Jeremy Clarkson Rules Himself Out Of ‘Top Gear’ Return, But Says Show “Needed More Than Ever”
Image
One of the BBC’s most successful ever exports, motoring show Top Gear, has had a chequered run in recent years, culminating with it being indefinitely suspended after presenter Freddie Flintoff was badly injured in an accident in 2022.

Now, former presenter Jeremy Clarkson says the show is needed more than ever, with the arrival of more electric cars.

Clarkson left the show under a cloud in 2015 after an altercation with a producer, and went on to front Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour as well as his own hit farming show Clarkson’s Farm, but he told The Times of London it would be very sad if the show never returned.

Clarkson said: “There’s room for a car programme at the moment because cars are changing so fast and electrical cars are coming along and nobody really understands what’s a good one and what isn’t.

‘Grand Tour’ Special Drops Soon, More Follows On Prime
Image
Grand Tour, which features famous Top Gear drivers James May, Jeremy Clarkson, and Richard Hammond, will return with a special on Amazon Prime soon. And it’s not the only time that will happen. Other specials are also scheduled. Read on for more information.

The Finale Was Not The Finale?

If you love Jeremy’s dry humor, you might have felt sad when The Grand Tour dropped its finale episode on September 13. The spectacular scenery of Zimbabwe boosted tourism in the region, and Jeremy said that he “saved the best for last.”

Scenery in Zimbabwe on the finale – Amazon

Petrol heads and those who enjoy the often dangerous driving conditions on the show will, no doubt, be happy to hear that Amazon confirms more comes in the form of specials. And, according to the Swindon Advertiser, the first one drops on April 18. They will showcase the “Best moments of the series.

Freddie Flintoff Reveals Healed Face Ahead Of Disney+ Documentary Detailing His ‘Top Gear’ Accident
Image
Andrew Flintoff shared a picture of his healed face to mark the announcement of his forthcoming Disney+ documentary.

Flintoff – better known by his nickname Freddie – was seriously injured in a motoring accident in 2022, during filming of the BBC car show Top Gear.

The former England cricketer crashed in a Morgan Super 3 car, and was left with severe facial injuries as well as broken ribs.

Filming on the long-running show – whose previous hosts include Jeremy Clarkson and his Grand Tour castmates James May and Richard Hammond – was immediately suspended, and it has since been reported that there are no plans to reboot the programme.

Now, Flintoff will explore the ramifications of his accident in a Disney+ documentary titled Flintoff, to premiere in the UK and Ireland on April 25.

Publicising the film, the TV presenter said:

“Cricket’s always been a massive part of my life, shaping who I am.

“I Read It in the Paper”: Matt LeBlanc Was Taken Aback by the ‘Betrayal’ in Top Gear That Put Him in a Weird Spot
Image
Og Top Gear fans skip season 23. Fine, let’s be honest. All the Og fans jumped ship alongside the trio of Richard Hammond, Jeremy Clarkson, and James May to go watch their alternative automotive comedy series, The Grand Tour, on Amazon.

After all, future presenters surely wouldn’t find it easy to replicate the magic and chemistry built on Jezza, Hamster, and Captain Slow’s frantic antics for over a decade.

Matt LeBlanc & Chris Evans on the Top Gear set (S23) | Credits: BBC

Just ask BBC sweetheart, Chris Evans. The ginger-haired radio kingpin parachuted in to save the day after Clarkson’s infamous “fracas”-fueled dismissal. But even an A-lister co-host like Matt LeBlanc wasn’t able to salvage Evans’ screaming charge (no pun intended) after six episodes.

However, the ex-tfi Friday host’s sudden exit from Top Gear after only a single season spilled plenty of plans and problems...

Here’s How The Grand Tour Plans To Continue Without Jeremy Clarkson & Richard Hammond
Image
The Grand Tour will continue on Amazon Prime Video despite its trio of original hosts, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, leaving the series in 2024.

The hit TV automotive magazine served as a spiritual follow-up for BBC's The Grand Tour fans, which also saw Clarkson, Hammond, and May in the driver's seat.

However, more than a decade after leaving the BBC series, the iconic trio of TV personalities decided it was time to call it quits on their Prime Video show as well, putting The Grand Tour in their rearview after three seasons and nine specials.

Richard Hammond & James May Make “Slightly Traumatizing” Return To ‘Top Gear’ Studio
Image
After hanging up their The Grand Tour driving gloves, it appears that Richard Hammond and James May have become all nostalgic about their careers in motoring television.

For unclear reasons, the presenters returned to the studio of Top Gear nearly a decade after they left the iconic BBC show to launch their Amazon Prime Video series.

In a video for May’s YouTube channel, Hammond and his co-star walked the grounds of Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, home to the Top Gear race track and other facilities.

The duo appeared genuinely nostalgic as they reflected on their 12-year spell on the show that propelled them to TV stardom alongside Jeremy Clarkson.

“Oh my God, this was a massive part of our lives for a long time,” Hammond said as he approached the structure that doubled as their production office, writing room, green room, and make-up studio.

“It seems like only yesterday,...

10 Years After 'Top Gear' Departure, James May Says BBC Made a Huge Mistake Firing Jeremy Clarkson
Image
It’s been a decade since the iconic trio of Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond exited BBC's Top Gear in explosive and controversial fashion, and May believes that the BBC’s decision to axe Clarkson back in 2015 was a massive misstep. In a candid interview with The Times of London, May reflected on the fallout from that huge moment, insisting that Top Gear’s sensational run didn’t have to come crashing down after that one incident.

“The BBC Didn’t Need To Sack Jeremy Clarkson,” Says ‘Top Gear’ Co-Presenter James May
Image
The BBC didn’t need to sack Jeremy Clarkson from its hit car show Top Gear, says his former co-presenter James May.

Clarkson and May, together with Richard Hammond, were the stars of the show in its most popular era when the series drew millions of viewers in the UK and overseas, audiences drawn as much to the camaraderie between the three men as to the discussion of different vehicles.

That all came to an abrupt end in 2015 when Clarkson was fired by the BBC for assaulting a producer when his meal failed to arrive after a day’s filming. May and Hammond quit in solidarity, and the trio were swiftly scooped up by Amazon to appear in The Grand Tour, which ran for eight years and became one of the platform’s biggest shows.

Reflecting on the team’s departure from the BBC, May told The Times of London...

Stranger Things Season 5 Must Break The Character Death Rule All 4 Seasons Have Followed So Far
Image
If Stranger Things wants to provide a rewarding conclusion to the fate of Hawkins, it must break one character death rule that all four seasons have complied with so far. The series rose to popularity after its premiere in 2016, and since then, the Duffer Brothers have been responsible for creating some of the most beloved characters on TV for Stranger Things. Although the series is praised for its intriguing story, stunning visuals, and homages to the 1980s era, audiences chastise one common theme — and Stranger Things season 5 only has one more chance to fix its most annoying problem.

The most recent season significantly raises the stakes for Hawkins' best defenders, but Stranger Things still has a lot of loose ends to tie up in the wake of Vecna (Jamie Campbell Bower). After eight years, it's becoming more obvious the Duffer Brothers are giving a wide berth to killing any of their established main characters.

Jeremy Clarkson Given Emergency Heart Surgery, After Falling Ill On Holiday
Image
Jeremy Clarkson has revealed that he recently underwent emergency heart surgery, including the insertion of a stent, after he was suddenly taken ill after returning home from holiday.

The star of The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm, both huge hits on the streamer Amazon Prime, wrote in his column for The Sunday Times newspaper that he felt clammy, with a tightness in his chest and pins and needles in his left arm.

He wrote: “I certainly wasn’t having a heart attack. But if it hadn’t looked that way, I never would have been sent to hospital.”

The TV farmer added that a few days before, while on holiday in the Indian Ocean, he had had to “take a moment to make sure my limbs were working properly” when he stood up, “struggled” with swimming, and could not descend a flight of stairs “without holding someone’s hand.”

Image
Years after their Top Gear glory days, Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May, show no signs of slowing down, and continue to go strong with their other car show, The Grand Tour. No matter the show they're on, the presenter trio is still living dangerously, throwing themselves into all sorts of wild and dangerous stunts that have seen more than a few cars crashed.

Over the years, the experts on the great car repair show have gladly participated in several dangerous stunts. Still, even though their driving skills are unmatched, the endless laughter they bring is what sets them apart from other car show presenters. Whether through dialogue or comical moments, Clarkson, May, and Hammond have dragged the humor with them wherever they have gone. And while every episode delivers a few laughs, there are some particularly funny highlights over the show's 33-season run.

Top Gear has been a popular reality TV show for over 30 years, and over its long run, it has produced some great specials. Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond consistently prove their Midas touch is everlasting. In The Grand Tour special, the car experts maintain their comedic form as they journey across Norway and engage in all forms of mischief. Even though the presenters have adapted to life away from the BBC, their work on Top Gear is still remembered fondly.

On their former show, the trio occasionally went on road trips to different countries where they explored the landscapes as well as the different cultures. With a running time that was longer than the standard 60 minutes of the normal episodes, the specials were always something to look forward to. Jeremy Clarkson ‘The Grand Tour’ Zimbabwe – ‘The Best For Last’
Image
The Grand Tour featuring controversial motoring fanatic Jeremy Clarkson dropped its finale episode on September 13, and Top Gear fans love it. However, many Zimbabweans are thrilled because the iconic TV journalist showcased their country and claimed he’d “saved the best for last.”

Jeremy Clarkson, James May & Richard Hammond On The Grand Tour

Not deterred by those who slammed him for assaulting a BBC producer while filming Top Gear or those who wanted him canceled for dissing Meghan Markle, the famous tongue-in-cheek journalist went on and started Clarkson’s Farm. Aired on Amazon Prime, he won a lot of fans back.

The Grand Tour was another project put together through Amazon Prime, and motoring enthusiasts cheered. Premiering in 2016, the show featured Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond. They brought motoring adventures from many countries and it streamed worldwide. But now, he claimed Zimbabwe was the “best” and they “saved” it “for last.

Here's Why The Grand Tour Ended With 'One for the Road'
Image
Jeremy Clarkson and the rest of The Grand Tour crew have said goodbye to the franchise with the release of One for the Road.

Clarkson, along with his two co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May, has called it quits after 22 years of being the predominant voices in automotive TV journalism.

The trio worked together on BBC's Top Gear for 13 years from 2002-2015 before being ousted from the program thanks to an alleged assault by Clarkson and starting The Grand Tour (another tongue-in-cheek car-focused TV magazine) for Amazon Prime Video.

‘Clarkson’s Farm’s Kaleb Cooper Reveals BTS Arguments With Jeremy Clarkson
Image
Kaleb Cooper shot to fame as Jeremy Clarkson’s farming manager in the hit Prime video series Clarkson’s Farm, and is known for arguing often with his boss and co-star while they are filming. Now he has shared that, in fact, only “40 percent” of the pair’s fallings-out are actually shown on screen.

Cooper told The Sun newspaper:

“Everything you see on the camera is everything you see behind-the-scenes as well. I mean yes we still argue and I reckon they probably only show 40 per cent of the arguments we actually have.

“But the main thing is that if we have an argument, ten minutes later we’re best friends again. We’ll be like, ‘Do you want a cup of tea? Do you want to go to the pub? Do you want to go for a meal?’”

Cooper, who grew up near Clarkson’s farm Diddly Squat in the UK Cotswolds,...

‘The Grand Tour’ Producer Recalls “Fight” With BBC To Keep Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May Together After ‘Top Gear’ Imploded
Image
Andy Wilman has been reflecting on the turmoil in the weeks after Jeremy Clarkson punched a Top Gear producer and was fired by the BBC.

The BBC was plunged into crisis in 2015 when the Top Gear “fracas” paved the way for Clarkson and co-hosts Richard Hammond and James May to join Amazon Prime Video to launch The Grand Tour. Wilman, then Top Gear’s executive producer, also moved over.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, the executive producer revealed he had to “fight” the BBC to keep the trio of presenters together. The British broadcaster battled to lock down Hammond and May, with former creative director Alan Yentob playing a pivotal role in the talks.

‘The Grand Tour’ Producer Andy Wilman Promises “Weepy” Final Episode From Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond & James May — Edinburgh

Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond, and James May are planning to shuffle off the Amazon Prime Video stage with more of a whimper than a bang, according to The Grand Tour’s executive producer.

Andy Wilman said the final episode featuring the Top Gear alumni will be an “unplugged,” emotional affair when it premieres on Amazon Prime Video on September 13.

Speaking at the Edinburgh TV Festival, Wilman said: “They wanted to go a bit back to 2005 or 2006 … leave the dynamite and just go [to Africa] with shit old cars.”

He added: “Not much happens, I would say. Anyone who thinks they’re going to get Avengers: Endgame is going to be disappointed because it is deliberately gentle. But their camaraderie is next level.”

The final road trip was filmed in Zimbabwe and Botswana, the location of their first Top Gear special. Wilman said it is a nostalgic trip, with Clarkson, Hammond, and May...

Former Top Gear host Andrew Flintoff has opened up about the high-speed crash that has transformed his life, saying: “I shouldn’t be here.”

Flintoff said he “struggles with anxiety,” has “nightmares” and “flashbacks” in comments trailed by BBC News that were filmed during the second season of his cricket series Freddie Flintoff’s Field of Dreams, which were recorded last summer.

These were the first comments Flintoff has made publicly about the crash, which has seen the BBC pay him £9M ($11.5M) in compensation following an investigation by producer BBC Studios and the popular show rested “for the foreseeable future.”

The three stars have filed documents to dissolve their company W. Chump and Sons. That means that with the exception of the already filmed Zimbabwe episode, they will no longer be working together in this capacity. The company was successful with £6 million in turnover, and £ 3.8 in assets.

Not bad for three guys who transformed reality television.

2024 Emmy nominations ballot: 48 reality/competition hosts vie for your consideration
Image
Since 2008, the TV academy has honored the work of reality and competition series presenters with the Emmy Award for Best Reality/Competition Host. During this year’s first-round nominations voting period, academy members from eight branches must choose from 48 entrants, which is down from 2023’s total of 67 and keeps the number of available nomination slots at five.

Included on the 2024 ballot is reigning victor RuPaul Charles, who has prevailed on all eight of his consecutive bids for “RuPaul’s Drag Race.” Also seeking another win is Jeff Probst (“Survivor”), who dominated the category from 2008 to 2011 but has not been nominated since.

The peer groups allowed to vote for nominations in this category are casting directors, daytime programming, performers, producers, production executives, professional representatives, reality, and television executives. These voters have until June 24 to choose from the options listed below, and the lineup will be announced on July 17.

‘The Grand Tour’ Star James May Clarifies Jab At Pride Flags: “I’m Not Suggesting The Pride Movement Has Anything In Common With Nazis”
Image
James May has said his tweet about Pride flags in London has been misinterpreted.

Earlier this week, The Grand Tour presenter posted on X (once Twitter) that he “admired” the Pride movement, but that rows of LGBTQ+ flags in central London “may be seen as authoritarian.”

“Please remember that some terrible things, with which you would not wish to be allied, began with Tmb [Too Much Bunting]. World War Two, for example,” he wrote.

Pride: while I have observed and admired what you have achieved over my lifetime, may I respectfully suggest that you are borderline guilty of Too Much Bunting (Tmb). It may be seen as authoritarian, and therefore oppressive.

Please remember that some terrible things, with which… pic.twitter.com/DsMcikkaVF

May was quickly accused of comparing the Pride movement to the Nazis, leading to him posting a series of replies rejecting the suggestion. “No dog whistling intended,...

‘Clarkson’s Farm’ Producer Knows When Amazon Prime Series Will End
Image
Amazon Prime’s Clarkson’s Farm Season 3 is another unqualified success. People love Jeremy Clarkson’s farming series. Best of all, they are already filming Season 4. However, Andy Wilman, the producer of this series, as well as The Grand Tour has revealed that there is already an endgame.

How long with Jeremy Clarkson continue this series? Here is the surprising answer.

Kaleb Cooper Clarkson’s Farm – YouTube Jeremy Clarkson Knows When He Will End Clarkson’s Farm

In Clarkson’s Farm Season 3, it seems that Jeremy and Lisa have hit a stride with pig farming. They also finally got planning permission to sell their products. Growing mushrooms has hit a snag, but they continue to figure out more ways to make their property valuable. However, it doesn’t mean that this show will last forever.

According to Deadline, producer Andy Wilman has revealed that he doesn’t know how long this series will last.

‘Clarkson’s Farm’ Producer Andy Wilman: Ratings Success Has Been Unexpected, But Jeremy Will Walk Away When He’s Got Nothing Left To Say
Image
Exclusive: Andy Wilman looks like a man who’s not seen sunlight for a while. Peering down the barrel of a Zoom call, he’s got a touch of man flu after a spell in his editing bunker. Wilman is perpetually “in an edit.” He’s currently honing the final episode of The Grand Tour, but he could just as well be looking at rushes from Clarkson’s Farm Season 4. It is his happy place.

We talk just days after Season 3 has been confirmed as Amazon Prime Video’s highest-rated UK original, sitting acres ahead of lavishly-budgeted series including Fallout and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. Not bad for a show in which the centerpiece storyline is the birthing journey of a pig named Baroness. Clarkson’s Farm was, in Wilman’s words, conceived as Clarkson’s “solo album” away from Richard Hammond and James May, but...

The Grand Tour: Sand Job Interview: Richard Hammond on the man & machine stories & the ‘three idiot blokes’ & new Trailer
Jeremy Clarkson
Prime Video has debuted the trailer for the upcoming adventure with Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, ‘The Grand Tour: Sand Job.’ Which is perfect timing to present our extended interview with one the its stars – Richard Hammond.

Colin Hart sat down with the presenter to talk about the new series, the lure and appeal of the show as it has evolved and what was the spark in the original Top Gear meetings that helped spawn these huge shows.

Trailer Time!

Jeremy, James and Richard head to Africa for their penultimate adventure, and given they are entering the end game, they make sure this outing is a spectacular one.

In the remote African country of Mauritania, the trio follow in the footsteps of the legendary Paris-Dakar rally. Instead of bespoke Dakar racers, the boys must complete their journey in cheap modified sports cars. Their journey begins with the world...

Protesting French Farmers Heap Praise On ‘Clarkson’s Farm’ As They Lay Siege To Paris
Image
French farmers, who are currently blockading Paris with their tractors to protest the economic crisis facing the country’s agricultural sector, have found an unlikely hero in Jeremy Clarkson.

The controversial TV presenter has won praise from the protestors for his Amazon Prime Video Series Clarkson’s Farm, following his attempts to run his Diddly Squat Farm in the Cotswolds, and public backing of British farming.

“We need one of our French celebrities to do the same thing as Jeremy Clarkson in Amazon Prime Series Clarkson’s Farm,” protesting French farmer Robi Leduc told a reporter from the UK’s The Telegraph newspaper.

French farmers say their sector is on the brink of collapse as incomes fall due to rising environmental regulations, red tape and competition from cheaper imports, all issues Clarkson has talked about in his show in relation to British farming.

“Everything he explained: that’s how and why we are here today,...

Jeremy Clarkson on ‘The Grand Tour’ Ending: I’m ‘Unfit and Fat and Old’
Image
When the news came out in December that “The Grand Tour” — Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond’s post-“Top Gear” automotive series — would be coming to an end, fans were left wondering why.

But, in a new interview with The Times, Clarkson has delivered a cheeky yet straightforward answer: it’s because he’s “unfit and fat and old.”

Clarkson told The Times that the show “is immensely physical, and when you’re unfit and fat and old, which I am…” He also feels the trio has done just about “everything you can do with a car.”

“I’ve driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else,” Clarkson said. “We’ve done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air.”

There are still two more specials of “The Grand Tour,...

Jeremy Clarkson Says He Quit ‘The Grand Tour’ After Running Out Of Ideas & Becoming “Unfit, Fat & Old”
Image
Jeremy Clarkson has revealed why it’s the end of the road for The Grand Tour. Clarkson said he and co-hosts, James May and Richard Hammond, decided to quit the Amazon Prime Video show after running out of steam.

In an interview with The Times of London, Clarkson said it was becoming increasingly difficult to conjure up outlandish adventures for the show and that the presenters were all showing their age.

Clarkson, who is 63, said: “I’ve driven cars higher than anyone else and further north than anyone else. We’ve done everything you can do with a car. When we had meetings about what to do next, people just threw their arms in the air.”

He added that The Grand Tour missions are “immensely physical” and had become increasingly difficult when “you’re unfit and fat and old.” “If you’re Bear Grylls you go to a hotel — there...

James May Won’t “Rule Out” Reunion With Jeremy Clarkson & Richard Hammond After ‘Grand Tour’ Journey Ends
Image
James May has left the car door open for a reunion with Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond after they park their Prime Video series The Grand Tour for a final time.

During BBC Radio 4’s Today program, which he was guest editing this morning, he responded to a question about the future of the series by saying: “Well, we’ve filmed the last one for now. I suppose that makes me technically unemployed — I can hear the cheers rolling around the country.

“We’ve got two in the bag, though, so there’s one coming out very soon. I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say here. Then [there is] another one coming out a bit after that.”

In November, Clarkson told The Times newspaper that the trio were “done” after 34 years of car review programs. However, Prime Video is yet to officially cancel The Grand Tour, which is among its highest-rating original series.

‘The Grand Tour’ Not Moving Forward at Amazon Prime Video With Hosts Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond
Image
Amazon Prime Video’s automotive series “The Grand Tour” is not moving forward at the streamer — at least with its current hosts, former “Top Gear” trio Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond.

Sources tell Variety that Clarkson, May and Hammond have just returned from filming the show’s final special in Zimbabwe, which will launch at a later date next year and conclude the fifth season. A special set in Mauritania will launch before that, in February. Though options to continue the series with different hosts are being explored, it has not yet been greenlit. The “Grand Tour” news follows the announcement earlier this week that Clarkson’s other show on Amazon Prime Video, “Clarkson’s Farm,” is getting a fourth season.

Clarkson said in a statement to The Times on Thursday, “We’re done. I have reviewed cars on TV since 1989. That’s 34 years. And after next year, I...

Red Sea Revs Up

Shifting sands: Red Sea International Film Festival, the big Saudi Arabian film get-together, opens its third edition next Thursday in the port city of Jeddah. The event was launched in the wake of Saudi Arabia lifting of its 35-year cinema ban at the end of 2017, as part of its 2030 Vision plan aimed at moving the economy away from a reliance on oil, and has become an integral part of the country’s ambition to become the leading film and TV hub in the Mena region. But announcements on films and guests have been down to the wire this year, as the event juggles the shifting sands of the global geo-political tensions set in motion by the Israel-Hamas...

James May Says ‘Top Gear’ Needs a ‘Rethink’ After BBC Puts Show on Pause — but Don’t Expect Him to ‘Come Back and Rescue It’
Image
After the BBC revealed that “Top Gear” won’t be returning “for the foreseeable future,” former presenter James May has said that the series needs “a bit of a rethink.”

In an interview on the BBC’s “Today” podcast, May — who hosted “Top Gear” alongside Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond for over a decade — said that the show must be revamped whenever it does return.

“My honest view is — I can say this now — it does need a bit of a rethink,” May told the BBC. “It’s time for a new format and a new approach to the subject because the subject has not been this interesting, I suspect, since the car has been invented.”

On Tuesday, the BBC announced that “Top Gear” had officially been put on pause following a halt in production after presenter Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff was injured in an on-set accident in December. Flintoff had...
