Well, that’s not how I expected The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 to conclude, but I’m intrigued about where things will go next.
This series has been such a refreshing delight this summer that it’s a real shame it’s now heading into what will no doubt be a long hiatus.
That’s the curse of loving a summer series: just when you’re fully invested, it’s time to wait months for answers.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)
But we have a lot to unpack from this finale, so let’s dive in.
From the moment Gregor was introduced, the possibilities felt endless. He’s the kind of villain who thrives in a franchise like The Librarians — clever, dangerous, and theatrical enough that you never quite know what angle he’ll play next.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)
One of the unwritten rules of this universe is that villains rarely stay gone forever.

When TNT canceled The Librarians after four seasons and countless movies, there were many unhappy fans.
When The Librarians: The Next Chapter was announced, there were questions about which franchise alums would be stopping by.
Now that we’re approaching the season finale, details are trickling out about the second season of the sequel series, including which guest stars are on board.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)
The cabler has confirmed that Christian Kane, who plays Jacob Stone, has booked a return visit to the series.
However, an episode could not have been determined for his role, but since Jacob is a crucial element of why the Library is currently functional in Belgrade, I doubt he’ll ever be too far from the drama.
(TBS/Screenshot)
Jacob is a part of The Librarians’ DNA, too, so that bodes well for him to continue making sporadic appearances.

How Tamil Cinema’s 10-Year Transformation Set The Stage For 2025’s ₹50 Cr Blockbuster Wave ( Photo Credit – X )
Tamil cinema has been quietly reinventing what it takes to make a solid story and sell it to a wider audience. This quiet revolution of money, metrics, and storytelling has brought the area to the forefront of Indian cinema.
From raw indie dramas to polished pan-Indian spectacles, Tamil cinema has spent the last ten years laying the groundwork for its current box office dominance, and 2025 is simply reaping the rewards.
Tamil cinema’s quiet revolution that began in the 2010s
Back in the early 2010s, Tamil cinema was already experimenting with complex storytelling and bold themes—Aaranya Kaandam brought neo-noir into the mainstream, while Subramaniapuram and Pariyerum Perumal proved that gritty, rooted narratives could still pull crowds. Directors like Vetrimaaran, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Mari Selvaraj were redrawing the boundaries of storytelling.

Now that’s The Librarians I was waiting for.
The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 11 delivered the most cohesive, engaging, and emotionally complex hour of the season so far — and that’s saying a lot.
By finally bringing Gregor into the present timeline and fleshing out new characters like Hermione, the series took a massive step toward fulfilling its potential.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)
Let’s start with Vikram’s heel turn — or, maybe more accurately, his very human descent into uncertainty and self-doubt.
Vikram has been one of the most unpredictable characters throughout The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1. He oscillates between a charismatic hero and an impulsive wildcard, but this episode gave us a clearer glimpse into the internal conflict that has been bubbling beneath the surface.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)

Yes, we’re talking about Maareesan, which isn’t a big film but rooted and totally content-driven.

Reception of the film
Apart from Fahadh, the film also features Vadivelu. Released yesterday (July 25), the Kollywood comedy crime thriller opened to mostly decent reviews from critics, with the leading cast getting praised for their strong performances.

“Mandala Murders” is a gripping crime thriller that weaves together ancient rituals, mysticism, and fantasy. The story opens with the enigmatic Aayastis—a secretive group bound by a long-standing vendetta and the possession of a powerful, mystical artifact. Their thirst for vengeance unleashes a chain of events that stretches across decades, linking past traumas to present-day horrors.
When Vikram, a resolute police officer, returns to his hometown, he’s drawn into a web of personal grief and an eerie murder investigation. As he searches for answers about his missing mother, he stumbles upon a series of ritualistic killings marked by a strange, recurring symbol—one that defies logic and points toward something far more sinister.
Simultaneously, Rea, a brilliant yet haunted Cbi officer, is assigned to the Charandaspur case. Carrying the weight of her own past, she dives headfirst into a town steeped in secrets and shadowed by powerful forces.

In the last episode, Rea’s connection with the land of Charandaspur and the cult was finally explained. With the reawakening of the cult’s activities, the Aayastis are moving to repeat the revival of Yast through murders that they call sacrifices. The final sacrifice has to be the miracle son’s blood, which would flow in Yast’s vein and bring him to life. Will Rea be able to stop it, or will she have to accept Nandini’s fate? Who is the miracle son after all? We find out in the finale of Mandala Murders.

There were many characters in Mandala Murders who, intentionally or unintentionally, got involved in whatever was happening in the Charandaspur village. There were a few who pulled the strings and were the masterminds of the entire operation. There were a few who became victims, and then there were some who were adamant about finding out the truth behind the murders. So let’s get to know these characters and find out what happened to them in Season 1.
Spoiler Alert
Rea Thomas
Rea worked at the Central Bureau of Investigation, and she was the one who was given the responsibility of investigating the murders that had happened in Charandaspur. Apart from the fact that Rea was leading the investigation, there was another thing that made her an integral part of the cult that operated in the village. Her ancestor, Nandini, was the one who had created that electronic device that was...

In its sixth episode, Mandala Murders leads us through a diagram—and the key of the diagram is Jimmy Khan. Jimmy is the grandson of Giyasuddin Khan, who killed the Aaysti Cult members. While he is the one decoding the symbols to locate what element is sought out in the next murder, he cannot escape the fate created for him. We look back on Jimmy’s life and await a loss that may completely change him.

What Happens in This Episode?
In this episode, we flashback to twenty-five years back when Jimmy was in Ladakh. He calls home, and his son receives the call; as he speaks on, his son interrupts to say that his mother had passed away. Jimmy has not been a present father, but years later when Kaivalya turned up with Noor at his door after Zulfi and his wife’s death, he asked him to be a good grandfather.

If we go by the theory that nothing is random in Mandala Murders, then we’ve got to say that Kavita Bharadwaj—Ananya’s sister and Vikram’s fiancée—is an integral part of this tale, despite being in a coma. Episode 4 finally shows us who she was and what really happened to her in detail, and I don’t think the show would have done that had she just been a regular ‘almost dead’ fiancée character. Apart from that, we get to know about the other symbols; the doomed romance between Ananya and Vikram is finally confirmed, and there’s a murder too, a rather visceral one. Let us discuss.

Quite often web series tend to slow down by their third episode, after establishing the main story and context in the first two. But that’s not the case with Netflix’s Mandala Murders. The third episode is as jam-packed as the first two and gives zero respite to our characters. The story moves forward at breakneck speed, with the introduction of Raghubir Yadav’s Shastri ji adding another layer to the mystery. Let us take a closer look.

The Mandala Murders are not independent acts of violence but a chain of murders with a cosmic map, related to the cult of Aayastis. In the previous episode, we see Pramod Sahni find out about the pharmacy Monalisa Curio, where the killer skins the face of a princess as per the mandala. First came the voyeur’s body, then came the hands of the Shumbh Nishumbh, the Shaunak’s head, and the princess’ face. Ancient scriptures of astronomy and related texts are found in the curio shop, and Jimmy Khan’s predictions have been able to rightly foretell the two murders. As he keeps decoding the symbols, the victims are being hunted by the killer and being taken through the slash of her sword.

Directed by Gopi Puthran and Manan Rawat, I have to say that Mandala Murders is not a very convincing watch, especially when it comes to the sci-fi aspects of the narrative. With the budget they had, and the kind of prolific star cast they could afford, I believe they could have done a much better job. The problem with Mandala Murders was that, at times, the narrative seemed pretentious, and the impact that it could have had was diluted by certain creative choices the creators made. Yes, the premise had tons of potential, but it was totally wasted because of the lack of authenticity backed by strong writing. Long gone are the days when you could have fooled the audience with cheap gimmicks. I think that they had all the opportunity to create an impactful and entertaining series that was unique in its own way, but certain mediocre creative choices...

The ending of Mandala Murders was all about Rea’s efforts to stop Ananya from bringing Yast into his mortal vessel. Back in the 1950s, Rukmini and the Aayastis began giving shape to Yast’s plan at his chosen place, Aayasthal, which was located deep inside the Varuna Forest in Charandaspur. Anant and his wife, Nandini, arrived there to set up a nuclear plant, and despite several warnings to not defile the sacred grounds, they sanctioned the destruction of the outer walls of Aayasthal. As a result of that, Anant died, and Nandini joined the cult, as Rukmini had shown that she was an integral part of Yast’s design. Nandini created the device that was needed for the supernatural project and was really glad that she was broadening the horizons of science. However, when Nandini learned that, if Yast entered that vessel, it’d lead to the destruction of...

Science fiction, horror, fantasy, and thriller—all are blended together into one pulpy mash in Netflix’s latest Indian offering, Mandala Murders. The Yrf-produced series has Vaani Kapoor (making her Ott debut) in the lead, along with Vaibhav Raj Gupta (whom you know from Gullak) and Surveen Chawla. Kapoor doesn’t have much screentime in the first episode, where Gupta and Chawla do most of the heavy lifting. A whole lot of things unfold in about fifty minutes of runtime, and you might have difficulty keeping track of all of it. Hopefully, this article helps.

Until 2020, there was a concerted effort from the Indian wing of Netflix, or maybe I should say the Hindi wing of Netflix, to tell stories set in the horror genre. Although Bollywood’s relationship with horror had been quite shaky, the streaming platform started off strong with Ghoul. With the ever-dependable Radhika Apte at the helm, the miniseries was a pretty interesting take on John W. Campbell Jr.’s Who Goes There? Then there was Betaal, which, unlike a lot of people, I actually enjoyed quite a bit. The idea of the Brits coming back to haunt us as zombies is an interesting concept, and it had some committed performances from Vineet Kumar Singh, Aahana Kumra, and Manjiri Pupala. After that we got Typewriter, which seemed promising because it had Sujoy Ghosh at the helm, but it was just a boring mess. In Ghost Stories, let’s be honest, only...

Oh, Vikram! What have you done?
The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 10 pivoted in a big way after Vikram’s impulsive, heart-driven decision to use some of the Library’s most iconic artifacts to build a time machine. What could go wrong, right?
Since The Librarians: The Next Chapter Season 1 Episode 1, Vikram has been a wildcard — a man out of time, literally.
(Aleksandar Letic/TNT)
Plucked from the 1800s and thrown into a modern world governed by rules he didn’t help write, Vikram has often clashed with the Library’s rigid code of conduct. While everyone else adapted to the system, he’s been quietly bucking against it from the start.
So when he jumped back in time, was it a betrayal? Or was it an act of destiny? That’s the philosophical tug-of-war this hour explored, and it did so with depth and emotional stakes.

The supernatural possession trope is a storytelling wellspring found in folklore worldwide, from Hollywood’s demonic entities to the spirit-channeling tales in Indian cinema like Bhool Bhulaiyaa. Ghost Killer dives headfirst into this tradition with a distinctly Japanese action-comedy twist. Its high-concept premise is immediate and arresting: a timid college student’s life is violently upended when she becomes spiritually tethered to a deceased hitman.
We meet Fumika Matsuoka, a young woman characterized by a polite passivity that makes her utterly unsuited for the world of violence she is about to enter. Her life changes irrevocably when she stumbles upon a spent bullet casing on the street. This mundane object acts as a conduit, linking her to the ghost of Hideo Kudo, a professional killer recently murdered.
The film quickly establishes its central mechanic: Kudo’s spirit can possess Fumika’s body, transforming the meek student into an unstoppable fighting...

Warning: Mild Spoilers for The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 1, episode 10, "And Going Medieval."
A new clip from The Librarians: The Next Chapter episode 10 hints at a major family secret that could severely threaten Vikram’s already tense relationship with Elaine Astolat. Although the scene in question includes the entire The Librarians: The Next Chapter cast, it’s ultimately one exchange between Vikram and Elaine that appears it may set up the episode’s primary conflict.
The episode’s promo already suggested a continuation of The Librarians: The Next Chapter’s time travel plotline, but it isn’t clear why Vikram would bring the others back in time when they haven’t been part of that plan. With little time left until the wait for The Librarians: The Next Chapter season 2, however, this clip foreshadows a potentially major reveal.

Vampires have been teased all season long, so it was only a matter of time before The Librarians: The Next Chapter finally delivered the fangs.

The Hunter S2 Teaser Review Ft. Jackie Shroff & Suniel Shetty (Photo Credit – YouTube)
How would you feel looking at two yesteryear superstars fighting it out as the hero and villain? Well, it is surreal when you watch Suniel Shetty, fighting the baddie Jackie Shroff, and the Hunter S2 teaser tried teasing and playing on this star power, except for the fact that it could not! In fact, it was a cringe-fest altogether!
Okay, let me be honest: the moment Jackie Shroff’s gravelly voice hits and Suniel Shetty’s intense gaze enters the frame, I travel to the 90s, and this nostalgic pull is a win, witnessing Anna and Bhidu engage in an intense battle. Jackie Shroff, despite the blink-and-miss shots, tries to engage with his dialogue.
Meanwhile, Suniel Shetty brings the brooding intensity we’ve come to expect. There are glimpses of some action sequences suggesting he’s still got the moves.

Who Is Sara Arjun, Ranveer Singh’s Dhurandhar Co-Star? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Aditya Dhar’s next big-screen venture Dhurandhar promises to be one of the most ambitious action thrillers in recent years. Backed by a formidable ensemble including Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshaye Khanna and Arjun Rampal, the film is being positioned as a large-scale espionage drama with global scope and stylized intensity.
Another reason for the movie’s buzz is Sara Arjun, who is announced as the female lead opposite Ranveer Singh. The announcement sparked immediate conversation due to the significant age gap between her and her co-star. For some, the name triggered memories. For others, it prompted a question: who exactly is Sara Arjun? Far from being an unknown, Sara has been in the industry for over a decade, albeit mostly outside the Hindi film mainstream. With Dhurandhar, she’s now stepping into a much wider spotlight.

Connor has always been one of the more intriguing members of the team, so getting a full-blown dive into his past made for another compelling hour of The Librarians: The Next Chapter.
