Tribune taps Reardon as b'cast CEO
Tribune Co. said Thursday that it has named John Reardon president and CEO of its broadcasting group. In addition, John Vitanovec has been promoted to executive vp. In his new position, Reardon will oversee the company's 26 television stations, Superstation WGN, WGN Radio and Tribune Entertainment. He replaces Patrick Mullen, who resigned as Tribune Broadcasting president last month. Reardon and Vitanovec have been with Tribune for more than 20 years, most recently serving as group vps since March 2004. The promotions are effective immediately.

Mullen exits b'cast post at Tribune
Tribune Broadcasting president Patrick Mullen has resigned after less than three years in the post. Tribune Co. said Friday that a successor to head its broadcasting group will be named at a later date but gave no reason for Mullen's departure. Mullen has been with Tribune for nearly eight years. He joined the company in 1998 when it acquired WXMI-TV in Grand Rapids, Mich., where he was vp and general manager.
