Who here had Mannequin in the 80’s remake pool? What? You guys didn’t have a “Which 80’s movie will be announced next as a remake” pool going with your buddies? I’m telling you, if you don’t have one going, then I highly suggest starting one because there are sure a lot of classic 80’s films out there just ripe for the remake pickin’. Of course, you could always do shots but then half of the people that follow movie blogs would die of alcohol poisoning in just under a year.
According to our buds over at Movie Hole, they have it on good word that Gladden Entertainment – who released the original Mannequin back in 1987 – are just in the early stages of putting together a remake. This news is not entirely all groan worthy because Gladden also put out the classic 80’s gems, The Manhattan Project, Gleaming the Cube,...

Werner Herzog’s Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans starring Nicolas Cage and Val Kilmer opens next month and I got the chance to speak to actress/model/producer Katie Chonacas about the film and her career.
During the course of the interview, Chonacas informed us that John Carpenter’s planned Nicolas Cage film Riot is dead and she also gave us some news of the new Forrest Whitaker and 50 Cent film version of Jekyll and Hyde.
Check out the interview after the jump.
You seen to have a very busy schedule that juggles everything from modeling and singing to acting and film producing. How do you manage it?
It’s been quite an experience. The biggest roller coaster ride I have ever been on! I manage by always having a positive attitude, I have a good team and surround myself with people who I admire. My whole life I’ve dreamt about abundance,...

Yahoo have debuted the first trailer from Nicholas Cage’s new movie, ‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans’. The movie also stars Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis Hall, Shawn Hatosy, Denzel Whitaker, Xzibit, Shea Wigham, Katie Chonacas, Brad Dourif and is a remake of Abel Ferrara’s ‘Bad Lieutenant’ made in 1992 which starred Harvey Keitel.
The name makes it sound terrible although the images I posted previously and this new trailer actually make it look pretty good. The problems may come with the fact that it has Mr. Nicolas ‘hit and miss’ Cage in it and we could be in for a bumpy ride!
‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans’ has no UK release date as yet.

The new trailer for Werner Herzog's Bad Lieutenant : Port of Call New Orleans has been posted on Yahoo! Movies. The film, a remake of the Abel Ferrara classic Bad Lieutenant, stars Nicolas Cage, Eva Mendes, Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis-Hall, Shawn Hatosy, Denzel Whitaker, Xzibit, Shea Whigham, Katie Chonacas and Brad Dourif.
In the film, Cage plays corrupt detective, Terence McDonagh, a man whose drive to score drugs is only matched by his dedication to the job. Determined to get his way, he wields his badge and gun at every turn, while investigating the killing of five Senegalese immigrants, in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. The highly functional addict uses his intuitive sleuth skill set to scour New Orleans for the next score and the murderers. Together with his love, a prostitute played by Eva Mendes, he descends into his own underworld, driven and tormented by desire,...

Over the past year or so, horror master John Carpenter has finally decided to shake off the cobwebs and start moving forward on a number of feature films after taking an 8-year hiatus from the director's chair (not counting his two recent episodes of Masters of Horror). While he is reportedly in the middle of production on a horror/thriller called The Ward starring Amber Heard, it appears that one of his other upcoming projects may have unfortunately fallen by the wayside. Screen Rant [1] reports that the proposed John Carpenter/Nicolas Cage team-up [2] Riot (previously titled Scared Straight) is now officially dead in the water. The news comes courtesy of actress Katie Chonacas, who was also going to be an executive producer of the film. "I don’t think the film Riot is happening anymore, it was part of a two-picture deal however, Nic Cage has the option to replace Riot with another film.

John Carpenter fans who have been waiting since 2001’s ‘Ghosts of Mars’ to see him return to the big screen may have to wait a little longer. It was announced last year that the horror director and Nicolas Cage were coming together for ‘Riot,’ a film about a group of juvenile delinquents who, during a “Scared Straight” program, become embroiled in a prison riot. Cage would play an inmate who helps the students escape.
It appears, according to Screen Rant, that this film is, in fact, dead. They recently interviewed actress and producer Katie Chonacas who was in line to back the film, and this is what she had to say:
I don’t think t
he film “Riot” is happening anymore, it was part of a two-picture deal however Nic Cage has the option to replace “Riot” with another film.
Chonacas is currently starring alongside Cage in ‘Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans.

Last year we brought you news that legendary director John Carpenter and king of crazy haircuts Nicolas Cage were teaming up to make the prison action film Riot (which was also known as Scared Straight).
I recently interviewed the producer of the film Katie Chonacas who gave me the disappointing news that it looks like the film is dead.
The original synopsis of the film was as follows:
“‘Straight’ follows a troubled youth who’s sent to prison off the ‘Scared Straight’ crime-prevention program, which imprisons delinquent teens for a short period in the hopes of deterring them from a life of crime. While the teen is there, a riot breaks out and the prisoners take him hostage. A lifer, played by Cage, is forced to help the young man out.”
When I asked Chonacas what the progress of the film was she said:

Legendary independent filmmaker John Carpenter's next project, Riot, was supposed to team him up with actor Nicolas Cage, but it now appears as if thats not going to happen. Originally under the working title of Scared Straight, the name of the 70s documentary the movie is based on, Riot would have seen Cage playing a prisoner that comes to the aid of the governor's son, kidnapped during a prison riot.
A Riot teaser poster was released last year listing Carpenter and Cage's names (with the phrase "Credits Not Contractural" in fine print at the bottom). However, it now appears as if Cage is dropping out of the project. Producer Katie Chonacas told ScreenCrave: I don't think it's happening anymore. We got Nic Cage to do a two picture deal, and the two picture deal was with Riot however he has the option to exchange it with another film. I'm...

Below we have two new posters for Werner Herzog’s film “Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans,” remake of sorts of Abel Ferrara’s infamous 1992 film, which originally starred Harvey Keitel.
Nicolas Cage plays a rogue detective who is as devoted to his job as he is at scoring drugs — while playing fast and loose with the law. He wields his badge as often as he wields his gun in order to get his way. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina he becomes a high-functioning addict who is a deeply intuitive, fearless detective reigning over the beautiful ruins of New Orleans with authority and abandon. Complicating his tumultuous life is the prostitute he loves (Eva Mendes). Together they descend into their own world marked by desire, compulsion, and conscience. The result is a singular masterpiece of filmmaking: equally sad and manically humorous.
The film also stars Val Kilmer as the cop’s partner,...

Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with up and coming star Katie Chonacas ("Streets of Blood," It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia). After rising out of the modeling world to transition into acting and producing, Katie has built a diverse and prosperous career in entertainment. But, her passions don't stop with the screen. Chonacas also takes pride in her artwork, currently on exhibition at Hollywood's Groundwork Coffee shop. In the interview below, Chonacas discusses her past acting roles as well as current projects in production - including "Jekyll and Hyde," starring 50 Cent and Forest Whitaker. So tell me about ‘Streets of Blood.’ It’s a change of face from some of your prior roles: playing a teenage drug addict versus doing acting on something like ‘It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.’ How was it getting in to that type of character and your role there? Katie Chonacas: It was really great.

Val Kilmer, Fairuza Balk, Jennifer Coolidge, Vondie Curtis Hall, Shawn Hatosy, Denzel Whitaker and Xzibit are about to have a "Bad" trip.
They're set to join Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendez in Werner Herzog's cop drama "Bad Lieutenant." Shea Wigham, Katie Chonacas ("Righteous Kill") and Brad Dourif also are among those who will appear in the update of Abel Ferrara's cult classic.
The original followed the depraved adventures of a corrupt policeman (Harvey Keitel) investigating the rape of a nun. The new film will feature Cage as the titular crooked cop and capture the spirit of the original, with the protagonist's drug intake, accepting sexual favors as bribes and other elements that endeared so many to the 1992 version.
The new film will feature Kilmer as Cage's partner, while Xzibit will play a villain.
The original's producer, Edward R. Pressman, will produce the new version with Stephen Belafonte, Alan Polsky and Gabe Polsky. Billy Finkelstein wrote the screenplay, loosely based on Ferrara and Zoe Lund's script.
Nu Image/Millennium's project will feature the company's Avi Lerner, Danny Dimbort, Trevor Short and Boaz Davidson as exec producers, along with Elliot Rosenblatt and Alessandro Camon. Randall Emmett and Cage's Saturn Films also produce. Filming is set to begin later in the summer.
Kilmer is repped by Icm and Affirmative. Balk is repped by Innovative and Untitled. Coolidge is repped by Gersh. Curtis Hall is repped by Gersh and 3 Arts. Hatosy is repped by Ifa and Mee. Whitaker is repped by Wma. Xzibit is repped by Paradigm and Management 360. Wigham is repped by Principal Management. Chonacas is repped by Holder Management. Dourif is repped by Innovative.
