Alan Ritchson Splits With Longtime Manager Dan Spilo (Exclusive)
Image
As Alan Ritchson moved up the ranks from working actor to the A-list star of Amazon hit Reacher, manager Dan Spilo was there to guide his meteoric rise.

Spilo helped build a mini empire around the actor, now one of the more in-demand names in Hollywood. He attached himself as a producer on four upcoming Ritchson films, including a Nicholas Sparks adaptation set up at Amazon, as well as Runner, based on a Black List script about a courier on a life-and-death delivery.

Those heady times came crashing down last week on the Australian set of Runner, with Ritchson suddenly cutting ties with his longtime manager. No concrete reason has emerged, but Spilo, a partner at Industry Entertainment, has a hard-charging reputation and has rankled numerous colleagues and collaborators over the years. Sources say things became heated between the two, and Spilo left the set and no longer will get...

The Forgotten Horror Movie Reality Show Hosted By James Gunn
Image
Back in 2008 -- when torture movies were still riding high -- VH1 had a brilliant idea. Well, they had a "brilliant" idea. Tapping into the successes of both the "Saw" movies and reality shows like "America's Next Top Model," the network produced "Scream Queens," a competition show that gathered together 10 hopeful actresses and had them undergo a series of auditions and acting challenges, arranged in an elimination tourney structure, with each getting help from professional acting coach John Homa. The grand prize would be a small role in "Saw VI."

It might come as a surprise to you that this series was directed by James Gunn, who also served as one of the show's main judges. He was joined on the judge's panel by Shawnee Smith, who played the role of Amanda Young in "Saw," "Saw II," "Saw III," "Saw VI," and "Saw X." This was at a time when...

Wtf Happened to Sin City: A Dame to Kill For?
Image
In 2005, Robert Rodriguez changed the way we looked at comic book movies forever with Sin City, his picture-perfect adaptation of Frank Miller’s graphic novel series. Such a passion project it was for Rodriguez that he even resigned from the Director’s Guild so he could share directing credit with Miller himself. The movie was a box office success, making $158 million worldwide off a $40 million budget, but more importantly, it gave us a thrillingly unique example of how green-screen technology could be utilized – put simply, you’d never seen a graphic novel come to life quite like this. Naturally, with a wealth of Sin City material still available to them, Rodriguez and Miller would want to make a sequel to their hit movie. And they did, although it took a whole lot longer to come to life than anyone initially expected. Hope you’re ready to travel back to that...

Hulu Leaves No Stone Unturned in Trailer for Sherri Papini Docuseries
Image
If Eminem’s catchy new single “Houdini” has you Googling Sherri Papini, well, allow Hulu to act as a second source of information.

The Disney streamer is diving into the Papini case with a three-part docuseries titled “Perfect Wife: The Mysterious Disappearance of Sherri Papini” from filmmakers Erin Lee Carr, Michael Beach Nichols, and executive producers Rob Ford, Allison Berkley and Joseph Freed of Marwar Junction Productions.

The basics of the case are well known: In November 2016, Sherri Papini went for a jog and vanished from the northern California neighborhood where she lived with her husband Keith. This triggered a frenzied search and worldwide headlines.

But as “Houdini” spoils for you, her “kid-nappin’/never did happen.”

Papini was found alive on a Sacramento Highway 22 days later, claiming that she was abducted and tortured by two Hispanic women. She had some brutal-looking injuries she said she received at the hands of her kidnappers,...

This Underrated Netflix Zombie Show Did One Thing Better Than The Walking Dead
Image
When it comes to TV shows about zombies, there's no point in arguing against the importance of a show like The Walking Dead. Released in 2010, created by Hollywood's horror master Frank Darabont, and based on the comic book by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, the show completely changed the TV landscape after fan favorites like Lost and Prison Break had come to an end. Suddenly, a new show had arrived, and though it was based on a horror subgenre that most people didn't seem to connect with, it presented a dramatic backdrop that was worth grabbing ourselves onto. Those that came after, spin-offs and others completely unrelated, didn't match The Walking Dead, even when it started fizzling out.

However, in the small universe of zombie TV shows, there's one that, in retrospect, could give The Walking Dead a run for its money. And it isn't exactly a huge production.

Michelle Williams Gets Very into Character in Viral Clip of Her Audiobook Narration of Britney Spears’ ‘Woman in Me’ Memoir
Justin Timberlake
Michelle Williams’ impression of Justin Timberlake has gone viral, with fans calling it Oscar-worthy.

The Academy Award-winning actress made headlines after the announcement that she would narrate the audiobook for Britney Spears’ memoir “The Woman in Me.” A fellow former young TV star like Spears, the “Dawson’s Creek” alum channels a specific accent when reading a section involving Spears’ ex Timberlake trying to impress singer Ginuwine in New York City.

“His band *Nsync was back then what people called ‘so pimp.’ They were white boys but they loved hip-hop. To me, that’s what separated them from the Backstreet Boys, who seemed very consciously to position themselves as a white group,” Spears wrote, which Williams reads in a clip circulating Twitter.

The memoir continued, “*Nsync hung out with Black artists. Sometimes I thought they tried too hard to fit in. One day J and I were in New York, going...

The Notebook Casting Director Shares Britney Spears' Emotional Audition Video: "Our Jaws Were on the Floor"
Image
Britney Spears came very close to landing the role of Allie in The Notebook, impressing the casting director with her acting skills. Despite missing out on the role, Spears's career as a celebrity wouldn't have changed much, but it could have altered the world's perspective of her as an actress. The Notebook was a monumental film for both Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, catapulting them into stardom with their memorable performances.

Days after Britney Spears revealed that she was very close to starring in the romantic drama The Notebook alongside Ryan Gosling, the film's casting director shares the singer's emotional audition that left them speechless.

After leaving her mark in the world of music and becoming the princess of pop in the late 90s and early 00s, Britney Spears wanted to expand her horizons and participated in several films and television series. And although in many of those projects...

Watch Britney Spears’ Audition for ‘The Notebook’ That Casting Director Called ‘Phenomenal’
Image
Britney Spears is “In the Zone” with her acting skills in a now-viral audition tape for “The Notebook.”

Spears, who infamously was almost cast in the Nicholas Sparks adaptation alongside Ryan Gosling, ultimately lost the role to Rachel McAdams. “The Notebook” casting director Matthew Barry shared the audition tape from August 2002 with The Daily Mail, adding that Spears “blew away” the film’s producers.

“Britney wasn’t just good, she was phenomenal,” Barry said. “It was a tough decision. Britney blew us all away. Our jaws were on the floor. I was blown away. Absolutely blown away. She brought her A-game that day.”

Spears auditioned to play the role of Allie, who is torn between two men in the 1940s. According to Barry, Spears “beat out several of the top female actresses” at the time to be one of the final contenders for the lead.

“Scarlett Johansson, Claire Danes, Kate Bosworth,...

And we’re confident that this album will be no different. We’ve learned so much from the songs she’s already released -- not to mention the caption she left on an Instagram post on Aug. 25 after announcing the album:...
