BritBox has announced the start of production of the third season of the multi-award-winning Belfast-based drama Blue Lights, along with the news that Cathy Tyson and Michael Smiley have joined the cast.
Produced by Two Cities Television and co-produced by Gallagher Films for BBC iPlayer and BBC One, the critically acclaimed show also stars returning cast Siân Brooke, Martin McCann, Katherine Devlin, Nathan Braniff, Joanne Crawford, Andi Osho, Frank Blake, Abigail McGibbon, Dearbháile McKinney and Andrea Irvine.
Two years into their jobs as response officers, Grace (Brooke), Annie (Devlin) and Tommy (Braniff) are accustomed to life under the blue lights. But their work will take them into a sinister world hidden behind the veneer of middle-class life, the world of the accountants and lawyers facilitating organized crime.
The old political and criminal order has gone and a new global gang rules Belfast, bringing danger closer to home for our officers than ever before.

Whether due to spoiler phobia, poor impulse control, or an unquenchable need to know what treat Stevie will be serving next out of his magic lunchbox, some Blue Lights fans have already binge-watched all six episodes of series two. To those people we say, breathe out. More is coming.
Two months before series two arrived on BBC One and iPlayer, the corporation confirmed that it had ordered two further series of Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson’s Belfast-set police drama. Like the first two, series three and four will each have the regulation six-episodes, and if all goes to plan, we might reasonably expect them to air respectively in spring 2025 and spring 2026.
Series one arrived to acclaim last March and quickly bagsied itself high-ranking spots on ‘The Best TV of 2023’ round-ups come the end of the year. It’s the story of three rookie recruits to the Police Service of...

Warning: contains spoilers for the Blue Lights series one finale.
When Blue Lights arrived in 2023, it felt like counter-programming to the news headlines. Real life was filled with reports of police corruption, brutality and deadly crimes committed under cover of the uniform, and here was this drama, offering an alternative.
Grace, Tommy and Annie were that alternative. New recruits to the Police Service of Northern Ireland, they weren’t in uniform to abuse power or take greasy backhanders, they were there to help, and they had the courage of their convictions.
That isn’t to say their courage and convictions weren’t sorely tested by the reality of the job. As they discovered, policing a community riven by historical conflict is tough enough without MI5 doing deals with local kingpins that keep the drugs and crime flowing. Not to mention anonymous death threats and the violent loss of beloved colleagues.

Prime Video has released the official trailer for the second season of the comedy ‘Good Omens.’
Michael Sheen and David Tennant are back as Aziraphale and Crowley. Here the pair may have helped stop the Apocalypse, but that doesn’t appear to have done them any favours with Heaven or Hell.
Now they must re-team to solve a mystery that takes in all of heaven and hell – seems the archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) has gone missing.
Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, Reece Shearsmith, Niamh Walsh and Derek Jacobi are all back for the new run. They’re joined this time by Nina Sosanya, Miranda Richardson, Dame Sian Phillips, Tim Downie, Pete Firman, Andi Osho and Alex Norton. Maggie Service, Quelin Sepulveda and Shelley Conn also star.
Neil Gaiman continues as executive producer and co-showruns, along with executive producer Douglas Mackinnon who also returned to direct.

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Blue Lights (obviously!)
It’s been wonderful to see Blue Lights capture the hearts of the nation – it deserves every bit of its enthusiastic praise. This compelling, Northern Ireland-set crime drama about three rookie cops has been packed full to bursting with a gripping plot, lovable characters and impressive performances from start to captivating finish.
The one comforting thought now that it’s over is that there’s already good news on the series two front – but before we get to that, let’s unpack Blue Lights’ first series. Did that dastardly-but-misunderstood McIntyre gang get what’s coming to them? Did Stevie and Grace get it on? And will our beloved Gerry be back telling Tommy to “take a beat” any time soon?
Read on for all the spoilers…

The BBC has tasked His Dark Materials writer Jack Thorne to pen a TV adaptation of William Golding’s seminal novel Lord of the Flies.
This marks the first time the novel will be made for television, though there have been two feature film adaptations — the first Peter Brook’s 1963 movie and the second made in 1990 by Harry Hook (above).
Sex Education producer Eleven is attached to make The BBC’s series, which was unveiled by BBC Chief Content Officer Charlotte Moore today at a Broadcasting Press Guild event in London. Several other announcements were also made (see below).
Writer Thorne is known for shows such as BBC fantasy series His Dark Materials, Channel 4 Covid-19 drama Help, Shane Meadows’ This is England and Netflix series The Eddy, feature films Wonder and Enola Holmes and theater productions including Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.

The wait for the trailer of Good Omens season 2 is explained by creator Neil Gaiman. The fantasy-comedy series, which is based on the 1990 novel of the same name by Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and which follows the angel Aziraphale and the demon Crowley, was positioned as a limited series. But, bolstered by a positive response and awards recognition, Prime Video confirmed Good Omens season 2 in June 2021. Michael Sheen, who plays Aziraphale, and David Tennant, who portrays Crowley, are set to return.
In a Tumblr post, Gaiman discussed the delay around promotional updates on Good Omens season 2. The creator and author confirmed that new episodes would arrive in the summer of 2023, also explaining that a trailer hasn't been made yet. In his remarks, which are included below, Gaiman talks about the promotional cycle for a television show, how that sometimes can differ from a movie, and notes he suggested a trailer...

Crime dramas are rarely revolutionary – we often watch them because they’re comfortingly formulaic – but every so often you get a gem that changes the game. We saw it with Line of Duty, Happy Valley, and Luther – and now Blue Lights is here to make you sit up, stop scrolling and get invested.
What the detectives from the above shows all have in common is experience, but Blue Lights focusses on three fresh-faced officers on probation in Belfast, Northern Ireland’s most dangerous city. Annie (Katherine Devlin) is scrappy and impetuous, Tommy (Nathan Braniff) is bookish and a terrible shot, and Grace (played by Trying’s Sian Brooke) is naively optimistic about making a difference despite having joined the force in her forties after a career as a social worker.
The good news is that what they lack in policing potential, they make up for in instant likeability, and this...

"You've been manipulated, Charlotte." TriCoast has revealed another new official US trailer for the indie mystery thriller film called The Stranger in Our Bed, opening in the US later this month. We posted the UK trailer a few weeks ago which describes this as similar to Gone Girl. Feeling trapped in her controlling marriage to wealthy husband Tom, Charlotte Carlisle begins an affair with another man, but then he one day mysteriously disappears without a trace. Behind her husband's back, she secretly begins an investigation, teaming up with her lover's sister Becki to uncover the truth behind what happened to him. It becomes clear that nothing is as it seems, and after becoming witnesses to a murder, the two become entangled in a dark, twisted game of cat-and-mouse. Starring Ben Lloyd-Hughes, Emily Berrington, Terri Dwyer, Andi Osho, Bart Edwards, & Nina Wadia. This looks like it gets very dark and crazy at the end,...

Despite its smattering of shortcomings, “A Castle For Christmas” is gently disarming, heartening, holiday-themed escapism that’s as satisfying as a cup of hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night. Director Mary Lambert’s romcom is centered on a divorcée who, after a public meltdown, buys a castle in Scotland, meets a dreamy duke and regains her creative vitality. Trading cloying for cute, treacly for tolerable, and caustic for comforting, its sincere, aspirational sentiments about it never being too late to write your own second chapter feel genuinely meaningful, making up for its struggles to pay off unrequited setups.
Sophie Brown (Brooke Shields) is a successful romcom novelist, having released a dozen books in the popular “Emma Gale” series. However, the celebrated author has recently come under fire by her fans since choosing to kill off her protagonist’s love interest — a creative decision motivated by her own bitter...

"Maybe this is my next chapter..." Netflix has released the first official trailer for A Castle for Christmas, a charming romantic comedy holiday movie debuting on Thanksgiving week later this month. The latest film from the intrepid filmmaker Mary Lambert. Famed author Sophie Brown travels to Scotland hoping to buy a small castle, but the prickly owner Duke Myles is reluctant to sell to a foreigner. Working to find a compromise, the pair constantly butt heads, but they may just find something more than they were expecting. Starring two talented "where have they been?" actors: Cary Elwes and Brooke Shields. And a cast including Vanessa Grasse, Suanne Braun, Lee Ross, Andi Osho, Mark Fleischmann, and Eilidh Loan. This looks like the most adorable Christmas movie that's destined to become a new holiday classic! Lots of cheesiness and charm. And a giant castle! And Cary Elwes back to woo another lass!

Warning: contains spoilers for Line of Duty series six, episode two.
From the Brink’s-Mat Robbery, to predatory sex offender Jimmy Savile, the scripts for police drama Line of Duty are peppered with mention of real-world criminal cases. Blending reality and fiction cements the show’s naturalism and feeds into each series’ themes.
Series six revolves around the investigation into the murder of fictional journalist Gail Vella, played by Andi Osho. The first episode opens just over a year since Vella was fatally shot outside her home, in which time no suspects have been charged. The officer leading the investigation is suspected of a cover-up, which is thought to explain the lack of progress on the case, and brings Line of Duty’s anti-corruption leads into proceedings.
In episode two, a likely motive for Vella’s murder is uncovered. The journalist was investigating links between police corruption and organised crime,...

Is this allowed? Somebody please check. Can Kate just leave AC-12? She’s a third of the operation. One of the three pyramids at Giza may as well stand up and walk away. The strawberry from Neapolitan ice cream, silver Olympic medals, degrees 240 – 360 of all circles… could they also just call it a day? Unacceptable. This is AC-12 we’re talking about. 12 as in four times three: the gaffer, Steve and Kate – the corners of the straight-backed, clean-nosed triangle of truth.
No wonder Ted is feeling sore about it. The Super could barely bring himself to look at Fleming’s picture in this series six opener, the sight of those blue, blue eyes prompting him to mutter about loyalty and then change the subject to great wee girl Chloe, AC-12’s newest recruit. Last series’ investigation into ‘H’ clearly left a grubby stain on the unit’s reputation.

Doubt was the engine of writer Jack Thorne’s previous Channel 4 drama National Treasure, in which Robbie Coltrane played a popular entertainer on trial for multiple sexual assaults. Was Coltrane’s character guilty or not? Whose memory of events was reliable? Who was lying and who was telling the truth?

Sarah Lancashire plays the latter, Miriam Grayson, with the instant, garrulous appeal of her role as Sgt Catherine Cawood in BBC police drama Happy Valley. We meet her mid-monologue, cheerily...

Menelik Shabazz’s exploration of relationships in the UK’s black British community is laidback and likable
Now that “dating” has again become a topic of brow-furrowing media concern, with Tinder being wheeled out as the villain, it’s a relief to come across something on the subject with such laidback warmth. It’s overlong, needing a stricter edit, but engaging and sympathetic. Film-maker Menelik Shabazz looks at dating and relationships in the UK’s black British community, talking to single people, therapists, relationship counsellors and also to comics, including Andi Osho, who can be relied upon to supply a suitably ribald account of what’s at stake.

Speaking on This Morning today (June 18), Osho explained that she made sure to do research before she started filming. Osho commented: "I just wanted to get it all right. I started off talking to my mum because she's a nurse. She said, 'One thing is they don't get the crash trolley out nearly as much as they do in Holby!' So that was nice to hear! I hope you’ve been following our coverage of Let’s Dance For Comic Relief tonight! The results were a bit of a shocker though – the first act guaranteed a place in the live final was Charlie Baker and John Thornton, whose tap dance routine we thought was a bit old fashioned. Seems Britain did not agree!
The battle for second place was between Lulu’s brilliant Soulja Boy dance and Noel Fielding’s stellar Kate Bush impersonation. And as much as we loved Lulu’s routine, it was only right that Noel Fielding followed Baker and Thornton through to the final.
Although it wasn’t a dead cert that Fielding would survive – the judging panel got split quite quickly. Lee Mack chose Noel while Jack Whitehall voted to save Lulu (though we suspect that he was trying to avoid making the casting vote in favour of Fielding!) This left...
