Persian-American, bilingual actress Lobat Asadi has been acting since immigration to the United States as a child. Lovingly nicknamed "Lolo" by her father, Lobat learned English by watching television shows; Dallas, Y & R, and Guiding Light when she immigrated to the United States with her family. In addition to taking acting classes in Denver, Colorado, she also pursued Middle Eastern dance and music. After graduating from college with a degree in journalism and traveling to over 30 countries, her interests in acting, performance art, writing and communication lead to a doctorate in arts-based education in 2021from Texas A & M University. She developed her own method of teaching, coined "performance storytelling," which is outlined in her first book "Truth and Knowledge in Curriculum Making" (2021). Lobat's second book, a heart-warming children's book, "Marita the Cheetah" is based on the real-life story of an actual Asiatic cheetah cub that Lobat's father, Dr. Hormoz Asadi, rescued and raised in Iran.
Lobat brings academic and creative abilities to the art and craft of acting. She thoroughly enjoys the entire process of role playing - from auditioning to preparing for a role by engaging in research, having hands on experiences, travel, method acting and more. Lobat has become known for her roles as complex women such as the crime boss lady in "Snatched" which is in post-production. She was recently in an episode of Dhar Mann, in which she plays a Persian mom at odds with cultural norms. Lobat is filming "Bang Bang" in which she plays a cop gone rogue who takes the criminal justice system into her own hands. Be it emotionally, culturally or by challenging normative patterns, the characters Lobat has portrayed are as interesting and dynamic as she is. In addition to acting in more feature films, Lobat sees herself as a regular on a series with great passion and grit such as The Chosen or a crime drama series such as NCIS, The Sopranos or True Detective. Lobat is both a dramatic and a comedic actress with an innate ability to develop characters that reside within her. She considers herself a lifelong student of acting techniques, especially Meisner, and she performs live improv comedy regularly at LAC Comedy Theater in Burbank, CA. She would love to develop an eccentric character for a dark comedy series such as 6 Feet Under or Wednesday. With such diverse life experiences and her dedication to personal and artistic development, Lobat is sure to bring memorable performances to film and television.
