When it came to making her comedy debut, Salma Hayek was more than happy to put her faith in Adam Sandler‘s latest film, Grown Ups.

“I said yes to this movie at the beginning just because I am an Adam Sandler fan and I really liked the script, and I am glad now this is my first big comedy,” the actress tells The Vancouver Sun.

“You want movies your children can watch, and also that your children can have fun with, and enjoy the experience of shooting it.”

And according to Hayek, that goal was met — and surpassed!

"(I Haven't Been Able to Get No) Satisfaction" from most of the current crop of American Idol finalists over the past three weeks. Oscar winner Forest Whitaker is nearing a deal to headline CBS' in-the-works spin-off of Criminal Minds, sources confirm to me semi-exclusively. Whitaker would play Cooper, the new team's fiercely loyal and intensely private leader. A former star profiler in the Bau, Coop's been off the grid for the last eight years — leaving only a trail of rumors in his wake. Minds 2.0 will follow the NCIS/NCIS: La model in that the new team will be introduced in an episode of Minds this spring before being launched into their own show next fall. Seasoned industry professionals like myself refer to it as a "planted" spin-off.

Gena Rowlands is headed to NCIS, and she's bringing a world of pain with her. Sources confirm to me exclusively that the three-time Emmy winner has been cast in the potentially recurring role of Joann, Gibbs' intelligent, upscale mother-in-law. As exec producer Shane Brennan recently told me, the character's arrival will shed light on Gibbs' past, unleashing a wave of heartache, anger and blame in the process.
