Ari Zagaris
- Actor
Ari Zagaris is a recent transplant to Los Angeles from his hometown
neighborhood of the Haight/Ashbury in San Francisco. The son of model
Kristin Sundbom and sports/ rock'n'roll photographer Michael Zagaris,
Ari spent most of his childhood following his father around from the
clubhouse of the Oakland A's to the backstage dressing room of The
Clash. As a result, his life was a wash of sports and the arts and Ari
spent most of his childhood trying to decide whether his life would be
spent on the stage or on the playing field. In high school he had to
choose between baseball and the arts. Thanks to a heavy sinker and a
nasty forkball, baseball won out and the arts were put on hold until a
later date. Despite being unable to perform in any school productions,
Ari managed to squeeze in classes at A.C.T. before leaving for college
on a baseball scholarship. Even while attending The George Washington
University, Ari continued to indulge his passion for film, spending
most of his free time in the drama department and writing screenplays.
Directly after graduating from GW with a BA in Communication, Ari was
signed by the Boston Red Sox. While theater and film still ruled his
heart, he spent the next few months pitching for the Sox in the minor
leagues. After being released by the club, Ari was determined to focus
the rest of his life to the craft he had juggled since birth.Ari is a
truly versatile actor who's working his way to becoming one of
Hollywood's busiest new talents. Tall, with thick eyebrows and an
ever-present hangdog countenance, Ari has always remained interested in
pursuing offbeat, even eccentric projects. In his lighter performances,
the quirky, lanky actor combines relaxed, naturalistic dialogue
delivery with impeccable comic timing. In his darker roles Ari is often
seen as a rugged, sullen looking leading man with cynical fatalistic
outlooks and anti-hero charisma. In the brief moments when he's not in
front of the camera, Ari can be found at the nearest baseball diamond
reliving his dreams of sports stardom.
