other is Lithuanian assassin Drasa (Anya Taylor-Joy), hired by the Russians, in a secret agreement between the West and the East that has persisted since the early years of the Cold War. This unlikely agreement was made to contain a threat so deadly that both sides want it confined to this remote gorge, and this decades-long arrangement is so secret, even the U.S. Presidents were unaware of it. Each year, countries in the West and nations in the East send a new guard to man the tower on their side of the gorge.

The Gorge Review: An Anya Taylor-Joy And Miles Teller Romance Wrapped In Sci-Fi Pulp
Image
How far would you go for a worthy love story? It's the most pressing question at the forefront of "The Gorge" for its two main leads, rival snipers played with effortless chemistry by Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller. Separated by thousands of meters of canyon depths, the vast gulf between them only exacerbates their need for connection. Yet, intentional or not, this also doubles as an inadvertent commentary on the state of the genre these days. It's no secret that 2024 was a fairly dire year when it comes to rom-coms. But no matter how many decisionmakers in charge want to pretend otherwise, audiences clearly remain starved for something that delivers romance.

As much as filmmakers might want to make straightforward romances, however, they've had far better luck sneaking them into larger genre plays. Think of "Twisters" using the backdrop of CGI tornadoes to do an enemies-to-lovers ship (even if it...

‘The Gorge’ Review: Miles Teller & Anya Taylor-Joy Find Love At Edge Of The World In Action-Filled Romance/Horror Hybrid
Image
Miles Teller certainly scored points in Top Gun: Maverick, but now with The Gorge he has really flown into the danger zone.

Valentine’s Day is certainly appropriate to release this hybrid of several genres including horror, sci-fi, action and romance, the latter due to a clever “meet cute” angle between two sharp-shooting assassins hired to guard East and West towers separated by 600 meters, below them an imposing, dense, foggy forest that holds a dark secret.

No doubt it is a lonely job when Bartholomew (Sigourney Weaver), the shady corporate operative who is one of the few who knows of the top kept secret of what the Gorge holds, recruits Levi (Teller), an ex-Marine and private contractor, a hit man talented with guns and weapons who Bartholomew decides is perfect for the yearlong assignment of making sure there is no escape from the mysterious gorge, a place of which even nine Russian heads and 13 U.

'The Gorge' First Reactions Reveal Surprising Romantic Thriller From 'The Black Phone' Director
Image
To say director Scott Derrickson likes to take his time between movies would be an understatement. His 2016 MCU hit Doctor Strange wasn't followed up until five years later by the 2021 horror smash The Black Phone. Now, four years after that, his latest thriller The Gorge is set to debut on Apple TV+ on Feb. 14, and first reactions to the film have revealed if it's worth the wait.

Folks who got an early preview of The Gorge are taking to X to share their thoughts about Derrickson's latest, which stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy as two snipers hired to guard either side of a deep and impenetrable gorge, without knowing what actually lies beneath them. Thus far, reactions have been overwhelmingly positive, which comes as no surprise, as Derrickson is the same person behind other hits like Sinister, and The Exorcism of Emily Rose; two movies that clearly prove the...

The Gorge Director Reveals Which Video Games Inspired The Anya Taylor-Joy Movie
Image
The Gorge director Scott Derrickson opened up about his newest sci-fi action horror movie, which will feature Golden Globe winner Anya Taylor-Joy as an elite sniper tasked with guarding the gateway to hell. This marks Derrickson’s first high-profile action movie in a while, after directing Doctor Strange in 2016.

In an interview with GamesRadar+, Derrickson confirmed that he was inspired by several popular horror video games like Silent Hill and Until Dawn, during the development and production of The Gorge. "I love those games, and I do think that gaming has sort of set the bar for gun-play action, especially if you're really with a single character or two characters, you kind of can't beat it," he shared. "I think that the challenge of the movie was not letting it fall into just the straight, chaotic stimulus of gaming-type action. The challenge was to have that kind of stimulus and power and really utilize that.

Scott Derrickson Says Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross Are the Soul of 'The Gorge'
Image
You might not expect a film by Scott Derrickson to feature a sexy dance scene set to a song by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, but you get it in The Gorge, his new horror romance coming to Apple TV+ on Feb. 14. "All the needle drops, those are all choices that I made, that I felt were right for those scenes," explained Derrickson in a recent interview with MovieWeb. "I wanted there to be a real dance number instead of a sex scene. It was kind of more of a sex scene in the script. And I was like, 'That's not romantic enough.' You know, I want to stretch it out. Have a real — when was last time you saw a real romantic dance scene in a movie?"

Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy are the dancers (and snipers) who guard a mysterious gorge, not to keep people out, but to keep something in.

Anya Taylor-Joy & Miles Teller Gush About The Real-Life Friendship Behind Their New Movie The Gorge

Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller play a pair of isolated soldiers whose skills and strong bond help them through an extended mission guarding an isolated and mysterious location in The Gorge. Must See Trailer for Sci-Fi Thriller 'The Gorge' from Scott Derrickson
Image
"Contact with the other side is strictly forbidden." Apple + Skydance have revealed the official trailer for an intriguing new sci-fi action thriller called The Gorge, a new film directed by Scott Derrickson. This is ready to drop on Apple TV+ beginning in February, just in time for Valentine's Day, early next year - unfortunately it's only getting a streaming debut and no theatrical release (as far as we know). Two highly-trained sniper operatives (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are appointed to posts within guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within. They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. Despite the corrupt and lethal world they operate in – they still find a soulmate in each other. Ah so that's why it's a Valentine's Day release. It co-stars Anya Taylor-Joy & Miles Teller,...

The first trailer for Anya Taylor-Joy/Miles Teller action flick The Gorge jumps to screens
Image
Last Updated on December 9, 2024

Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge has had a long jump to screens, first coming to light on the annual Black List (a compiling of that year’s best unproduced screenplays) and not officially moving forward in any capacity until two years later. Now, ahead of its release next year comes the official trailer.

Revealed at this year’s Comic Con Experience in Brazil, the trailer for Scott Derrickson’s The Gorge looks to give just the sort of hype that the cast and crew would want after such an extensive wait. The movie stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Miles Teller as “two soldiers who are tasked with guarding a seemingly never-ending gorge with one agent posted on either side.” Sigourney Weaver and William Houston co-star.

As with a lot of movies, the mere inclusion of Zach Dean’s screenplay for The Gorge on the 2020 edition of the...

Her latest mission places her in a remote and mysterious location, directly opposite Teller’s character, Levi, an elite U.S. military sniper stationed for a year-long vigil.

Despite strict orders preventing them from communicating, the trailer hints at the duo finding innovative ways to connect, teasing a tantalizing plot where personal and professional lines blur.

The film’s setting, referred to as the ‘door to hell’, is a vast, secretive gorge harboring a dangerous and unknown threat.

Anya Taylor-Joy To Headline Apple TV Thriller Series 'Lucky'
Image
Fresh off her appearance in this year’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, Anya Taylor-Joy has been tapped to star in Apple TV+’s latest thriller, Lucky, which is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by Marissa Stapley. Taylor-Joy starred as Imperator Furiosa in the George Miller production back in May, which unfortunately didn’t live up to expectations, taking in just $173 million at the box office against a budget of $168 million.

Still, Taylor-Joy’s stock remains high thanks to a number of hits in recent years, including The Menu, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and a brief appearance in Dune: Part 2. The Hollywood Reporter mentions that she’ll also serve as an executive producer on Lucky, alongside Reese Witherspoon through her Hello Sunshine label. The thriller comes by way of creator Jonathan Tropper, who’ll also serve as co-showrunner along with Cassie Pappas.

Wednesday season 2 adds Lady Gaga to the cast
Image
Singer/songwriter Lady Gaga didn’t have anything to do with the first season of the hit Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday, but when video clips of Jenna Ortega’s “Goo Goo Muck” dance scene went viral, many fans replaced The Cramps’ song “Goo Goo Muck” with a sped-up version of Lady Gaga’s song “Bloody Mary.” So Wednesday and Lady Gaga have been connected for a while now – and that connection is going to be deepened with the now-in-production season 2, as Deadline reports that Lady Gaga has been added to the cast of the show! Details on the character she’ll be playing have not been revealed.

Wednesday production moves from Romania to Ireland for season 2
Image
When the writers strike ended near the start of October, we heard that the top priorities at the Netflix streaming service were to get the scripts for Stranger Things season 5 (the final season of that show) and Wednesday season 2 finished. Stranger Things season 5 is expected to go into production any day now, and Deadline reports that Wednesday season 2 is expected to start filming in late April. When this season goes into production, the cast and crew will be reporting to set in an entirely different country than they worked in during the first season. While season 1 was filmed in Romania, season 2 is moving to Ireland.

The Wednesday sets standing in Romania have become a major tourist attraction, but according to Deadline the decision to film the second season in a different country stems from “logistical challenges” the crew ran into while working in Romania.

How Fans Can Ensure Wednesday Season 2 Streams on Halloween
Image
Wednesday Season 1 originally debuted on Nov. 16, 2022, effectively missing out on the Halloween season. With Wednesday Season 2 well underway, it could benefit to debut in October to capitalize on The Addams Family's spookier elements during Halloween. Though Netflix hasn't set a release date for Wednesday Season 2, there's still a way for fans to encourage the streamer to aim for an October release.

In the fall of 2022, one of the biggest missed opportunities of Wednesday Season 1 was Netflix not releasing it on Halloween or the month of October to capitalize on the spookiest month of the year. However, since Wednesday dominated Netflix as the number one show on the streaming service for a whole month, fans can make this happen again during the month of October ahead of the show's first year anniversary.

Revisiting Wednesday while the Halloween season is being celebrated around the globe can only lead to positive outcomes.

1 Wednesday Finale Detail Sets Up A Dead Character Returning In Season 2
Image
Warning! Spoilers for Wednesday season 1!

With Wednesday season 2 confirmed by Netflix, there’s a distinct possibility that a dead character could return. While they can be difficult to spot, shows often try to set up plot points or hint toward future seasons, regardless of whether they are renewed for more episodes or not. While this tactic can be disappointing when a show is canceled, it helps make the seasons of a show that is renewed more cohesive, allowing them to set up and pay off more elements down the line. One example of this could be in Wednesday’s season 1 finale, though it’s so subtle as to be easily missed.

Netflix's Wednesday follows a cast of colorful characters, including the titular Wednesday Adams (Jenna Ortega) in her first semester at Nevermore Academy. While she adjusts to her new surroundings, Wednesday soon finds herself on the hunt to solve a...

Wednesday: Jenna Ortega explains why she initially passed on the Netflix series
Image
Once Jenna Ortega was hard at work playing the title character on Netflix’s Addams Family series Wednesday, she became so dedicated to making sure the title character came off just right that she would even change lines from the way they were written in the scripts. But during an interview with the UK’s Times, she revealed that she initially passed on the chance to star in Wednesday.

Ortega told the Times (as reported by Deadline), “I got the email, passed on it. I had done so much TV in my life, all I’ve ever wanted to do is film. I was scared that by signing on to another television show it could prevent me from doing other jobs I really wanted and cared about.“

It was the involvement of Tim Burton, who executive produced the series and directed four of the first season’s eight episodes, that...

Wednesday: Jenna Ortega would change lines to stay true to the character
Image
Jenna Ortega, star of Netflix’s hit Addams Family series Wednesday, has previously said she had to struggle with directors on the show who didn’t always trust the approach she was taking to the character. Starting with Tim Burton, who directed half of the show’s first season and didn’t want Ortega to show any expression or emotion at all. Something she didn’t feel would work for a lead character who had to push the plot forward. Now in an interview with Variety, Ortega revealed that she also had to change lines from the scripts because they weren’t true to her character.

Ortega said, “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on Wednesday. Everyhing that Wednesday does, everything I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all.
