‘Chasity Bites’ Review
Stars: Allison Scagliotti, Francia Raisa, Louise Griffiths, Eduardo Rioseco, Chloë Crampton, Amy Okuda, Sarah Stouffer, Lindsey Morgan, Laura Niemi, Diana Chiritescu | Written by Lotti Pharriss Knowles | Directed by John V. Knowles

Chasity Bites is a film that has been on my radar for quite some time; ever since I saw the awesome poster designed by Rebel Rouser artist and illustrator Nathan Thomas Milliner for the films screening at the Dances With Films festival way back in June 2013. Of course it’s been over 18 months since then and all has gone quite… Or so I thought. Thankfully independent UK distributors Safecracker Pictures have seen fit to debut the film – on VOD, followed by a DVD release in a couple of months – here in Blighty.

First off, having finally sat down and watched the film, can someone tell me why I never realised it starred one of my favourite actresses, Alison Scagliotti,...

Fame Academy: David Sneddon, Alistair Griffin - Where are they now?
Fame Academy may only have lasted two series, but boy, did it burn bright. And even though it was over ten years ago that it was on our screens, we're still belting out David Sneddon's utter tune 'Stop Living The Lie' at our DS karaoke sessions.

But the news of series two's Alistair Griffin teaming up with Kimberley Walsh for a Tour de France single got us thinking - what happened to all of our favourite Fame Academy contestants? Well, here's what we could find out about 16 of the students over both series...

Series One

Ashley House

Ashley might have been eliminated in week one of Fame Academy (the shame) but he's not let that little disappointment hold him back. He went on to guest star in an episode of Cbbc's Mi: High... look, we promise, this gets better. He's now a sports presenter who helped launch Arsenal TV,...

#Sdcc 2013: Exclusive Artwork - Chastity Bites
Two new one-sheets for the latest flick from John V. Knowles, Chastity Bites, have arrived featuring artwork by illustrator Tim Seeley. Check 'em out!

From the Press Release

In celebration of San Diego Comic-Con 2013 (Sdcc 2013), Weirdsmobile Productions is thrilled to unleash exclusive Chastity Bites character art inspired by the feminist, ‘girl-powered’ heroine of the film Leah, played by Allison Scagliotti (“Warehouse 13’), and her virgin blood-obsessed arch nemesis Liz, played by Louise Griffiths (“The Revenant”). Created by comic book artist Tim Seeley of “Hack/Slash” fame, these designs sparked a unique collaboration between Team Chastity Bites and the popular artist after finding out about all-Geek podcast/radio show Fandom Planet’s campaign to encourage the producers of the “Hack/Slash” movie to cast Scagliotti in the lead role of Cassie (hashtag: #AllisonScag4Cassie).

Says producer and screenwriter Lotti Pharriss Knowles, "Tim Seeley obviously loves genre material and strong female characters as much as we do,...

DVD Review: The Revenant (R1, Lionsgate)
The Revenant

Stars: David Anders, Chris Wylde, Louise Griffiths, Jacy King | Written and Directed by Kerry Prior

Revenant – One who returns from the dead in corporeal form.

Dying sucks. I mean, think about it. You cease to exist, and all the beautiful things in life can never be seen again. You become worm food, a permanent resident taking up real estate six feet under. But what if, and those are some powerful words, what if you didn’t have to stay dead? What if you could come back and be immortal, for lack of a better word? It’s not something to be taken lightly and in the wrong hands, it can go bad for everyone involved. How would you use that power? And therein lies the central idea of The Revenant.

We follow the story of Bart Gregory, a soldier “killed to death in a gunfight,” while on patrol in Iraq.

Chris Wylde and David Anders in The Revenant (2009)
Movie Reviews: “The Revenant”
Chris Wylde and David Anders in The Revenant (2009)
The Revenant

Starring: David Anders, Chris Wylde, Louise Griffiths, Jacy King Written, Directed and Produced by Kerry Prior

The Revenant has been kicking around for awhile (IMDb lists it at a 2009 film), running the festival circuit and refusing to die like its main character. That journey ends today, as it finally earns a limited release in a few select cities, as well as being made available on video on demand. If you want to know whether you should spend the money to see it, should you have the chance, the answer is an unequivocal yes.

In this new age where we’re flooded by zombies, vampires and werewolves (oh my!) in every pop culture outlet possible, it takes a unique and cunning vision to make one of so many stand out. And Kerry Prior, a special FX wizard on such varied films from The Lost Boys to Air Force One to The Blob and Phantasm,...

Review: The Revenant
After a three-year wait, festival favorite The Revenant finally hits theaters today in a limited release that includes Austin. Director D. Kerry Prior won the Best Director Award at Fantastic Fest in 2009 (my podcast interview). At the time Prior mentioned he still had the challenge of securing distribution for his feature as well as finalizing visual effects. After a successful festival run, Prior re-cut portions of The Revenant to tighten up this dark comedy. The final cut enhances the darkness of this genre-defying film while ensuring its placement in the hall of "must-see" movies of the undead nature.

The Revenant centers around Bart Gregory (David Anders), a soldier who is killed in Iraq during a nighttime ambush. Bart is laid to rest as his best friend Joey (Chris Wylde) and girlfriend Janet (Louise Griffiths) mourn his death ... only it turns out that Bart isn't done with living. He reunites with Joey,...

The only person Bart can turn to for answers is his best friend Joey (Wylde), and before long the two pals have surmised that blood is life. In order to survive, Bart requires a steady supply of it.

Feasting on Friends with The Revenant: A Movie Review
Director/writer: D. Kerry Prior. Cast: David Anders, Louise Griffiths, Jacy King, and Chris Wylde. Tagline: "The only thing worse than having your best friend die is having him come back." While watching D. Kerry Prior's The Revenant, this reviewer is reminded of another zombie buddy movie titled Deadheads. In both films, two friends have to deal with becoming undead. Deadheads is more of a road trip comedy, while The Revenant is a darker thriller. Both films tell tales of a friend trying to help another with elements of romance on the periphery. As more background, The Revenant was completed in 2009 and despite winning several awards, this title has experienced some delays in reaching the public. Lionsgate has picked up this title for an September release and fans of zombie thrillers and comedies will want to shamble out to their local Redbox to feed on this title at home.

The Revenant Review
Alright, I have to ask – Why do so many fantastic films get caught in studio limbo while utter garbage is seemingly churned out on a daily basis? Why did it take three long years of anticipation before I could get my hands on a copy of Kerry Prior’s The Revenant? In 2009 alone, Prior demolished the New York City Horror Film Festival by winning Best Director, having both David Anders and Chris Wylde tie for Best Actor, scoring the Audience Choice Award, and finished by capturing Best Feature honors. Yet a film like Area 407 got a full featured release first?!

Well, after a three-year wait I was finally given a chance to see what all the hoopla was about, and boy can I say the wait was worth it. Horror fans everywhere, heed my recommendation and add Prior’s film to your must see list immediately, you’ll thank yourself afterward.

The Revenant

Bart (Anders), a soldier serving in Iraq, wakes up the morning after his own funeral, to find he’s not only still alive but has been resurrected as a revenant, or one who has returned from the dead… Unable to ignore his new-found thirst for blood, Bart knows that there is one person in his life whom he can rely on for help: his slacker best friend Joey (Wylde). Although Joey seems to have painlessly moved on in life, friends are friends and Bart is enthusiastically welcomed back, even as a zombie that needs to drink blood to stop the decomposition of his body. The best friend duo quickly realise Bart’s zombie-fied state is a perfect opportunity for them to become vigilante crime fighters, and they soon begin killing the city’s...

'The Revenant' - Movie Review
by Marcey Papandrea, MoreHorror.com

There is only one possible way I can start off this review – I Loved This Film! The Revenant is one of the most fun and also unique films I have had the pleasure of watching this year. I don’t hide the fact I love my horror (obviously otherwise I wouldn’t be writing for this amazing site), and I have a tendency to seek out different films. I also like to go in as blind as possible, I prefer to know as little as possible when I dive into a film. This really is the way to go with this film -- leave all expectations behind and just sit back and enjoy the ride.

I’ll try not to spoil too much here, so I will give a vague description of the plot. A soldier Bart, who gets killed in Iraq comes back from...

The Revenant is Sinking His Teeth into Lightning Entertainment and Film Goers at Cannes
The Revenant is a "zomb-edy" (Lightning) from director Kerry Prior (Roadkill). Currently, at the Cannes Film Festival, The Revenant has recently been picked up by Lightning Entertainment for international sales; if only they would pick up this undead romp for Norte Americano. Recently, The Revenant had a makeover and the gorrific results can be seen in this new poster art (seen left).

The tagline states: "keeping the streets of L.A. safe for the undead," as the city of angels is bathed in burning light. With Lightning showing interest, hopefully this film is one shambling step closer to finding a domestic release date. More bloody details are below.

A plot overview for The Revenant is below:

"This breakout horror comedy centers around a fallen soldier who somehow finds he has joined the ranks of the living dead. Bart Gregory (Anders) has just recently been laid to rest - so why...

Indie Horror Month - Exclusive: Jacy Gross Talks The Revenant
Undoubtedly, the heart and soul of The Revenant are best friends Bart (David Anders) and Joey (Chris Wylde) but as the saying goes, for every good man there’s an equally good woman (or two in this instance) behind them. Balancing out the testosterone on the set of the film were actresses Jacy Gross and Louise Griffiths.

We recently had the opportunity to catch up with Gross, who plays level headed Wiccan Mathilda in the film who also serves as the film’s voice of reason, to talk about her experiences on the film and discuss the challenges of working in independent cinema.

Gross had a hunch from the start that collaborating with writer/director Kerry Prior would be unlike anything she had experienced ever in her career.

“The producers for The Revenant (review here) really had their choice when it came to actresses for my part so I felt...

Indie Horror Month - Exclusive: Chris Wylde Talks Bromance and Zombies in The Revenant
In 2009 I had the pleasure of checking out The Revenant during the Screamfest Film Festival. Directed by Kerry Prior, the film stars David Anders, Chris Wylde, Jacy Gross, and Louise Griffiths and is centered around Bart (Anders), a soldier who is killed overseas in Iraq. On the night of his funeral back in the States, Bart awakens in his grave as a revenant (think zombie with vampire tendencies so he sleeps all day) and seeks out assistance from his best friend, Joey, as he adapts to his strange new life.

With hints of Shaun of the Dead and The Signal, I was immediately impressed with Prior’s gritty but often humorous take on the zombie subgenre with The Revenant (review here). Since I hadn’t heard any updates on the project in a few months, I thought it was time we caught up with some of the film’s key...

Fantasia 2010: Kerry Prior's The Revenant
The horror/comedy isn't a tough sell; audiences love to laugh while watching blood spatter and limbs fly through the air. Well, audiences who attend festivals like Fantasia, anyway. The horror part of the equation is easy. It's the comedy part that usually falls flat or is out of balance with the horror elements. Few entries into the canon over the past couple of years come to mind; after Shaun of the Dead and Zombieland, there just haven't been very many horror comedies with mass appeal. Until The Revenant, that is. Writer/director Kerry Prior (Roadkill) has come up with a buddy flick that manages to be a touching treatise on frendship while also offering up spot-on social commentary about life in Los Angeles. The fact that one of the buddies is a recently deceased Iraq war veteran who has inexplicably come back from the dead and turned to his...

Zombie Thriller The Revenant to Shock Fantasia July 12th
The Revenant Movie StillThe Revenant is a zombie inspired comedy from first time director Kerry Prior. A special effects technician by trade, Prior breaks the mold by inventing a "jam-packed...urban decadence, [with] perverse gore, and outrageously ghoulish humour" (Fantasia). This film will have a Montreal premiere at Fantasia 2010 and fans of the gritty, or the shocking can have a look at the film at Fantasia below.

The synopsis for The Revenant here;

The Revenant is a story about an ancient pestilence recurring to infect modern society. Officer first class Bart Gregory is killed while fighting in the Middle East. His body is shipped back to the United States and laid to rest, but before the lid can be put on this tomb, Bart inexplicably awakens in his coffin and climbs from his grave. He is confused, horrified, a moldy, putrefying living corpse - a revenant" (The Revent).

Release Date: July...

Fantastic Fest 2009: The Revenant
The Revenant Directed by Kerry Prior Undead horror has had an unprecedented revival in recent years. Zombie fever has proved surprisingly resilient, and this recent vampire craze shows no signs of abating. It's easy to become cynical about the sheer amount of zombie and vampire entertainment going into production, but amidst the glut of sub-par cash-ins, some inspiringly original films have managed to find an audience. The Revenant, if there's any justice in this world, will be one of them. The film opens at our protagonist Bart's (David Anders) funeral, where distressed family and friends gather to mourn. In attendance is the central cast: loud-mouth best friend  Joey (Chris Wylde), girlfriend Janet (Louise Griffiths), and Janet's friend (and Wicca) Matti (Jacy King). The three share some drinks, Janet and Joey share a night of passionate remorse, and Bart wakes up in his coffin. The film that follows is hard to categorize.

Review: The Revenant
This film was reviewed as part of Fantastic Fest Plot: When Bart (David Anders) is killed in Iraq and his body shipped back to the United States for burial, he doesn.t stay dead for long. He comes back as a revenant . a zombie that requires blood for survival. Instead of approaching his once future bride Janet (Louise Griffiths) about his unique predicament, he instead approaches his slacker, slightly unhinged best friend Joey (Chris Wylde). What happens next is an escalating series of...

Fantastic Fest 09: Review of The Revenant
Year: 2009

Directors: D. Kerry Prior

Writers: D. Kerry Prior

Review by: rochefort

Rating: 7 out of 10

Day Three of my 2009 Fantastic Fest marathon ended with "The Revenant", Kerry Prior's horror/comedy buddy movie, one that's been picking up a lot of buzz and awards lately. I had very little foreknowledge of the overall story, and ended up liking it quite a bit. It's a genuinely fun movie that goes in a new direction or two

When we first see Bart (David Anders), he's a body in a coffin, a soldier recently killed in Iraq. His best friend Joey (Chris Wylde), girlfriend Janet (Louise Griffiths), and her best friend Mathilda (Jacy King) are still coping the night of the funeral when Bart rises from the grave. Reeking, disoriented, and decomposing, Bart heads to Joey's house to try and figure out how he's cheated death, and Joey's ensuing...

The Revenant (Film Review)
For a critic like me, who is not only a serious lover of horror but of films in general, watching The Revenant is a genuine pleasure. Written and directed by Phantasm sequel FX wizard D. Kerry Prior, the film—which had its Canadian premiere at the Toronto After Dark Film Festival this past Sunday after a spirited Zombie Walk up Bathurst Street—has been enjoying much International fest love this year, winning awards and picking up a cult of fans. And rightfully so: This is a brilliant, sophisticated horror/comedy that manages to play within a familiar framework while deftly defying clichés at every turn.

Iraq war vet Bart (Heroes’ David Anders) returns from the East in a body bag, much to the dismay of his girlfriend Janet (Louise Griffiths) and slovenly best friend Joey (Chris Wylde, channeling Michael Keaton). But although the picture begins at Bart’s funeral and...

Phantasm sphere man directs The Revenant; exclusive photos
Kerry Prior, the FX artist who created the silver sphere and other FX for the Phantasm sequels, gave us the scoop and some exclusive pics (see ’em below) from his new writing/directing vehicle, The Revenant. The horror/black comedy, Prior’s second feature after 1996’s Roadkill, is currently in postproduction.

“The Revenant is based on what I think of as ‘pre-fictional’ vampire folklore—meaning legends from the 17th and 18th centuries, before the vampire was popularized in fiction and movies,” Prior tells Fango. “The story is about Bart Gregory, who is killed in the Iraq war and his body shipped home. He rises from the dead, of course, and solicits the help of his friend Joey Leubner to try and figure out what’s going on. They have to figure out how to procure blood to keep Bart from rotting, which is the thrust of the story.

“We have some great actors,...

Christina Ricci is Going to the Renaissance Faire
It's the movie that just keeps on going -- just like its subject matter on a 109 degree summer's day. The Hollywood Reporter says that Ye Olde Times, which saw Jack Black and Lindsay Lohan visiting the Ren Faire has now been revamped into All's Faire in Love. It lost Black and Lohan along the way, but it's aquired Christina Ricci, Owen Benjamin, Cedric the Entertainer, Bill Engvall, and Nadine Velazquez.

The plot sounds as though it has gone an overhaul as well -- the story is now centered on Benjamin, whose shiny new drama degree has landed him a job with a Renaissance Faire theater troupe. Reduced to being their fetch boy, he meets a Faire virgin played by Ricci. That's a virgin to the Renaissance Faire, not the Shakesperean sense of "a faire virgin." But his swashbuckling colleagues aim to disrupt his budding romance.

Cedric is taking the role of Professor Shockworthy,...

Ricci, Benjamin in for ‘Faire in Love’
Christina Ricci, Owen Benjamin, Bill Engvall, Nadine Velazquez and Cedric the Entertainer are set to join Scott Marshall’s upcoming comedy “All’s Faire in Love,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Benjamin, who recently starred in “The House Bunny,” will play a drama school grad who becomes the fetch boy for his new Renaissance theater group. Things seem to improve when he meets a Faire virgin (Ricci), although his colleagues threaten to interrupt their romance.

Also on board are Ann-Margret, Louise Griffiths and Matthew Lillard. Marshall is directing a script by Robert A. White.

Originally, the film was titled “Ye Olde Times,” with Jack Black attached to star as a professor. Black’s role is now in the hands of Cedric the Entertainer.

Ricci recently starred in “Speed Racer.” She will next be seen in “New York, I Love You.” Engvall’s most recent big-screen appearance was “Delta Farce,” while...
