‘Gremlins 3’ Is Just ‘Waiting on Spielberg to Read and Approve’ the Script, Says Original Lead Actor Zach Galligan: ‘Warner Bros. Is Incredibly Interested’
Image
“Gremlins” lead actor Zach Galligan recently said during an appearance at Comic-Con Manchester (via Games Radar) that Warner Bros. is “incredibly interested” in “Gremlins 3.” Not only that, but the script is allegedly on the desk of executive producer Steven Spielberg and awaiting his sign-off. Galligan played the lead role of Billy Peltzer in 1984’s “Gremlins” and 1990’s “Gremlins 2: The New Batch.”

“After 35 years, they’ve come up with a script,” Galligan told the audience. “Warner Bros. is incredibly interested in doing it, apparently it’s waiting on Mr. Spielberg to read it and approve it. But you can thank the success of ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.'”

Variety has reached out to Warner Bros. for further comment.

Warner Bros. released “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” in theaters in September 2024 to the tune of $452 million at the worldwide box office. Like “Gremlins,” Tim Burton’s original “Beetlejuice” was a beloved movie classic from the 1980s.

Reacher's Alan Ritchson Revealed In First Image Of New Action Thriller With Just "4 Lines Of Dialogue"
Image
Reacher star Alan Ritchson looks more intimidating than ever in a new image from his upcoming action thriller movie. Though some audiences will recognize him from projects like Smallville, Blue Mountain State, or The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (2013), it's the hit Prime Video action series adapting the books by Lee Child that made Ritchson a star.

Reacher has been a massive hit for the streamer, with Ritchson taking on the lead role of Jack Reacher, a former MP who travels from town to town solving crimes and helping those in need. The show most recently returned for a well-received season 3, and Reacher season 4 is now confirmed to be on the way.

Following the Reacher premiere in 2022, Ritchson has become a more common sight in the world of movies, too. He recently appeared in Guy Ritchie's The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (2024), for example, playing the formidable Anders Lassen.

Ritchson also...

'Reacher' Star Alan Ritchson Is Bruised and Bloodied in New Image From His Next Action Revenge Thriller
Image
Alan Ritchson might be best known for breaking bones and busting heads as Jack Reacher, but his next role may be his boldest yet. In a newly released image from Motor City, the rising action star looks battered, bruised, and bloody — right at home in the gritty underworld of 1970s Detroit. But it’s not just the physicality that has people talking: this movie barely has any dialogue. Yes, really. Director Potsy Ponciroli (Old Henry) took to Instagram to announce that Motor City — a “gorgeous action film set in ’70s Detroit… with only 4 lines of dialogue” — has officially been selected for the Venice Film Festival.

The photo shows Ritchson, bloodied and intense, a far cry from his clean-cut Reacher persona. “Today it’s official,” Ponciroli wrote. “We got into the Venice film fest! So many people gave so much time and creativity to this project, and I can’t wait to celebrate with you!

'The Goonies' Sequel "Unlikely" to Include Original Cast Beyond "Cameos"
Image
"Goonies Never Say Die," but the original of The Gooniescast has spoken candidly about the long-anticipated sequel to Richard Donner's 1985 cult classic and, unfortunately, it might not be the news that fans want to hear. Goonies 2has been in development for a while, but Warner Bros. officially confirmed the sequel in February. There are no plot details as yet. However, those hoping for a reunion in the Goon Docks might be out of luck, as the cast say they are "unlikely" to have main roles in the film, but they could perhaps have "cameos."

The Guardian invited the original cast and crew of The Goonies to explore how their film has endured as a cult classic and to unpack their experiences from the set, forty years on from its release in theaters. As well as looking back, the group were also quizzed on the future of the franchise, now...

Image
Exclusive: Russell Crowe, Jacob Tremblay, Shailene Woodley and Annabelle Wallis have signed on to star in Unabom, a new thriller on domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski to be directed for Netflix and MRC by Janus Metz (Andor).

Inspired by true events, Unabom originated as a spec from Sam Chalsen & Nelson Greaves, the writers behind Radio Silence’s forthcoming Art Bell project, who have developed the film alongside 2.0 Entertainment since its inception. The pic follows Kaczynski’s (Tremblay) transformation from Harvard prodigy into the infamous Unabomber, who carried out a nationwide bombing campaign in the U.S. from 1978-95, killing three people and injuring 23.

Subjected to controversial psychological experiments by Professor Henry Murray (Crowe), Kaczynski’s troubled past resurfaces decades later when his manhunt, led by FBI agent Joanne Miller (Woodley), brings to light the chilling consequences of ambition and isolation.

Sophie Cassidy will produce for 2.0 Entertainment,...

Image
Alan Ritchson is set to take a temporary break from the Reacher franchise to star in a new sci-fi action film, titled War Machine. Alongside Ritchson, the movie also stars Jai Courtney, Esai Morales, and Dennis Quaid, and the latter star says fans are in for a treat with Ritchson's next action flick. But, War Machine is easily his most ambitious action project to date.

'Sort of Offended': Sean Astin and The Goonies Cast Debunk Longstanding Rumor About Classic Film
Image
There's one persistent rumor about beloved family film The Goonies, but Sean Astin doesn't want to hear it. In fact, he's mildly insulted that the rumor ever became a thing.

The rumor is that the child actors in The Goonies deliberately weren't shown One-Eyed Willy's pirate ship beforehand, so their looks of awe when they encountered it on camera would be real. But, as was revealed at the “Hey You Guys! The Goonies Reunion” panel at Awesome Con over the weekend (via People), some of them very much had seen the ship beforehand.

"I was sort of offended that they had that idea, that they wouldn’t let the kids see the pirate ship, so that they could capture their real reaction. Like, what? We don’t know how to do real? We did real reactions all the time," Astin said on the panel. He went on, "But I remember...

The Goonies 2 is officially in development by Warner Bros. Pictures and Ke Huy Quan, who starred in the original as Data, has offered an exciting update that's enough to keep the dream alive. So far, nothing beyond the official confirmation has been said about the sequel to The Goonies, so these tidbits of information will have to do for now.

It's a classic from the 1980s that follows a group of teenagers on the hunt for a pirate treasure with enough gold to save their homes from being torn down. Released in 1985, under the veil of Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, the film was a hit with audiences and critics and remains a staple of the decade that changed the landscape of commercial cinema.

Actor Robert Davi Fears Conservative Views Could Keep Him Out of ‘The Goonies’ Sequel: ‘I Hope They Don’t Hold My Politics Against Me’
Image
Robert Davi is eager to reprise his role as Jake Fratelli in the recently announced sequel to The Goonies, but he worries his political views might keep him out.

The actor, 73, expressed his concerns in an interview with Fox Digital, stating that his outspoken conservatism—especially his support for Donald Trump—has cost him jobs in the past.

“I do hope I’m part of it,” Davi said. “I hope that they don’t hold my politics against me and keep me from that project.”

Davi acknowledged that he’s seen his political beliefs impact his career.

“I’m concerned about it, yes,” he admitted. “Because it’s happened on other issues, other projects. And it’s just, you know, I believe in free speech and not being politically correct all the time.”

'Hope They Don't Hold My Politics Against Me': Goonies Star Thinks His Political Views Will Prevent Him From Returning for the Sequel

The Goonies fans received some good news last week with the revelation that its long-gestating sequel had found its screenwriter, as the project gets into full swing. Robert Davi, who played Jake Fratelli in the first film, is concerned that he may not be allowed to reprise his role in The Goonies 2, given his conservative political views and public support of President Donald Trump's current administration.

In an interview with Fox News, Davi expressed his desire to return in some capacity as Mama Fratelli's criminal son for the upcoming sequel to the beloved 1985 Richard Donner film. "We shall see," he said. "We shall see if they revive Jake Fratelli, or the Fratelli brothers in some way. I hope. Steven Spielberg Pranked Harrison Ford on Set by Giving Out ‘About 300 Copies’ of Ford’s Biography That He Despised: ‘Everybody Was Reading That’
Image
Ke Huy Quan recently told The Guardian that one of his most fond memories of making “The Goonies” was an unforgettable prank producer Steven Spielberg played on Harrison Ford, Quan’s “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” co-star who visited the set during production.

“I was star-struck when Harrison Ford came to visit because I’d made Indy. Spielberg played a big joke on him,” Quan said. “There was a biography out of him that he really hated, so Steven went out and bought about 300 copies, so that when Harrison came to visit and walked on to set, the security guard, the gaffers, the camera equipment people, everybody was reading that biography.”

Quan made his acting debut in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” with “The Goonies” being his follow-up project. Spielberg directed the former. As it turns out, Ford wasn’t the only A-list visitor on set.

The Goonies 2 May Actually Happen: Warner Bros. Has Finally Hired A Writer
Image
It may sound like a boy who cried wolf scenario, but it seems "The Goonies 2" is really, truly, actually happening. No, seriously this time! This is a film that has been talked about for literal decades now, with nothing having materialized up to this point. Back to 2014, the late Richard Donner (who directed the original "Goonies") said "Goonies" co-writer and producer Steven Spielberg had written a story for the sequel. Well, now Warner Bros. is getting serious about the project and has hired a new writer to tackle another adventure with Mikey, Chunk, and the rest of the gang. Presumably.

According to Deadline, Potsy Ponciroli has officially come on board to pen "The Goonies 2." Ponciroli is known best as the writer-director of the 2021 Western "Old Henry" starring Tim Blake Nelson. Some of the filmmaker's other credits include the TV series "Still the King" and last year's crime flick "Greedy People.

Plot details are being kept in a sunken pirate ship, guarded by a menacing octopus — in other words, under wraps.

Recently, the cast of the original film reunited for star Ke Huy Quan’s hand and footprint ceremony at the Tcl Chinese Theatre in Hollywood, with the same group showing up to the premiere of “Love Hurts.” “Love Hurts” reunited Astin and Quan on screen for the first time in almost 40 years.

This June marks the 40th anniversary of the movie,...

Motor City: Cast, Story & Everything We Know About The Alan Ritchson Movie
Image
Though he’s worked steadily in TV and film since the early 2000s, Alan Ritchson got his claim to fame playing ex-military cop Jack Reacher in Amazon Prime Video’s original series, Reacher. Based on the books by Lee Child, Reacher is packed with action-fueled sequences and features a heroic protagonist reminiscent of a knight in shining armor from old storybooks. Now, in Ritchson's upcoming movie, Motor City, he is going against type (sort of).

Taking place in 1970s Detroit, Motor City is a gritty tale of revenge that will still have plenty of action, but this time Ritchson’s character is only out for blood and revenge. While there’s not a whole lot of info pertaining to the Alan Ritchson movie just yet, there’s enough to know that audiences are in for a wild ride.

Greedy People review – blood and chaos overlay bizarrely Coenesque crime caper
Joseph Gordon-Levitt
A strong cast led by Joseph Gordon-Levitt are not enough to bring supense to a story where the local hitman advertises in a paint store

This under-par comedy noir from screenwriter Mike Vukadinovich and director Potsy Ponciroli feels like a script that the Coen brothers might have taken on while in one of their slack periods – and not just because Coen regular Tim Blake Nelson is in it.

Himesh Patel plays Will, a nervous rookie cop with a pregnant wife, Paige (Lily James); he has a new job in a sleepy, sweet little town; his cop partner is to be hardbitten cynic Terry, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, with whom he has a “training day” relationship on their first day out on patrol. Terry shows him the ropes, and says how easy it all is in this no-crime backwater. But while Terry is one day busy having illicit sex (while supposedly...

Alan Ritchson's Motor City is a Unique Action Movie with Almost No Dialogue
Image
Alan Ritchson has seen his career soar since taking on the role of tough guy Jack Reacher, but his next project will be very different to his return in Reacher Season 3 a movie with almost nothing to say, literally. Motor City is described as a visually driven, near-silent revenge tale. To hammer this home, Ben Foster , who co-stars with Ritchson in the movie, has revealed the film contains just five lines of dialogue.

Everyone has seen that Ritchson can handle himself on-screen, using a lot of muscle to take down bad guys in his hit Prime Video series, or delivering a more dramatic turn in the movie Ordinary Angels. This time around though, Foster revealed in an interview with Collider that both he and Ritchson are being challenged a little differently, with a movie that relies on what you see and not what is being said. During an appearance at the TIFF,...

Reacher's Alan Ritchson to Star in Mostly Dialogue-Free Revenge Movie
Image
Reacher star Alan Ritchson is set to star in a new movie completely different from his usual work. Titled Motor City, Ritchsons new film has limited dialogue focusing instead on being a rock disco revenge film.

Collider recently spoke with Ben Foster, who plays Reynolds in Motor City, about working with Ritchson and how the new film expands his work as an actor. He's very tall and very muscular, and he's very handsome, Foster joked, before getting serious about Ritchsons acting ambitions. Hes terrific as a mover. I think he wants to do some deeper work or rather different kinds of work than he's been doing, and that's a joy. Motor City is currently in production, with Shailene Woodley (Divergent) and Pablo Schreiber (Halo) set to star alongside Ritchson and Foster.

‘Greedy People’ Ending Explained & Film Spoilers: Is Paige Dead Or Alive?
Image
Police officer Will Shelley moved to a quaint suburban neighborhood in the hopes of finding some peace to raise his son, but he would soon figure out that it was a distant dream. Directed by Potsy Ponciroli, Greedy People is precisely what the title suggests: a film about greed that often engulfs humans to the point that they lose sight of right and wrong. It was Will’s first day at the new precinct, and he already had a burst blood vessel in his eye. A red eye was not on his checklist for his first day at work, but he had no choice but to deal with it. While Will went off to work, his pregnant wife, Paige, unpacked their belongings and started painting their house. She did not expect to come across a handyman (killer-for-hire) at the paint store, and the suburban neighborhood only got more interesting for her.

Greedy People Review | Coen-Brother Vibes Help Boost Hillbilly Noir
Image
Hillbilly thrillers (or hillbillers) is making a comeback, it seems. Two of the best movies of the year have already tackled that kind of vibe the incredible Laroy, Texas, and the stellar ensemble film The Last Stop in Yuma County. Now, the cartoonish nature of Lionsgate's soon-to-be underrated Greedy People might be dubbed its own brand of Southern noir, given that its elements seem to tug its tone all over the place.

Some of it works, some is perhaps too derivative. Brace yourselves for a whole lot of moving parts, including some virtually blink-and-you-miss-it cameos here and there, followed by gravely serious sequences of heartfelt drama that may feel out of place juxtaposed to some vintage Coen brothers humor and tension This comedy-drama dynamic may make Potsy Ponciroli's latest film, from a script by Mike Vukadinovich, feel like a knockoff take combines winning elements from different movies but as Russell Crowe once said,...

‘Greedy People’ Review: All This Fictional Malfeasance Pales Next to Netflix’s True Crime Offerings
Image
In “Old Henry,” director Potsy Ponciroli spilled an inordinate amount of blood on and around the porch of a frontier homestead. “And for what? For a little bit of money,” as Fargo police chief Marge Gunderson put it after solving a no-less-senseless crime a century later. Reuniting with Coen brothers collaborator Tim Blake Nelson for his second feature, “Greedy People,” Ponciroli trades the lawless West for the well-policed present-day Northeast, setting a darkly comic cash grab in the South Carolina town of Providence.

This time around, Ponciroli is directing someone else’s script, and even though the new film feels even more Coen-esque than his first, it lacks the blunt, remorseless quality that set “Old Henry” apart. That film tipped its hat to its influences; this one seems to be borrowing the whole damn uniform. Just look at the way it begins and ends with a deceptively effective female police...

‘Greedy People’ Review: Joseph Gordon-Levitt & Himesh Patel Can’t Save An Uninspired Coen-Esque Crime-Comedy Riff

It’s giving Coen Brothers, That’s the immediate vibe of “Greedy People,” a new crime comedy from director Potsy Ponciroli (the revisionist Wester “Old Henry”) and playwright and screenwriter Michael Vukadinovich (“Kidding”). Greedy People Review: Erratic Eccentrics Enliven Eccentricity
Image
Potsy Ponciroli’s crime caper Greedy People is a darkly humorous tale that follows the residents of quiet Providence, South Carolina, as secrets and misdeeds come to light after a tragic mistake turns deadly. Joseph Gordon-Levitt leads an excellent ensemble cast in this Coen brothers-style mystery, playing loose cannon police officer Terry, whose poor decisions continually make matters worse, much to the chagrin of his straight-laced partner, rookie cop Will, portrayed by Himesh Patel.

The film opens with Will’s first day on the job, where he naively accepts Terry’s casual approach to law enforcement. But when Will finds himself alone on a call due to one of Terry’s many “shortcuts,” things quickly spiral out of control. What begins as an accidental death soon dredges up greed, betrayal, and questionable motives among the townsfolk as mysteries abound surrounding a stash of cash discovered at the scene.
