Arcane (Season 2): Review, Recap & Ending Explained – What Happens When Ekko and Jayce Unite Against Viktor’s Vision of Evolution?
Hailee Steinfeld and Ella Purnell in Arcane (2021)
“Arcane – League of Legends” is a curious beast. It is based on a game that doesn’t have a set narrative of its own. Rather its world being developed works as a platform for fighting. However, the world being developed and the backstory information for each of those characters act as the substrate for this adaptation, with the narrative taking its own swerves of storytelling. But what truly sets “Arcane” apart from the rest of these animated adaptations is Fortiche Studios’ animation, specifically the different styles of animation jostling and co-existing within the same space. In this article, I will dive into what takes place in Arcane (season 2). Please be aware that the article contains spoilers, so reader discretion is advised.

Arcane (Season 2) Recap:

Season 2 is divided into distinctive three acts, with each act consisting of three episodes that move the story forward, while succinctly differentiating itself. It also works...

Although many of the most famous examples of martial TV shows, such as Dragon Ball and Naruto, stemmed from Japan, Western animation studios also produced some of the greatest examples of this genre. Martial arts as a discipline teaches its practitioners about the virtues of consistency, mindfulness, and training, which makes it the perfect topic for the life lessons taught to young viewers in many animated series.

Some of the greatest animated series explored themes around martial arts and the virtues of fighting for what is right. By blending different genres such as action, fantasy, and sci-fi in series populated by skilled fighters, the narrative potential of battles between good and evil is endless. While many of these series were influenced by anime classics, they also carved...

Batwheels' Jacob Bertrand Talks Season 2 Of DC Animated Show, Growing With Bam & Newly Discovered Comics
Christian Bale in The Dark Knight (2008)
Batman's team of vehicles is back for new adventures with Batwheels. Together, they form the Batwheels, a new crime-fighting team led by the Batmobile, who goes by Bam for short.

Batwheels season 2 continues the show's unique blend of lighthearted character development and more direct crime-fighting adventures. Some of the episodes this season see the titular group facing off against the Legion of Zoom as they try to connect to the Batcomputer to become all-powerful, while also still taking time to enjoy things like dressing up for Halloween and helping Duke Thomas' Robin and the adorable Ace the Bat-Hound try and beat Harley Quinn...

Mass Effect's Male Shepard Was Inspired By A Surprising Famous Actor
Image
The Mass Effect series owes much of its story, setting, and tone to blockbuster films, and the default model of the male Commander Sheppard was inspired by a major Hollywood superstar. Throughout the first three Mass Effect games, players took control of the fully-customizable Shepard as they journeyed across the Milky Way galaxy and rallied together a rag-tag group of allies to defeat the sinister Reapers. Fans recently got to re-experience this epic storyline with the release of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a remaster of the original Mass Effect trilogy that managed to surpass publisher EA’s sales expectations when it launched last May.

Mass Effect series art director Derek Watts recently sat down with TechRadar Gaming (via GamesRadar) to discuss how his team at BioWare came up with the designs of the series’ most notable characters - including the default model for the male version of Mass Effect's Commander Shepard.

‘Batman: Death in the Family’ Blu-ray Review
Image
Features the voices of: Bruce Greenwood, Vincent Martella, John Dimaggio, Zehra Fazal, Kimberly Brooks, Nick Carson, Gary Cole, Nolan North | Written and Directed by Brandon Vietti

Batman: Death in the Family really is something different, in more ways than one. I was pleased to see Warner Bros Animation doing something new and fresh with Batman releases, giving us an interactive movie based on the famous 1988 Batman story-arc, A Death in the Family. You, as the viewer, are in the driver’s seat this time, afforded the opportunity to control the future and paths of the characters on screen.

I’ve dabbled with interactive movies in the past, such as Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and it’s been a mixed bag but always intriguing and fun to experience in some manner or another. I was excited for this, because after all, this is Batman, this is a world we know and love and are super familiar with,...

Review: Justice League Dark: Apokolips War
Image
All of the marketing promises that Justice League Dark: Apokolips War, out today for digital streaming, is the final chapter of the DC Animated Movie Universe. Similar to Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame wrapping up a decade’s worth of stories, this too brings everything to a cosmic climax, the likes of which have not been attempted before. The largely successful effort clocks in at 90 minutes, making for the longest film yet in the 38 animated features from Warner Animation.

The film opens with John Constantine (Matt Ryan), now a full-fledged member of the League, in bed with Zatanna (Camilla Luddington), a moment of bliss before impending doom. The language and graphic violence definitely make this inappropriate for the youngest viewers so parents are forewarned.

Darkseid (Tony Todd) has been a looming threat and now, he launches his all-out assault on Earth. With the Titans left to defend Earth, Superman (Jerry O’Connell...

‘Better Things’: The Superhuman Filmmaking of Pamela Adlon
Pamela Adlon
There’s a line forming next to Pamela Adlon.

First up is Sally Sue Beisel, a producer and first A.D., standing at a respectable distance with a growing list of questions for her “Better Things” showrunner; director of photography Paul Koestner is right behind her, waiting to talk to his director about the next shot; there are a few more patient crew members in tow, wanting answers from the episode’s executive producer, writer, and star, but Adlon — who fills all these roles and more — isn’t looking back. She’s looking at Jack Eyman, a child actor trying to stick his one, brief scene.

“It feels weird? That weird aggressive kind of energy? That’s real,” Adlon tells her co-star, eyes dialed in to read his reaction.

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Blu-ray Release Date And Extras Revealed
Once we’re ready to put 2019 behind us, I’m confident that we’ll be able to say this year was a great time for DC animation. In my view, Reign of the Supermen, Justice League vs. The Fatal Five and Batman vs. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were each impressive to varying degrees, with Batman: Hush dazzling audiences most recently.

If those weren’t enough, the talented folks behind these flicks have one more ace up their sleeve, that being Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. For those not up to speed, they should know this’ll be an original tale developed for the direct-to-video market, as opposed to an adaptation of any specific comic book. Furthermore, it’ll indeed take place within the New 52-inspired continuity begun by Justice League: War – only it’s set earlier on the timeline.

Before now, there were only unconfirmed reports regarding when Bloodlines will arrive on...

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Release Date Revealed
Jim Dandy Aug 12, 2019

The last DC Animated movie for 2019 is Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. Here's what you need to know.

With the debut of the newest DC animated movie, Batman: Hush, comes a fresh batch of information about its successor. DC has finally given us a good look at Wonder Woman: Bloodlines, the last movie on the slate for 2019, and while much of the information released is not new, there is one extremely promising tidbit that is officially out in the world.

Rosario Dawson continues as Diana, a role she will be playing for the sixth time, and she is joined on the project by veteran comics and cartoon writer Mairghread Scott. Scott has written Diana before, on screen for Justice League Action and on the page as part of Wonder Woman's 75th anniversary special. You might recognize her name from a fun run on Batgirl or as one of the minds behind Windblade and Victarion,...

First Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Trailer Promises Action And Villains Galore
With Batman: Hush now in our rearview mirror (you can check out our review for that one here), our attention now turns toward the next major entry in the hallowed library of DC animated movies. If you’ve been keeping up with recent news, then you know that to be Wonder Woman: Bloodlines.

To bring those late to the party up to speed, know this flick does indeed follow the New 52-inspired continuity begun by Justice League: War – but it’s set earlier on the timeline. From the look of it, we could consider it animation’s answer to Wonder Woman: Year One, though I must be quick to point out this isn’t an adaptation of Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott’s work on the comic book side. I mean, it’s possible some cues could be taken from the book, but this is an original story.

Whetting our...

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Trailer Turns Amazon Warrior Diana Prince Into a True Hero
Warner Bros. has released the first trailer for Wonder Woman: Bloodlines. This is the latest in what DC has dubbed simply the DC Universe Movies, but it comes from a much longer line of animated DC Comics adaptations that, on the whole, have been embraced in a big way by fans. Where some of the live-action movies have left something to be desired in the eyes of many, these animated offerings tend to please and this looks to be no exception, as we've got a big, slick spectacle on the way.

The trailer kicks off with the familiar origin story for Diana Prince, who decides to become a hero to the human race after saving a man named Steve Trevor. Beyond that, the footage we see here is loaded down with action. We see Wonder Woman duking it out with the likes of Giganta, amongst many other foes. Things eventually...

Wonder Woman: Bloodlines Voice Cast, Synopsis And Artwork Revealed
Odd as it may seem, a certain Amazon Warrior hasn’t actually headlined an animated film of her own since 2009’s Wonder Woman. She’s played a huge part in numerous direct-to-video Justice League flicks in the time since, sure, but it’s probably safe to say her fanbase has been waiting with bated breath for some sort of followup.

Thankfully, the hiatus will end later this year once Wonder Woman: Bloodlines arrives on home video. According to a first look featurette included on the Batman: Hush Blu-ray (stay tuned to We Got This Covered for our full review pertaining to that one), this tale will indeed fall in line with the New 52-inspired continuity started with Justice League: War – but it’ll take place earlier in Diana’s superhero career.

But if you’d like a little more info to chew on, you can check out the official synopsis...
