Eiichiro Oda Used Cruel Irony to Turn Luffy Into the Perfect Shonen Protagonist
Image
Ever since One Piece started serialization, Luffy has been carrying the tag of the most unique protagonist in the history of the Shonen genre. From his goofy personality to his carefree attitude, every aspect of his development in One Piece makes fans fall in love with him even more, and the biggest contributor to this is his relationship with his crew.

From Zoro to Jinbe, Luffy has been a part of every crewmate’s journey, and he has helped them through their struggles no matter what. In fact, there are literal arcs that show Luffy going to extreme lengths just to save his nakama and bring them back as a member of the Straw Hat Pirates.

However, what makes him even more special is the fact that he suffers through his struggles alone. Eiichiro Oda has made sure that Luffy doesn’t have someone to share his pain, which in...

10 Shonen Rivalries That Give Vegeta and Goku a Run for Their Money
Image
Few rivalries in Shonen anime are as iconic as the rivalry between Goku and Vegeta. The two Saiyans from Dragon Ball have a bond that blends mutual respect with intense competition. Their dynamic is rooted in pride and strength, and sets a high bar for all other rivalries.

There are, however, a few other rivalries in Shonen that can surpass this legendary rivalry in emotional depth, complexity, dynamics, and even entertainment. Here are 10 Shonen rivalries (in no particular order) that can give Goku and Vegeta a run for their money.

Can’t talk about Shonen rivalries without bringing up Naruto and Sasuke. The duo’s dynamic from Naruto is ever-evolving and is currently based on a profound blend of friendship, betrayal, and redemption. The reason we believe this rivalry triumphs over...

‘One Piece’ Has Its Own Version of Itachi Uchiha
Image
One of the most devastating flashbacks in the history of One Piece, Kuma’s backstory has finally reached its conclusion with episode 1136. Toei Animation broke every boundary with its portrayal of Kuma’s heartbreaking story, and the ending was a masterful adaptation of how Eiichiro Oda designed the character development of the One Piece tyrant.

Episode 1136 had an intriguing aspect from the flashback that has earned Kuma the same respect as Itachi Uchiha from Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto. The story has confirmed that every action Kuma took against the Straw Hat Pirates and Luffy in particular was in their favor. In fact, his entire villainy during the first half of the series was a mirror of his sacrifice.

It might be a bold statement, but there is a very big possibility that without Kuma’s aid, the Straw Hat Pirates couldn’t have reached the level where they are today in One Piece.

One Piece: Every Possible Final Battle Between the Straw Hat Pirates and Blackbeard’s Crew
Image
As One Piece nears the climactic end, the showdown between the Straw Hats and the Blackbeard Pirates seems inevitable, especially with the recent revelations about Blackbeard being the son of the legendary Rocks D. Xebec.

Blackbeard is one of the primary antagonists of the story, and this would undoubtedly pit his crew against Luffy’s. With both crews being narrative opposites of each other, One Piece fans have long speculated on the matchups, and we are here to throw in our two cents.

This one is obvious, isn’t it? Luffy’s fight against Teach will be One Piece’s ultimate showdown. Their battle will be a result of their differing ideals and opposing personalities. We’ve seen this right from Blackbeard’s introduction when he and Luffy argued about the taste of a Cherry Pie.

One Piece: Toei Animation Hates One Straw Hat Pirate Worse Than Sanji
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains One Piece Manga spoilers.

After Sanji, it’s time to wonder if Studio Toei Animation has a gripe with Usopp. Over the years, Usopp has changed significantly in terms of both character design and overall characterization in One Piece. While that’s normal, the complete shift in his skin tone has caught fans’ attention. All the characters grew more pale post time skip, but Usopp didn’t stop there.

From Fishman Island Arc to Egghead, he has grown whiter with every arc. If we compare him to his Syrup Village counterpart, he’s almost unrecognizable. This change doesn’t necessarily impact the narrative, but it dampens the experience. Considering his role in Elbaf in the manga, it’s safe to assume that he’s getting the shortest end of the stick at present.

5 Ways ‘One Piece’ Challenges Shonen Power Systems
Image
One Piece has redefined several Shonen norms over the years. One of the many things it has redefined is power systems. While most manga rely on rigid hierarchies, One Piece uses creativity and depth to balance its power systems.

Unlike series such as Bleach, where power often escalates through linear strength gains, One Piece’s power system is more dynamic and subverts shonen conventions. Here are five key ways in which One Piece redefines Shonen power systems and stands out in the genre.

1. Devil Fruits and Their Quirky Nature Luffy announces his Gear 4 form | Credits: Toei Animation

Devil Fruits are at the heart of One Piece‘s power system. These fruits, when consumed, grant wildly unique abilities to the ones who consume them, while also making them retch because of how bad they taste. Jokes aside, the abilities these fruits grant are wild and allow for some creative powers.

Every ‘One Piece’ Arc Ranked From Worst to Best
Image
For almost three decades, the One Piece franchise has been ruling the anime and manga industry with its eccentric storyline of a young pirate who wishes to achieve the most powerful treasure in history. Along the way, he has made a bunch of friends from different parts of the world who, more or less, have helped him get close to his goal and will continue to do so until the end.

The only problem with this is that his journey has been extended for quite a long time, generating 11 sagas and 33 arcs. These arcs and sagas have been divided into 1,100+ chapters and episodes, the quality of which is decided according to the story and character development that goes on within the narrative.

Thus, ranking them and finding out which is the best One Piece story arc is certainly a challenging task. For this reason, we have created a ranking of...

The “first true One Piece arc” Is Also Its Most Under Appreciated
Image
Over its 1,000-plus chapters, fans have always debated on the best arc in One Piece, and names like Enies Lobby, Marineford, and Wano dominate the conversation. But long before these massive, world-building events, there was one arc that truly revealed what this anime was capable of producing.

We are talking about the Baratie Arc. While this arc was overlooked as just Sanji’s backstory and how he became a member of Luffy’s crew, there was a lot of plot to it. This was the beginning of the epic world-building tactic that One Piece is famous for. The arc gave us glimpses of the Grand Line’s madness, like Mihawk’s strength and Zeff’s ultimate sacrifice. Baratie was not any random restaurant in the seas; it was the anime’s way of showing us what lies ahead.

It May Be Too Late if Eiichiro Oda Doesn’t Give Usopp an Upgrade Now
Image
From the early days of One Piece, Elbaf was confirmed to be Usopp’s arc. There was great anticipation to see how Eiichiro Oda would turn the fan-favorite sniper into a great warrior of the sea. Dressrosa skyrocketed the expectations, hinting at the Observation Haki potential wielded by God Usopp. As soon as Elbaf began, fans were ready to see that potential turn into actual skills and upgrades.

So far, the latest One Piece arc has been a letdown, especially for Usopp fans. The character hasn’t contributed much to the main events of the arc. Something similar happened with Zoro’s character arc in Wano. A repeat of that would be quite horrible, so it’s either now or too late for Usopp’s potential upgrades and power-ups.

The Straw Hat Pirates Are Yet to Discover a Treasure Just as Rare as the One Piece
Image
As usual, the Straw Hat pirates are on their quest to find the One Piece, and Luffy eventually wants to become the Pirate King. Both of these are the rarest of the rare achievements. The entire crew has achieved plenty of rare feats in the series.

They have saved multiple nations from slavery of extermination, have accommodated scary bounties under their names, and even punched Celestial Dragons, which is probably on the top of the wishlist of many pirates. Yet, the crew has never achieved one rare object in the world of One Piece.

Wit Studio Is Making Sure Even ‘One Piece’ Haters Won’t Miss Out on the New Remake

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is one of those anime stories that needs no introduction. The fame and recognition that it has earned in almost 30 years have been on a completely different level, and even today, it competes with the biggest names of the new era.

The One Piece franchise has evolved to the point where it is getting a reboot (The One Piece), despite the original series. This remake was announced by Wit Studios and Netflix in order to enhance the viewing experience of the original story, which was too stretched out, according to haters of the series.

It has received the blessing of the One Piece mangaka and will soon be available for streaming. The reboot will have a limited number of episodes, making sure that even haters can’t chastise it for its number of episodes.

One Piece Finally Acknowledges 1 Of Its Best Movies With A Surprising Easter Egg
Image
In a surprise twist, One Piecehas finally acknowledged the existence of one of its best movies, Strong World, with a surprising Easter egg. Strong World was created in celebration of the anime’s 10th anniversary, and with the great writing and animation, Eiichiro Oda himself writing the story, and Shiki being a canon villain, it remains one of the most popular One Piece films in the franchise.

One Piece Film: Strong World has always been popular with fans, and after 15 years, Eiichiro Oda has finally acknowledged it with a clever Easter egg. Ever since the beginning of the Elbaph arc, fans have noted how some of the animals on Elbaph resemble the animals featured in Strong World, and according to volume #112’s Sbs, Eiichiro Oda reworked the animals from One Piece Film: Strong World as natives of Elbaph. Granted, this still doesn’t make Strong World canon, but One Piecefinally...

One Piece: Roger Couldn’t Even Get His Crew Right Despite Being the King of the Pirates
Image
The most legendary crew in One Piece is arguably the Roger Pirates. Led by the Pirate King himself, they are amongst the strongest characters in their universe, while being a huge threat to the World Government. That being said, the way Roger selected their positions is quite unusual.

When Luffy selected his crewmates at One Piece’s start, he kept in mind what was essential for traveling across the Grand Line. Every choice he made might have been impulsive, but each Straw Hat has a very important role to play. That’s how most crews operate in One Piece, too.

Gol D. Roger, on the other hand, did not care about being conventional with his crew. Eiichiro Oda just revealed each member’s job, which makes us question Roger’s decisions.

One Piece: Jinbei Is the Only Straw Hat Pirate Missing a Hilarious Trait
Image
One Piece is a vibrant story that excels at delivering hilarious humour in the form of gags. Eiichiro Oda, the author of One Piece, has masterfully crafted every member of the Straw Hat Pirates with hilarious quirks that define their charm. From Zoro’s obsession with sleeping to Brook’s panty-loving antics, every Straw Hat has a comedic gag that defines them.

Jinbei, however, seems to be an anomaly. He is the only Straw Hat who lacks this hilarious trait. Knowing Oda-sensei, there is a possibility that his lack of a gag is his actual gag. Now that sounds like a fascinating possibility.

One Piece: Usopp Isn’t Just the Weakest Straw Hat Pirate But Also the Most Useless
Image
Every Straw Hat Pirate in One Piece has a specific goal as a member of the crew that they fulfill one way or another. Zoro is the perfect swordsman, Sanji is the best cook, Nami’s navigation skills are top-notch, Chopper is the most capable doctor, and there is no other musician like Brook.

However, there is one member who has been more or less useless in doing his duty and thus has also been titled as the weakest Straw Hat pirate. This character is none other than Usopp, the sniper of the crew. While Usopp has seen some upgrades as a character, it has not been reflected in his skills for a long time.

He should ideally fulfill his responsibility of targeting enemies from a distance, but he is often seen at the front lines. The reason behind this is that it highlights his cowardly gag, which has now...

JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure Hides a Standout Quality of ‘One Piece’ Characters
Image
Talking about anime fashion, the first title that comes to people’s minds is JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, or maybe even Bleach for some people. And this is quite understandable, given how extravagant the character outfits are in JoJo. There are even big fashion brands that are solely dedicated to making exclusive JoJo suits, which are not only regular anime merchandise but are actually straight-up fire.

However, when it comes to modern eccentric fashion that you might even see in fashion shows and the Met Gala, many might be overlooking it, but it’s One Piece that got their game right. For some reason, One Piece doesn’t get praised enough, even though it has by far the most out-of-the-box fashion sense for each character. But why is that so? Why is it so hard to choose between JoJo and One Piece fashion?

The recent spoilers for One Piece chapter 1152 have finally introduced the moment fans have been waiting for since the beginning of the Elbaph arc. The spoilers revealed that Luffy has invited Loki to join the Straw Hat Pirates as the tenth member of the crew, which was anticipated long ago.

The majority of One Piece fans believe that Loki joining the crew would be the best thing, as it will make them even more powerful. However, once Loki becomes a part of the Straw Hat Pirates, things might not work in the favor of their captain.

This is because Loki’s achievements as a character that have been revealed in One Piece are quite overwhelming. There is a possibility that he might overshadow Luffy’s growth and steal the limelight.

One Piece Chapter 1152: Luffy Will Convince Loki to Become the 10th Straw Hat Pirate and I Know Why

Every One Piece fan knows about Luffy’s dream of assembling a crew of ten pirates. Throughout One Piece, Luffy has made a ton of friends, and he has gotten nine of them to join his crew, the Straw Hat Pirates. So far, we have Zoro, Nami, Usopp, Sanji, Chopper, Robin, Franky, Brook, and Jinbe.

Every arc, we choose a candidate who we speculate can become the tenth member of the crew, but none of them have joined the crew. I am one of the people who wanted Carrot to join, but now I’m all about Loki. After reading Chapter 1152 of One Piece and seeing Luffy’s determination to recruit him, I am convinced that Loki will become the Tenth Straw Hat.

One Piece: Loki’s True Identity May Be Exactly Why He Cannot Become the 10th Straw Hat Pirate

The chokehold One Piece has on us, anime fans, is indisputable. It’s a cult favorite series after all. But that doesn’t mean it is exempt from any controversies or backlash.

One Piece Fans Are Missing Oda’s ‘Uglier, Rougher’ Pre Time-Skip Designs
Image
Alright, real talk: remember how the One Piece characters looked before that time skip? Like when Shanks had that massive nose, Sanji had that “I haven’t slept in years” expression, and Zoro had that “I just rolled out of bed and might punch you” vibe? Those designs were gritty, raw, and kinda ugly in the best way possible, and One Piece fans are missing them big time.

We’re not saying Oda’s art is terrible now, but somewhere along the line, everything just became a bit too sleek. Too clean. Too pretty. And not in some “Zoro just crawled out of the sea with swords drawn” sort of pretty. We mean that the rough pirate edge is fading, and fans are feeling the loss.

One Piece: Oda Has a Massive Haki Problem in the Story That Continues a Frustrating Shonen Trend
Image
Spoiler Alert !!!This article contains the spoilers for One Piece chapter 1152.

The brief summary spoilers for One Piece chapter 1152 have finally revealed Gaban’s secret behind his ability to stop the regeneration powers of the God’s Knights, who have wreaked havoc on Elbaph. These regenerative abilities were the biggest disadvantage that Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates had to face since the Egghead Island arc.

According to the spoilers, an improved version of the Conqueror’s Haki is the key to stopping the God’s Knights from regenerating, which means only Luffy and Zoro can use this new power-up. However, the fact that Haki has once again become the center of it all poses a big issue that is quite common within different Shonen projects.

The issue is the inability to provide variety in terms of power-ups for the characters within the story. This trend has been followed by...

Forget Chopper, One Piece Character Heavily Rumored to Be the 10th Straw Hat Needs a Zoan Devil Fruit Awakening

One Piece: After Gaban’s Zoro Revelation, I Really Can’t Stand the Mihawk Slander Anymore

The scale of events is too great to bring down the focus to one character at a time. Yet, I am desperate to see if Elbaph is indeed Usopp’s arc. After all, that’s what most of us believed and hoped for. Elbaph is up in flames, the giants have turned into demons, and even Gaban has fallen down.

While Robin is choosing to fight despite realizing the difference between the Holy Knights and herself, I wish it had been Usopp. Elbaph has always been important to him, so seeing him turn to the sidelines is a bit disappointing. However, it might be time for him to take on a different role that’s more fitting for him and gives him the time to shine.

Usopp’s dream and...

5 Strongest Military Forces of One Piece, Ranked
Image
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is a sprawling epic with amazing characters and fantastic powers. While the story spreads the message of friendship and camaraderie, no one can deny that might shapes the seas in the story. Several military factions operate in One Piece, and each of these helps drive the narrative toward its final saga.

Which one of these is the strongest, though? Perhaps it’s the Yonko. Or maybe the Revolutionary Army? Here are five organizations that stand out for their strength, influence, and impact.

Now, this might be a controversial start to the list, but when we take into account the following factors: manpower, presence, impact, and influence, the Cipher Pol comes in fifth. The Cipher Pol, particularly the...

Wit Studio’s One Piece Remake Has a Major Update and It’s Kinda Ironic if You Think About It
Image
The One Piece franchise has been growing exponentially for the past few years, with new projects and developments taking place every year. From the live-action adaptation to international collaborations with global franchises, Eiichiro Oda’s masterpiece has truly proved itself to be one of the greatest works in the history of entertainment.

Among the many new projects, the one that fans were particularly excited about was the One Piece remake by popular Japanese animation studio, Wit Studios. Titled “The One Piece”, this remake was supposed to introduce a new portrayal of the wildly popular franchise with a different tone, pacing, and a new animation that would change the perspective towards the iconic anime.

The project recently received a new update, but it was not at all exciting for fans. According to the update, the One Piece remake will take some more time to get released. It truly reflects the irony...

Dragon Ball Live Action Should Forget Simu Liu for Goku and Consider These 5 Actors Instead
Image
The Dragon Ball series is a legacy series that has enthralled multiple generations of fans. The franchise has taken on many forms, keeping up with the trends, expectations, and evolving whenever needed. Dragon Ball has been wildly popular everywhere, from the manga to anime to theme parks and even parades. The only place it could be said to be lacking is with respect to live-action content.

Dragon Ball Evolution is not the best representation of the series. A new live-action could present the best that the series has to offer to the fans, but it would need a good actor to play Goku. Many fans have been clamoring for Simu Liu after Shang-Chi, but he isn’t the only one capable of pulling off an action series. This list will list five alternatives that can portray the Saiyan better than Liu in a live-action.

1. Ross Butler Ross Butler in 13 Reasons...

'He's Too Cool': One Piece's Original Anime Sanji Had Major Worries About Netflix Live-Action Actor
Image
Professional voice actor Hiroaki Hirata is perhaps best known for his role as Sanji in the original Japanese One Piece anime. After spending two-and-a-half decades getting to know the character inside and out, Hirata admitted that he was initially skeptical about Taz Skylar taking on the role in Netflix's live-action One Piece adaptation.

Initially released in August 2023, Netflix's One Piece stars Taz Skylar (Sanji), Mackenyu (Zoro), and Emily Rudd (Nami) alongside series' lead Inaki Godoy (Luffy) in a lively new rendition of Eiichiro Oda's classic shōnen. As a fellow Straw Hat, Sanji is responsible for keeping Luffy's crew well-fed on their adventures, and his charismatic personality has endeared him to millions of One Piece fans. During a recent interview with Anime News Network, Hirata shared his thoughts on Skylar after seeing him in costume as Sanji for the first time. "My first impression was, 'he's too cool..." He stated.

One Piece: Mackenyu’s Zoro Has a Major Problem That Only Real Fans Realize
Image
Alright, One Piece fans, let’s talk about something that’s been bugging a lot of fans, but not everyone is saying it out loud. Netflix’s live-action One Piece? It’s surprisingly great. Like, quite unexpectedly great. We were all kind of holding our breath, expecting it to be a complete disaster.

But it completely surprised us with incredible casting, incredible vibes, and a Luffy so lovable that even Oda himself gave it a thumbs-up. But hold on. We need to talk about Zoro. Yeah, Mackenyu looks like he just popped out of the manga, doesn’t he? With that green hair, all those swords, and the vibe. But something’s off. The more you get into the anime, or even if you’re just a few arcs in, you start to feel it. He’s too edgy.

When did Zoro become Sasuke with swords?

Look, Zoro from One Piece is not a joke.

One Piece: Is Kaku Still a Bad Guy?
Image
One Piece has plenty of heroes and villains, as well as characters who fall in the grey area. Kaku was first introduced as an antagonist and a member of the CP9, but it was soon pretty clear that he just acted out of duty and sheer professionalism.

Kaku’s character is very similar to that of Garp and Koby. He is duty-bound and does what it takes to complete his missions. But does that mean he should blindly follow an evil organisation? Does it make him a bad guy? Or just someone who is coping with the hands they have been dealt? Let’s find out!

Kaku has come a long way since the Water 7 arc. He has grown more powerful and has stolen the spotlight quite a few times, even though...

One Piece: Sanji’s Most Controversial Characteristic Has an Ironic Drawback
Image
Sanji from One Piece is the chef of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the wings of the future Pirate King, Monkey D. Luffy. He is a culinary prodigy and is well-known for his chivalry. His most infamous and polarizing trait, however, is his relentless flirtatiousness. The dude doesn’t know his limits and flirts with every female he lays his eyes on.

This attitude of his, while being a comedic gag, has sparked heated debates among fans. Sanji is often labeled as overly pervy, and it’s gotten to the point where it defines much of his personality. However, this One Piece character harbors an ironic twist. He becomes oblivious when presented with a genuine reciprocation of love (relatable). How does this irony add to his character, and does it make him…less creepy?

The controversy of Sanji’s pervy persona in One Piece Sanji tries to kiss...

The Strongest Attack in One Piece Yet: It’s Not Garp’s Galaxy Impact or Kaido’s Flame Bagua
Image
Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is full of explosive battles. These clashes between pirates, Marines, and Emperors shape the seas and are full of creative attacks. While a few of these attacks are meant to deal severe damage, a few others are used with the motive of restraining the opponent. The One Piece fan community often debates the most devastating attack in the series.

Sure, moves like Garp’s Galaxy Impact can destroy a large mountain, and Kaido’s Flame Bagua can scorch Luffy. Still, one attack eclipses them all: Conquest of the Sea, the attack unleashed by Big Mom and Kaido during the Onigashima Raid. This technique redefines destruction in the One Piece universe. Let’s see why this attack stands as the series’ strongest.

One Piece: Luffy Has Already Surpassed Shanks With His Most Fearsome Ability That’s Not Gear 5
Image
The various powers that characters can have in One Piece are terrifying and make fans more curious than they already are, especially with rare skills only a select few have. Luffy, as the protagonist, is equipped with most of them. The revelations are always a surprise to us, but none shocked us more than the Voice of All Things.

The Voice of All Things is an incredibly rare ability, even more so than Conqueror’s Haki. The first mention of it occurred in the Sabaody Arc by Silvers Rayleigh, explaining how Roger could “hear” the Poneglyphs.

Later in One Piece, there were hints Luffy had to it too, and it was confirmed when he heard Zunesha calling out for help. Does this ability make him more dangerous than Shanks?

The Voice of All Things could enhance Luffy’s perception of others in One Piece

As previously mentioned, we know barely...

Toei Animation Might Only Make ‘One Piece’s Pacing Worse
Image
As a fan of One Piece, I’ve enjoyed Luffy’s journey through the One Piece manga and Toei Animation’s anime adaptation with unwavering enthusiasm. The series is a cultural juggernaut, and I’m Suuuuperrr excited to be a part of this fandom. However, I cannot help but acknowledge the fact that the anime’s pacing has long been a point of contention.

The Dressrosa Arc is notorious for stretching chapters over multiple episodes, and while the Wano Arc promised a shift, it damaged the pacing further with its overcorrected nature. Toei’s animation was breathtaking, sure, but a single episode would adapt multiple manga chapters, causing the anime’s pace to match up to the manga’s.

As One Piece reaches its Final Saga, I’m growing concerned. The faster pace is setting One Piece up for a pacing crisis as it catches up to the manga, potentially...

Was It a Mistake From Oda: How Did Marco Hurt King in His Invincible Form When Zoro Couldn’t?
Image
Eiichiro Oda has introduced some extremely underrated characters in One Piece, and Marco is one of them. Fans often forget just how powerful the former 1st Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates actually is. The focus on the Straw Hats often diverts fans from understanding how powerful other characters can be.

During the Wano arc, Marco had a bout with King and Queen, two of the highest-ranking members of Kaido’s Beast Pirates. He had quite a few feats during the arc, including his fight with the All-Stars. But his clash with King has caused fans to question if he is really that powerful or if it was a mistake by Oda.

Oda Will Give Sanji a Second Germa Evolution That Rivals Zoro – One Piece Theory
Image
The rivalry between Zoro and Sanji has been one of the most intriguing developments for One Piece fans ever since they joined the Straw Hat Pirates. The two characters have a healthy competition between them to become stronger, and while it may be hard to accept this for Sanji fans, Zoro is currently winning this race in One Piece by a mile.

His growth in Wano and his constant training have helped him become one of the strongest swordsmen in the history of One Piece. He has reached a level where he can deal with attacks from two Emperors and also clash his swords with one of the Five Elders in One Piece.

However, this doesn’t mean that Eiichiro Oda has not planned anything for Sanji in the upcoming arcs. As both are equal rivals, there is a big possibility that the One Piece mangaka might give Sanji a...

Legendary One Piece Animator Vincent Chansard: “I had no plan to work in the industry”
Image
Once the One Piece fandom approves of you, you have half of the world on your side. Now, that might be an exaggeration, but Vincent Chansard must feel something akin to it. After all, he has millions of One Piece fans on his side due to his genius work on the anime. During an interview, the animator revealed something that would shock his fans.

Chansard has become synonymous with One Piece, but the animator initially didn’t even think of becoming a part of the Japanese animation industry. What makes this revelation so shocking is that the animator wasn’t even completely detached from the environment, yet the possibility never occurred to him. How is that even possible?

One Piece: Oda Quietly Silenced Zoro Fans With Scopper Gaban After Years of Sanji Slander
Image
For years, One Piece fans have been debating Zoro vs. Sanji like it’s the NBA Finals of anime arguments. You’ve got the Zoro fans flaunting his Conqueror’s Haki like the new Gucci belt, screaming “Right-hand Man Of The Pirate King!” every time Sanji takes a breath. Meanwhile, Sanji fans are just piling up losses in meme wars, even though the guy is literally carrying Whole Cake Island on his broken, bleeding back.

But now? Chapter 1149 of One Piece was just released, and Oda, bless this man, completely pulled off the slickest reverse card in fandom history. Scopper Gaban is back, and he’s everything Zoro fans thought Rayleigh and only Rayleigh could be. Oda didn’t just reintroduce a forgotten legend. He casually nuked a decade-long fan-held belief, and Sanji fans are dancing in the flames.

Gaban’s return in One Piece broke the Internet

Let’s take a step back.

‘One Piece’ Still Has an Upper Hand Against ‘Attack on Titan’ Winning the Global Impact Award

2025’s Crunchyroll Anime Awards shocked everyone by choosing Attack on Titan as the recipient of the first Global Impact Award, which, according to Crunchyroll, is given to those works that changed pop culture forever. While fans are okay with Attack on Titan receiving this honor, they can’t help but ask the question: Shouldn’t One Piece be the anime receiving the award according to the criteria?

Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is perhaps the most well-known anime of all time and has had the biggest impact on pop culture since its serialization. Despite Attack on Titan winning this time, One Piece still has an upper hand in terms of global impact.

Zoro’s One Piece Arc Isn’t Complete Until His True Rival Eats Another Devil Fruit
Image
You think Zoro’s character arc in One Piece is already over? But what if we say, it’s just starting? Why? We still have so much to learn about his true rival, Shiryu, right? Well, with the Suke Suke no Mi devil fruit that gives invisibility, the guy is already powerful enough, but it turns out he has even more room to grow!

So, when Shiryu comes into play, there’s surely going to be some spotlight on Zoro. In fact, it’d be crazy if we get to see Shiryu surpassing Zoro. Like, it’s not that unlikely even now, but one thing will make it more obvious. And it seems like Oda is steering the narrative precisely in that way.

Shiryu needs another Devil Fruit to be a real threat

To be fair, Shiryu’s fight against Garp wasn’t exactly impressive. Also, if he ever gets...

One Piece: Kuma’s Powers and Tragic Backstory Explained
Image
Who would you say is the most tragic character in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece? Is it Luffy, who lost his brother after not being strong enough to save him? Or perhaps it’s Koala, who didn’t know how to express herself until the Sun Pirates took her in. While both the characters are tragic in their own right, neither endured the tragedy and sacrifice that Bartholomew Kuma had to endure.

From agreeing to become a mindless cyborg for the sake of his daughter, to pushing away his loved ones to protect them, Kuma truly endured the most in One Piece, and you are sure to tear up when you read about it.
