The Ruse: new film from Malevolence director Stevan Mena gets an August VOD release
Image
Writer/director Stevan Mena made his feature debut with the 2003 film Malevolence. After making Brutal Massacre: A Comedy in 2007, Mena gave us a Malevolence prequel called Bereavement in 2010. In 2016, the third chapter in the series, Malevolence 3: Killer, had to be cancelled in the midst of production due to the death of lead actor Scott Decker. Over the next two years, Mena has found a way to complete the film, and it made its way out into the world in 2018. Now, our friends at Bloody Disgusting report that Mena’s fifth feature film, The Ruse, will be available for rental and purchase on VOD beginning Tuesday, August 14. You can watch the trailer in the embed above.

Described as a chilling whodunnit that keeps audiences on edge until the final frame, The Ruse follows Dale, a home health care worker sent to a remote seaside home after her predecessor mysteriously vanishes.

Killer aka Malevolence 3: Killer Sets its Sights on a Halloween Season Release: First Trailer
Stevan Mena's Malevolence trilogy will close out with Killer aka Malevolence 3: Killer. This third film follows Malevolence (2003) and Bereavement (2010); Bereavement was a prequel to Malevolence. Production on this third film was held up, due to the tragic death of actor Scott Decker. However, Killer is expected to release this October, on home entertainment platforms. The film's poster artwork and release trailer are hosted here. This indie film fan remembers hearing of some of the difficulties behind this third production. Director Mena has stated earlier about this title and the challenges of its completion: "it was difficult to continue after Scott’s tragic death." Though, the show must go on as they say. Mena finished with: "but so many good people worked very hard on this film...through some creative rewrites, additional casting, and the crew agreeing to take a deferred salary, we were able to not only complete...

Parody Video: The Walking Dead Christmas Special
The Walking Dead takes a mid-season break during the holidays, but does it really have to? We’re assuming that Rick’s group finds some time to celebrate holidays or a special occasion during their zombie killing downtime, and Jason Inman imagines a world where The Walking Dead Christmas Special is a reality.

The short was directed and written by Jason Inman, who also stars as Rick. Other cast members include Chris Chapman as Daryl, Daniel Kim as Glenn, Dave Pereyra as Hershel, Chrissy Lynn as Maggie, Tom Haggard as Merle, Carshenah Jefferson as Michonne, Chris Dorman as The Governor, and Nick Bishop as Carl. The zombies are played by Jerry Ahern, Scott Decker, Jo Shaw, Sean Hewitt, and Christina Cannon.

Who Will Romance Megan Hunt?
It's not a bad week to be Jamie Bamber.

First, it was announced that the former Battlestar Galactica actor would appear next month as a Patient of the Week on House. Now, TV Line also confirms that Bamber will soon make a personal appointment with Dr. Megan Hunt... if you know what we mean!

Bamber has been cast of Body of Proof as Scott Decker, a love interest for Dana Delany’s medical examiner. Look for this character to be of the blue collar variety, to debut next month and to be featured on three episodes.

Body of Proof Exclusive: Battlestar Galactica's Jamie Bamber to Romance Dana Delany

It looks like Dr. Megan Hunt’s personal life suddenly has a pulse.

Sources confirm to TVLine exclusively that Battlestar Galactica vet Jamie Bamber is joining the cast of ABC’s Body of Proof as a love interest for Dana Delany’s medical examiner.

His character, Scott Decker, is described as a blue collar and (duh) sexy. I’m told Bamber is on board for at least three episodes, the first of which is slated to air in late November.

As TVLine just reported, Bamber is also set to guest star as a patient with a big secret in the Nov.
